Totally awesome wonderful and magic place! It’s in an inch-worm building, i.e. several buildings running into each other at weird angles with probably some later additions in the mix. They have EVERYTHING! I think I saw some of the spare parts to Christopher Columbus’ ships sitting on a shelf. Just joking, but they sure have merchandise that’s different from the big chain stores. It’s marvelous to just walk around and look at the gazillion things old and new, some of them almost museum quality. Staff is very knowledgeable and always around without being intrusive or pushy. We go there on Sundays for gawking expeditions and usually end up with some small treasure or another. The prices are totally in line with the big stores, and you can park smack in front of the door. A real find, there are not too many places like this one left. Go and check it out, you’ll love it.

Last week I needed a specific type of bathroom bulb. They had it. Done. Last year, literally every hardware store in Houston had sold out of those xmas lights you line driveways with & I was in a bind with a big gathering the next night. They had them in stock. Done. Nice staff, big store — reminds me of the good ol’ days.

As part of feathering my nest, I needed to have some extra keys made to my new place. Why, you ask? You want to entrust the keys to your kingdom to someone who will be readily available yet not be running into your house at(ahem) awkward moments. I could have gone back to the Ace Hardware in the Westchase area [the one with the hidden post office in the back] but I thought I’d check this place out since I wanted to hit the close-by Lowe’s and Best Buy afterwards. This hardware store sits in a tatty area that has so far escaped the healing aura of the Gulfgate Mall renovations — I guess magical economic power can only go so far. [Bailout wizards pay attention!] But, the outside appearance hides a veritable treasure trove of hardware booty inside. It has a lot of square footage and harks back to an old-school style of hardware store. But, the clincher was the amiable, low-pressure staff members who roamed the aisles asking gently if I needed anything. Nothing close to a testosterone-soaked«Hardware UFC» face-off was going on. I handed over the set of keys, explained what I wanted, and the dude toddled off to make them while I eyeballed the merchandise in the quiet store. Later, when I claimed my keys($ 1.99 each), I explained another issue I was having with a chair and we talked about what I discovered could be a solution and its merits. Again, no judgments — just friendly, calm advice. Overall, I’d say that this amply-sized store pretty much has what you’ll need — and what you didn’t know you’ll need — without the«big box» warehouse feeling of the national behemoths. Whether you’re Tim Allen from«Tool Time», Lt. Ripley(from the Alien series), or Vida Boheme, you’ll be comfortable shopping for solutions here.

Great friendly staff! Been to the store multiple times and the staff is always willing to help me find solutions to my home improvement problems. This hardware store is very convenient since it does not swallow you whole like most of the giant hardware chains. You can park right up the to door and find whatever you need in a matter of minutes. I would highly recommend this store!
