Candlewood Suites Houston-Westchase

The staff was very nice. The hotel looked great and easy drive up access. Parking was plentiful and clean. Lobby, gym, laundry and pantry room looked nice. My check in process was smooth and quick. The elevators are old and out of date. The hallways looked presentable. Along the main floor wall just next to the elevator were DVDs to rent. The DVD player looked a bit old but I didn’t turn it on to know how well it functioned. Upon first entry into the room it looked presentable. It was freezing when I walked in. I love to sleep with air conditioning and fans but that was too cold even for me. I couldn’t turn it off from the a/​c unit. Eventually I realized there was another thermometer that controlled the unit along the wall. As I first laid on the bed an eighth legged critter ran across the bed. I didn’t mind such a tiny spider but I did mind the roach in the toilet. Would have been 5 stars but critters absolutely drain star level. The room also didn’t have a wine opener or local restaurant menus in room. This was disappointing. The menus were downstairs at the front desk. We ended up ordering Chinese to the restaurant from a place we found on Unilocal called China cottage. The food was great from there but they forgot egg rolls. I will review them as well

Lady at front desk was nice and showed us around first. Rooms wee nice and good space and nice furnishings. Place is not in the safest area, however, and smelled strongly of people’s cooking (lady said most of their extended stay residents cook a lot of Indian food). Good deals long term but I prefer a better location. Traffic can be rough in Houston so stay near where you are working or have to be.

Very Friendly staff. Was upgraded to a nice quiet sweet. Love the cleanliness of the hotel. Just be sure to book early for the best rates. They have a nice collection of movies to choose from on the lazy or rainy days. Also if you like to cook they also have crockpots, blenders, waffle makers, toasters, and other small appliances for you to borrow. There are a few places around to choose to eat from. A Cheddars restaurant is directly on the other side to have a nice lunch or dinner at as well.
