Come for the beer, but try the food too. Extensive draught beer selection, if you like beer this the place to come, IPAs, Sours, Saisons, Porters and Stouts, you name it they have at least one for you. Now to the food, the buffalo mac and cheese is soooo good. The onion rings are good and the stout gravy they come with is interesting in a good way. I can’t wait to come back and try the fried green tomato BLT.

When I walked in and Limp Bizket was playing my first inclination was to leave immediately and go elsewhere for lunch. The wife and I were both hungry so we stayed. I had a really hard to picking something. The menu is pretty limited. I settled on a $ 9 cheese sandwich. It was ok, everything seemed overpriced for what it was. Just not my kinda place I guess. They seemed to have a huge selection of beer, I’m sure they are great, we were just there for lunch thou.

Our first time here and the 6 of us each had something different. It was scrumptious. We will be back. The beer on tap rotates and was an excellent board of beer. Yumm.

This is going to be a long one, so pull up a barstool and grab a sour, frosty, from the tap. J Henry’s current location as seen so many, and so frequent turn around from other restaurants that, when they first installed their restaurant, we were nervous for them. We hoped they had what it took to last the test of time. And we think they do! DRINKS: So I’m partial to sour beers… and this place doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it’s one of the few places in the area that has such a vast beer menu that you can truly find any sippage to suit any palate. They trade out their beer so often, it would be futile to tell you what I drank the last three times I was there, but trust me, their selection is bar(pun intended) none. FOOD: Queso — their stout Queso w pretzel bites. Omg(that’s the noise my mouth makes while smacking away at these buttery, salty, cheesy heartattack bites. Yes, they’re that good Buffalo Balls– an appetizer of another sort. Usually, I try to watch my girlish figure by sticking to a baconetarian diet, but I let that slide for some buffalo balls. They were tender, I’ll give you that, and the marinara and seasoning was great… but I’m just not a meatish person I guess. Fried Green BLT — hellz yes. Where have you been all my life?! Think thick peppery bacon, cooked crisp tender, spooning a crunchy tart fried green tomato, piled too high to wrap your lips around on a gorgeous slab of sourdough. Oh freaking yeah. STAFF: Funny — quips and patron razzing abounds. Put on thick skin, a hearty chuckle, and brush up on your quick comebacks. Furry — 90% of the men working and patronizing this establishment are hairy. Like, beard envy and I’m a chick… like beard oil battles for your olfactory as much as the kitchen. And me loves me some facial hair, so it’s all good. Fast — every time we’ve come here they’ve been quick to serve. Even when they were over capacity they shuttle people through with enough grace and viv that people don’t even realize them been brew-handled. When we brought in a part of 20 with no notice they simply took it in stride with a quick quip and a «better pay the piper» smile Funky — they trade out their brew board enough that we never tire of coming… knowing each time we walk through those doors there’ll be another new brew to sip and savor We’re excited they’re here. Hopefully it’s for the long haul.

So excited to see a place like this in the area. Very casual, relaxed vibe with a large, rotating beer selection. The menu isn’t huge, but everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious. The only reason I’m giving them a 4 star instead of 5 is because the last time I was in I had the fish tacos and while delicious, they were out of cilantro, and the tacos definitely felt like they were missing something. Hope to be in again soon!

Amazing local craft selection! Food is sub par average. Had there buffalo mozzarella meatballs. I expected buffalo meatballs stuffed with mozzarella. Instead, it was mozzarella stuffed meatballs soaked in buffalo sauce. Trying to not be picky, I tried it and did not taste good at all. Luckily, the bartender did comp it off the check. Great drink, stay away from the Buffalo mozzarella meatballs.

AMAZING! went here with my siblings and their spouses before Thanksgiving and we had such a great time. Food was 5 stars. Beer was on point, with a choice for any pallet. Atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. Waitress was quick and friendly. Will definitely be going back!

