The ice cream was ok(though not as good as some other brands). However, the staff was not very friendly, seemed bored, and irritated.

I’ve always loved Blue Bell ice cream. They have some great southern flavors going on. For a major treat try the banana pudding. I normally find banana flavored desserts extremely artificial and gross, but that one works(yes they use artificial flavoring). On this particular visit, we were trying to spend time while waiting for our plane. Ended up buying the kids ice cream in the terminal. They both had strawberry. Big chunks of strawberries and the ice cream tasted very fresh. Of course, it was overpriced being the airport. Tiny little cup. Minus one star.

***Blue Bell Ice Cream is a regional ice cream brand that you will find in grocery stores and baseball stadiums in the south(its headquarters is in Texas); this stand is in the United Express terminal at Houston International Airport; they have a good variety of hand scooped flavors though typical grocery store flavors like chocolate, cookies and cream, cookie dough, and so on; their ice cream is similar to Baskin-Robbins in terms of texture and flavor; their mint chocolate chip was decent and it was a good portion size though it was also a little icy; still, it is nice to get a dessert in an airport that is more local /regional to the area*** This Blue Bell Ice Cream stand is located past security so it is only open to air travelers. I am not sure what the parking situation is, but I imagine parking is expensive like other airports.

I love Blue Bell ice cream and having tried it for the first time last year, I’m always happy to have an opportunity to get some when I’m in Texas(or one of the lucky states to get it). This is a tiny kiosk with a lot going on, but about 6 tubs of Blue Bell. Pricey at almost four bucks for a really small cup. Isnt’ everything supposed to be bigger in Texas? I’m not complaining because a cup of vanilla really makes the lay over in Houston worth my while.

I was hoping for a quick grab’n go treat as I rushed from one terminal to my connecting flight on the other side of the airport, I had less than 20 minutes. A quick food stop complete with ice cream, froyo, snacks and smoothies. Frozen yogurt is my guilty pleasure pretty much anytime of day so I had to stop for a cone. It’s a little pricey, but nothing is cheap inside an airport. I went with strawberry froyo in a waffle cone for just over $ 4. The woman behind the register took my order like it was a painful chore. I handed her my Discover card. She swipes it and responds, «sorry, we don’t take ‘Discovery». I hand her another and she completed the order, handed me my recipe and continued to take the next person in lines order. I really hate paying someone to roll their eyes at me and not provide me with the items in which I just paid for. I stood there waiting, waiting, and waiting. It was probably only 30 seconds, but it seemed like a lot longer when your in a rush to catch a flight. I flagged over another person who was behind the counter fiddling their thumbs and said, «Strawberry in a waffle cone?!» They went and got it and waved me over to the other register to ring me up. Yeah, I already paid for this… glad I kept my receipt rather than throwing it right away like I normally do. While the froyo was super good, the service was painfully awful.
