So sad… This is/was my favorite BBQ place in Hot Springs. Where is the quality and cleanliness going? We arrived at 1:30 in the afternoon after the typical«lunch rush and we were the fourth table sitting, we were lucky to find a table to sit at. The dining room was a sea of filthy tables. I know everyone didn’t leave at once. The couple that came in after us actually moved someone else’s mess over and ate at a dirty table(plates and all-yuck!!) a bus boy came out finally and cleaned a few, but still left a huge mess… Who wants to eat in that? Come on guys! You’re better than that! Get back to great!

Their ribs was great but everything else was just okay. Had the trio meat combo and they were really dry. Wouldn’t go again.

First off, I haven’t been to McClards, but, I hear that place is good, you’ll have to check out that BBQ for yourself, but, one place I have tried for BBQ is Smokin’ In Style. It is lip smackin’ good. You walk in and read the menu on the wall and place your order. You then take a seat and wait on your number to be called out. I’d never been there before so I didn’t know what to expect so naturally I over ordered. I ordered too much and I’m a big guy. On your first visit do this — order the«regular» sized sandwich, that by itself would have been enough for me, but, since it was my first time and didn’t know what to expect I ordered the jumbo or whatever it is called. I ordered french fries too and they were pretty good, but, completely unnecessary.(My sister ordered the onion rings, they looked better than the fries to me.) Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that the sandwich will more than likely be enough for you. Now, a normal person would have simply ordered the sandwich and fries, but, since I love tamales and I saw them on the menu, I went ahead and ordered that too. Well, I’m glad I did, ’cause I now know that they are very good(and different than any other tamale I’ve ever had before, you’ll just have to try it for yourself to know what I mean), but, I was all the more miserable when I left ’cause I over did it. Final word, if you want a really good cheap lunch, go there and order a regular sandwich or one of the other smaller plates for your meal — the tamales alone would make a pretty good lunch — sit back and enjoy.

ordered take out of ribs, sausage sandwich, baked potato salad & fries. Order was ready when we arrived(15 mins). Friendly staff, average pricing, very clean premises and kitchen area. Ribs were moist, meaty & and had a rub with a mild«kick» … awesome. fries were soggy and covered with a «spicy» peppery mix(terrible). I would order fries w/o spice. Sausage sandwich and baked potato salad were both great! I would go back and eat in and take out. If take out, I would check fries before leaving.

I’ve been coming here for years and the ribs can be sublime. However, they no longer slice the brisket to order and you get thin, grey slices the consistency of cardboard. Watch out for day-old ribs that are not a succulent pink. When the ribs are on, they are beyond compare.

Ok, I like BBQ and beer. This place is just the ticket. Not fancy, but very clean and a friendly staff. The ribs and fries were terrific. Very tender and flavorful with a great choice of sauces. The sliced beef sandwich was huge and really good. The beer selection was not the biggest that I have seen, but it is a BBQ place not a brewery. The beer is cold! We will here eat here again.

Plan on a carry out when you go. The portions are above average and the taste is excellent. WE have been there many times and will go again. I enjoyed the sampler platter. This needs to be for two people.

Something has changed. Smoked meat and beans taste like oak rather than the Arkansas traditional hickory that it used to be. Not as good a flavor. Good selection of sauce. Great baked potato salad. Worth a go. As a suggestion, if you go with oak like they do in the east, burn it down to coals and then smoke with the coals only. That’s how they get away with it in South Carolina and Georgia. Otherwise your product is going to taste a bit like a burnt house. And that’s what I came away with. It used to be really awesome smoked meat with a variety of acceptable sauces.

The bbq and pulled pork were good, not my all time favorite, but good. We loved the different sauces! And the baked potato salad was DELISH!

The Rib cage bbq is so much better than the bbq here. Cafeteria style bbq that seems to be coasting.

When I first walked in I was impressed and excited, but when I got to the register, Autumn was very unfriendly and made me feel like I was bothering her with my questions. While my spirits were dampened, the food was quite tasty!

