This Jewish deli features all the traditional Jewish deli items along with some nice standard American sandwiches, salads and entrees. There’s no denying the food is good as is the service. In fact, I’ve been eating here off and on for years. My only complaint? I think they have jacked up up the prices too much. For example, items that might reasonably be $ 17 or $ 18 are now in the area of $ 22. Despite the prices the place remains popular and is usually busy around meL times. Will I go back there? Yes, but not very often. Lots of off-street parking in this suburban location. And a fine deli and bakery counter.

What’s not to like. Great service and everything from their baked goods to soups are top notch. Prices are at the high end of the scale for what you order… but the food quality justifies it. The only issue I ever have here is deciding what I want… because I want it all. I need to go here more often.

I have been here dozens of times and have two big beefs with Crossroads: the price, and the service. We enjoy the Sunday brunch a lot. The choices are very delicious… the crab cakes, the hashbrown casserole, the sausages, the beef strogganoff, the corned beef hash and the chicken wings. The problem with this place is that almost EVERY single time we go here, the service is horrid. We feel like the servers are inattentive and unfriendly. It is really frustrating. I should not have to walk into a restaurant craving their food and feel neglected by my server, especially given the cost of my meal. I also wish their Sunday brunch offered more salad type offerings. It is painful to pay so much for a meal and feel bad about not wanting to tip. I hate that.

The worst. I gave it 1 star because our waitress was perfect. My grilled pastrami sandwich wasn’t grilled… just some meat thrown between 2 pieces of bread for 12.99. The wine tasted like water and the Moscow Mule tasted like sugar water with no vodka in it. They charge you for splitting an entrée. Will never go back.

Took my bubbie and zayde here after a disastrous bris for new baby cousin. Now first of all, let me tell you. The pastrami on rye was to die for, we almost forgot about baby cousin Mortachai’s foreskin failure. Poor bubbie got a rye seed stuck under her fingernail, oy vey! She just got her fingernails painted over at Cedar nails the day before with Auntie Esther. We asked for a discount because of the rye seed ordeal but the waiter wouldn’t grant it, what a g-d damn schnendrick! Oh well. Still the best pastrami west of Skokie.

I live in the area, so this has been my go-to spot for years when I don’t feel like cooking. The hot italian beef is amazing(and they’re not kidding about it being overstuffed!), the broasted chicken is perfectly cooked every time, and the pastrami is exactly what you’d expect from a deli — moist, fatty, and delicious. But the real star of the show, believe it or not, is the burger. All of my favorite burger places have disappointed me lately. Even the places that have an actual grill somehow manage to cook it without imparting that unique grilled taste. Not crossroads. Their burger is LOADED with flavor. Especially the pastrami burger, because what could be better than the perfect burger topped with the perfect deli meat? Dine in or take out, you won’t be disappointed.

This place is great! I had been here a few years ago, but I was pretty ill so I don’t think my experience should be considered(but please note it was good!). I remember the others super thrilled with the place, so I had to assume it held true. My dad called me out of the blue and said he wanted a grilled cheese because it was National Grilled Cheese day(ok dad…). I went and did a search for places that have grilled cheese and recommended we go here. I remember they had a great matzo ball soup and knew he also was a fan of that as well so he was all for it. We arrived and were sat immediately which was great! The place was busy but not waiting for 30 minutes busy. I don’t really like waiting once I decide on a restaurant. They start you off which this bread basket which has a great assortment of different breads. AND they give you a bowl pickles. Who doesn’t love pickles so this was awesome! My mom ordered the walleye sandwich and a bowl of the matzo ball soup. My dad ordered the Matzo ball soup as well with the grilled cheese and I also ordered the grilled cheese, not soup this time but I did get the fries. My moms fish was HUGE! She almost didn’t need the bun to make it a sandwich. The grilled cheese was fantastic! It was huge as well so I had leftovers which made a whole 2nd meal. After we finished, we browsed the little deli market that they had and was impressed with the assortment. My mom being a sweets fan ended up buying this peanut butter cookie that was dipped in chocolate. It was HUGE! She saved it for home and later said is was great. I would definitely come back.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review about this place yet??? The most recent visit to Crossroads has been for their buffet. I just love walking into this place. The staff is just the best. So friendly and engaging — they really care about your experience and your satisfaction. I almost invited her to sit with us because she treated us just like her family. She was so attentive and kind. While the buffet doesn’t look very big, just wait. In that little space, there are about 30 different options. All sorts different options. You certainly could eat healthy if you want to, but not sure why you would want to! :) There was breakfast options and dinner options as well. Especially with buffets, I find it really important to have the food monitored. There was always constant attention to make sure the food was at proper temp and also fresh. This place is simply a gem. Our party was 10 people and we were very comfortable and satisfied with our experience!

