Absolutely delicious, we got pork fried rice and I think we can eat that for a week they give you so much and the people that work there so freaking nice the dumplings Yum Yum Yum the pork spare ribs Best of ever had in Houston!!! This is my new favorite place!!!

Only eaten here once, had the beef and broccoli off the lunch menu. Came with beef and broccoli, a big egg roll, fried rice, and a bowl of soup for about $ 7.50. All around great service and cant complain about one thing. Will definitely be going back for lunch and ordering take out.

Best Chinese restaurant ever. We usually get the Chicken Corn Soup, Pan Fried Dumplings, Fried Rice, and Cheese Puffs. Every item is amazing. Service is also excellent. We are regulars so when we walk the door they start the order. Very quick service! I’m also a huge fan of the pickles cabbage they put on the tables as soon as you sit down. But the chicken corn soup is the main reason we come. Love it!

We love this local Chinese restaurant! My hubby and I always do take-​out from here! The service is phenomenal and the staff is friendly. We always call ahead on our way home and the orders typically take 15 – 20 minutes for pickup.
Everything from the hot & sour soup, dumplings down to the chicken & garlic are great. The fried rice is delicious and pairs well with everything. I always opt for an eggroll and the fresh spicy mustard (extremely hot for those looking for mild flavor). The portions are rather large, perfect for sharing!
This place totally deserves 5 stars! Thanks for serving up some great Chinese food!

I am a student at UHCL and I eat dinner here very often. The service is very welcoming and friendly. My favorite dish is the Chicken with Broccoli and its absolutely delicious! The amount they give you is enough to eat there and have more left to take out.

LOVE the fried rice. Love everything we’ve ordered. We always order Togo. They prepare quickly. He guy at the front is so nice. Sometimes he gives my daughter something to drink while we wait. Best Chinese in that area.

We just moved to the Clear Lake area and tried Hunan Star for Take-​Out based on other Unilocal Reviews. It definitely lived up to our expectations. We had the Sweet & Sour Chicken, General Tso’s Chicken, and the Combo Lo-​Mein along with egg rolls. Our total bill was reasonable ($ 40 approximately) and it was ready in a timely manner (15 to 20 minutes). The only disappointment was with the General Tso’s. It was good, but I have had a lot better at other places. The sweet and sour sauce was a little spicy, and while my wife and I liked it, it was a little to spicy for our 8 and 10 year olds. The Lo-​Mein and egg rolls were by far the best things we got! My youngest who is a picky eater ate both like there was no tomorrow. The next time we get take out, it will definitely include the Lo-​Mein and eggrolls!
All in all, we enjoyed the food and will definitely being getting food from them often. I look forward to trying different dishes from them in the future.

I don’t really think much about reviewing most places most of the time. My gf wanted Chinese and we sought Unilocal for assistance and were astounded by the number of great reviews so we decided to give it a go.
Man were we pleased. Delivery — exceptional (30 mins) Packaging — exceptional (all items incl sauce, sides, utensils) Taste — PERFECT by far one of the best dishes I’ve had and I always get the same thing when I order Chinese, Triple Delight. We just moved in a month ago and this place has my business for sure. It will be reoccurring incredibly fast if this remains consistent. Great job guys!

This is like most typical Chinese restaurants you’ll find all across the US. While not really «bad» in any way, it isn’t anything special.
We had the Shrimp Toast, Chicken in Garlic Sauce, Orange Beef and General’s Tso’s Chicken. I realize that the majority of those are Americanized, but I digress…
They serve a complimentary cabbage quick-​pickle. Sweet and vinegary. Interesting, but not my thing. I have always loved shrimp toast and it was good, with the exception that the largest piece wasn’t cooked through, leaving me with raw frozen Shrimp in my mouth. Mistakes happen, so I let it slide. The Garlic Chicken was tasty, but lacked real garlic flavor and was a little too sweet. I’d eat it again should I return. The Orange Beef, which I ordered extra spicy, had one pepper and a really light sauce. I was able to ask for chili paste, which was good and roasted. I wouldn’t get this again. The General’s Chicken seemed to have the same sauce and was over battered. I don’t typically order this but it was my wife’s dish and she didn’t care for it.
As others have said, the management and wait staff are very nice and accommodating. The establishment is close to our new home, so we might get takeout if we’re feeling lazy in the future. Otherwise, there are better options within 5 miles.

The food is bland and the customer service is horrible. I have never been treated so bad in my life. As soon as I walk in the guy at the front desk told me to take the menu w/​me and leave. No, «hi how are you I’ll be with you in a second» or anything !! Never again will I step foot in this place !!!

Read the reviews about this place and came expecting the food to be really good and I must say I was not disappointed! Great customer service and orders are served in a timely manner. You won’t be disappointed!

Lunch specials are the way to go! Best value for $ 7 – 8. The #2 (options of pork or chicken, I love the chicken) is the best and full of so much flavor. It’s unlike any other Chinese dish I’ve tried. The staff is super friendly and remembers you when you walk in the door. I guess that happens when you go once a week! The dinner portion of this dish is huge! My dad and I learned that tow people could easily split the dinner portion. It’s perfect if you need the left overs for lunch the next day. And the left overs are just as good as if it were fresh! Oh, and if you get the lunch special, stick with the egg roll! It’s so good and filling. The cheese puff thing (the other option) isn’t as good.

Great chicken fried rice! Only $ 6 and you get your money’s worth. When we order for pick-​up it only takes them 5 – 10 mins for the food to be ready. The staff is SO nice!!!

One of my favorite restaurants, my best friend and I have been eating here for several years. Sometimes once a week. When we invite a third or fourth, and they ask what’s good we say: «Everything!»
Owner is very friendly, as is the staff. The dining area is quaint and a quiet place to dine. I couldn’t recommend another restaurant more than Hunan Star.

I’ve been coming here for 30+ years. They have the best egg-​rolls in the Clear Lake area. I used to come here about once a month until a place came along that has my kind of General Tso’s Chicken. They have very good Chinese food, but my favorite is General Tso’s Chicken and the way theirs is prepared doesn’t appeal to me. I always get the hot shredded pork here, which is excellent.
They’ve begun to suffer because a giant CVS drug store was built directly in front of them, blocking view from the street. So as time passes people forget they’re there. Also it has stripped the parking from immediately in front, so you have to park a little distance away. This is all too bad because they’re probably the best Chinese restaurant in the area.
Oh yes, they have the best egg rolls in the area — probably because they’re crisp, but why-​ever they’re good.
