Bridals By Nancy Tailoring & Alterations

I was really torn about writing this review… Nancy was recommended to me by a very good friend, but unfortunately I would not pass on the recommendation to anyone else.
Her hours are stated as opening at noon Monday through Saturday. I tried going twice at noon on two separate days, and the place was closed both times. Keep in mind this place is in Rice Village, and I had to make trips over here around lunch time (aka traffic/​parking was a nightmare).
I had to have a bridesmaid dress altered — Nancy had written down a pick up date for the both of us. On that day (I had made 2 trips that day since she was not there the first time), she told me that the dress wasn’t ready yet. Okay, that’s fine, but I would’ve appreciated a call in advance…
Nancy is a very sweet lady, her prices are reasonable, and she did a fabulous job with my alterations. But the whole process was very unpleasant, so I will not be returning.
If you are planning on making a visit, make sure you call ahead to ensure that she is open.

Highly recommend Nancy! She really saved me when I got my dress back from Ventura’s Bridal and the belt was falling off and the buttons weren’t sewn in securely and the bustle was done wrong. (Ventura’s then couldn’t fit me in for any more alterations). Nancy basically redid all of Ventura’s work and only charged $ 200! She redid the hemline, the bustle, fixed the boning in the bodice, redid the buttons down the back and redid the belt! I gave her a tip because I couldn’t believe the price for all her work. She also finished all of that in one month, two weeks before she said it would be done. I had no issue with her not showing up or not answering the phone. Her shop is small and things are scattered everywhere but she is actually very organized.

Highly recommend her! She’s really nice, fast, and very reasonably priced. My mother recommended her and I’ve been going to her since.

No hours posted online or on their door and no one answers the phone (even during «business» hours). Waited 30 minutes for someone to return from lunch one afternoon as their sign said… No show. Very inconvenient for anyone on a 8 – 5 work schedule!

I’ve only been here once, but will definitely be back if i need any alterations again. I came in August needing alterations done on my wedding gown for October. Nancy is very patient, quick, efficient, & reasonably price. She was able to alter my mom’s gown as well around the same time frame. I was worried because of the many layers, beading, & short time frame. She reassured me that she was able to do so. My gown needed to be taken in at the waist & hemmed. I was able to do two fittings with her (due to my schedule) & everything came out perfect! My moms gown was adjusted at the shoulders & waist. she loved hers as well. She only accepts cash so be sure to keep that in mind.

I highly recommend Nancy if you’re looking for a good job at a low price. I had a wedding dress that was 10 sizes too big and quite a piece if work to take in, but Nancy fitted it well, hemmed it, added cups to the bust, and added a bustle for $ 180! I gave her an extra $ 20 just because I felt like she deserved more after all that work! A nearby seamstress had estimated $ 750! DEFINITELY glad I went to Nancy for a second opinion.
Like others have said, her shop is a little crazy, but don’t let if turn you away! She does a great job and is very kind, making you feel very comfortable the whole time.

I’m confused by these high reviews. Nancy wasn’t that helpful to me. Luckily, I brought a bridesmaid. After the first fitting, I tried my dress on at her shop and the front was crooked. I was tripping on it on one side. Also, the bustle was longer than what we had originally decided on. She fixed those problems just fine, but I feel like those mistakes shouldn’t have been made to begin with. When I tried to pay with credit card, she said she only takes cash. That would’ve been nice to know… I had to go find an ATM and come back with cash. Would not come back here or recommend her.

Brought my wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress here for tailoring given the convenient location and good reviews on Unilocal.Nancy is very kind and sweet. You bring in your items and there’s a curtained changing area in the back of the store that you are directed to. You change then she comes in and pins you and chats with you about what you’d like. She also has cups/​pads on hand for you if you want to see what your dress will look like with padding sewn in.
I found her pricing to be very reasonable given the extensiveness of the work she’s doing on my dress, which has a lace overlay and requires a bit more finesse. She’s sewing in pads, tightening the chest area, reworking the neckline into a sweetheart, and adding in bustle points for about $ 150. She also will call you in for a re-​fitting once she’s done and she’ll do more work on if if you’re not satisfied.
For the bridesmaid dress, I had the shoulders taken up, the sides slimmed, and the hemline taken up for about $ 40. It was a nice dress with flowy material so I didn’t want an amateur tailor to mess it up.
I haven’t been called back yet for re-​fitting but I’ll update with how it turns out. I wanted to post this now in case anyone was looking for an inexpensive dress tailor in the village. Remember to bring shoes to try on with your dress! She takes walk-​ins and takes credit.

I am SO happy I found Nancy! After reading the reviews for seamstresses, most reviews were bad, and I started to panic, hoping I could find someone that wouldn’t ruin my dress with poor tailoring. However, I didn’t need to worry, because my dress came out beautifully. I was also in a rush because I was getting married out of state and she was able to accommodate me with no problem. I definitely recommend her!

Fast and great taloration

I took my wedding dress to be altered here after a recommendation from my mom. Usually I wouldn’t go to Asian tailors, but my mom trusted her (it’s not her friend) and the fact that she’s in Rice Village and has a large American clientele, I went with it.
Nancy did an awesome job on my dress. I had a corset wedding dress that was too big, so she reduced the hips and shortened the length… and I have a LOT of beading on my dress! She charged $ 80, where if I had taken my dress to where I purchased my dress (a major wedding gown vendor), it would’ve cost be $ 160.
Her shop, however, is questionable. It looks like it’s been hit with a tornado, but try not to let that hinder your judgment.
