Food(4⁄5) — I ordered the Hubcap Decker with a fried egg which is basically a double meat double cheese burger with all of the classic toppings and the Hell Fries which come with jalapeños and spicy mayo sauce. The burger was excellent and probably enough for two. The fries were also delicious but I was not able to finish them due to how full I became. Next time I come, I will probably just order a specialty burger without the fries or a plain cheeseburger with specialty fries. The price is a bargain for how much food they give you. Service(4⁄5) — The service was quick and nice. Order at the counter and wait until your number is called to pick it up. Utensils, napkins, and water are self serve. Ambience(5⁄5) — The restaurant is the perfect off the road burger joint. It has indoor and lots of outdoor seating and the outdoor seating has a junkyard feel(very clean though!), lined with car bumpers, and«hubcaps» on the fences. They also play music outdoors, mostly rock, though I am not sure about the inside. I have never seen anything like it and it made for a unique and memorable setting.

Hubcap grill has a very good burger. I had the philly steak burger and was very impressed. I didn’t like the idea that I can’t order it «my way». For instance, if I order a hamburger to-go, I like to put everything on the side so when I get to my destination the burgers not soggy… but no way, don’t even ask, there is actually a sign posted at the order window which states that very message. Other than that, very satisfied.

Philly Cheese steak burger with bacon cheese fries. That’s all you need to order and trust me your taste buds will be singing to the food gods in heaven. This has to be the best burger and fries meal I have had in a very long time in Houston. Definitely the best for the Heights area. They now accept credit cards which is nice as before it was cash or debit only. They have a great beer selection and small soda offerings but you can bring your own cup with whatever you’d like as most all of the seating is outside. I don’t know if they actually offer that or not but they’ve never stopped me or asked me not too. Everything is made fresh to order which I love. Sometimes the line can get crazy long and since everything is made fresh you could easily wait a while. I’ve been here and had a 5 minute wait and I’ve been here and waited over an hour. Either way, for a good greedy burger in the Heights, it’s totally worth it.

This place is overhyped as the place to get the best burgers/fries. I went for simple(mushroom swiss) and that’s exactly what I got. Though the meat on the burgers were fresh, my burger tasted ordinary, like something I could have made in my backyard barbecue. There wasn’t even any grilled mushroom juice that I’d normally get from ordering a mushroom swiss burger. Perhaps I needed to order something that was more exotic on their menu to truly appreciate all the reviews I’ve read about this place. In summary, I though the burger and fries are decent. Nothing stood out that made me want to come back to try their other burgers and fries options.

Great burgers! Not so great patio… for the amount you spend on a burger, you’d think this place would have nicer outdoor seating. It’s hot, put out some practical patio seating with umbrellas. Put up more fans. Clean up the yard. Simple yard work will do.

This place makes some of the funkiest specialty burgers around. They use great ingredients and definitely make some damn good burgers. I wouldn’t really mess around with getting the gimmicky burgers, the components don’t really become more than the sum of its parts. I got the frito pie burger, while it was good, i felt like there was little synergy. I liked the other burgers people got much more that were simple. They also have some great fry combos, id check those out. Overall id definitely come back.

I love a good patio! Perfect weather, cold beer, good food. The Hell fries were a hit with us both. This was our first trip here and we enjoyed it.

After hearing about this place, I decided to try it. It’s decent hamburger, overpriced and overrated. Nothing special about this hamburger.

This place has pretty good burgers and a good atmosphere. Located in the north part of the Heights, it’s relatively secluded and parking is easy to find. Mostly outdoor seating with a small indoor area. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed. Surprising since again, seating is mostly available outside. They mostly just serve variations of the hamburger. I had the cheeseburger and my companion had the burger with peanut butter. I had a taste — interesting but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend. The cheeseburger and fries were decent. They also have specialty fries with different toppings and sauces. They serve soft drinks and beer. Counter service. Overall, this place is decent. I would probably return for the simplicity of the establishment, quick service, and good food. I would definitely returned if they allowed me to bring my dog :)

I ordered the Sticky Burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was ok. It was my first time trying peanut butter on a burger, but the peanut butter they used tasted a little off. The patty was way over salted as were the fries. The hamburger itself was a decent size and would have been a great value if I had been able to enjoy it a little more. I love that the sweet potato fries are a little crispy and not soggy, but after chomping into some that tasted like the potato had gone bad, I was done. I placed my order over the phone and the lady was really nice. I might have to try them again to see if this was an isolated experience, because I was trying something new, or some other fluke.

