So I will be the first to admit that I love these Dim Sum Run UYEs because there is the option of completely opting out of the run portion! I’m big and pregnant so there is no way you’re going to see me sweating it out at Ala Moana Beach Park. But I would like to say in all fairness that I did send my Unilocal representative in the form of my BF and that’s almost better than me coming in person. He actually runs and enjoys the workout. Whereas I’d probably be complaining the entire time about how hungry I am. Now to the part I am excited about, the food! We had about 18 Unilocalers show up for the dim sum portion and a fair amount of us were non-runners which made me feel a lot less lazy. For the second installation of the Dim Sum Run Olivia had chosen Royal Garden at the Ala Moana Hotel. They sat us on two separate round tables and the ordering free for all began! The great thing about doing dim sum is that you can try a bunch of different dishes without the commitment of a huge dish. Will C was able to come to dim sum and I was stoked because he actually speaks Chinese! I’m not sure which dialect but it got the waitress to pay attention to us which was really great! He ordered a shrimp dish wrapped in nori and deep fried which was completely amazing. There’s no way I would have ordered this on my own so I was really stoked! The upside of eating dim sum at 10 am is that the restaurant was completely empty but the downside was that there were only two carts going. I think eating at 11 am would have been ideal because they had a lot more carts out at that time. I was bummed because I was already full by the time I saw the peking duck! Aw man!!! Great company, decent dim sum, borderline rude service but it is dim sum so I wasn’t expecting sunshine and smiles. Can’t wait for the next UYE and hopefully Olivia will be able to make it because it just isn’t the same without her!!!

Finally made it! Thanks again to Olivia D. for putting together a kick ass event, though she herself couldn’t make it. i too opted out of running, though i think i have the logistics down now, and might actually run next time. I’m not lazy! I swear, just had to work! And while the event itself was great, the venue left a LOT to be desired. I have always had a great time at RG, but there seemed to be some magic missing this time. Food was different, servers were the walking dead. But all in all had great laughs at some Unilocalers expense, got to practice some mandarin skills and got to meet some new people along the way. quote of the meal: «i used to be a ho» good times see ya next run!
