Decent barbecue at a decent price. Nothing bad or fantastic about this restaurant. Just a good place to have a quick lunch and have a nice baked potato. Been coming for almost 10 years. Very nice staff.

Whoever says that bbq here is good should be banned from ever making another review. This could be the worst I have ever had. The brisket was OK, the turkey dry, and omg I had to soak my chicken in water to give it a little moisture as any it may have had was cooked out of it several hours before it was taken out of the smoker and I wish they would have taken off all the feathers before serving it. As for sides the potato salad had no salt or pepper or any other flavor, beans out of a can… Blah The only thing that was good was the cobbler. Sorry to sound harsh but inedible in my opinion.

This is an average bbq lunch place. It seems to get pretty packed packed during lunch. However the line moves pretty quick and they get your order out very fast. I ordered the baked potato chopper Beef and barbecue sauce. I thought it tasted pretty decent. There seems to be a lot of regulars here so I plan to come back to try some of the other menu items. This place is been around for a long time and is not the cleanest place. Service is excellent

I showed up on a Saturday at noon and immediately noticed that only two tables were occupied. That should have been all the warning needed, but I’m one of those that has to be hit in the head with a brick. I chose the all you can eat special of ribs and sausage for $ 10.95. My sides were bbq beans, potato salad, bloody mary sauce — mixture of hot and spicy and sweet, and sweet tea. Ribs — meat takes on a funkiness when it has been re-heated and the ribs had that distinct funk. There appeared to be some sort of rub, but the ribs were bland and smokey. Sausage — one of the better sausages I’ve had in the area when it comes to texture. Many bbq restaurants serve sausage that has the texture of bologna, but this one was hearty. Taste relied heavily on black pepper — overpowering. BBQ Beans — ranch style beans. Yuck! Potato salad — one the better ones I have ever had. Perfect blend of mustard and I believe mayo. I was tempted to go back for seconds on just the potato salad and the only reason I gave any stars at all. Bloody Mary Sauce — again… Yuck! Stick with the sweet sauce. It’s not great, but is eatable. In order to get a refill on your drink you had to go back through the line — insane! Put the refill station out where it is readily accessible to those who have their food and are seated. Otherwise, someone making rounds with refills would be a novel idea. Also, to get a second helping on the all you can eat required going back through the line. The funniest part of this whole experience is when you pay after you get your food you have the option of including a tip. FORWHAT?! If you needed anything you had to get up and get it yourself. One would be hard pressed to get me to go back.

They’re an okay place to eat on occasion. Their potatoes are pretty special… But the rest leaves much to be desired… If you’re hungry though… This place serves a purpose.

When Hubby & I were Newlyweds we ate here often because it was close-by. Then we moved away. The stuffed potatoes were always my favorite. But, we both still LOVE their Peach Cobbler! I just picked some up for our July 4th holiday. The best ever! Sausage is good too!!! PS… Married 33 years in May.

7÷8÷1412:04 — Been around for 30 years and under new management. The interior looks like its also been around for 30 years. Its location is most likely how it has survived that long. I scored Brown Sugar’s a 77 out 100. This is Regional Texas BBQ. Smoke: Cook says red oak but website lists Hickory. I saw some rather large logs in the back. The one holding the door open looked like oak. An old smoke stack protrudes through the roof. Could not get a glimpse of the cooker but judging by the stack and age of restaurant I am guessing there is a Olyer under that stack. Brisket: Good. An impressive 5/16in smoke ring and yet more proof of an Olyer. It ate tough of tender with a generous push with fork to separate. Could not detect any seasoning. Good smoke flavor. Use the sauce. Ribs: Fair. The spare rib was overcooked to the point it fell off the bone. It started out moist but quickly dried out. No smoke ring. Overall flavor was smoke and pork. Could not detect any seasoning. Use the sauce. Sausage. Very Good. A course ground beef link with bold spice and strong after taste. Some smoke flavor. Best meat on the plate. No sauce needed. Sauce: Good. They have two sauces here. If you asked for both they blend them together and call it a Bloody Mary. I would not recommend that. I got them separate to try both. My favorite was the spicy. Its thick tangy sweet and spicy. Drown the plate. I did not care for the mild. It was sweet and had strong ginger flavor.

Im surprised to find this place with such low reviews. I have never been disappointed any time I have come here. The prices are good, portion sizes are good. There are tons of meat options every time I have been there. On a rare occasion I have had some dried out meats. The place is also in a horrible part of town(Gunspoint). I would not drive to get here but since I work in the area and the options are limited this is at the top of the list for the neighborhood.

Not the best… but not bad either. I ordered the 3 meat dinner. Ribs, brisket, sausage, potato salad and beans. Not bad for $ 10. Service was cool and place was clean. I will visit again.

I was craving Chicken n Waffles. We lucked up n found a BBQ place that serves it. It wasn’t bad, nice n hot, waffle was pretty good. Not as good as Roscoes but I have to say, not bad. Maybe because Black and genetically predisposed to like chicken or maybe because it was actually good.

Good BBQ — I got the sliced brisket and sausage with the spicy barbecue sauce. It’s pretty tasty. I got green beans and mashed potatoes, which were fine. Staff was vey friendly, and the place wasn’t terribly busy. I will definitely come back.

I tried to give this place a fair shake, since it is kind of close to work. A co-worker suggested it and I said why not. I should have listened to the latest reviews and not the shill one, just had that gut feeling. The chopped beef BBQ sandwich was not good and the bread had the stale then steamed again type consistency, which im sure is what it was. The sides all tasted like they came from a can and everyone else who ate with me agreed, this is not a place we would come back to.

This is by far the worst BBQ I have ever had the misfortune to put into my mouth. EVER. I went in looking for something savory and smoky. What I got was some meat that was tough and dry covered in a sauce that tasted like ketchup with liquid smoke and LOTSANDLOTSANDLOTS of brown sugar. I thought the name of the place was a nod to the molasses that goes into BBQ sauce. Nope, it was their main ingredient. Honestly, I can’t say that I liked any of my sides either. They were poorly executed and tasted like they came out of a can. Nor can I say I liked the service, because other than ordering and pickup, there wasn’t any. Please, do yourself a favor and avoid the dodgy location, avoid the bad food, go further up or down the road and get something else. Even a McBBQ sandwich is better.