Had the greek burger. Boyfriend had the double decker and we split the texas fries. Patties were well seasoned but it was really the feta cheese that made my burger. The music/atmposhere combo ws a little strang as it was nine inch nails and we were sitting next to a little leauge table. But… The heights I suppose. Also, recommendation for the owners– serve the loaded fries, same portion but on a bigger plate. It was really hard to handle and we lost a few good men falling off on to the table. Will return. :)

Great burgers! I had the hubcap decker and it was ginormous! Yes that’s a word… Now. It was declicious! It had just enough grease to let you know it’s legit. The fries… Well they’re okay but could’ve been better. I feel like twice frying it might not workout so well. I also tried the muffelata burger too and it was good. Also tried the Cajun hot specialty fries and oh boy it’s a fireball in your mouth!

Love this place! The muffaletta burger is delicious! The relish is fresh and crisp. Had it with the stink fries, which weren’t to my taste, hell fries are much more flavorful and spicy! What a fun, outdoor little shack. Ample parking and very friendly staff! Updating: went Friday evening to meet some out of town friends. My muffaletta burger was not as fresh as the last time. Bun was soggy on one side, which hasn’t happened before. Thinking lunchtime would be better for the fresh olive relish. Hubs had the jalapeño cheeseburger — he said it was awesome. Hell fries were very spicy! It was all good, just wish my muffaletta relish had need as fresh as usual.

Amazing atmosphere. Humble. Friendly. Family oriented place. Burger Review: First I ordered the Black and Blue Burger which had bleu cheese crumbles as well as Bleu cheese dressing. It sounded amazing, but as I was ordering I saw a fresh burger coming out on the window. It looked amazing! It was the Philly Cheesesteak Burger so I had to switch my decision over and I wasn’t dissapointed. Patty, steak, melted cheese, onions, peppers, and a Chipotle mayo.(I think?) Some burger spots in houston choose the wrong types of buns for their burgers but this place did a great job at keeping a classic tasting bun with great ways to create their burgers. I’ll be back again and again. I also have to try the downtown location. :)

Hubcap grill can be hit or miss. They’ve got too many options on their menu and it was a bit overwhelming. I feel like you need to know what to get in order to like/enjoy this place. I got the Hubcap Decker and the Country Fries from their specialty burgers/fries menu. Hubcap Decker: the burger was humongous with two ground beef patties and a toast layered in between toasted buns. I took leftovers home, microwaved it and I think I enjoyed it more tbh. Country Fries: never again. I totally misread country cream gravy and was expecting poutine style fries. I was wrong. The fries with cream gravy with bacon bits didn’t blend well together at all and the fries were very soggy. I tried my friend’s sweet potato fries and the crispness was definitely right on point — highly recommend. Overall, it was a okay meal, not the best. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea for them to cut down and have a smaller menu in my opinion.

I live literally a couple streets from Hubcap, so it’s amazing how I’ve never been here before. Actually, I know why I’ve never been here before — less than flexible hours, relatively small parking lot, INSANELYBUSY… But hey, I love burgers, and I thought I would give a local burger joint a try, especially one that has lots of specialty options. The line moves slooooowly, but eventually you’ll be able to order — I got the Sticky Burger, which is pretty much a cheeseburger with bacon and peanut butter on it. Suuuuuper unimpressive and really not that great, since it’s mostly mushy with no textures going on(it’s crunchy PB, but it’s not enough!). Contrast Sticky with the Hubcap Decker, which is pretty much a housemade Big Mac — MUCH better overall, and it even has vegetables! Healthy! I think Hubcap has some good ideas, but they’re definitely hit or miss. There are just so many other burger options in Houston that I personally can’t justify returning again unless someone REALLY wanted to eat here.