Thanks to my husband’s career we have lived in four regions of the USA and traveled a great deal. Our number one passion these 39 years has been food. We hunt high and low for meals with magnificent flavor obtainable only by trial practice and a rare understanding of melding fine spices. The chef must love what they do, take pride and keep this passion alive. The restaurant business is 8 days a week 25 hours a day. I know, I came close to marrying a successful restaurateur. Burn out is very common. I have no idea how long Crossroads has been in business, but I have been coming over 16 years. They have actually improved. Their sauces their time tested recipes are pure pure heaven. The VERYBEST(!!!) comfort food I have ever found. They use real butter. Real quality cream fresh plentiful onions that steep. Cook slowly stew for hours from scratch. There are no pre– prepared mixes used as a fast base to save time(= $). They use fresh carrots celery. The owners are there EVERY day in the kitchen. By the hostess station. Day after day. Year after year. Long long hours. I don’t know how they have not burned out. Their wives children work there too. Yes two generations This is not a casual dining endeavor. The owners taste everything watch everything. Sit IN the kitchen for hours. Really. I LOVELOVE. To cook. I just moved out of my beloved dream kitchen 2.5 months ago where I had four drawers of spices… I have grown over these long 16 years to deeply respect their extremely hard work and pride and sweat they put into this deli year after year. I LOVE all their dishes. I adore their pastry. Their cooking baking skills are incredible. Their pastrami is better than anything I could buy at Zabars. The lemon coconut cake is the best I have found in any state. The wild rice casserole I eat very very slowly. Savoring each mouthful. Really. And like ALL places if I find something off/not up to what it has always been, I politely speak up. That has happened once in 16 + years. I just went to their Sunday brunch and fell madly for their sirloin steak tips in wine. 3 – 4 helpings ! Oh!!! This is old fashioned slow cooking using top quality ingredients. No skimping. Really. I know. I cook too Enjoy!!!

Best marble rye I’ve ever had. I was surprised and happy to see they make their own halvah, and it’s amazing. Very similar to the halvah I’ve had in Israel. Sunday buffet for $ 17 has a good variety of options and nothing disappointed.

Book club meeting after reading a book about a Jewish girl so what better place than a deli? Nice quite corner on a Monday night was perfect for conversation. Menu not as diverse as most deli’s but plenty of good options. Had a nice spread of condiment appetizers including hummus, capers, olives, sweet peppers with fantastic bread varieties. Hard to choose between the pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, so I went with the CB — excellent choice and large enough to take half home. Coleslaw was an up charge sub for the chips, but bland and tasteless — was expecting better. Service was excellent, friendly and competent. Dessert tray was all cake and after a filling dinner would have preferred something light — wish I knew they had ice cream in the deli case off the lobby but didn’t see it till too late. Overall a very pleasant experience and will look forward to a return visit.

The food is good but you are going to be waiting a very, very long time. I’ve been here three times, twice for lunch and once for breakfast. Über slow service all three times. When I went for breakfast yesterday, there were only 5 other people in the restaurant. The hostess/waitress was a crusty old woman who basically threw the menus on the table and was exceedingly brusque. She warmed up a little when she figured out we didn’t want anything special or troublesome. The food is delicious,(though relatively unseasoned) or maybe its just because I’m so dang hungry by the time it gets to the table. You would think a deli would serve whole pickles, but they give you a little bowl of pickle slices and some icky fluffy generic white bread when you sit down as a free appetizer. The carrot cake is sublime. Beware the bakery, I bought a couple carmel pecan rolls and they were hard as rocks when I bit into one an hour or so later.

I was excited to try this place. Nicely decorated and has a good feel. Ordered the matzo ball soup, billed as the best in the Twin Cities. Was hoping to get an idea about improving mine, but mine is much better as it turns out. Was planning to order dessert, but the service was so poor and slow that I gave up on that. None of the food people nearby ordered looked or smelled particularly good, so there is no incentive to give this place another try. I was disappointed.

Really wanted to like this. LOVE Cecils in St. Paul but Crossroads is right down the road from work. Picked up dinner for the family — 3 sandwiches and a rack of ribs plus some bakery for a hefty price. So disappointed. I can forgive a little fat on the meat — like a little flavor, but the pastrami was so fatty it couldn’t be eaten. The ribs were really dry, almost burnt — except for the fatty parts. Even the cookies were burnt. In my opinion — paying $ 13-$ 15 for a sandwich it better be edible. $ 3 a cookie same thing. Turning my car EAST to St. Paul in the future.

I don’t give many reviews unless I am blown away to the point of wanting to spend time writing something. Let’s just say this is one of the first reviews I’ve written in a couple of years. I walked in here because of a recommendation from a friend(I don’t live in the area, but I’m in town quite a bit for work) and was immediately greeted by a friendly hostess. I just wanted to order a sandwich to go so was directed to the bakery/deli to the left. I had no idea what to order but was given a run down of the menu, and a fantastic recommendation by the nicest guys who worked there. The sandwich was incredible and the pumpkin bar I got to accompany it was something I would absolutely return for. I’ll always write a review for over the top customer service. That’s how you get return customers :) thank you!

