Awesome food and awesome service! The lamb Samosa was so yum!

We where driving around and just happened to stop by. The staff was friendly, food was great, and atmosphere excellent. Take note, some entrees will have a wait just because everything is freshly made to order. But everything that we ordered with such a warning was worth the wait. We have found our new Indian restaurant of choice.

Great chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, samosas, deserts, etc! Fantastic customer service! Recommendation: try everything! I hate that this place closed down. Is there a new location? What the hell happened?

The food was wonderful but the service was possibly some of the worst in houston. We went to eat with a group of friends on the recommendation of someone in the group who has eaten here before. We had people in our group of six who had dietary restrictions and it was disregarded by the chef and the waiters. When we told them that some of the food did not meet certain dietary restrictions they instead chose to argue with us about what was and was not in the food. When our entrées came out the waiters and the chef were not able to tell us the difference between some of the most basic foods such as naan. We also had to remind them several times that we were missing various dishes that we ordered and never came out. It took 30 minutes for then to bring water to us. Once it was time to pay we requested the bill be itemized because everyone ordered something different. The waitress told us that was not possible and by this time we were fed up with our experience and requested to speak with the manager. About 10 minutes later they handed a cell phone to us with the manager on the line and during the conversation. He told us that the waiter that called him told him that we refused to pay the bill. After several outbursts claiming that was an insane accusation the waiter walked away quickly once he realized he was in the wrong. After a long long explanation and several misunderstandings due to lies told by the wait staff the manager was nice enough to discount our meal by 30%. Long story short. Good food. Terrible and frustrating service where everyone was extremely rude

Nice start up place. Wait time was longer than anticipated. I love korma and the taste was just ok. Veggie samosa and mango lassi was just ok.

I ate here for the first time today and loved the food. I ordered chilli paneer and navratan korma along with naan. I asked for spice level to be ‘Indian’. Navratan korma was usual but chilli paneer was awesome. The paneer was very fresh and fried to perfection. Amount of spice was perfect too. Naan was cooked well as well. The best thing about the food was that it was very fresh. I can not say that about a lot of Indian restaurants in Houston. There was light music playing and the atmosphere was very calm. The servers were also very warm. We asked for onions with our food and they got a very nice onion and chilly salad with lemons. Overall a great experience!

Parking free. Ambiance. Dim, neat, spaceous Restroom. Only two stalls and none of them were working. CLOGGED… I notified them hoping they’ll fix it by the end of my meal … But they didn’t. Food.decent…not great but nothing spectacular We had the Mano lassi, lamb samosas, garlic naan, lamb biryani, butter chicken, and beef kabobs. The SERVICE was an EPICFAIL. I had to ask 3 different waitstaff for a straw but since no one supplied me one in my 10 mins of waiting time I went up to the staff podium to ask for one. It took them 15 – 20 mins to come by and take our order. Took them 10 mins to get our sauce for our appetizers. Shouldn’t it already be on the appetizer plate?! We had to ask several times for to go boxes and our tab. While we waited for our boxes and tab, we noticed that the other waiters were boxing and chatting with other patrons through out their stay. We ended up boxing up our own food. Note…there were approximately 10 patrons in the entire restaurant!!! If you want returning customers train your staff better. Perhaps that is why no one was in there dining on a Friday night. They knew something we didn’t.

Service was good(once seated). Food was great. Naan was excellent. Kheer was amazing. 3 instead of 4 stars because: 1) They gave me the worst seat in the house and refused to seat me somewhere else, even though they only had 3 tables and 2) The atmosphere is pretty cold. It’s a big box feeling. Gourmet India is two blocks further down. The food is comparable. The service is comparable. The naan and kheer are better here, but the atmosphere is better there(once you enter the place). Tough choice next time.

Honestly I would give a 4 only. But you know at times you have a soft corner to some businesses and just can’t stop being biased. Yes, this is the first very best Indian dine in experience for me, after coming to the states. Very professionally greeted and serviced by all staffs, the hostess and manager. They were very friendly and open to feedback too. Even though we visited with a groupon, we were no less attended too. Scrumptious food, chicken 65 was in the perfect juicy texture. It was the star dish of the meal. Chilli garlic naan was far above expectations. Only thing that was okayish was the Malai kofta, turmeric hit raw in the tongue and the kofta was very sticky. Ambience is different and good.

