PLEASEREAD! I am having to rewrite this due to the establishment reporting my post and I didn’t see it in time to fight the report. With that said I’ll keep it short. I witnessed the bartender, I believe named Nick, put a straw in several people’s long neck beers. A girl almost choked on it. When confronted he denied the allegations(even though I saw him do it). He then proceeds to treat the girl and the entire party she was with horribly and give them bad service for the rest of the night. In addition, I have seen bad treatment like this periodically from him(another reason I stopped going there). In addition here is an overview: –Beers are never cold, always warm(how is this possible?) NOEXAGGERATION –bartenders seriously can’t make any mix drink. ANY. If it’s more than Coke and rum, expect the drink to be made wrong or just outright bad –service is almost always bad –steak night is not bad, but smoke is always in your face from the grill –I’ve seen rats go into the holes in the floor boards next to where you throw the darts(has this been fixed?) –laid back place to go, but your paying the same price as you would for any bar that is 1000000x better just a block or 2 away. If your willing to settle on a place like this, be my guest. But read this review and then look around at the other possibilities you have. This is my last option of the day. Isn’t it weird that after you read a few bad reviews about Front Porch there is always that one review sounding fake? Like someone was asked to write it?

Management cannot possibly be serious, if the mess we were served is an example? LUKE warm draft beer. Cold beer is too much to expect? $ 8 for 8 round chunks of cold, grossly over-cooked chicken, with absolutely NOTHING else. Not a single piece of celery. Not a slice of carrot. NO garnish of ANY kind. Just 8 pieces smaller than a golf ball, «dumped» into a paper cup, & not 1 of the orders was served with the sauce requested. Not 1. This is truly the sloppiest food presentation we have ever gotten at any food establishment anywhere in Houston. Ever. Never received chicken pieces with breading this thick & disgusting, which is partly why 1 bite was all it took before passing on this dry, totally tasteless stuff. A hamburger ordered medium rare, arrived cooked beyond well done, with COLD bacon on top, & in keeping with the sloppy kitchen service, was served with ZERO lettuce, tomato & onion. Is this too much for the kitchen to remember? A salad was also served on a paper plate with visible stained finger prints on the edges — was it ketsup, steak sauce, or what??? — on which was piled a handful of warm, WILTED, brown-edged lettuce. The chicken on the salad was the ONLY item not immediately worthy of the garbage. To add injury to complete insult, when our bill arrived we all noted that NONE of our beer orders had been priced at happy hour prices, but had been rung up at regular price, even though ALL of our drink orders had been placed between 615&645P, BEFORE happy hour ended at 7P. When we questioned the pricing the wait person politely pointed out: «you didn’t ask for the check until 7:28 which is the time printed on your check — see here». Are you kidding me? Apparently even IF you order DURING happy hour, if you don’t request your check BEFORE the end of happy hour, you will be charged regular higher pricing. We would normally have asked for a manager & challenged such nonsense, but by this time we just wanted out of the place. None of our group would return for free, let alone pay for it. Does management pay ANY attention to what goes on in this kitchen, since they apparently do not pay attention to what comes OUT of it.

To start, the«managers» are AWESOME. It appears they promote people that have amazing social skills. Hazel and Stephanie love life and always have the«that puppy is SOCUTE» look. Vanessa loves her job more and more as time passes and looks at you with caring eyes. Nirali is extremely nice and always is quick, responsive, and enthusiastic. Someone is always sweeping and cleaning keeping the place clean and open. I LOVE the cleanliness, and I ALWAYS enjoy the place. Steak night should be renamed to amazing night. They cook the steaks in the perfect spot to make sure the aroma of these glorious cuts of meat entices all who pass by. I suggest bringing many friends every night. I love all the music and can use the jukebox to play my favorite song(Hello — Adelle). EVERYSINGLETIME I PARTYHARD. The TV placements are perfect and they can be seen from any seat. Parking is alright but it’s the same throughout midtown. Christian, YOUDAMAN. Whoever owns this place clearly knows how to provide a great time with great people! Please don’t review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Lack luster service. Promotes Trivia Night, but often have random«technical difficulties» which aren’t communicated and where the staff doesn’t try to fix any issues or help in any way. Trivia is a waste of time. Disappointing all around, but lots of draft options.

First off, the«managers» are awful. For the most part, it seems like they promote people as long as they have zero social skills. Hazel and Stephanie hate life and always have the«my dog got run over right in front of me» look. Vanessa hates her job more and more as time passes and looks at you with judging eyes like she may want to slit your throat. Nirali is nice but can be slow, lazy, and annoying at times. Someone is always sweeping and cleaning while the bar is still open. I’m all for cleanliness but it shouldn’t be done while people are eating and trying to enjoy the place. Steak night should be renamed to smoke night. They cook the steaks in the perfect spot to make sure everyone gets to receive the maximum amount of smoke and it’s hard to see 2 feet in front of you. I suggest bringing a respirator or gas mask on this night. I literally put so much money in the jukebox that my name is listed as the house dj. EVERYSINGLETIME I have to ask them to turn the volume up so we can hear the songs I play. The TV placements suck and there aren’t enough of them. Parking is awful but it’s the same throughout midtown. Being that I spend as much as I do here, It pisses me off when I am told I can’t park in their lot whenever I want, simply because they want the spot for themselves. Snooze, you lose Christian. Whoever owns this place clearly doesn’t have a clue how to run a business. He should sell it to someone who does and clean house in terms of staffing.

