This place was worth all the hype and the line of 40+ people! The line moved pretty fast for being so long. I tried the fajita taco and the potato with egg taco and beans. Both were very tasty. The tortillas were home made right in front of us and we’re light and airy. Check out man was friendly. Would definitely go back!

This might be my husband and my favorite place for a nice authentic brunch which includes menudo and an amazing barbacoa. The atmosphere is hectic and a little dim. The waitresses are super serious and ready to get you in and out with your tummy fully satisfied. The old man behind the counter is always super nice and thanks you profusely for supporting them. Likes are like so don’t say I didn’t warn you. But all worth it for sure!!!

I am now addicted to this place. The bacon & eggs taco is smokey. The huge stone bowl of green sauce is so so good. The ladies working in here are always so nice at such a very early time of day. I think the tortillas are made right in front of you by hand and are perfect. I don’t want to know what is in them because they are too good.

Oh. My. Buddha. This is a new all time favorite. From the food, to the drinks, to the jammin ass music everything is awesome beyond words! Let me paint the picture for you. You walk in to 1990’s Latino Houston. Fresh authentic Mexican food. Owner at the cash register ringing everyone up. It’s everything you’d expect it to be darling. Food is full of flavor, I mean it practically punches you in the face(in a friendly way) I had the egg and potatoe tacos and horchata and it was delicious.

I came here at about 9am on a saturday with my family. The place was packed but totally unorganized. The setup is similar to going to a taqueria inside a meat market. They have the food premade on hotplates and you ask for what kind of tacos you want. After ordering I tried to go pay at the register, but the lady told me to go eat and come pay afterwards which I totally found odd. As for the foood, it wasn’t all that great. The guisado was a little on the salty side. My eggs on the other hand were bland. I just didn’t really care for this place at all.

First of all only reason im giving 1 star is because Unilocal does not let me do any less. We normally have a ok experience picking up tacos to go. So today we decided to stay and sit for brunch. The Waitress was very unfriendly but didn’t pay much attention to it. So the show began when one of my friends found a hair in his plate. She was present when he pulled the hair from the dish and just stared & waited for us to say something. Then she had the nerve to ask do you want another dish or to remove it from the ticket. No sorry, no let me get with the kitchen and get you a new dish. I didn’t expect a free meal for all of us but at least a Im sorry for the inconvenience at the very least! These people don’t wear name tags if so I would of slapped her name on here for your reference. Ck out your food before your half way and swallow a hair…

I agree with the food critics from the Houston Press: «There are three Laredo Taquerias, each with its own appeal. The original on Washington Avenue is convenient to downtown and the Heights, and the one on Patton and Fulton looks like your abuela’s house is South Texas. But the Laredo Taqueria on Cavalcade has the best food.»

Oh heck no!!! If you don’t know Spanish don’t go here! No joke I look like a typical Mexican girl but do not know Spanish at all. So I go in and I see people sitting down and I ask do we sit anywhere? The lady just nodded and said yes. So I go sit down and another girl comes to tell me I have to order first then go sit down then go pay later. So I go through the line. Patiently waiting and the lady looks right over me and asks the lady beside me what she was red to order. I’m like hmmmmm… That’s odd so I asked the girl beside me «did she really just skip me, that’s kinda rude.» She then tells the server that she skipped me and the lady told her I’m guessing that I wasn’t saying nothing. Well no shit! If I don’t know Spanish how the heck am I suppose to know what the hell she is saying to me. I felt like shit. Apparently I’m guessing I was in a different part of Houston which was only Spanish speaking!?! It was so disrespectful. The food wasn’t amazing like everyone says and the tortillas were so, so! I won’t go back there because of the language barrier. Last time I checked I was in America and I expected someone to know English. I had the barbacoa and the chorizo and eggs. Like I said nothing special. #NOSPANISH #NOFOOD!

First time trying this place. Did have to wait in line inside the restaurant; about 10 – 15 mins. I’ve heard there’s usually a line that leads to the outside. I really liked the food and loved the tortillas de harina(flour). You wait in line, order your food at the counter, and find a table to eat/sit at. I ordered a barbacoa taco and egg/potato taco; both really good. The waitress took our drink order while we ordered food and later brought it to us along with red and green salsa. Loved their green salsa! The first part of the restaurant gets pretty hot since that’s where they have the food and cook the tortillas. Does have a parking lot. With so many people coming through the restaurant, spots do get limited. There’s also a laundromat next door. Order 4 tacos Small menudo 2 aguas(drinks) Large menudo to go Total $ 31

I was invited by some friends to comr here and im not impresse with the services. the set up looks messy and place looks dark and dirty. the food look greasy and not fresh like everything eas reheated. the flour tortillia was not homemade but tasted like that you just add water. Now i been to yhe other laredo on patton and quit the opposite. food is fresher and place is cleaner and people are more friendlier. maybe the place on calvacade can learn domething from the people on patton and have pride in there presentation anf taking better care of there customers.

