I go to Fountain View Café for only one thing, the pancakes. They’re the best in town. They’re thin, sweet, and delicious. You can add bananas, peanut butter, chocolate chips, ect on top of them. they have good burgers and all american breakfast. Order the pancakes!

The man at the register is miserable! Please give him an extended paid vacation. I think he hates people and life, in general and his face shows it. Why he works in customer service puzzles me. Life is too short to spend hours on end being miserable and a complete ass to others. A smile goes a long way. Find your true passion, bruh, because Fountainview Café ain’t it!

All I can really say is… blah. The food just isn’t good. I have no idea how there are so many great reviews, honestly. Many raved about the pancakes, but mine were not good at all. Maybe my family and I just got a bad batch. Who knows. Also, the unfriendly man at the register didn’t make the visit any better. It was an all around unwelcoming atmosphere. We would’ve done better by going to iHop, to be honest.

Not sure how this place gets such good reviews. Had breakfast here for the first time and won’t come back. The food was ok but the English muffin was hard as a rock and stale. The bacon was burned and the service wasn’t great. There were two dead cockroaches in the bathroom area.

In the middle of the city is this little hudden jewel that is a breath of fresh air from the fast pace city around it. You order at the counter and served by friendly smiling faces. On a tuesday morning the average age may be near 70 but all of the patrons share the same comforting smile. Now on to the food. It’s nothing fancy. Your typical quick kitchen style of breajfast. But its also not out of the question for the price. It was a nice quite place to eat breakfast with a great friend.

Never disappoints, the daily scrambler on the weekends is always delicious, big portions!

Fountain View Café is in a strip mall, popular with the neighborhood. I would give this place a solid 3 stars to 3.5. It has a variety of people from families, individuals, couples, and so forth. Ordering food is a service line that when it gets backed up they will send someone to take your order to expedite payment. Once that’s been complete, everything else is a self help from getting coffee, water, condiments, etc. The food is is good, fresh and service is friendly. The only drawback from not pushing it to the 4 star level is the time it takes to receive the food. Its to the point where you get uncomfortable wondering when it will be coming.

Average at best. They brought the wrong salad out and the bacon on the BLT was less than desirable.

For better or worse, this is one boring restaurant. If you want to take your mom or dad to a place they won’t complain about, come here. It feels like the cafeteria in a senior’s residence. Plenty of beige walls, dated furniture, barely discernible background radio. Food seems like it’s good quality, but the sandwiches are small, and the rye bread was as interesting as Wonder Bread. Self serve on the beverages and condiments.

I don’t understand these bad reviews! Their food is always great! It’s not fancy, just basic items and if you can get past the scowling cashier you’re good to go! Excellent chicken salad! Excellent pancakes and French toast. I love that you can order a grapefruit half and cottage cheese. Yum! It’s close to home and filling!

Good place for breakfast. Set-up is a little weird, Order and pay first, then try and find a spot to sit. But food is good. Nice portion sizes and quick service.

I had heard good things about this café from a few friends and the café is located next to Ron’s Pub where I watch all the Liverpool FC games. I decided to stop in for lunch. Ordered the the club sandwich, sweet potato fries and coleslaw. The staff were very friendly and the food didn’t come out within seconds from the order which was a good thing. While I waited for my food I watched the interaction between the staff and customers. Apart from one employee at the counter everyone was very courteous and extremely helpful. The food: The club sandwich was good and fully loaded with meat, bacon and lettuce. The sweet potato fries were over cooked and cooked from frozen which I didn’t enjoy and the coleslaw was not fresh. All the food was OK but I had hoped that with all the hype that all the ingredients would be fresh especially when they are considered extras and an additional charge. I can understand being a café and potentially having many customers come through that cooking fresh may take longer. I would rather wait but I’m sure many people wouldn’t. Overall a good experience and I will try breakfast here with the family and see if the experience is better. I have also noticed that the owner reads these comments and responds very professionally to criticism which I applaud.

Basic breakfast place. Nothing really spectacular to point out. The service was fine, the food was fine, the atmosphere was fine.