I wouldn’t call it the best in Houston, but it was decent for being so far away from Hillcroft. I actually came here because I was craving Indian food, it had great Unilocal reviews and of course I was INTHEAREA. It helped that I had a Groupon to go along with my meal of course. Our server was very nice, even when he brought out the wrong naan to the table. Paneer Pakora — these were okay and breaded using a similar panko-style breading many Indian places use for fried veggies. Cheese and breading are fairly bland, did not taste any spices and we both thought this should have come with some sort of dipping sauce or curry. Chicken Vindaloo(ordered Indian spicy) — dish was good, not great with just enough spice for my taste buds. The waiter warned that it was very spicy and I thought it was about a 7⁄10 on the heat scale. I finished about half and took the rest home. The waiter came out later and told me that was the hottest dish on the menu, but they can add more spice to it and make it even hotter. Mutton Rogan Josh(ordered medium) — I only tried a little of this dish but it seemed like your typical goat curry. I didn’t taste any«yogurt» and some of the pieces of goat were difficult to remove from the bone. Garlic Naan — this was good and similar to Garlic Naan at other restaurants. Regular Naan(they brought out by mistake) — basic naan, nothing special. Stick to the garlic naan! The prices were about what you would expect for being located along Westheimer(a $ or 2 more than what they should be). I’ll have to come back and try their lunch buffet, since the food was good but nothing really blew me away during the dinner service.

I went here with a Groupon and high expectations. I believe this place may have an artificially high Unilocal rating due to some family and friend reviews. Many of them saying this is the best Indian food in Houston only have 1 – 3 reviews. If you are an Indian food addict like me, you may recognize this place from its previous incarnation of Sher-E-Punjab. The interior is now drastically changed… and purple… but the food is unchanged. Don’t get me wrong, the food here isn’t bad. I have had worse in Houston, but it’s in the bottom three. It’s quite bland, even when you ask them to kick up the spice. It’s just missing something which makes it mediocre. We tried the chicken vindaloo, chicken tikka masala and the chicken kadai. The masala was quite good, and the service pretty good as well, although one of the waitresses asked to take my plate away as I was on the process of eating off it. Hello, awkward. I had no issues or delays using the Groupon.

The quantity of food was amazing. Dinner was good. — the food wasn’t the best Indian we ever had but both dishes we got were above average. Music was loud. They turned it down but then someone turned it back up later… whatever. It was our first time & I think we’ll give it another shot.

I think I’ll still stick to my regular Indian restaurants… this place was underwhelming. Fancy atmosphere, even a few chandeliers ooo000o0oo! But food and service weren’t on the same level. Service — slow, un-attentive. We had to literally wave them down a few times, I almost asked David to just go up there and grab a box. No water refills, crazy bent forks. Food very mediocre. Not worth the trip or the price. Butter chicken — sauce was not as flavorful as other places. And chicken was dry. SOOOOO dry! Sad. Aloo Ghobi — under seasoned and overcooked. Garlic naan — would’ve been delicious if the bottom wasn’t burnt. But with the slow service, I wasn’t going to wait for another. Regular naan — ordered this when we got our food, and it didn’t arrive until we way after we were finished with the garlic naan. Food was cold already. Sorry, I don’t like rice, and I never order naan at the same time because I like it fresh and crispy. This has never been an issue at any other Indian establishment. We wont be back until there’s a significant improvement in food and service.

Came back to curry bistro for lunch. There is one guy managing all tables. But there is no delay. He is very good at what he is doing. I can see that they have introduced pakoras. Or batter fried cauliflowers in menu. They tasted excellent. And so did the kheer. Far better than the so called branded Indian restaurants on Houston

I am really picky in the Indian food since I have got bad experiences before!!! I went to this place after reading Unilocal reviews and understood why they are praised for their food. First off, the Naan was amazing softer. One of the best Naans I had. And the Beef Biriyani was soft and flavorful. The chicken curry was delicious. We almost licked the entire bowl ;). The service was great and the food was amazing!!! I appreciated the Chef(HIs name is Sethi) and now finally found a place to go often for Indian food. Peace restored !!!

