A long time neighborhood business with great service and customer service. I trust them with all my garments no matter the fabric. Have used them for many years and been very happy.

I have been a customer since 1989 and even though now I live over 30 miles away, if I have anything of value; sentimental or monetary, they are the only place I will trust. Over the years there has been many examples of the quality and commitment to customer care; but my favorite example is the story of the Adolfo Dress. «I had purchased an original Adolfo Haute Couture dress in Paris, for which I had saved for many years. Then in 1990 with my new husband in tow, we attended a society event. I thought that I looked ‘fantabulous’ in my Adolfo! That evening, I placed said dress in the laundry basket marked: CLEANERS! No one knows why that time my husband decided to help with house work. He did the laundry! YES, you guessed! He machine washed the dress with everything else and then threw all of it in the dryer! My shock was so total, I could not speak! The dress(Black & White) looked like a Dalmatian who had been steam rolled! I took it to Collegiate Cleaners. Greg H heard my story, looked at the mess I presented to him… thought…and said, «We’ll give it a try, but I don’t think we can save it, but we will at least… try!» About two weeks later he called and said they had done their best and for me to come and see. With trepidation I went… I was stunned! I was again, speechless! The dress looked like it did brand new! No trace of the colors bleeding, no spots no shrinkage — brand new! They had literally hand worked the whole garment! I knew that they cared about their customers and the service that was given was superior. Most of all, it was done right there on the premises and not sent somewhere to get lost like luggage and dryer socks! I never did tell my husband that the dress was saved. In his quilt he was willing to buy me new things… and I was willing to receive them! Gollegiate Cleaners have always given me more than I have asked for. They have been responsive to my needs, special requests and always treated me with courtesy and respect. They have been there since 1947 and will be there 2047 — They are that good!

This place has the worst customer service. Very rude. Do not recommend giving your business.

What a terrible job they did on our clothes. They did such an awful job on my wife’s pleated skirt that she took it back to be redone. Re-do was even worse than the first, and they charged her again via the credit card on file! Very unprofessional and no pride on doing a good job.

Visited Collegiate Cleaners based on positive Unilocal reviews but unfortunately I cannot join the choir in singing its praises. The people who work there could not have been less interested in helping me and almost all shirts I got back had a weird oblong wrinkle spot across the front. One even had a small NEW grease stain. The search for a good dry cleaner continues!

This is a long-standing, wonderful local dry cleaner who really does a good job on things. The employees are very responsive, and my shirts and the occasional dry cleaning is always done very well. When I started going there they broke the bottom button on a couple of my shirts. I mentioned it when I next took the shirts in, and the buttons were replaced without charge and it has never happened since. Importantly, the do a great job cleaning. I tried another place just down the street where my shirts came back all smelly. Not at Collegiate Cleaners! They do a good job. They are also more environmentally friendly than most.

They’ve always done a fantastic job with my clothes. I’ve been using Collegiate Cleaners since college — 10 years now. They are on the expensive side but I think worth the extra money. They also provide a delivery/drop off service.

I will not go back here, it is super expensive, parking sucks and the staff is not anything special. They’re not very friendly and the price is wayyy too expensive. My laundered pants came out okay but not worth the money.

12⁄14: I drop off my winter boots to be cleaned for my trip to snowy, cold Michigan. I needed these boots for the trip and that’s the only reason I got them cleaned. They were promised to be done on 12⁄19. 12⁄19: When I go to pick them up, they tell me they aren’t done but they’ll be done in 24 hours. 12⁄20: I stop to pick them up on my way to the airport. They are STILL not done, nor can I get them back dirty because they outsourced the cleaning. Greg, the owner, finally agrees to ship them to Michigan on 2-day shipping, but only if I pay him in advance. ½: The boots FINALLY arrive in Michigan, but after I already left Michigan, because he decided to send them ground! So I then had to pay for them to get shipped back to Houston! Now he claims that he didn’t promise 2-day shipping(why would I have agreed to have him ship them ground?) and won’t answer my email requests for a refund or shipping reimbursement. Moreover, this is not a one-time thing, since my coat was also 2 days late with no offer of a discount although other cleaners see it as a given to give you a refund if they don’t complete your service in the promised time.

They have never given me a receipt for the clothes that I dropped off. A few months ago, when I dropped off my suit, they returned only the jacket and not the pants. After 6 months, they never found my pants. I would call continuously, and my calls would go unanswered. When finally I stated that they needed to replace my suit pants, they stated they never had them and hung up the phone. I generally like to support small businesses, but not when they have terrible customer service!!!

My laundry came out looking great however, the staff was unfriendly and off putting in addition to marking up my bill almost double what the other cleaners in West U charge. I will not go back.

I normally hate having dry clean only clothing. I find it a hassle just to find time to wash my normal clothing let alone find time to drop off dry cleaning. Not to mention that means I’m paying someone else to clean my clothing. But as a law student currently going through interviews, I need to have suits to interview in that look professional which means dry clean only. So for all my dry cleaning needs, I go to Collegiate Cleaners. At first I went here because they have a discount for Rice students(or at least had, I guess it has been a while). I don’t get that any more, but I loved their service so much that I continue to go back. I must admit, I’ve never really had to pay for dry cleaning anywhere else so I don’t know how their prices compare to other dry cleaners, though as a currently poor college student I’m not shocked by the prices. However, I can vouch for the quality of their work. I have always been satisfied with the work they have done. I’ve given them letter-jackets, other sorts of jackets, skirt suits/pant suits/suit jackets made of all sorts of materials, a Victorian costume I’ve had since high school so is a little fragile, and many other items and all have come out wonderfully clean and in the same condition as I dropped it off. Though I guess it is in better condition since they come back extremely clean. =-P So if you need a dry cleaner in the Rice Village area, I highly suggest this place.(If you want to check out their pricing scheme, I believe they post it on their website.)