I’ve visited J. Henry’s several times and always had a great experience. I have ordered several sandwiches and appetizers that all have been very good. On my last visit I was pretty hungry and ordered an entrée for the first time. I was in the mood for a steak and ordered the Beer Glazed Pub Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. For under $ 20 covered in a beer glaze, blue cheese, and caramelized onions, I was not expecting the best selection of beef. Boy I was surprised, 1.5 inches of prime beef cooked perfectly, as ordered to medium. The glaze was complimentary not overpowering, sweet caramelized onions, and a really good quality crumble blue cheese. My companion ordered the Pepere’s Shrimp Spaghetti that I stole a sample of, which was also excellent. They also have a great beer selection.

My boyfriend insisted that we try something new for our Sunday lunch date. We stopped in here on a rainy Sunday and it wasn’t crowded at all. There was only one waitress working the floor. We were promptly seated and she put our drink orders in. We perused the menu and she took our orders. I ordered the bacon tomato soup which was good, but very salty. I also ordered the fried mozzarella sandwich which was actually very good. There was enough food and it was quite filling. I ate half and took the rest home for lunch the next day. My date orders a hamburger and he was happy with his food. He said he wouldn’t hesitate to return on his off day to chill while I’m at work. There were plenty of televisions with the noon games on display. Overall, it was decent dining experience.

Went here for a work celebration and was pleasantly surprised by the attentive service and delicious food. To me their hallmark is classic food done a little differently. For example, I got the coconut shrimp. Now I’ve had a LOT of coconut shrimp in my life esp in Florida, but I can honestly say I’ve never had one quite like these. They had a nice strong coconut flavor. My co-workers also enjoyed their pretzels and beer cheese and a buffalo chicken mac and cheese as well as the fried egg burger. Just from looks those other dishes were impressive and everyone seemed quite happy with their choices. All in all, the prices aren’t cheap but with so many unique food and beer selections, it’s worth stopping by! P. S. They serve Red Robin style steak fries

First time customer — will surely come back again when in the area. Drove by in the morning and saw a sign which said there is a drive up window for filling up growlers! And serves food… Decided immediately that we will have to try it out later in the evening — after the WOH Airshow. Well, we did and not regretting it. Came back around six pm, the place was not packed but filling up(Saturday evening.) The noise level was very reasonable. We got served immediately– since we were first timers — the waiter was very patient with our indecision on what we are going to order. We finally put in our orders — it came out promptly, correctly, and hot! A rarity these days– to get all three. I ordered Pepere Shrimp Spaghetti — shrimp nicely spiced, spaghetti al dente, rest of the fixins’ added a nice flavor to every bite. If you like a bit of spice and shrimp — you gotta give this a try. As for beers, I went for a double IPA with a 103IBU. That was in a can — and they have a large selection in cans and bottles. They also have a very large selection on tap — at least 52 this Sat evening. I could’ve tried a triple IPA — but I was driving 60 miles home on I-45. Needed to stay alert(and there were some crazy drivers out there tonight.)

We went a few weeks ago and had a wonderful experience. Good food, good beer, and great service I told some friends how great it was and talked them into meeting us there. it was not as great this time. Of course. This place has an extensive beer selection. We came for the beer and got hungry. Paid eight bucks for about 15 pretzel bites and a quarter cup of queso. The queso was good but the pretzels were very sweet. Strange combination. Just bring chips. Still hungry so ordered a ten dollar bacon avocado grilled cheese and I am not kidding when I say it came out ten seconds later. My friend is an ex-server and said, yep, you just got what someone else returned. Fries were hard and cold as was the sandwich. I should have sent it back and complained but I just wanted to have a good time with my friends. it probably would have been good if it weren’t so old and cold. Still hungry so went somewhere else. Come here if you want to try some different beer. Eat somewhere else. My friends gave me the stink-eye after I’d raved about this place. They won’t trust any of my recommendations again.