Long line to get food but that’s okay. Picadillo was great but chorizo was just average. Green salsa was hot but flavorful. Cons: You have to get a lady’s attention to order. Myself and hubby got skipped over. After ordering, I tried to pay and got sent away. Note: if you’re eating at the restaurant, you can’t pay till after you eat. If you are taking your food to go, you can pay right Away. I read in previous reviews that people were complaining about getting salsa for their tacos from the big bowls. Well that is for to go peeps. Your salsa will get brought to you by a waitress if you are eating at the restaurant. You also will get asked what you want to drink while trying To order your tacos and I’m pretty sure this is why we got skipped while ordering. Your drinks and salsa will take about 5 ish minutes to get delivered to your table. Also, I tried to sit at a table, and a waitress told me I couldn’t sit there. Then she put a couple that was behind us at that table. Ummm okay. That was rude. Hubby couldn’t wait for the drinks so he eventually got up and grabbed the minute maid Orange and apple juice. Overall, it was okay. Same experience as the washington location. Definitely NOT the best tacos in houston!

I liked the Barbacoa Tacos I Just didnt like the service ATALL. I got a feelling that the waitress didnt like me, as soon as i got there she looked at me from head to toe with an unpleasent face. Probably because i was over dressed because i had just gotten out from a formal event. Also my dad asked the manager(i think he was the manager) a question and he didnt bother to reply because he was on his flip phone. Overall the food is good but not the service!

Laredo’s has several locations. The Calvacade location and the one on Washington Ave. My personal preference is the Washington Ave. Location simply because I feel they have a better variety and is a bit more upbeat. Both restaurants get packed and have a long line, especially for breakfast. My favorite tacos are the bacon, egg and cheese and the plain fajita beef taco with cheese. I have honestly had better tacos than these and I feel they are over priced. The tacos are really not that big and they don’t fill them up as they probably should. I always feel like I pay too much for the amount of food I receive. Service is not so great due to their high traffic and they only seem to care to get you through the line and take your money. This place is not bad but there are plenty of other places to get tacos. Give it shot and see for yourself. I rate this place as just AVERAGE. Nothing stands out to rave about.

Have eaten here several times over the past few months, food is okay but nothing to crow about. Barbacoa, with and without pico de gallo, is watery/bland, fajita a bit tough but chewable. They ran out of corn tortillas around noon(?). A friend likes eating there so I’ll try a few more things and update. Line is usually wrapped around the dining room. Tacos and Cokes are $ 2 each. Get lata(can), plastico(standard plastic w/cap), or Coca Mexicana(imported, I think they use cane sugar???).

Good. Greasy. Tacos. Perfect for the Saturday/Sunday hangovers. Best flour tortillas. $ 2 per taco. Deduct one star for the long wait. Average wait time is 15 – 20 minutes. On a busy day 30 minutes. But gotta say these tacos are worth it.

BESTTACOSINHOUSTON Quick story of how much the owner values it’s customers. We get there after trying to find parking for 10 minutes and the line was so so long me and my boyfriend decided to leave, the owner asked us why we’re leaving and after telling him the line was too long he said he’ll take our order. He took our order right away and cleared a table for us and we has our food in less than 5 minutes. We were so grateful eating our food without having to wait in line. Best service I received. I order egg and potato with beans, no pales and egg with beans, and basically any taco with no meat(vegetarian). The flour tortillas are hand made and thicker than your average thin tortillas. I love them! Breakfast tacos are the best hands down and their salsas are delicious

Sure the lines are long and the place is always crowded, but the food is good. I haven’t found a better taco place in Houston. I am open to suggestions.

Greasy, dirty, and disorganized. That about sums it up. You’d think for such a large space, they’d at least put a greater distance between where you eat, order, and the restrooms! The food is nothing spectacular. There was a lady putting beans in the tortillas without gloves while other ladies tried to squeeze their way through one another to get meat for other people’s orders. It was a mess. To add to the chaos, the salsa was placed in huge open bowls next to the cash register — bowls with spoons that you have to find time to scoop yourself while being pushed through the line to pay. Not going back for this experience, and definitely not going back for the tacos. Super greasy and way too salty! What a disappointment.

I’ve been eating at the Cavalcade location for years. It is my favorite taqueria, not just in Houston, but anywhere. «Taqueria» does not adequately describe the restaurant. They have excellent weekend menudo, a few plates, cabrito, fajitas, etc. This Sunday morning I stuffed myself with three tacos: carnitas, a spicy beef, and eggs with nopales. There were at least nine more options. You need to understand the system. There will likely be a long line. Parking is tight. The waitresses speak Spanish. Do not be deterred. While in line you will be asked if you are eating in or taking out and what you want to drink. When you finally get to order tell the server which kind of tortilla you prefer(both flour(harina) and corn(maiz) are made by hand to order). The server will ask you if you want beans. Say yes; it is a nice schmear or refrieds. Then look over the steam table of offerings and order. Remember there is more than tacos. Do not be deterred by the lines, parking, or the curmudgeon owner at the cash register(pay when you are done). This place is amazing.
