Cantina Laredo

I went on a Thursday night for a birthday dinner. The food was good and given to promptly. They also had live music and many people were dancing. I liked it and would go back.

I’ve dined on Mexican cuisine on numerous occasions. This was my first visit here and both my wife and I were very pleased with our fare. The enchaladas Monterey were delightfully authentic yet creative. Devoured every morsel.
When next in the Houston area I will most likely revisit.

We called at 1015 and asked what time the kitchen closes and they told us 1am. We drove across town and arrived at 1105pm. They then told us the kitchen closes at 11 and would not serve us. The lady in the front was very rude and was practically yelling at us. Customer service here is horrible. I used to like the food but her attitude left a bad taste in my mouth.

Thursday night. Two waiters, about 15 tables and an army of «chip and salsa» refillers. 30 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us. Food was decent, pappasitos is better. Band playing that night was so loud I couldn’t hear my boyfriend when he was talking to me. Was kind of annoying while you’re trying to eat. With so many options in Houston, it’s not worth it.

I along with my husband and a friend went to this restaurant. I liked the interior of the restaurant. They give you nachos and salsa to munch on. You can have as much as you can. I had ordered veg fajitas. The vegetables came like a sizzler. It was gooooood. It also came with a rice which I dint like but everybody has different taste palettes. I had also ordered a chocolate brownie with vanilla Icecream which was fatty and awesome. I liked the food overall.

Visited last night for «date night» and it was a good time. The chips, salsa, and guacamole was great! He ordered fish tacos and I got the chicken enchiladas. The food was good and the drinks were even better. The only con was a group of rowdy women and the loud music. Not much of an intimate atmosphere for a couple. I would return here!

I just got back! I had the beef tacos and it was Ah-​may-​ZING!!! Margaritas are good too! The entire staff was extremely nice and accommodating.

I had been there a couple of times with my husband, and always loved the food and the service. In one of these visits, the server told us about the Tequila tasting events they have a few times per year… So we signed up for one, even though we don’t really drink tequila. So we went to the event with no big expectations. And it was awesome!
1. The food and the drinks: Everything amazing! 4 courses (appetizer, soup, main course and dessert) paired with tequila and tequila drinks. The food was so good! Particularly the sundried tomato soup with chipotle that was hearty and with different depths of flavor.
2. The ambient: nothing too fancy, nor proper, and I like that it does to pretend to be. It was nice, casually well-​dressed people, nothing pretentious. And after 9:30, live music started and even though I have no courage to stand up and dance, we could not help but to move with the rhythm of the Mexican music.
3. The price: can’t be beaten! 49.99 per person for the 4 course meal (that I had to get a to-​go box for the leftovers) and more tequila than I can drink in a year. Maybe two.
It was great and the regular food in the restaurant is worth coming back for. I recommend it for anyone in the area.

It is too overpriced for what they offer, the beans are canned with a very strong cumin flavor (who the hell thinks mexican food needs a lot of cumin?) the rice also taste like those boxed «mexican» rice that cost $ 1 at the supermarket. The only good thing there are the live music and some drinks.
if you want some latin music dance and some fancy drinks, it can be a good place just go dine somewhere else first.

Love that they have a live band and they play LATIN music which is a plus. The food and drinks are really good as well.

We had a large party of 6 adults and 5 kids. First off let me talk about the waitress. LESLIE had the most atrocious attitude I’ve ever experienced from a waitress. Her crass and nonchalant demeanor was very irritating. Not one person at our table was rude to her in any way! When informed that she forgot to bring my sister her beverage, she never apologized, but instead TOLD my sister that she ordered something that she clearly did not. When my sister nicely let her know that she did indeed order a mimosa (and not the Bloody Mary that get husband ordered) LESLIE roller her eyes and brushed it off. She then refused service our side of the table.
Food: the food took FOREVER to come out and there were only 3 other small tables in the restaurant. WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK
I’ve had better food at a Mexican meat market!

Came in here for lunch with some colleagues on a Tuesday afternoon. We were initially seated really close to a lot of other full tables. Because we wanted to talk business we asked to be moved to a table away from some others and we were accommodated. While Service was rather slow, I thought the food was quite good. The tableside guacamole was very nice and was a fun addition to lunch. The chicken enchilada was excellent and was different than how I’ve seen it made in other places. Despite the slow service I would definitely come back.

Just ate there. Still in the parking lot. The only thing worse than the food (crunchy rice, over cooked vegetables, undercooked shrimp, packaged tortillas, canned beans) was the price. $ 56 for two people, before the tip.
Wait no, manager was even worse than that. I told him it was horrible, told him how, and he said «okay» and sent the server out with the check. No apology. No price break. When a customer complains and cannot eat their food, they shouldn’t have to pay for it.
I STRONGLY recommend never stepping foot in there.