The food here is surprising good! We order Garlic Naan and chicken 65 which were delicious. The butter chicken could be better if it actually had chicken chunks in it.(Be careful eating butter chicken! It has bones in it) For dessert, we got mango pudding. Very flavorful but the presentation needs work. In the end, the place was great and we will definitely come back!

Thought we’d venture out and try a new neighborhood place after Josh’s little league game this past weekend. Pretty good! We tried the chicken tikka masala, the tandoori sampler plate with shrimp, chicken, lamb and fish and the garlic naan. We decided to stick with a spicy level of flavor vs the Indian Spicy… shoulda gone with Indian Spicy! No sweat, no runny nose, nuthin: P Chicken tikka masala was very flavorful, but the sauce was a bit on the sweet side for me. Paired with the naan and basmati rice, it was yummy! We decided on the sampler because we wanted to try a little of everything AND we were famished! The shrimp was sooo delicious! The lamb was second best. The chicken was ok and we would totally skip the fish next time… it was a bit fishy :/ The garlic naan was simply ahhhmazing! So garlicky! So fresh! We would totally come back!

Hands down — best Indian food in Houston. I got the chile pakoras and aloo gobi with a side of garlic naan — lots of food for one person, but I had a long day and the family was out of town… I figured I deserved it! Everything tasted wonderful — hard to describe what the«it» factor is with the food, but they’ve got it. The aloo gobi was spicy, but really more flavorful than just scorch-your-tongue hot. The naan, the pakoras and even the rice were all excellently prepared and very tasty. It’s kind of a drive if you don’t live in West Houston, but well worth it… keep driving past all the«knowns»(Bombay Brasserie, Kiran’s, etc) and check this place out — you’ll thank yourself later.

Oh West side Indian food heaven … I have found you! I’ve been searching for a great Indian restaurant out west here. There are several in the area to compete with the new Curry Bistro for sure: Nirvana, Gourmet India, & Signature India — but I don’t think I’ll ever go back to any of them now! I hate to say such a thing after one trip, but my hopes are high that they will be consistent! The dining area is very large with dark walls, which make it feel cozy and modern. There are beautiful dim lit chandeliers that add some sparkle too. The art work is nice, but looks kind of undersized on the vast wall space. The place was very clean. I would love to see some more glistening art to reflect the beautiful light and make it even more appealing. Service does need a bit of work. I hope this will work it’s self out and the team will tighten up their game. It’s not that they weren’t super polite and trying hard to make it work, it was just really unorganized and seemed there was a lack of communication. Just opening kinks … let’s hope. Cause if they do start to get it right … I may just move my stars right on up. Now … dun dun dun … the food! This is what got me captivated(& that it’s also BYOB — YES). We started with the vegetarian sampler from the appetizer menu. The tamarind and cilantro sauces were unbelievably fresh. The appetizer had good variety of items, but all the items were fried. All were delicious however! For dinner we tried the Mattar Paneer, Bhindi Masala, Naan and Lamb Rogan Josh. We ordered everything medium since we were unsure of the chef’s idea of what medium was. It was perfect for my man who doesn’t like it too spicy. The minute the food came out and hit my mouth I knew I had found it — my new spot for Indian! I can’t explain how fresh everything tasted. All the complex ingredients were making their statement on different sections of by taste buds. Only wish was I had bigger stomach, so I could eat more! But I had to restrain so I could try some desserts and Chai tea. All the dishes came with rice without having to order it, which I liked as well. We tried the mango ice cream and Ros Malai. Both were light and sweet! The only thing now is to figure out what to try next time!

New Indian restaurant on the west side. Food tastes amazing, and has actually gotten better over the last few times we’ve been. If you like saag paneer, check out the saag chicken! The spinach was so creamy and flavorful. The waitress, Vicky is awesome and takes our crazy group in stride without missing a beat. So happy to see business picking up here after the new year! Save room for dessert, and ask for the Gajar Halwa Ice Cream. It’s a sweet carrot dessert topped with ice cream, which sounds weird but is so amazingly awesome.
