Do yourself a favor, skip this bar, and go to one of about a dozen within a half mile from here where you’ll actually get served a beverage. I’ve been here three times and the experience has gotten worse and worse every time. I don’t know why I even bothered to return the third time, but then again, now I know that there will NEVER be a fourth. The place looks great from the outside. Located just across from University of St. Thomas, open gravel parking lot, large patio with lights strung across, and a spacious interior with a lot of awkwardly tall booth seating. They also tend to have food trucks out on the weekends from when I’ve driven by. That said, the bartenders have to be the most miserable group I’ve ever met. None of them ever seem to want to be there, and they practically grunt at you instead of using actual words. They’re careless as well– we were there one night for a party where there was barely anyone else around, but the bartenders kept getting drinks put on the wrong tabs and then acted like we were making them go out of their way when we had them try to fix the tabs. On my last visit, the bartender got offended that I didn’t leave a sufficiently large tip for him and actually FOLLOWED me out to my car to bitch about it. I think he saw me walking out with a girl(a platonic friend who asked me to drive her to her car) and was trying to make me look bad. I was telling some friends about how he claimed my tip«was an insult» when another friend– from the aforementioned party, said one of the jackass bartenders said the exact same thing to him when he dropped 20% on a tab on that visit. I went to have a word with the manager, who basically indicated that she didn’t care. I handed her my business card and said, «In that case, I’d appreciate it if the owner gave me a call.» She responded with, «Yeah, sometimes I’d like that too, but we can’t always get what we want.» I’ll tell you what Jackson’s won’t be getting any more of– my business.

HOTTYTODDY!!! When I walked in and saw the Olé Miss flag, I knew I was in the right place. Friendly staff, great drinks, awesome karaōke!!! The bouncers were even nice! LoL! Overall, a great place to be for a night out, sucks they don’t have food though. BUT.. .there was a food truck out front that had decent tacos.

There is just a little too much ‘tude’ from the bartenders. Mainly the main girl who is always there. She just seems like she never wants to be there. No smile, no warmth, no greeting. If you like ice houses I would go to west Alabama.

SAFETYALERT: There was a STABBING in the parking lot!!! My friend got hurt after beer bottles were tossed and was used to stab him. A swarm of police cars came to break up the fight, thank goodness. I won’t be coming back to this bar again!!! It has gone downhill from bad music, to getting tickets when parking, horrific and racist staff and now bar brawls, it is not safe to come here anymore.

Came by Saturday with my wife for the Olé Miss game.(Jackson’s Watering Hole hosts watch parties for all Olé Miss College Football games.) Not a bad dive bar and fun place to watch a game if you’re a Rebel or Rebel supporter. There was a great taco food truck posted up outside of the patio and I was told they have food trucks just about every Saturday which is always a plus. Full bar and all the regular drink choices. They had a fairly good selection of craft beers as well, if that’s your thing. Parking lot is small, so prepare to hunt a street spot and keep an eye out for no parking signs. Pretty much a no frills relaxed dive bar with indoor and outdoor seating options. Good place for a beer and football game.

Will never go there again. The only way they know to run this place is to making a lot of noise. Place is ugly looking, no parking, no good collection of beers either. Bartenders are rude too. I cannot think of one reason why I would go back to this place. There is shattered glass everywhere around the lot. My bike tire punctured there. I will never go back to this place.

The owner Buck is a raging alcoholic. Goes insane at the drop of a hat, likely a mental incapacity of some sort. They allow dogs, however a dog urinated on a table and he threatened to beat up the owner. Had to be held back actually. Pathetic excuse for a businessman. They illegally smoke in the bar as well. It would be great to see this place taken over by a person who understands business and doesn’t «buy» shots for people pretending to be interested in his bs. The bartenders often have to deal with a beligerant drunk ordering shots, getting people trashed, and getting no tips because of it. Sad sad man.

Awful. My friends ID was expired and she showed proof with credit cards and everything but he wouldn’t let her in even though she said she wasn’t drinking. Also, she had given it to a cop before bc she had gotten her ID stolen. Stupid AF

This place was a lot of fun even though everyone had to cram inside during the storm. The band never stopped playing and the bartenders were handing out free samples of their new summer cocktail. Some friends with us had nothing but good things to say about the crawfish that day too. All in all I will definitely be going back.

This is a really great bar if you’re looking for somewhere with a laid-back kind of style. I can’t vouch for it on the weekends(other reviews make it seem like an annoying frat party on weekend nights… blegh), but the two times I’ve been have been on random weeknights to watch some sort of sports event. There’s a nice private parking lot. On these two weeknight occasions, the bar was relatively quiet with places to sit inside and enjoy a relaxing drink and conversation about life(or the sports). There is a huge patio with lots of picnic tables, and the patio is dog friendly. There are ton of TVs inside to partake in the sports. Judging by the Olé Miss banners, I assume this is where alumni come to enjoy football games in the fall. We ordered drinks at the bar, but afterwards our servers were very attentive but not pushy or annoying. Just chill. There are a lot of Houston beer options. That night was a Houston sports night, so Houston beers were super cheap. I’m not sure if that is a recurring thing or not. The other drinks we had were kind of pricey but not anything too different from the other bars in the area. As stated in other reviews, the best part is the bathroom. There is a wall of framed memes, and I spend way too much time in there reading, laughing, and freaking out people in the stalls. Dress code is super casual, at least on week nights. There was a food truck parked outside, but they were closed up(either due to the time or the torrential downpour we were experiencing that day). The only thing that was kind of weird is that I was one of the only women there. The last time I went, I did a little math and there were 5 women and 30 men. Granted, it was a basketball playoff night and may not be the usual mix, but I still felt a little out of place. Didn’t ruin my good time, though! Single ladies, this may be the spot for you! Nice service. Laid-back. Dog-friendly. Good for sports-watching. Great patio.

