My new favorite late night spot! Nice hidden restaurant that offered such a fun atmosphere and great grilled skewers. I love the pork belly, fish, mushroom, lamb, shrimp… all of them were marinated well and so savory, very yummy. I do feel like the yogurt sake we ordered was water down and lighter than usual. However, the food made up for the drink so I ain’t complaining. The place was packed with slow service but the girls were nice and accommodating. I had great time and definitely would be back soon!

They just forgot my order for more than an hour even though we asked them about 4 times before we decided to walk out of the place.

I went in regardless of the bad reviews on Unilocal because my coworkers told me they had cold noodles. But man, the cold noodles tasted like there is only one seasoning. It was so bland, no where near authentic. The skewers were very bland too, almost seemed like they rushed them out and forgot about putting seasonings on.

I come here pretty regular since it first opened, even had my friends’ band performed here a couple of years ago. I can tell you I know the place very well. While the dishes are pretty decent(I highly recommend the spicy lamb and the sweet corn bone port soup), boys don’t the waitresses have some attitude issue. They looked like they really didn’t want to be here, dragging their feet, and didn’t even look at you while taking your order. This one girl, who even dropped the menu(instead of handing them to us), and just asked«what do you want?» It wasn’t even a busy day, It was just us and two other tables. It was very rude and ended up to be a very bad dining experience.

I had the pan fried seafood udon and the sausage and lamb on a stick. A little advice for the skewers: When they say medium hot they mean HOT. I like a little hot and the medium is pretty smokin’. You have the choice of mild, medium, and hot. Next time I’ll try the mild. All around pretty solid food which is the norm around this part of Bellaire. Competition is too high to turn out a crappy product and this is yet another good Asian place to add to the already long list.

Came here on sat night and the place was quiet empty. We ordered a variety of bbq dishes and they were all covered in sweet and salty sauce. Wa too much sauce in all bbq dishes. The food was very expensive and costed over 50 for two for late night snack. The beef bbq we ordered were barely cooked and they refused to exchange. The worst Chinese restaurant in Chinatown plaza. Bad food, bad service and expensive.

Terrible place. We sat fir literally 30 mins and still no food. That’s after 15 mins of waiting for the waitress to come & take the order… and that’s only bc we flagged them down. This place used to be good & cheap but they have increased the price significantly and the service & food quality has gone down big time. There are so many good restaurants in Houston nowadays… why even bother with this place? .

Was here again, was really pleased with this experience. The portion was huge! or we ordered too much I guess… Everything was good but we have to take some to-go boxes… Perfect place for some authentic dishes:)

Got szechuan beef($ 9), mushroom soup($ 22) and jelly bean($ 8 for small plate) I love the jelly bean(it’s eaten cold!), consists of flat noodle(i think), sesame oil and bean sprout. I like jelly bean alot! The only thing I like about the soup is the corn. I didn’t like soup that much but it’s good overall. They didn’t have white rice(:P for an chinese restaurant. that kinda sucks. lol) szechuan beef(a little spicy) not so bad either! Lots of veggies!

Wow some of the reviews for Café Yummy are horrible to read… But unlike other people, I’ve had pretty good experiences here! Maybe you need to be able to speak Chinese(or come with someone who can) to enjoy this place. The best time to come here is when it’s cold outside, and you can get a huge pot of delicious pork bone soup hot pot! There are three different ones to choose from, but honestly they’re all about the same because they have the same ingredients(bean curd sheets, assorted mushrooms, corn, etc). The flavor is awesome! And it totally warms you up from the inside out :). We also usually get the spicy cold noodles(liang pi), although I actually prefer the spicy oil noodles(you po mian). My favorite spicy noodles ever! These noodles have great texture and flavor, I definitely recommend either of them. Also, the lamb with bread is worth a try. It’s almost like a Chinese gnocchi. They rip up small pieces of bread and it gets soaked in the lamb soup. You might think it would just get soggy and fall apart, but it actually retains its chewiness and texture. I don’t particularly like the skewers here(lamb skewers are super heavily seasoned), but the other dishes I’ve tried have been pretty good. The mushroom sizzling dish, lamb chops, and pork ribs are really flavorful! Give this place a chance! Get the pork bone soup and share it with some family and friends. :)

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Chinatown with amazing, tasty dishes that are flavorful and showcase the best of Chinese cuisine. When you first walk in, you’ll feel like your in one of the small booths that line the streets of Taipei. The café is decked out in Christmas lights with a random eclectic collection of wall decorations(from Asian umbrellas to corona and Heineken neon light signs). But don’t let the strange décor put you off because the food is great! My favorite dish here is the cold mung bean jelly dish(Liang Pi). This is a cold noodle dish where the noodles are clear and have the consistency of thick rice noodles. They are topped with a special spicy sauce and vegetables and made to perfection. I also love the braised beef ribs as well as their skewers(beef, chicken, shrimp). However, the only drawback is that you’ll need to bring someone who is somewhat fluent in Chinese/Chinese cuisine because most of the workers do not have good English skills. They are very uncomfortable communicating in English which makes them seem unfriendly and standoffish. However, the moment you speak Chinese they immediately open up and become friendly.

Oops! I forgot my review! I only tried the soup pot and the barbeque here so far they are all good. I really like bone marrow and they give you big marrow bones(two) in the soup pot! The broth is really flavorful and we usually end up drinking some. My friends told me that the cold noodles are also really good but I haven’t got to it yet but I sure will try soon. I tried the fish fillets boiled in hot sauce and that wasn’t so good. Wouldn’t order it again. The décor is nice and modern and service is pretty good. Overall it’s a recommended place!
