Whaler’s General Store

Affiliated with Coco Cove, Kimo Bean, and Food Pantry, this older Filipino man was going on, once on a past trip of ours; another one my hubby & I rehearse (complete with accent, well, I am second-​generation). Come to think of it, there are more of these stores in Maui than there are here, not counting the other ones in the store family.
It’s good to have options as you compare prices on the same things at the ABC store (mainly tropical pancake mix, a photo album, other little trinkets). Never buy the first time you see it, because you never know, might be cheaper here. We always check many of the stores before making our purchase. It just so happened that one year, this store beat out the ABC stores because the pancake mix was $ 2.19 (it’s funny that the prices in these ABC stores vary from location to location).

It’s kind of like an ABC store, but more pricey. Out of convenience, it is located right behind the bus stop; next to Makitty. I go there and get something only if I am too lazy to cross the street to go to the (cheaper) ABC store. The cashier is nice and aside from the homeless people sleeping outside, near the bus stop, it’s fairly nice. I don’t know what else to say to describe this place, but if I do, that’s another review to Unilocal about. So until then, salud… or in Unilocal terms… Unilocal POWER!
