Ordered a Pepper’s burger which came with a side of waffle fries. The onions and green peppers definitely brought up fajitas in my mind but the hamburger patty reminded me of what I was eating. Nothing fancy but it was juicy and just right for me. The waffle fries were crispy and not soggy like most other places. Definitely worth the $ 8.

Peppers is a great lunch spot. I came here for lunch in mid-00’s with my coworkers back in the day on a pretty regular basis. After many years, I’m glad to find that this place is still here! They’ve been open since 2005, I believe. All I remember from back then is that my coworkers recommended the flautas for lunch, and it would be the only meal I’d order ever since. When I order flautas at other places — it’s rarely done as well as they do here. Peppers offers flautas(taco flutes) in chicken or beef. Each order comes with 4 flautas that are about 9 inches(or 2.44 dm) in length. Crispy on the outside, tender meat on the inside — with a mound of lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, avocado, and sour cream. The salsa and trimmings here are homemade. They offer counter service, and the workers are prompt and courteous. I haven’t tried very many other items on their menu, but maybe someday I’ll venture from the flautas here.

I stopped by the other day because I was in the neighborhood. It looked pretty legit since almost every in line was a Spanish speaking laborer. There were so many enticing options. I ended up requesting the special of the day: Hawaiian hamburger. I know, I probably should have gone for a taco or torta, but the pineapple was calling my name. Funny story is that while waiting, the cashier informs me that they’ve run out of bread for hamburgers. Instead, she gave me a beef fajita torta with some of the toppings of the Hawaiian burger — which was delicious! It came with a side of waffle fries since my original order had those bundled with it. The interior itself isn’t all that exciting and I think that the soda dispenser has been broken for some time. The water I got out of it tasted a little strange. Most people order Mexican cokes or other canned soft drinks. I’ll definitely have to go back and try out the tacos.

The sopes are good, a bit small, but authentic. You don’t find these in many places in Houston.

A great place to come sit down and eat. The Tortas are my favorite. Real authentic Mexican food, with fast good prices. I don’t understand why anyone would choose some corporate taco place over the quality food at Peppers.

Ok Unilocal, Just like NPR, I have been using and abusing your service without contributing. Time to pay up(sorry NPR, you still cost money, Unilocal is just time). I am going to have to limit myself to style of writing, because I hate writing(and reading for that matter). So, one over all comment, and then the important things all rated by numbers. Pepper’s Hamburgers & Tacos… why would you name yourself that!!! Wierd name, and havent tried the ‘hamburgers’. What it is is a delicious, authentic Mexican food joint. Tortas, Sopes, and taquitos are amazing. The place needs some updating, but dont let the décor fool you. Food: 5 Drinks: n/a(but BYOB) Service: 5 Ambiance: 1.5(take THAT Unilocal,I allow ‘½’ ratings) Price: 4 Overall: I go regularly and so should you.

I never ate there, but it was on the Channel 2 Rat and Roach report this week. It was infested so bad with roaches, that it had to be closed instantly. That’s BAD! Might want to eat somewhere else. They obviously not worried about you getting sick and vomiting for days. Plenty of clean places to eat. Skip this roach motel.

Just had Pepper’s for the first time and I am so happy there is a good authentic Mexican place walking distance from my house. The sopes were amazing and the staff was very friendly. The high chairs were also clean which is nice too.

Awesome little place. Great service, lots of salsas, fantastic sopes. All of the tortillas are homemade, and everything is deliciously fresh. It beats out the other taco joints by far.

Great tortas and tacos. I haven’t tried the hamburgers yet though a dining companion was advised that they were not like typical American burgers, but Mexican style burgers. Great carne asada, try it in a taco on corn tortilla with cheese, the original quesadilla. For my version of comfort food, nothing beats a bean and cheese mollete. A mollete is an open faced torta roll with refried beans and melted cheese. You can get the molletes with chorizo too, but I find the chorizo to be a little too salty and greasy. Dine in and watch some Mexican league soccer or get it to go. Very affordably priced and the owners/staff are very friendly.
