Freebirds World Burrito is my favorite cuisine. I know that people take Chipotle as something else other than Mexican food, but I personally love it. I also like a homemade Mexican food, but in terms of fast food Chipotle is truly the best to me. Great news for people like me — they have a delivery now! How exciting is that?!

Your standard Freebirds joint. Not the biggest or smallest one I’ve been to. Some outdoor seating. When I was there around 12:30 on a Friday, there were lots of people eating inside, but no line to speak of to get burritos. Not a bad spot for a quick lunch!

This whole time here was just not enjoyable. I came here last night, which would be a Thursday night and it wasn’t crowded at all. But the service was TERRIBLE! My friend and I walked in and were not greeted by any one behind the counter. Once we got to the front of the short line every employee was moving in slow motion, they were not giving you an experience they were seriously acting like they had ZERO interest in being there. The lady helping us was not enthusiastic and almost spoke in a whisper. They threw the ingredients in the bowl without paying much attention and honestly it was just really odd. We got to the part where we pay, no one tried to up-sell us on chips and queso, on guac, and the lady at the register didn’t even ask if we wanted drinks, she asked for the card before asking if we wanted a drink. She was spacey and honestly seemed like she could have been high, like she couldn’t comprehend what was going on. The place was freezing, the trash cans were overflowing, the area to place you baskets was full and they were falling down, Honestly I know I’m never coming back to this location, or probably freebirds at all. It just doesn’t compare to Chipotle in flavor or freshness.

My wife and I eat here often but last night I got food poisoning from ordering a steak salad. My wife got a chicken salad but I loaded mine up with sauce and I have an odd feeling it’s the BBQ sauce that got me sick. Been burping that up for the past 6 hours. Be careful what you order and ask how fresh it is!

I am so happy to have this so close to my house. I love Freebirds! I’ve always had great service here. Friendly and efficient. Freebirds is da bomb. I always get the hybrid with steak, black beans, very little cilantro rice, roasted veggies, corn, cilantro, salsa, sour cream, fresh jalapenos… hmmm I think that’s all? If you’re extra hungry get the combo with chips and queso. I love the chipotle, smoky queso.

Great courteous staff & clean sanitary place all way around. I stumbled upon this place after having a bad experience at sonic drive in on wirt rd. Definitely recommend, great fresh food, for a first timer they made it simple and easy, especially when you have indecisive children. Will return in near future.

I love freebirds burritos so was feeling good about ordering the salad now that I eating healthier. First the lettuce they offer is dissapointing, iceberg — no nutrition or spring mix — which does not hold up well to freebirds toppings. So the salad did not have a good texture flow, spring mix is just too limp. Then the meat, I opted for grilled steak, left a greasy film on the roof of my mouth. Very dissapointing since I love this place but burritos are rarely on the menu for me anymore and I am not interested in having another salad :(

My wife said this place is great, but it’s just a run of the mill burrito shop. I guess it was okay, but nothing about it was amazing. Much better options in Houston.

Went to Freebirds World Burrito last week. The wait was a bit long but the service and food made up for it.

More«toppings» options than any other burrito chain. Never a disappointment. Go to chipotle if you don’t like having something as simple as queso. And if you’re trying to eat burritos in general to be «healthy» get outta here. This place is where its at. Staff is always friendly and quick.

best places to get burritos. It goes like this… Bullritos then chipotle then«every other burrito restaurant in the world»(except tacobell) then taco bell and finally freebirds. If management would just respond to my complaint and apologize, I would at least move them in front of tacobell, or perhaps«every other burrito restaurant in the world». But then I’d be lying. Do yourself a favor, there’s a chipotle just down the street off Heights Blvd, go there instead. If chipotle isn’t possible, you can literally walk across the parking lot to the taco bell(only do this as a last resort though). Tacobell might not have quality meat, or real meat at all, but at least it’ll be edible.

Second best to chipotle. Only because I like their cilantro rice more but here you have so many options! Definitely try something different every time you come here. The service is quick so you don’t have to worry about a wait time. The food is fresh and I love the different kinds of tortillas and the option size where as chipotle only has 1 size… Bathrooms were clean and lady friendly. Not much to write a long review because this is such a simple place to go for lunch and just get in and out. But like I said try something different every time, you won’t be disappointed.

I was excited to try the new calabasitas but when I went around 10:45, they hadn’t even started cooking them! Bummer. So I ordered the chicken instead. Nope. That had at least started but it wasn’t finished cooking. Major bummer. So I asked for a veggie salad with bacon and avocado. Wrong choice again! The bacon hadn’t been chopped yet and the avocados were not out yet. The server had to go chop the bacon herself and look in the cooler to find the avocados. I feel like a store to should be ready to go with everything as soon as it’s open, no? P. S. Some info for other reviews who are misinformed… Every single Freebirds store in all states use the same meats, so one store’s meat quality is no better than another. The stores must order from one vendor who is contracted to use a specific type of meat for their items.