Wow! Finally Clear Lake is getting something other than the same. old. chain. restaurants! Hubby and I really do not drink beer that often, but I noticed J Henry’s when I was leaving my office one day and thought it might be a place to check out. After reading the GREAT reviews, we did … and we were not disappointed! When we arrived, there really were not that many people here, but that quickly changed! For starters I ordered a cherry sour ale on draught and hubs got a bottle of UFO, since he is a fan of Blue Moon and our server said this was similar. I really enjoyed the cherry sour ale! We ordered the Beer queso with pretzel bites. Wow, so tasty! I have to say I am not a huge queso fan but this was really some of the best I have had. The pretzel bites were warm and soft, too. For my entrée I got the sun dried tomato chicken. The chicken was grilled and had sun dried tomatoes and cream cheese on it. YUM! Hubs got the fried egg burger and he said it was pretty good. I think next time we stop in we will either skip the appetizers or get them and skip the entrees because we were both really full on yummy food! Can’t wait to come back and try a different beer!

This has become one of my favorite spots for lunch when im at work. It’s super convenient and the food is incredible. I have pretty much had the same thing everytime i have been here. Bacon avocado grilled cheese and the tomato soup. The sandwich comes with steak fries which are hot and not greasy at all. They only have 2 tv’s way up high on the wall so im assuming it’s more of a hang out and talk to your friends over beer than a come and watch sports place… which is fine by me! I was worried on my first visit because no one on the staff smiled but the last 2 times i have been service is def improving! Wall of beer shows everything that is on tap but i haven’t had the pleasure of trying any since i haven’t come after my work hours. Of all the places this location has been this is my absolute favorite one and i wish them many many many years of success!

To quote a wise website, «YAY! I’M A FAN.» I can’t believe CLEARLAKE got this place! Clear Lake is getting COOL! Walked in at 10pm on the dot, incidentally the same time the kitchen closes, on a Saturday night. While it was sit anywhere at the time, I didn’t realize they had waiters and waitresses. So I awkwardly hung near the bar reading the extensive(51 taps — 1 cider — 2 wine = 48 beers) drink menu for quite a while. Don’t be like me, if you want a booth, go get one and someone will come to you. We wound up sitting at the bar so I could continue checking out all delicious libations. I sampled a few beers before deciding on the Green Flash DIPA and a Avery Liliko’i Kepolo Wit that had a bit of a sour bite to it. You know how much you’re getting based on the color on the right side of the board — the color coding is found at the end of the bar on the right. I think green is 16oz and pink may be 12oz? You’d have to double check me on that. I was super glad I sat where I did, as I saw an employee drinking an 11 Below brew at the end of the bar — and 11 Below was only 1 of 2 Houston breweries that I didn’t have the scoop on yet. Turns out it was a red IPA called Color Blind and that knowledgable employee was actually the owner! He was super personable and down to earth — clearly passionate about beer and well connected in the craft beer scene. I can’t wait to come back and eat ALL the foods.

I’m hoping to go back soon so I can add a star. They receive my average rating of 3 stars for now. Food was pretty good in general, the price was high though. There are many restaurants in the area where you can find equal quality for less money. For the price we paid, I expected excellence. My steak was okay, but my husband and kids were all disappointed by their food. The actual bar is great though. Love the wide variety and I actually thought the pricing on the beer was reasonable. I’d love to go back and try something else, sadly I think I’ll have to go solo or with friends because my family was not impressed. Give it a try though. I love supporting small businesses and hope they have a long and happy experience in that location. This review is mainly just constructive criticism. This place has greatness potential!

Five stars for beer and ambiance; four stars for food. About 40 beers on draught, all domestic craft beers from all over the US, representing a wide range of styles; only a couple from Houston. About 50 more in bottles and cans. Best beer selection by far in the Clear Lake area. Menu is a good selection of pub food, ranging from snacks to full entrees, carefully selected for compatibility with beer. I had a Brother Thelonius Belgian Strong Dark Ale from North Coast Brewing in Ft Bragg, CA and a Dogfish Head 90 Minute Double IPA in Milton, DE. Wife had chicken poblano soup, I had a Fried Green Tomato BLT. We split an order of fried wontons with mustard. The BLT could have used a couple more slices of T, and the B was a bit raw for my taste. The food took a while to appear. Not a big problem, since it left more time for drinking beer! It’s still early days — J Henry has not yet had their grand opening. This is a fun place now, and should be even better in time.
