When my Prius delivered a slew of lights and messages that I didn’t understand, I took it to another place to get an estimate of what needed to be done. He gave me a long list of what was wrong with my car, including my hybrid battery, which apparently was on it’s way to its deathbed.($ 3000 dollars!) My friend sent me a link to an article, which featured a small company called Hometown Hybrids, which had lower prices than most other hybrid battery places. I set up an appointment and they came out to ME on my own time and was going to install it in my apartment garage, but after the installer, Matthew, ran a few tests, he said that my hybrid battery was actually working fine. He told me he didn’t want to waste my money and that if I didn’t need a replacement, he didn’t want to install it.(Most shops and auto-repair companies would have taken my money without any further questions!) He also seemed to know my Prius inside and out, and explained to me the battery processes. While my case wasn’t like most, because I didn’t have the battery installed, I am extremely impressed with the company’s honesty and integrity, and I highly recommend Hometown Hybrids for any issues that might come up with your pesky hybrids.

Like others here, I was greatly saddened when our family hand-me-down ’05 Prius generated the dreaded code for«replace hybrid battery pack». My oldest daughter relies heavily on this car and couldn’t afford to replace it even though it currently has more than 250K miles on the clock. After doing some preliminary checking, I was about ready to call a scrap yard to pick it up. Estimates ranged from $ 3400 — $ 5500 for the repair. I would have to leave an envelope with $ 3000 in the glove box to make the car worth $ 5000 so repairing it at that price seemed like a fools errand. And then I found a little company in Houston called Hometown Hybrids. I sent them an e-mail and left a voicemail on their phone and crossed my fingers. An hour or so later, I got an e-mail from Jessica(the owner) letting me know that they could do the replacement here in the DFW area for $ 1100 with a rebuilt battery covered by a 12 month warranty. Even though that price still stings a bit, it was much more affordable and realistic for a 10 year old car with high mileage. Jessica followed up with a phone call and discussed the options further and explained their service. She said they currently had a bit of a backlog and it would be about a week before they could do the repair. I told her to put me on the list and call me when they could squeeze me in. The following Monday, she reached out and said they had an opening on Thursday between 12:00 and 2:00. Would that work for us? Why heck yeah! I was really excited to see that level of service. A two hour repair window? I can’t get my phone company or cable company to do that… She told me the tech would call me about an hour before he arrived and asked me to have the back seat and trunk area cleaned out so he would be able to access the battery. On Thursday about 11:10, I got a call from Shea. He said he was on the way and should arrive in about an hour. Low and behold, at 12:05, Shea pulled up in front of our house in a white Prius. He introduced himself and we talked for a minute before he got to work. I immediately had a good feeling about him and was confident he would do a good job. He started off by hooking into the cars computer system and checking the codes and running diagnostics. He confirmed the prior diagnosis of a bad battery pack before he started actually working which I really appreciated. I proceeded to do the thing that most techs hate. I sat there and watched him work, asking questions every now and then but otherwise trying to stay out of the way. He was very careful and methodical and explained what he was doing as he went along. In less than 20 minutes, he had the old battery pack out. About 35 minutes worth of work was required to install the new battery pack. He tested it in the car as soon as it was installed to verify that it was working correctly before reinstalling all the trim panels. After some final checks, we signed the paperwork, I paid and he was off to do another one! Overall, a great experience from start to finish with some really good folks. I hope I don’t need another battery pack soon but if I do, I know who to call. I can’t recommend these guys highly enough.

I have just had a most remarkable experience! The high voltage battery(the hybrid battery) on my Prius failed. Faced with the prospect of having to pay somewhere in the $ 4000 range for a new battery, we did some searching and discovered Prius Battery Repair of Houston. I contacted them and today Matthew came to me and in less than an hour, replaced my battery with a refurbished battery for $ 1000, everything included. He is very knowledgeable, efficient, organized, worked cleanly, and is one of the friendliest people I’ve ever dealt with! I cannot state too highly what a stellar company this is, and what a fascinating experience it was! He welcomed my watching the entire process, answered questions as he went, explained a lot about the whole thing, and then sat and waited patiently for me to take it for a test drive. Jessica, the owner, communicated with me all along the process from my first contact with them, and her communications set the stage for a truly flawless experience! Forbes wrote an article about her and the business, and they’re right on the money! The battery has a year’s warranty, and I think it is significant that they’ve never had to replace a battery within a year. If you have a hybrid(they service more than just Priuses) or if you know someone who drives a hybrid and you or they experience problems with your HV battery, you cannot do better than Prius Battery Repair of Houston!

Just like the other reviews; houston battery repair is on point. Jessica called me made the appointment within the next week my car was running again. No price change like the«stealership» or last minute problems. I’ve since recommended them to other prius owners in my area and am so grateful that their business is honest and trustworthy. Thank you for the blessing, y’all are awesome.

Are you kidding me? When the dash board on my 2005 Toyota Prius(210,000 miles), lit up with more red lights than the space shuttle… I knew my star ship was grounded… all due to the dreaded(not if, but when) dead hybrid battery. Now, how to pony up with the $ 4000-$ 5000 required by Toyota, to get this thing running again. Obtain a small business loan? Get a second mortgage on my trailer home? Engineer a new Ponzi scheme? Enter that wonderful Jessica and superman Mr-Fix-It-Morgan, of Prius Battery Repair of Houston. They had me off and running again… with a new re-manufactured hybrid battery(complete with a one year unlimited mile warranty), all for less simoleons, than I would normally spend at a bar on a typical Friday night. Now I’m running around in my Prius just as always… like a herd of thundering turtles… and happier than the day my ex, walked off with Pepe the pool boy! –Parker

Prius Battery Repair of Houston really saved the day. I was understandably freaked out when the POA80 code registered on my 2004 Prius. It was out of warranty with 135k miles and over 10 years old. I was afraid I might have to buy a new battery which was almost as expensive as what I paid for my Prius 2 months ago. I contacted many repair services and dealerships to inquire about what it was going take to get back on the road. In the end I somewhat blindly hired Prius Battery Repair of Houston to do the job and I was pleasantly surprised at what I got. There were no surprises in the process at all. Within a week of contacting PBRH, an agreement had been reached, a technician came to my home in Houston and my rebuilt hybrid battery was installed with a 1 year warranty. The price was right too — not a dime over the advertised amount(I paid in cash). I received a professional signed contract and have full confidence in this company to honor the warranty. Now I’m back on the road and still loving my Prius. — Patrick