I love this place. I live across the street so I find myself here quite often. The pub food is surprisingly delicious. Great place if you like taking your dogs with you as well. They do trivia night on Tuesday nights which is always fun and interesting.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and dogs to enjoy some fresh air and a pause in the current awful rainy weekends this past month in Houston. This bar has no private lot so you must find street parking which was kinda annoying. However, on the Saturday afternoon we came here we only had to circle the block once to find free, parallel parking on a random street a block away. The outside area of Front Porch Pub is a fairly good size. They have picnic style tables which is great for big groups. Although the place was half empty when we arrived, my husband still had to go inside to get service for us out on the patio. The waitresses were all friendly but not the most attentive bunch. Service was a bit slow for us so I can’t imagine how it’s like here on a busy weekend night in Midtown. They have a full bar that includes a fairly good selection of national and local beers as well as a specialty cocktail menu. I got a moscow mule type cocktail which was pretty strong. We also ordered the extra hot buffalo wings which were actually pretty spicy! Definitely one of the best hot buffalo wings I’ve had at a bar here in Houston. There are outdoor TV’s available to watch whatever sport event is on which is definitely a plus for my husband and I. There are also dog water bowls available for all the dog guests. Overall, I would come back here for the outdoor dog friendly patio as well as the spicy buffalo wings. I doubt I would be a regular here but it’s a great option for a nice afternoon out to kick back and relax with a nice cold drink.

Alright, as a precursor, I usually only write a review on Unilocal for a business who has done an exemplary job in one way or another that really impressed me. This review is a little different… I had been to the front porch a handful of times when they were reasonably busy and the service was solid and the beer was cold. Steak night proved for a full belly at a low cost to the consumer. Anyways, my view of this bar drastically changed after last night. We went to watch the late game Sunday night and were one of the only groups there. Our drinks didn’t go empty before we were asked if we needed another as the service was fine at first. We started to play music on the jukebox and were loading $ 5’s in the machine having some laughs and singing along to some of our favorite songs. After an hour or two, the late game wound down, and so did we. We had a few songs left to play on the queue in the jukebox when suddenly someone flipped the breaker disabling the jukebox and shutting it off. They did this at 10:30p, earlier we had asked the waitress what time they closed she said 2AM! Obviously an attempt to put a damper on our evening and get us out of the bar so that they could go home early. I then went up to the bar to see what happened and they said the jukebox broke and that they would refund me for the songs I still had yet to play. I am not a cheap-o and did not care about losing the $ 2 that was left in the jukebox, it was the fact that they attempted to get us out of there early in the worst fashion possible when we were just hanging out having a good time. Such a rude thing to do, especially after I had already tipped over 20%. This experience ruined the end of the night and ended Sunday Fun day on such a bad note. Bottom line, that really left a bad taste in my mouth because this pub used to be a good place to go hang out with some friends and is now just seen as another one of those bars where the staff are rude and inconsiderate.

Great place to chill with drinks. Pizza is amazing, great craft beer selection. Love coming here on Mondays for Monday Night Football Bingo(seriously, makes even a crappy matchup fun). Steak nights are well worth the money, too. I see complaints about parking — ummmm… it’s Midtown and that’s just the way it is down here. Service is just right, not asking you every 2 minutes if you need anything, but enough that my drink is never dry before my next one delivered.

My friends and I went for steak night, and it was really juicy and flavorful. It’s about $ 15 for a huge ribeye and your choice of baked potato, salad, or fries. We all got fries, which were nice and crispy. Our waitress was really sweet. She didn’t write anything down, which worried me. Our fries came out first, but our wings never came. The waitress forgot to place the order. Fail! We just had our steaks and beer for dinner, which was good. I think they had trivia night too, but we weren’t interested in it. Overall good for steak night.

