I drove from Austin to Houston to have bengali food, and I am glad to admit I wasn’t disappointed. Specially, I really liked the desserts. Fish was good, I took both fish curries, rohu/rui and illish/hilsa. I liked the service as well although, I might be biased as I am bengali myself. I am thankful they satisfied my home food craving and I am definitely coming back. Maybe they can add more fish dishes, the name is ‘all bengal’ and bengal lives and dies for sea food. Cheers!

Tried chicken patties and samosas. Based on the limited food we had it appeared good. Staff was nice too.

Kind of a hole in the wall, but they serve fantastic homestyle Bengali food. If you’ve never had Bengali food, you have to try it! Similar ingredients and dishes to Indian and Pakistani food but completely different in taste and execution. I absolutely adore their goat biryani. It’s no frills and seems simple but the flavor is just amazing. If you can leave it until the next day, that makes it even better. The goat curry is great as well. Again very different from Indian and Pakistani curry, but absolutely worth trying. I felt like I was eating at one of my Bengal friend’s home. It was very spicy, but flavorful. All of their food had a high level of spice so be warned. The only thing I didn’t love was the beef samosas. It was nice and crispy, but it needed more salt or something. The restaurant is spacious, but nothing fancy. It’s worth eating there for the experience but it’s not a date night spot or anything. There is also a grocery store attached with Indo-Pak, Bengali groceries. I was the only person in the restaurant who wasn’t from Bangladesh so you know the food is good and authentic.

I wish i can give minus point to this restaurant. we came all the way from dallas and then we went to have our dinner in this restaurant. from outside it was showing open sign and also in the internet and the gate it was showing open till 10 pm and we reached there at 8:30 and when we entered into the restaurant the owner saw us and he made us wait and then when we decided to order food he told us that the kitchen is rude and weird. we want some authentic bengali food thats why we came here but we will never go back to this restaurant in our life.

Best Bengali food in town! I drop by whenever I miss deshi food. Absolutely amazing. Service could be really good or really bad depending on who’s working. I could kill for their Shorshe Ilish, Rui Machher Jhol and Roshogolla! They have a small section of grocery attached with the seating area. Not a great collection but covers the basic. I ordered a tray of Gorur Mangsho Bhuna one time for a party and it was full of bones with only a few pieces of meat. I was not impressed. but of course I went back for deshi food duh!

Food is really good here, well almost always. You can taste authentic Bengali dishes, especially hilsa, goat curry and misti doi. Sometimes the management can be pretty bad. And they can keep you waiting for ages. The ambience is also poor. That one start i took away is because of that.

Ate here again. Still very good. Loved the appetizers — just bought a selection for two to share. Fish. As main dish — very spicy! Dessert selection very typical and delicious.

It’s a small Bangladeshi restaurant in Houston with good authentic Bengali food. I tried Fish chop, Hilsha in mustard, chicken curry and mixed vegetable with plain rice. All of the dishes were cooked well and the Bengali flavor was very prominent :) I specially liked the Hilsha fish. Well you cannot expect fresh Hilsha fish here in US :(, so obviously the flavor was little off. But it was as best as you could get of this classic Bengali dish in Houston. There were good amount of fish and chicken(2 – 3 pieces) in both dishes, so it was easy to mix and share :) I did not eat the vegetable mix, but my friend told it was good. Next time I would try the Sutki Vorta(spicy dried fish) which is another popular dish here. We finished it off with golapjam and sandesh in dessert. While the golapjam was ok, the sandesh was really to die for on that day!!! When we entered the restaurant the owner was just cutting the sandesh fresh from the oven! It was so fresh, soft and yummy; perfect amount of sugar. :) While I would give high mark on the taste, the ambiance and service was little off. Well, it’s a small joint, so I never had my hopes high. But they should definitely need to work on this. There was just one server and he was little aloof with our needs, most likely because at the same time he was also working on the food preparation: P. Rest room should be updated and restaurant can get help with a make-over. One thing I did not appreciate much that many dishes from the menu were not available at that time. Even though it was Sunday afternoon, they did not have their chicken biriyani prepared! And mix vegetable was the only main course available for vegetarians. If you plan to come here with your vegetarian friends, remember they would have very limited choices, but food would be tasty. I would not recommend this place for a big gathering of friends or party.

Its bangladeshi food in houston. Their sweets are awsome and authentic. Snacks are great too. I am not overly impressed with their regular foods though, curry and rice stuffs. They have a desi grocery store attached as well. People are friendly and you get to see lot of bangla speaking folks. One tip: don’t get too finnicky about their cleanliness if you really want to enjoy the food.

If you want to taste some goooood biriyani, don’t go any where. This place may not be fancy and ambiance may not be what u may expect, but the food overcomes everything — so tasty and flavorful. And don’t forget the traditional Bangladeshi desserts. You will not be disappointed.

Decent food. The customer service sucks though. I agree with a previous poster(Touhid) … I also found this elderly gentleman to be rude … in need for a serious customer service. They probably get away with this because this is the only Bangladeshi restaurant around.

It used to be a good place. The elderly employee is extremely rude. I mean it. Overall, seems like they do not care about their business anymore. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I took one of their fish dish and it tasted awful. I complained and they said«we prepared it and you must pay». I then insisted please redo it. The answer was same with very rude behavior. Finally, some other guy(he is nice) took care of it and discounted the price. My suggestion to the owner, please pay attention to customer service.

I wish it was closer to where I live. I would have gone there at least once a week for sure. If you go there you MUST try their daal puri with chutney. I can bet that you would not have eaten a tastier food — reminds me of the yummy street food flavors back in India. Their other must haves are — ChumChum & Chat. If you can overlook the ambience, the food is just AWESOME

Yummy, I’m so glad my hon took me here. The place is not that fancy, but I can for the food, and it didn’t disappoint me. I had the Fish Marsala and it was really delish. It has the lil snack which I adore too. Will be coming back.

I visit this place at least once a month to have a taste of Bangladeshi food. Till now I have tasted Hilsa, Rui, shutki varta(dry fish), chicken curry and chicken biriani and all of them are delicious. Their sweets(kacha golla and laddu) are also very good. There is a grocery beside the restaurant that sells raw food imported from Bangladesh. One thing I should mention, the place could be cleaner.

The food is tasty. However, some dishes are very oily. Also the place lacks cleanliness and hygiene. At times the food doesn’t look fresh and feel stale. Won’t recommend.

This is a Good restaurant for bangladeshi food. We ordered mixed vegetable, Sutki vorta, chickhen curry. all of which were great. Also we had rosogolla, chamcham and roshmalai. which were best as well. I strongly recommend this one if you go to Houston and want some Bangladeshi authentic food.

Tried the fish masala, chicken briyani, fish cutlets, and beef spring rolls. The highlight of the meal is definitely the fish cutlets — a deep-fried mix of fish and potato(kinda like fish croquettes) — haven’t seen this offered in any different Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Houston. I also think that they cook the chicken briyani using a bit different spices compared to other Indian/Pakistani restaurant — it’s just taste different to me. There are a lot of different sweets available too.