What happened here? I haven’t been for a while, maybe as long as 6 months. Crossroads has always been my go to for Corned Beef, especially their Ruben. For years and years it was my favorite. No more. The beef was very fatty & not nearly as flavorful as it was in the past. It was a thin, wrinkly, overlooked thing that if it had been sliced thick would be inedible. It tasted like it had been sitting in water, school lunch corned beef at best. It was so bad, I’m not even willing to give it a second chance. One saving grace — the borscht was still good, but I come here for corned beef. Sorry Crossroads, you lost me.

Food is quite tasty but service is incredibly slow to match the geriatric atmosphere. Tried the broasted chicken — a little greasy but quite good. Also tried a barbecue pot roast sandwich and that was tasty as well. If you’re not short on time, it’s worth giving a try.

We had box lunches catered in for lunch from here. O. M. G. It was by far the best deli salad I’ve ever had. I had a strawberry chicken breast salad. There was a LOT of chicken and strawberries, both of which tasted extremely fresh. The chicken seemed like the it-came-frozen-in-a-bag style, but it was trimmed nicely and wasn’t dry or flavorless. The strawberries were fresh and firm. The vinaigrette tasted house-made(and was very onion-y). I would absolutely drive across town for this salad.

Took our mother there for Sunday brunch but they only do buffet 10 – 2 .got seated right away. Spread was nice with even some lunch foods like beef tips in wine sauce, creamed chicken and wings. but the tab was $ 55 for 3 buffets and 3 coffees. considering none of us eat big enough to really do a buffet justice we thought it was overpriced. The food was tasty enough. I suspect ordering from the menu would be the way to go.

I didn’t think I’d find really good chopped liver in MN. Then my kids took me to the Crossroads Delicatessen. It was delicious. My son had corned beef which was also terrific. The atmosphere is very nice. Spacious layout, relatively quiet. Good service. Nice Chagall prints on every wall. Authentic Jewish Deli food, and challahs are baked fresh every week for Shabbat!

Yes… I have resisted writing this review because this is my number one secret FAVORITE restaurant and bakery … I do NOT want to see it super crowded. But the reviews lately do not give Scot, his brother family and staff true justice for their many many many years trying to make us full and happy. I love their pastry SO much that I have: Mailed it.(lemon cake and all) via overnight express to Dr Marvin Lipman of the Scarsdale Med Center– my 89-year-old mother’s beloved former employer(In NEWYORK) in the 60’s and ’70’s. A very significant Jewish internist who ADORES authentic made-from-scratch Jewish pastry. Today none of those famous old Jewish bakeries exist in the Bronx nor Manhattan — I searched high and low this year. Dr Lipman, now in his 80’s, is caring for my daughter in NYC. We love him very much. My mom used to bake 3 – 4 fresh apple pies a week from scratch, butter, hot for breakfast ! Yes, amazing way to grow up I bring Crossroad’s pastry to my folks in San Diego, to my daughter in NYC, to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Mayo, to my Jewish mother-in –law in Florida! EVERYONE goes crazy and loves their breads(ESP caraway rye), brownies lemon cake key lime pie pecan Danish bran muffin(YUM) . But I am not done.(I will regret doing this … Won’t be able to get in as easily) Their stuffed cabbage is to DIE for… My husband(Jewish) is SUPER addicted. Their wild rice creamed chicken mashed potatoe casserole/hot dish is ABSOLUTE heaven filled with the most exquisite comforting blending of spices top ingredients cream… YUM Everything I adore. I have been coming here ever since we first moved here 15 years ago and we lived in Hopkins, daughters went to Hopkins High School and middle school right across the street I also love love love to cook– Italian Japanese Scandinavian German Spanish Mexican Indian Lebanese(4 drawers of spices and a 12 ft wide center cook/eat island).(I… Make outrageously delicious matzoh ball soup fr scratch…) The only worry I have is that they retire. But I hope the second generation picks up and carries on their tradition of creating rare exquisite perfectly seasoned MAGNIFICENT comfort food!!! Thank you Scot and family

