Great lunch place, even though the staff can be slow sometimes.

Came here after a wedding dress fitting with my friend. We were starving and luckily we were the only ones there. Well I order the Tex melt which was very good. My friend ordered the shrimp po boy, which she didn’t get to enjoy because they forgot to put in her order. That’s the only reason I am giving them 3 stars because their service sucked. Although the food was good.

The sandwiches are really good but the service is terrible. I’ve ordered the egg salad sandwich at this location twice and both times it took 20 minutes for them to make. Today there was no line when I ordered and it still took them 20 minutes to scoop egg salad onto two pieces of bread. It seems there is no system in place for them to make the sandwiches in order. I would suggest calling ahead unless you want to spend an unnecessary amount of time watching other people get their sandwiches before you even though you ordered first.

I’ve been eating these since I was a kid getting them from a grocery store. As good as those are, they are nothing like the fresh sandwiches at the original deli. This is one of my favorite places to eat.

I will definitely be back! We just moved to the area and saw a huge lunch crowd every day at Antones so decided to try it out one night. I ordered the original but can’t wait to try the shrimp po boy!

New to the area and every time I pass Antones at lunch the parking lot is full. The lady and I picked up a couple of po boys to go. She got the meatball and loved it. Good size meatballs and just enough sauce. I got the catfish and it was right on the money. I highly recommend these po boys, we’ll be back.

Sometimes you have to let go… I’m not paying 8 $ for a sandwich just because it has such fond memories for me.

I always make time for Antone’s when I’m back in Houston. I love this sandwich more than any other sandwich on the planet. This location is huge — you could have a party of 20 in here, easy. The staff were quick and efficient(dealing with both in-store customers and the drive through… yes, they have a drive through). No complaints. Keep that chow chow coming!

Love this place. I grew up in Houston, and Antones was a staple of my childhood, before baseball games, taken to the beach or on picnics, grabbed for quick dinners, etc. But for whatever reason, as an adult I haven’t been in years. My husband and I love the sandwiches here, and used to come by every couple of months to get our fix. So when I suggested it as a meeting location for our recent lunch together we were both happy with the choice and excited to try out our old favorite. Let me tell you we were not let down. The place, although the same old building, was revamped a smidge, with a fresh coat of paint. Inside you can either grab a quick sandwich from the cooler, along with chips or another of their sides. They provide a ton of side options such as house made hummus, tabouli, potato salad, coleslaw, deviled eggs, etc. Servings of these are pre-packed in the cooler as well. This makes for an insanely fast lunch option. Literally grab and go. Everything has a date on it too, so you know when it was prepared, and almost always its same day. Of course any of their sandwiches can be ordered at the counter, and made to your liking. The list of sandwiches is extensive, with both hot and cold choices. They also have a great menu of hot plates such as seafood, soups and gumbo. Simple, but adorable little place for lunch. It was clean, with plenty of indoor seating, and even a small outdoor patio for nice weather days. You will not be disappointed. One downfall, parking lot is small and sloped, and often filled to capacity.

Had high hopes for the sandwich shop but after three days post Egg salad sandwich I can say I don’t want to throw up. I am betting they have storage and temp issues. I did not make an ER visit but was genuinely I’ll for 3 days. What a bummer. I was hoping it was still a good place for me to eat but it is not. I will not be back. My hubby also did not feel good stomach-wise the next day after the turkey and Swiss.

I have been coming here since I was little and love the food. But for the first time I was disappointed, drove 25 minutes to this location on Sunday and got there at 4:10 when the website and sign on the door says Sunday business hours open –5. Yet they were closed an hour early for whatever reason… Wasted my time and gas to race across town just to be let down.

This place is great! Great staff, great fast food. The location is very convenient as well! I’ve been going there for about three years now and every time is a good experience.

Went for lunch. Hit up drive thru. No wait and ordering was simple. Prices kind of high for the amount of food you get. Decided to try to catfish seafood platter. Two pieces of catfish, fries, two hush puppies and cole slaw. Food not bad but nothing to scream about. Will try a poboy next time since that’s what they are known for.

This to me is a five star place. Never crowded, but food is always fresh. Casual atmosphere, able to meet with a group, free refills, always a different special. They know what they do well, and they stick to it. Their employees are friendly and helpful. Love their selection of specialty drinks like topo chicos and chips cooked in better quality oils. My husband and I love riding our bikes here, meeting for lunch, or coming with a group after church. Houston’s best kept secret for sure! I recommend the oyster po boy, original, turkey Swiss, even their salads are great!

I asked for double the meat and cheese and the clerk seemed to not understand that simple request as he muttered something about the«double everything», and I reiterated double meat and cheese. What I got was double everything, which made the bread too soggy and the sandwich difficult to eat. Good tasting food like I remembered, but it is amazing how someone paid to listen to an order cannot listen to a simple order and falls into a template of something which is probably on the menu. Credit the advanced human brain for such problems.

Great ingredients, and tasty receipts. My only complaints is: They give you 4oz of French Fries as a side, which is around 10 fries. It’s seems a little stingy. Overall, a good expreience and I would love to retrun for more!

As good as I remember!!! Been there a thousand times. The Taft location was my favorite. Tired a hot sandwich today. It was wonderful especially the au jus. Very tasty. Still love the«red» wrapped sandwich. Yum

This place is located approximately 5 minutes from my job in the Heights. I’ve passed by it a 1,000 times and never thought of going. I was fiending for a Shrimp Po Boy and ordered one from Antones. I was thoroughly disappointed. There were 6 pieces of shrimp on the entire sandwich. The shrimp were overcooked, and the bread was hard as a rock. I literally had skin missing from the roof of my mouth. I asked for a side of fries, and there couldn’t have been more than 12. I will say the sauce on the Po boy itself was really good, I give them a single star for that alone.

GET A WARMSANDWHICH!!! If you’re like me, you assume this place just has the same cold sandwiches you see in the gas stations around town. If so, you couldn’t be more wrong! Try the French Dip, New Orleans style Roast Beef, or Tex-Mex Cheese Steak! Personally my favorite order is the New Orleans style Roast Beef without Mayo and add a side of Au Jus! One of my favorite sandwiches I’ve ever had. I go back at least monthly. It’ll run you $ 9 with tax. Chips and a drink are extra. Lots of different flavored chips and sodas to try. Salads are decent too. Staff is friendly, clientele is mixed with a lot of businessmen during weekday lunch, and the place and bathrooms are well maintained. They also have a drive thru, but I would advise you call in your order. The place gets busy and service can be a little slow compared to fast food joints.

Another lousy corporate Antone’s better off with the sandwiches out the case at a grocery store or gas station. They’ve managed to screw up their once great heritage with complete corporate mediocrity, in short a travesty. My suggestion go to an «original Antones» there are 2 left, one by Reliant/NRG stadium, and the other in Bellaire. Skip this bovine scatology altogether.