We were in Hot Springs, AK, boyhood home of President Bill Clinton, for a wedding. I was craving some southern bbq and was given this place as a recommendation from one of the locals. It was busy for a Friday during lunch time, but perhaps that is their norm. I think anyone and everyone was here from the local cops, lawyers, retired friends getting together for lunch, etc. I was not surprised how everyone knew everyone in this small town. It was a unique experience for me, especially for this girl who grew up in a big city like Atlanta. I was amazed at the size of the restaurant. You get in line and order your food and then they give you a number. It was a quick and easy process. The price was affordable as well as the beer! A small pitcher of budlight(48oz.) was only $ 3! You can’t beat that! There was even a drive thru! We ordered a full rack of ribs and a side of french fries and green beans. I wanted to order everything off the menu, but I knew I wouldn’t have been able to finish it. I enjoyed the ribs, they were good and the meat fell off the bone. The sauces were good as well! I don’t like a lot of sauce, so I do like that they don’t sauce it up for you. Overall, if you’re in the area, come try this BBQ! You won’t be disappointed with the ribs! Also, if you’re not driving, order that pitcher of beer or two because that’s the best price I have ever seen in my life!

Had a rib type of platter with several different sides. The ribs here literally fall off the bone, and the best side tried was the«Baked Potato Salad». Friendly staff give a nice greeting, and are happy to offer suggestions when you let them know you are a first time visitor. Repeat visits are a must.(And a lot of napkins).

I can see more trips to Hot Springs in the future because of this place. I got the Sampler platter and that was probably the most food I’ve ever received at a BBQ restaurant for $ 17. It has ribs, sausage, beef, and pork. The ribs were really good and had a nice rub to them. The beef was juicy… not the best but very good. Pork was a little dry. But surprisingly to me was the sausage! I usually don’t get sausage too often when I come back, I will be getting sausage. What really makes the meat really good are their sauces. Their sauces mixes well with all the meats. 4 to choose from… a tangy, tomato vinegar and a honey molasses with Spicer versions. None are really hot but does have a kick. Baked beans were very good and they seemed to be homemade. Baked potato salad was made of sour cream and really good. This place was also very crowded and had people still coming in. The worst part to me was their sweet tea. It was not very sweet but I’ve had worse. In summary, if you are hungry, great place to go because they give a lot of food compared to other BBQ places. Sauces mix well with all meat and the ribs and sausage were very good. The only reason I give it a 4 star is because I’ve had better BBQ but this is good enough to come back again and again.

I’m was born and raised in Hot Springs and I know McClard’s is a staple and iconic place, but this BBQ is the best in the city and dare I say the state. I consider myself a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to BBQ and everywhere I try is nested against Smokin’ in Style.(This is not a review to knock McClard’s because it has the tamale plate which is unreal and it’s of course McClard’s) They have incredible portions for very very low prices and the BBQ is always moist, flavorful, and what BBQ should be. They also have very good bucket beer and pitcher prices($ 2.50 for domestic) if that is important to you. You can bet if you want BBQ in the state of Arkansas and don’t care about the nostalgia of McClard’s this place is where you need to go. They are in a weird location for my side of town because I’m off Carpenter Dam, but it’s well worth the drive to get this food. Try this place and McClard’s will be what it is, a thing from the past. You will never go anywhere else for GREATBBQ.

Not good BBQ at all, some of the worst brisket I’ve ever had — watery? Found a bone in her chicken sandwich too. Based on strong Unilocal reviews, we came here when in town from NYC for a wedding. The first place we went(McClard’s) had chicken on Wednesdays only so we came here instead. Easy parking and a rather relaxed layout inside, we walked right up to the register to order. Less than $ 20 later, we had ordered lunch — 3 minutes later, we had our food. My food.. . pretty bad. The brisket had the texture of water, low on flavor, just too thin and dead. There was a smoke ring, but it could have been painted on. The sauces made it better, but the meat by itself was crapola. The side of fries were pretty good, but the green beans were disgusting and severely overcooked. Her food — she got a bbq chicken sandwich with decent meat, but the bun was soaking wet and disgusting. Luckily she switched to eating with a fork, whereby she found a bone in her food. Not a good thing. The baked potato was massive(6″ long?) and pretty tasty and nicely covered though. Net net, no $ 1.50 Bud Light draft can save this bad BBQ. Pass.

Best BBQ I’ve had around! I love the beans, and the pulled pork. The sauces are excellent. I really liked the jalapeño cheddar bread with my sandwich. Worth the extra 75 cents!

Well wish I could say it was better. The brisket was really fatty and the sausage tasted like it came from the grocery store. A popular place in Hot Springs but not one we will return too.

Oh my!!! Was here about six years ago and couldn’t remember much, but one I started eating, WOW! I had the half chicken, loaded potato salad, and mac n cheese. Every bite of the chicken was juicy and tender, the tater salad was nice, and the mac n cheese was spot on. As good as my lunch was, everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing! I should have had every meal here and tried something different!!!