I must disclose that I worked at Freebirds WB from Feb to Nov 2014, in two Houston locations. My job was preparing salsas, vegetables etc. Rather than go into detail about instore politics & lack of training, duty of care etc. I’d prefer to focus on product. For the most part, the primary ingredients range from average to good. Fruit & vegetables are good, beef is cheap quality. Both are stored well. However, the chicken is unhygienic to the point of being a health hazard. They receive twice weekly orders of meat, with chicken being separated into thigh & breast meat. The thigh is normally okay, but the topmost layer of cases of raw breast meat are, more often than not, tinged with a green color. Sometimes half the breasts are green all the way through. The first time I saw this I asked a co-worker what the deal was with the color & they said the area manager explained its appearance as ‘safe, just an oxidation process’. My incredulous response was ‘oxidation is exposure to air, so he basically told you the meat is decomposing without using the word rotten’. There was never any concern expressed outside of my refusal to prep meat I considered to be unfit for human consumption. It should be noted that the chicken was received by FWB in this condition so the initial blame lies with the supplier/s, however at no time during my employment was an order refused on the grounds that it posed a potential health risk. I can say in all honesty that other products pose no danger, but BEWARE the chicken, unless you want to flirt with salmonella or campylobacter.

They use cheap steak meat, that has connecting tissue on it. Hard to chew and nasty. Been to many other freebiess in different cities and different states, where the steak beef tasted superb and did not have anything but red meat on it. So It has to be the owners of this exact location trying to save money by buying inferior meat. Did not try any of their other meats, and everything else in the burrito was alright.

Freebirds provides an alternative to the spread of Chipotle and offers up well constructed burritos with a lot of options. Part of dining at any Freebirds is the actual restaurant itself. Generally, they have a lady liberty riding a harley hanging from the ceiling, great wall art, and are festooned with foil-created art. This outlet is no different, and, is one of the bigger locations that I have been in, with a good flow through the line and plenty of seating. Now, for those of you who don’t know, Freebirds did not start in College Station, but in Santa Barbara, CA; however, the iteration of Freebirds that you see all over Texas today emerged from the College Station location. In general, long before their were Chipotles, Mission Burritos, or other burrito joints in Texas, there was Freebirds. Ok, so, back to the review… First, pick your size: Hybrid(medium), Freebird(large), and Monster(huge). I don’t see Super Monster on the menu, but I imagine you could order one(it’s basically two Monsters and about the size of an NFL football). The thing that sets Freebirds apart are the options: options for tortillas, options for rice, options for beans, options for meat, options for sauces, and tons of veggies and condiments. Basically, you get anything you want and are not upcharged for most of it. One downside to all of the options is that, sometimes, quality suffers(generally in the keeping food piping hot department). Staff here are always awesome, and being yourself is definitely encouraged. I’ve had them go out of their way for me multiple times, and they’re always friendly. Most recently, I brought my two girls in to eat, and picked up a salad for my wife; the manager offered to keep the salad in the fridge while we ate. Pretty cool ;) Anyway, bottom line, you’re going to get quality here, and a burrito that is all your own, so, go, and down a monster or two, if you have the stomach

Sitting at Freebirds right now writing this as I eat my luke warm, overpriced burrito bowl. The chicken and beans should be warm, but they aren’t. And about half of their toppings are extra charge. Sour cream, really? I would have added tomato(probably costs extra) but they looked soggy and old. I normally eat at Chipotle and will continue to do so. Their ingredients are always fresh and at the right temp. They only charge extra for the guac. Do yourself a favor and drive to the next exit and go to Chipotle instead.

How can you give Freebirds anything less than 5 stars? Everything is always great. My favorite is the nachos. I add some chicken fajita and all kinds of extras with the amazing queso on top.

I keep trying to come here and like this Chipotle knock-off, but I can’t seem to find anything I love about the place. After about 5 attempts, I think I’ve given up.

I have to come here on the sneak tip as my gf hates their cheese dip. I, on the other hand, think the cheese dip is delicious. I always get a carnitas burrito piled high with all the rice beans and pico I want. Their burritos are ridiculously big but that is part of the fun. You certainly will never go away hungry. The salsa bar is good, and there is plenty to choose from. This location has a good amount of seating and the servers there are really friendly. Seriously, they make you feel like you are an old friend. More places should be like this. If you are planning on braving the crowds at Target, why not stop here and fuel up first?
