Walked in during lunch to find a barber chair ready for me. Great old-school haircut experience. Very happy with the results. Will be back with my son.

Awesome… Awesome… Awesome… My family has followed Augie for over 30 years. He is a barber that you can call YOUR barber. You always get a hair cut and a story.(If you know Augie you know what i mean!) 5STARS!!!

This is really a review of a specific barber rather than the barber shop itself. Augustine(Augie) has been my and my son’s barber since 2001 when my family returned to Houston from overseas. I have followed Augie around town from a shop near Dairy-Ashford and Memorial, to a shop near Memorial City Mall to this location where Augie is now the proprietor. Hair is a strange commodity. Because how we wear it has a major impact on how most of the world perceives us, most of us(guys too) spend much more time, attention and cash on it than is intrinsically warranted. A consequence of this for me is that if I find a barber I like, I’ll hang onto him or her at all costs. Augie is that sort of barber. He is old school, knows exactly how to cut my and my son’s hair, and has a jovial disposition. When he’s finished and my son and I(we traditionally always go together to get haircuts) look much better than we did when we walked in, it’s nice to know I’m paying only around $ 30(with tip) for both of us. The shop itself is fit-for-purpose: bare except the barber’s chairs and chairs on which you can sit and read old magazines whilst waiting. It reminds me of 40 years ago when my dad used to get haircuts with me…