The service is attentive, but for the prices charged I was disappointed. A breakfast order of one breakfast special, one breakfast sandwich, and a kids plate was over $ 30. I will(and have) happily paid more for a good brunch, but the cost compared to what showed up on the plate left me regretting the time wasted to order and get the food. The only item sampled from any of the plates that had a some real taste to it was the pickle(which I would guess comes from a jar). Otherwise, the monochromatic plates were dull and bland. Likely this place stays running by offering safe, but overpriced fare to people who think adding salt and pepper counts as culinary exploration. Options abound so this place is safely crossed of the list for all futures.

Super duper yummy food! There’s a line out the door, but open tables. This to me means two things are happening… people are attracted enough to the food, enough to wait for it… the food is taking longer to prepare because they actually care about it. I ordered the Café II which is two eggs added cheese w bacon and hash browns, also a pancake on the side. Food took about 15 minutes but was excellent! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a chill breakfast and self serve coffee bar!

Had a hankering for breakfast so stopped by Fountain View Café. Order the Café I which consistent of one meat, one egg and choice of two sodes. I had one pan sausage, eg scrambled hard, hash brown, toast, and coffee all for $ 10. Hate I got charched for salsa but see why bc not your regular stuff. They have carrots in it and there is some heat. I put on my hash. Nothing spectacular about the egg, sausgae, or toast. I do like the option of preserves as I am not a fan of jelly. No frills place but the people and atmosphere are great. Alot of the people from the neighborhood come here from what I see. Will keep as an option bc I can’t stand Denny’s or IHOP. One last thing, their cakes look scrumpdiliumpios. I will try when I’m not full.

Visited this place at 11:15am on a Wednesday morning. I was able to miss the morning rush and avoid the lunch crowd. I was able to place my order quickly at the counter and able to seat myself right away. No wait :) The gentleman working the counter was polite and invited me to take a seat anywhere, explaining my order would be be brought out to me. The food was brought out in about 10 minutes. Fairly reasonable amount of time for an Omelette and pancake made to order. The omelette was good and the pancake ok. I really wanted and was hoping it would be great after reading all of the reviews. But it was very thin and just ok unfortunately. Overall the service was pleasant but the food was underwhelming… I can not say that I wouldn’t go back, but it just wouldn’t be my first choice.

Delicious little dive that feels like home. I have came here twice for breakfast and both times it has been fantastic. I create my own scrambler with Egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, onions and feta cheese. It always super fresh and well seasoned. The hash browns it comes with are shredded but still have a nice texture and great seasoning. The biscuit is where the lost a star for me because it has the potential to be soooo freaking good. It is homemade you can tell but has been cold and too doughy both times I have ordered it. I think if I were to have it fresh first thing in the morning when they are made it would rock my world back and forth. My Husband created his own omelets as usual and he is very picky but said it was a nice balance of ingredients and fresh. The vibe of this place is where your grandparents would go eat for lunch for home style classics and a everyone knows your name feel. Self serve drinks, utensils, and condiments with a staff that seems more like family then anything else.

We came here today for brunch because I read online that they’re famous for their pancakes. The pancakes are good but definitely nothing to write home about. The line is long & you order at the counter which seems efficient since the place is pretty tiny & packed. The wait to get the food wasn’t terrible considering there were so many people there. I didn’t like the set-up…the tables are super close together & you’re basically eating with the table next to you. The tables are also pretty small so there’s not room for food which they oddly put on multiple plates. Overall… –Good food. –Crowded atmosphere. –Long lines. –Decent service. I enjoyed the food but won’t be back b/c it’s a pretty standard place… nothing special. There are too many places to eat in Houston to return to a place that I basically give a B. Gets 4 stars b/c nothing was wrong really it was just okay.

First time was a very good visit. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside to take in some sunshine. The inside is very nice and clean. The menu is on the left hand side of the wall from the entrance. They have a variety of sandwiches, salads, and entrees. I had my favorite, a ham and cheese melt. This sandwich was loaded with ham and American cheese, and grilled to perfection. I ordered a side of onion rings too. They were huge. They were also cooked to perfection. Golden brown with a beer batter coating. They were delicious. The staff was very friendly, and our food was brought outside to our table. Since it was cool outside today, inside of the restaurant was a little too warm for us to dine in. There’s plenty of tables for inside dining should you visit when the weather isn’t so nice. This is a small café with good food and friendly people. This is the perfect spot for lunch. I will definitely return.