THISPLACERIPPEDMEOFF!!! They charged my debit card twice and never refunded me the money. I went into the bar in person and the bar tender suggested I stay and drink what the bar owed me. I called the manager no less than 10 times yet the bar never refunded me the $ 17.75 they owed me. They kept saying they would«handle it first thing tomorrow.» Never did. I finally gave up and got reimbursed thru my bank. I will never go back to this establishment. If you do go, bring cash.

Good neighborhood bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Usually there is a food truck if you get the munchies. Of course weekends are when they are the busiest. Usually a crowd on mainly 20’s and 30’s age group. Olé Miss fans show up to watch their team play on the numerous TV’s located inside and outside. It has a small parking lot adjacent to the bar.

This place has too many white people. I didn’t think that was possible, but SURPRISE! It is. I actually felt uncomfortable. like maybe i stepped into an alternate universe. other than that it was adequate for a bar.

Laid back, dog friendly, good craft beer selection and a wall of memes that seem to get more distracting as the night goes on. Why aren’t you there already! Not to mention the staff and owner are incredibly friendly. On our first trip here, the owner, Buck, bought our table a round of beers and has greeted us by name on every subsequent visit, even though we only stop in once every two weeks or so. Jackson’s has become our go-to spot when we just want to kick back and enjoy a few!

This place is awesome! Stopped in while traveling to watch Sunday football. Very cool local spot with good beer selection. They had many beers from Abita and a few local Houston breweries were represented. I did not order food due to a late breakfast, but one of the cooks came around with candied bacon wrapped cheese stuffed jalepenos. Delicious and hospitable! It attracts a fun crowd and I will likely visit next time I’m around :)

First of all, the manager has always given incredibly good service. He’s been polite and welcoming and that’s all I really want besides good drinks. And they have those, too. So I felt bad about only giving one star. But this review concerns the bartenders and doorman. The last couple times I’ve been in, the bartenders never seem to know what beers they have on tap(ex. I asked for a beer I knew they had on tap and they said they didn’t have it until I pressed it). They generally seem to have a catty attitude. I work in the industry and understand pulling out a little attitude for unreasonable customers but given my mutual experience, I don’t think asking for my tab was being unreasonable. Lastly, and this was the worst, I loved going there because it’s one of the few places we could take our dog and walk inside to get our beer before settling on the patio. They don’t have wait service so it’s nice not having to tie her up alone, which feels irresponsible. Last time we went, the doorman told us to make sure we don’t take her inside. I asked why, then, had I seen five or six other dogs on any other day inside the bar. He said the manager watches the tapes and that never should have happened and no one os supposed to have a dog inside. Okay. Maybe they changed the rules. But I sure didn’t see anyone stop the girl who was smoking a cigarette inside while she chatted with the bartender. She may have been at a table close to the door, but she was still inside. I can’t bring my dog inside long enough to buy a beer like plenty of other folks but you can smoke?! THAT’S disgusting.

I think this is solid neighborhood hangout. Lots of craft beer, dog friendly, casual environment to hangout and meet friends. However beware of busy weekends when major football games are on this place fills up fast and stays loud we’ll after the game ends.

I have watched JWH grow as a local watering hole since practically it’s birth. It is a fun young professional crowd Wednesday and Saturday nights(designated amatuer karaōke nights-a MUSTDO in Houston) and of course welcomes people of all ages during ALL business hours. It’s a great after work Happy Hour stop, enjoy a cold bucket of beer on the patio of cool off inside(open concept) and watch the game, whatever it may be. TV are everywhere, bartenders are very accomodating to changing channels. Parking is great, there is a small lot attached as well as a bigger fenced in lot across Richmond that opens up to JWH goers at night. The bouncers are super nice and don’t let in the riff raff. *Ted is awesome!* You’ll see the clothing spectrum here, men and women in power suits, people in for a post-jog brew, well manicured yuppies to the man child with band t-shirts from the 80’s. The owner, Buck, is always around, mingling with his clients and making sure everyone is taken care of. Watch out, if he likes you he’ll buy you a fireball shot! ;) I always recommend this place first to anyone who asks me where is a good place to go out in Houston. It’s centrally located and easy for UBER or LYFT to find you. Food trucks are always there Saturday night. Great for game watches!

This was a first time I have been here. We were looking for somewhere to finish watching the LSU game and a friend had recommended this place. When we got there it was obviously a big Olé Miss hang out but everyone was very nice. Lots of Abita signs everywhere so it kind of has a Cajun flair to it. The patio was great and open and they have TV’s everywhere with multiple games on. The parking is limited and we parked on the street running along side of the bar. It has a very chill atmosphere and was a lot of fun. I look forward to hanging out here again just maybe not on LSU game night :).

I love this bar! It’s so relaxed, and a great way to unwind after a long day or week. The patio is great and I definitely prefer sitting outside(if you’re lucky and it’s not to humid out)! They offer a wide variety of beers on tap, including many Houston brews. They also always have free koozies at the bar which is kind of a nice touch and something you don’t see so often! The last time I went, our waitress was great! We told her how much we enjoy the bar and she even went and got us t shirts for free! We were thrilled and I’ve definitely worn mine quite a few times. I would have to say my favorite part about coming here is the ladies restroom… if you’ve been, you know what I’m talking about. They have some of the funniest meme pictures on the wall and continue to add more each time I come. I always feel awkward when I tell my group I’m going to the restroom and don’t come out for 15 minutes… it’s really because I’ve been standing in the restroom cracking up with about 3 other women reading the memes. It is definitely a nice touch!