Came here for an impromptu weekday lunch with a friend primarily based on positive Unilocal reviews and also because this was listed on Alison Cook’s Top 100 Houston Restaurants of 2015. Well this place was definitely a disappointment. I love love love burgers!!! My last meal of choice on Earth would be a medium rare, juicy cheeseburger. Well, this place definitely did not live up to my expectations. We arrived here before 1pm on a Tuesday and there were a handful of people enjoying lunch on the outside patio. Parking is fairly limited outside this place so I can’t even imagine where I would park if I came here on a busy night. The outdoor patio is pretty big with a nice, chill atmosphere. Lots of picnic style tables are available and great for big groups. There’s an old fashioned juke box playing music and it’s an overall great place to hang and relax. Orders are taken at the window and the menu is displayed high up above the order window. There is a fair amount of specialty burgers and a decent selection of beers as well. There was no line when we came so we ordered within 2 minutes upon arrival. The lady who took our order was not very approachable but got the job done. We were given a ticket number which they call on the loud speaker once available. Being fairly quiet on a Tuesday afternoon, we were surprised it took about 15+ minutes for our order to be ready. We assumed it was a good sign as they make all their burgers fresh. I ordered the Ranch BLT Burger which included bacon, lettuce, tomato, swiss cheese, and ranch dressing. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well– I guess that’s why it took 15 minutes to receive my order :(The burger was thin and tasteless, and overall it literally just tasked like bread and ranch dressing. The ranch dressing was so overwhelming I don’t think I even tasted the bacon that was included in the sandwich. For our side we shared the Texas fries which includes chili, cheese, jalapeños, onions, and hot sauce. These fries tasted like srirachi-soaked greasy french fries– I didn’t taste a hint of chili, cheese, or onions and the jalapenos were big green peppers– not the thin authentic jalapeños I had expected. Overall, I was quite disappointed after dining here as this has been on my Houston must try burger list.

This place’s atmosphere was super cute. Great for hanging outside on a gorgeous day with friends! It even has a jukebox to enjoy music. The girl at the window wasn’t as nice as they she could have been, but it wasn’t a damper. You only have to deal with waitstaff when you order. They have a huge menu to choose from! It was super overwhelming to figure out what I wanted, which is a good thing in my book! They also have a large beer selection, which was nice too. I decided on the sticky monkey burger, which was a risk because it comes with the burger, bacon, peanut butter and banana. I was pleasantly surprised with how it tasted! Much better than I expected. My friend got the ranch BLT burger, and didn’t love it. She said it really tasted like nothing but ranch. We both asked for our burgers medium rare, but they both came out medium well. Still good flavor though! We also ordered the Texas fries, but neither of us enjoyed those. They were pretty much just normal fries sopped with Sriracha, which made them soggy. All in all, not my favorite burger place in Houston, but I would definitely go back for the atmosphere.

Decent spot to get a hand-formed patty. Their burger has been voted best burger in the city. I know so many other places that make a better burger though. I finally made it to their Heights location and wasn’t super impressed with their basic burger with 2 patties. It was big, yes, but it was also very greasy. The table also ordered the bacon cheese fries and these were alright even though I typically love hand cut fries. I think it was the cheese that ruined it for me. It seemed to be a combination of both melted shredded cheddar and a cheese sauce… didnt like it. I was relieved to find they had an indoor seating area on a hot day, but the a/c wasn’t nearly cold enough and my party of 6 were all still pretty hot in there. FYI, they carry their own label of root beer(with a few other flavors as well), but it’s bottled by a company that does private labeling for a few other restaurants here in town(i.e. Blake’s, Leibman’s, Otto’s BBQ, etc.) so I’m willing to bet it tastes similar too… which isn’t anything special. Self-proclaimed root beer snob here. Prices were pretty reasonable, but I probably won’t be coming back anytime soon

They love to display how sloppy they are. I was so disgusted with the open dumpster(put the cover on it, man.) and trash bags near the patio to invite flies. This is all outdoor seating. I have to agree with my Unilocaler friends’ opinions — poor service and pricey. I ordered a Greek Fries — Feta cheese with Hubcap sauce. While I was forking my fries, I saw a string. I asked myself, «feta cheese doesn’t melt and where did this cheese string come from?» Holy cow, it was a human hair. I was recommended by my friends to get a refund for this grotesque scene. But I was so involved with the conversation and didn’t want to make a big scene in front of a long line of customers. I just scooped it aside. I’d come back for some of their tasty homemade root beer. I was disappointed with the menu. If you have digestion problem, this is not the place for you. There isn’t anything to take a break from meats and fried stuff.