This has become a favorite Houston restaurant for me. The food is always delicious. And, I love the unique flavor combinations created by their chef.
Andrea is the hostess on Mondays. We have become friends. She knows me and what I Iike. The entire staff is very friendly.

If your looking for the microwave Tex-​mex food… This is your place. We ordered the queso laredo. It was grease and watery. I also ordered the mole enchilada. The waitress said be careful the plate is very hot. I know what that means, they microwaved the food. The chicken inside was dry and cold.
I also don’t like it when I’m sweating in a restaurant. Take some of the overpriced small portion food money and turn the AC down.
I did leave a full tip for the waitress, hey she did not cook it.
I also did not see the manager. After trying the food I see why.

I love this place! The dinning area is spacious but dance area is a little small. They also play really good music compare to some bars in midtown (always try remix shyt).

Ceviche (⁴⁄₅) — citrusy, fresh and tasty
Guacamole (⁵⁄₅) — fresh, thick and flavorful
Shrimp salad (⁴⁄₅)
Cheese dip (3.5÷5)
Got some meat dish and brisket tacos (⁴⁄₅) — it was all delicious!
Honey ginger sangria (⁴⁄₅) — refreshing and light… hardly taste the liquor but I like it like that.
The service was good and quick. I really enjoyed the food and ambience.

Decided to check this place out before going grocery shopping… trust me you should never go grocery shopping when your hungry.
I ordered the enchiladas de mole and they were much better than I thought they would be. At most Mexican restaurants the mole tastes very much like it was bought at the same place. Not the case here.
I will definitely be back.

We decided to give them a try after reading several Unilocal reviews. The average Unilocal rating was a 3. I must agree with the average rating. Although our waiter, Alejandro was very attentive, the food portion sizes were not worthy of the pricey range. The celebrated father in our group was not satisfied with just two cheese/​mushrooms/​spinach enchiladas. The vegetarian in our group needed to return his cheese enchiladas due to the meat in the chili sauce. He was beyond satisfied with the return version of his dish.
The fajitas were very tender. However, I would have preferred my tortillas arrive in a tortilla container as opposed to being wrapped in a warm black table cloth napkin. The salsas were ok and the cheese queso was perfect. The great thing about our experience today is the fact there was no crowd or long wait to be seated this Father’s Day.

Dined in for dinner and drinks on a Friday evening… our Ladies night! Our group of moms had a reservation, and were seated at a nice table near the bar/​lounge area.
The décor of this place is very nice, dressy and latin. The dining room is large, and theres a separate bar/​lounge area with a small stage for live music. Friday night it was salsa, and lots of people heading to and from the bar area to dance, and back to their table. Good for people watching.
The food was good, the service was not. Our group showed up 1 by one, and the server didn’t ever come to our table until we flagged her down. She literally disappeared for 10 minutes at a time. We had to ask repeatedly for water, chips, and salsa refills. I had the mango and chicken salad, very fresh and tasty. Others had fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas. All pretty authentic and good quality.
The service was just so poor. We had a good time nonetheless, but seeking out your server every few minutes, is a bad look for a restaurants customer service.
I probably won’t return, as I don’t live in the area, but was suggested only by someone in our group.

It reminds me of this restaurant names Cactus Flower when I was in Florida, why… well it has a fresh taste to every dish I have ordered. Fresh vegetables, seasoning and spice. I wouldn’t call it your ordinary mexican restaurant by no means.
This is my second time here and I know the last dish I had was so good. I tried their Salad with Camarones meaning Shrimp. I have to say I was a little disappointed. It was okay. but not great. I would recommend the chef to add a bit more seasoning to bring out the flavors but who am I to say. lol. This is just my opinion. I did like the fact that the combination of mangos w cheese and spinach leaves topped with Shrimp was a great combination. Just that little bit of extra flavor was missing. Other than that I really enjoyed it.
Love their feel of El Rancho. meaning Ranch. but in an upscale version of it. Rustic I should say. there is plenty of seating and the staff is wonderful here. They really make you feel as if you were on a vacation. Did I mention their fresh guacamole? My goodness… please try it. love that they add lime and the seasoning they add was perfection. I prefer more lime in mine but I had to share so I was being considerate.
I was on a work meeting lunch so I couldn’t necessarily take pictures on this occasion but next time I will. Overall this is a nice lunch and dinner spot. So let’s get to the awesome part of this restaurant. If your looking to have drinks after a hard Day of work or on the weekend they also have Mariachis and I heard they have a Latin band on some nights. They even open part of the floor so you can dance! How great is that… have I convinced you yet? Hahahhaha…
I’m sure you will enjoy the classy rustic casual feel this place has to offer.
And yes… when I visit places I like to not only enjoy the food but also indulge in the experience of my surroundings. ;)