I borderline hate sandwiches. Deli has never been a first choice for a meal to me. However, Jewish Deli? That’s a different story. I’m sorta kinda in love with Jewish food. I would do pretty much anything for a cup of matza balls that I didn’t have to make myself. I have been to Crossroads several times and it has always been with people I work with at lunch. I have never tried dinner or brunch here as it’s out of the way usually for me. First time there, the first thing I saw as I entered the dining room was this hunka meat on a carving table. It was huge with nice golden glow outside and juicy red inside. This guy was slicing it and building a sandwich right there. He spooned a ladle of au jus and a side of fresh grated horseradish on the side. Gulped. One more gulped. That prime rib was totally hitting on me. Hot! Really hot beef. However, once I sat down, I met my Minnesota love, the walleye. Forgot about that hot beef and I went with the walleye sandwich. Walleye sandwich was pretty equal to Ed Harris. It did’t have to do much for me to fall on my knees and take off my lipstick as I sank my teeth into it. This last time though, again! As soon as I walked in, that hot beef was there. It was tugging my shirt and almost saying remember me? I turned to see it and said«Oh yeah, how did I pass you up last time?» I was bored with Mr. Walleye. We had a good run but that day I wanted thick red juicy meat. Mr. Weck his name. Weck Sandwich and it was more than Ed Harris. It was Ed Harris with hair. Yummm! So good. Really good!!! I tried the matza ball the last time and it was alright. This time, I wanted it too but they told me that I had to get a bowl. It just sounded like too much food for lunch so I passed on it. Mr. Weck don’t need no matza balls to make lunch exciting. I also saw some other good looking sandwiches on the table — the Reuben being one of them. The portion here was big. The sandwiches were not puny by any means and they charged a handsome price for it. Almost everything was above $ 10. The service could be a little slow. The last time, we had to wait awhile to just get drinks. However, our server seemed new. The servers here were all older individuals. Our server was probably in her late 40’s but she was the youngest one and she was so damn inexperienced! She missed a lot of things here and there but good thing the other servers were also helping. Oh.I need to mention the pickles and the bread slices they put on the table once you sat down. At first I thought it was odd that the bread were just sliced breads of different kinds. However, they’re actually good. LOL. Anyway, Weck Sandwich. Omgaaa. Ed Harris(with hair) in a bun! Love.

I stopped in last week in early evening to pick up 2 pies and a cake on the Bakery side. I was ready to drop $ 40 or so. So I walked in, there were 3 male employees in the bakery at that time. One guy at the cash register, one guy stocking shelves, one Guy at the back counter. Here I come, excited to buy the goodies, glad there was no other customers. And I wait, and wait, …and wait. No hellos, no May I help you, no greeting whatsoever. The guys were carrying on a conversation, so I politely waited for them. They didn’t stop their conversation, did not acknowledge me in any way. 3 full minutes. I wondered if I was invisible. Without a word, I thought ‘Ok dudes, you blew it, I’m outta here. As I walked out the door, I heard a voice saying ‘ma’am’. Too late Charlie Crossroads.

I am a man of simple pleasures, and one of those simple pleasures is Macaroni and Cheese. I very much enjoyed crossroads’ Tillamook and Cavatappi. It was exceptional. In a non-traditional move I paired it with Matzoh Ball soup, because I miss my bubbe’s soup, having recently moved to Minneapolis from Palm Beach, Fl. Well Crossroads’ soup did not disappoint. It’s worth it, even if they raise the price for those two dishes to $ 40 a piece. What’s that? Too expensive for soup? Ok you may have a point, but it was great soup and fantastic mac n cheese. I’d absolutely go to this restuarant again and plan to throw it in the lunch rotation. Only semi negative, the place gets packed for lunch so service can be slightly slow and food can take a bit of time to come out of the kitchen, but that is to be expected with how many people are there. Décor outdated, but food very much in date.

Pricey for what you get. $ 12.99 for a sandwich with only slaw — no fries, etc. a lot of the beef on weck(only available M-F at lunch) or pastrami, etc are just meat on bread. no sauce, etc so pretty bland. like huh, what am I paying for? if that’s what you like it’s a lot cheaper to just buy the meat about $ 7 at the deli and take it home & get some bread somewhere. Save $ 5 plus the tip. The new pot roast sandwich was really tasty. but you can get them elsewhere for same price and get fries or something other than slaw. Sometimes they ask you if you want the bread and pickles to start, which ISFREE. but sometimes like our first time there they didn’t ask us.

A Co-Worker suggested this deli institution for lunch one day. I had heard about it and wanted to try it out. Got a corned beef sandwich and a small matzo ball soup. Corned beef was seasoned correctly, bread was soft and fresh, and it came with chips. It was not small, but for $ 13 I was expecting more. Probably a good thing it was not. Thought the Matzo ball soup was good, I think it needed a little more seasoning. As I do not eat a lot of Matzo Ball soup not sure if that is the way it is supposed to be or not. For desert I had a PB/chocolate bar(I forget the name, but it was like $ 3?) that was huge, knockout tasty, and probably not a good thing to eat after the sandwich and the soup, as I wanted a nap shortly after. I would like to come back and try again, but I think the pricing is a bit too high for me to make this a regular spot. Friendly service though!
