I just moved to the Westheimer/Gessner area so in the last month and we have probably visited the Westheimer/Gessner store at least 5 or 6 times. I wish I could remember the names of all of the wonderful employees who have helped us so far. However, it should be noted that every staff member we have had contact with has been professional and friendly. We have been warmly greeted every single time we entered(we are usually there on a Saturday or Sunday sometimes both). Our purchases have been cheerfully and quickly rung up. Our items have been bagged with care — even the fragile items.
One particular employee was even more outstanding than the rest(and that’s saying something based on how great all of the other employees at this store have been). Kenny was truly outstanding and I know that my boyfriend feels that Kenny probably saved his life — because I was surely furious with my boyfriend. LOL We had been in on a Saturday afternoon and I wanted to purchase a three panel wooden and burlap screen/room divider with French writing on it. My boyfriend rushed me out of the store instead of just letting me take 5 minutes to buy it. He said we’d come back the next day to buy it. Of course when we came back the next day it was gone. I was not happy at all. God bless Kenny. He patiently called at least three or four stores trying to find the panels I wanted. Kenny saved the day by finding another screen in Katy. Kenny was not only efficient but he was also really sweet and funny about it.

I purchased a Simmons couch from here today and I must say I was really impressed with the service I got. Kenny, the customer service member advised me that although he was new to helping people finance furniture, he was more than willing to help. He was really patient and eager to make sure that I was well informed about my purchase. I never imagined buying furniture from Big Lots but they do have some nice pieces and it’s cheap! The sectional couch I got for $ 699 was over $ 800 at Exclusive Furniture so I ended up with a really good deal.

Went in for Thanksgiving supplies 16 days before the big day, and they already had those items in clearance and Xmas stuff was everywhere instead. Didn’t mind getting the items I needed for my turkey day tablescape on the cheap, but was surprised to not see many options left. It took awhile to check-out, but other than that nothing problematic. Remember to sign up for their rewards card if you shop often in order to rack up points to earn a 20% off coupon… if I remember right.

Big Lots is located on Westheimer and S. Gessner in the same shopping center with Yao Restaurant, Tuesday Morning, Kasra Persian Grill, Pappa’s BBQ and Churrasco’s among others. Big Lots is pretty much a mini grocery store. They have some stuff that you might need, but then again, they might not have some stuff that you might need. For example, this particular location does not sell peanut butter or jam. I’ve never been able to find them here. Another thing they don’t sell is bread. Obviously I was looking to buy bread, peanut butter, and jam to make some PB&J’s. But no, definitely didn’t happen. Oh, no milk or vegetables or fruits either. Unlike some other discount grocery stores(think dollar stores, or for those in the DFW area, think Aldi’s), Big Lots actually carry some of the brands that you might find in regular grocery stores(as opposed to just carrying same off-brand products or store brand products) at a discounted price. For example, I was able to find a Colgate 360 power toothbrush dual pack for $ 6.00. At other stores, you can expect to pay around $ 5EACH. This location also sells furniture, mattresses, and other household stuff. I can’t really vouch for the quality or the brands being sold since I’ve never really looked at the furniture they carry, but they are also being sold at a discount. Anyway, if you’re just looking for some basic cleaning stuff, or some shampoo/deodorants/toothbrush or whatever on the cheap. You can always swing by here and see if they have what you need. They also carry some basic pet stuff for your little furry friends.