I was super excited to come here since my coworkers and I drove 5+ hours from the Dallas Fort Worth airport to get here and I was visiting a friend who had moved to Houston. It was definitely very clean and had a great ambiance about it. But I’ll admit, it was a Monday night, not very busy at all, and the service was not there at all. But first thing first, here’s a breakdown of why I’m giving it a measly 2 stars. Parking: Parking is limited with a couple of parking spots on the sides. I was lucky enough to get a spot right in the front, especially since it was 95 degrees and humid! It is located on a pretty busy street, so finding street parking is difficult. You might have to walk a bit especially if you come on a busier night. Activities: Since it was Monday night, I guess it was bingo night! I haven’t played in a while, but the waitresses passed around the bingo pads and stamps to each of the tables. An announcer yelled out the numbers(kind of too quickly for my taste since I felt like I couldn’t talk and play at the same time). It was cute activity to do while waiting for our food. My friends won a couple games so they got hats and a beer cup. I loved the spirit at the bar when someone called bingo and immediately the bar would scream«BULLSH*T!» Food and Drinks: After we ordered our food, it probably took about 20 minutes for it to come out. It was understanding since there were 8 of us. I ordered the chicken strips and french fries with buffalo wing sauce on the side. It was so delicious surprisingly! The chicken wasn’t dry and had a really crispy outside. My friend also ordered a salad with fries on the side. Apparently it’s very popular in Pittsburgh to put fries in your salad, and it was pretty yummy! My other friend had ordered a veggie sandwich, but unusually, it took about 45 minutes for it to come out. She had waited so long that we were done eating and this was after she bothered the waitress TWICE for her food. Which leads me to talk about… Service: HORRIBLE. Probably the WORST service I’ve ever had at a restaurant/pub. When we first walked in, we were looking at the beers and ordered some to go to our table. But it was just unusual when we tried to order our food and the hostess said that our waitress would meet us at our table. Our waitress never came to our table, so we ended up grabbing her inside. After we got her, she was very unenthusiastic and just jotted down our orders. Her name was Vanessa. She literally never checked back on us about drinks, waters, or even my friend’s food(that came after 45 minutes). When she brought out the food, she didn’t remember who ordered what item so she aimlessly dropped the dishes on the tables. Also, by working at a bar, I would think you would ask us if we wanted any more drinks, but instead, my friends had to go to the bar to get their own drinks. Worst part about that was my friend was trying to close his tab when she said that his credit card wasn’t there. NOLIE. He later called the bar the next day, and someone had said they found his credit card which makes it a little suspicious why our waitress would say they didn’t have it in the first place. And like I mentioned before, 45 minutes after we ordered, my other friend finally got her food. Clearly, when she finally got it, she was not in the mood. Our waitress tried to make it up by saying she would give to us on the house. Of course she forgot and still charged us. We made sure she took off the sandwich off the receipt. Overall, this would have been an amazing bar to come to with the delicious food and bingo night fun, but the service was so awful that I wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here. Unless they want to lose their credit card and keep walking back and forth to get the waitress, be alert!

Place is nice to hangout and have a beer with friends. Young people all around. Several beer options, many local ones among them. Tuesday 16oz rib eye is the special, fair enough. Bbq cooked, tasty and tender.

Great spot! I love that this place is dog friendly and whenever I feel like I’ve been neglecting my baby and we hang out, this is one of our go to spots! Good wings, pizza, and decent crawfish when in season. My pooch also loves the rare burger patties without seasoning! I’m addicted to their frozen screwdrivers! Sometimes service is slow but other than that great staff and patrons!

Out of all the bars in Midtown that I’ve been to I’d say that this is the most laid back. They had guys playing washers in the front which was cool because games always keep you around and the waitress was really nice. Crawfish on the patio music in the air and a ton of people just enjoying the atmosphere. I’d say give them a visit the beer is cold but the mixed drinks are small my margarita tasted like Lemonade so I stuck to beer until the end of the night. All in all it was a great experience

Nice vibe, friendly folks, crawfish on Saturday night for 7/lb not bad at all. Had the fried platter and it was good. My only beef with the place is I asked for a rail whiskey and ginger and they charged me for a Marker Mark’s drink that ended up being 8 dollars each. When I order a rail, it’s because I want to get drunk for cheap… Kinda defeats the purpose when charged for more.

Fun bar with great outdoor seating and the ultimate version of an adult slushie: the Moondriver. A large group of friends and I stopped here during a Pub Golf event on Saturday and all had the Moondrivers and some appetizers. Props to the staff for providing great service! If you are looking for a snack, get the soft pretzel with queso!

Every time I would drive around this bar I would see tons of cool people hanging out. Last night I stopped by with my BF for steak night. The food was good, the ambience was great and they have a big selection of beers. Although my BF and I were there by ourselves the regulars made short conversations with us and that made us feel welcome. Dogs are allowed on the porch which is cool because not many bars allow that. Over all, I am definitely going back.

Overall enjoyed this fun pub out in midtown. It’s got a great vibe as a hangout spot. Tuesday/Thursday steak nights, Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun crawfish. Trivia on tuesday as well. They’ve got great little promotions like shirts for tapping out a keg. Came last night for steak night, and while the atmosphere was great, the food left something to be desired. Steak was okay quality, and overly salty. Came away needing more water, and I had already downed two glasses. The baked potato was pretty great — they come by with an entire tray of bacon bits, butter, sour cream, green onions, and cheese to stack it whichever way you want. $ 2 ziegenbocks are awesome, but the other beer prices were nothing amazing. Solid place to hang out, but there are better steak nights in Houston.
