Times is my go to supermarket and I think this location is probably the best one. You don’t need a «loyalty» card to get a deal at Times and they seem to usually have lower prices than the competition. They also carry stuff that’s hard to find in other stores, like lamb or okra. And St. Germains is a big plus. The only reason I don’t give them a better rating is because of the Deli section. I think these folks must work for a different company — they do have different uniforms — or maybe their work environment is really bad, but these folks are SURLY. It’s not a hit or miss thing either. It’s every time I have had the need to deal with them to get some sliced meat, sliced cheese or other deli items over the past five years. They excel at ignoring customers. And they have finally trained me that if anything close to a deli item is on my list, I should just go to different store and do all my purchasing there.

From running in to familiar faces I haven’t seen in a while, to clashing with the incompetent traffic director who thinks he’s in the Gestapo around the holidays, this market holds a lot of memories for me. I’ve seen the place undergo many renovations and have had my shopping routine thrown off countless times by unforeseen rearrangements of the store over the years. The place always seems to be changing, but something about it still gives off a comfortable nostalgic vibe. The produce here is generally more fresh than other markets like Don Quijote, but the price also reflects that. I like the hot food counter here as well as the bread from the bakery. The sushi guy Shige-san, is also really friendly, so friendly that sometimes we ended up buying sushi we didn’t want just because of his kind personality.

May be I got so used to the gentrification of things, I find this store with only respect to sight, boring. It was our first stop for a spam musubi, our first one ever. We we’re sort of tentative and unsettled eating the Hawaiian delicacy at a supermarket and our objection was right. The rice was beyond cooked, past the point of solid state.

I love Times and we go there all the time. It’s a great store and we have always supported it, mainly because it’s a local store. I’m not very happy right now, however, that I was charged double for my groceries. Not only were there not any type of announcement in regards to it(Because the overcharge was made to 200+ customers according to them.), I’m still waiting to get my money back, and I have been waiting for almost two weeks. I was falsely charged nearly $ 300, and no one is calling me back after I contacted them. Even when I went to the store in person to talk to the manager, there were no explanation as to what took place, what’s going on, when I would get my money back, until I asked all those questions. In the end I called the corporate office and they said, «I’m sorry for the inconvenience.» I’m very upset because they’re not taking care of their customers. This is a very frustrating situation, and I’d really like my money back now.

Not as fresh and inviting as sample-galore whole foods, but certainly easier on the pocket book. Unlike Safeway and foodland, I like that I don’t have to carry around a card to have the sale prices applied at checkout. Times poke is excellent at this Kahala location. Ask Robin in the fish department what today’s recommendation is.

This review is for their pharmacy dept. At first I wasn’t aware that Times Kahala had a pharmacy since it wasn’t posted with their logo outside their store. Time is money for me so shaving minutes off my personal errands is crucial! My doctor even suggested Times Kahala pharmacy because his office staff doesn’t have to be put on hold for 30+minutes like they do when calling in prescriptions at Longs/CVS. Times Kahala pharmacy dept lines are always very short and the service is friendly(Brittany helped me). Perfect combo when you’re not feeling well!

Times Kehala is my favorite supermarket on the island. Not a large store but a great selection. There pharmacy is top notch and they will get to know you by name. Usually no wait at the pharmacy as in other drugstores makes the experience much more tolerable especially when you’re not feeling well. Fridays are guava rib day and are always busy at the deli counter. Very rarely do I not find what I’m looking for. Staff employees and management are always willing and there to help you get what you need

Time is known as a local grocery store in the islands. After they renovated couple years back they upgraded their deli also their seafood department with a upgraded plate lunch and sandwich area with adding a sushi department right next to it. Times always took care of the needs of its residents with weekly sales and friendly service.

I love how they have revamped this location. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and now that they renovated, it’s much better organized. Its pretty clean, prices are decent though sometimes the produce isn’t the best. They have a saint germain section with fresh bread and pastries. They also opened up the back with a poke station and sandwich station as well! Pretty busy at times, though not too bad for the most part. Parking isn’t usually a problem and its convenient to head over to the gas station after to fill up. Most Sundays there’s a fundraiser car wash going on as well.

This review is for the prepared food deli at Times. They always have a nice selection of prepared bento foods as well as hot food items. My Dad’s favorite is the Miso Butterfish Bento. He’s always sure to remind me(you know how seniors repeat themselves) that they have a lot of nishime in the bento, and if you don’t see one on the shelf already made, you can ask at the counter and they will make it for you. It will take about 20 minutes, but they will do it. My favorite is the chicken wings. There are usually several types: regular, buffalo, sweet chile and spicy. The wings are hot, tender, and quite meaty. The servers there are also really nice. One day they ran out of the regular ones, so the server told me she was adding in a few extra of the sweet chile variety since they ran out of what I wanted. Some wings that you get need sauce because they’re dry. Not the Times wings. They’re really good! This is not a sit-down and eat your wings«in» kind of place, but if you need some wings and don’t mind sitting in your car, or taking them home or to a party to eat, check out Times. Prices are far more reasonable than many restaurants, which seem to charge about $ 1 per wing. I’ll typically get an order of wedge fries to go with my wings because they are so good looking. And almost everytime I order them, I watch as they load them into the container and thing«Ho, that’s a lotta wedges!». They’re a great side to the wings, since your fingers are dirty already!

Great local supermarket chain with complete selection of everything we would want from a grocery store, from quality produce to favorite deli items. Be sure to pick up some unique gifts for your friends on the Mainland here. Sometimes the most basic things can become the most treasured. Garlic SPAM, anyone? How about those cool little thermo zipper bags with quilted Hawaiian prints? The location is tricky because of the H-1 interchange, so look at the map beforehand to get there and back without a lot of meandering.

12 people in line and the manager John refuses to open another register saying that they close in 3 min. It’s 10:55pm, 5 min. actually. … It doesn’t matter. No apology, nothing. Where’s the customer service!?

This is more like a huge convenience store than a supermarket for me. I’m usually there to pick up a loaf of bread, a gallon of milk, some eggs, chips, fruits, veggies and sandwich ingredients for home lunch. Their produce quality is top notch and runs out quickly, so get there on Wednesdays when they start their specials. The grapes last week were soooooo good! The LOCATION is perfect for my neighborhood. What makes it even better is that there’s a gas station and dry cleaners right next to it. Across the way there’s a Zippy’s so I can pick up dinner if I’m too tired to cook after grocery shopping! No matter how crowded it is, there’s always parking. The cashiers and clerks are so fast and efficient I never have to wait long to check out. Even though they’ve changed ownership and management, Times still has a nice local feel with familiar and friendly faces.

When I lived int he area, this was my go-to grocery store. It was an easy walk from my house and I love their poke selection! Lunch time gets a bit busy so be careful the parking lot gets very crowded fast but if you get in a little earlier in the morning try their breakfast, bacon, eggs, and fried rice all for under $ 3 bucks! Their lunch plates are awesome, generous portions along with delicious potato wedges. When I’m in a hurry, I’ll grab a bento which never disappoints me. I always get long rice noodles to supplement my lunch. Recently, I found out they have Illy coffee, medium cup for $ 1.89! Can you beat that price for authentic italian expresso?

How does one review a chain supermarket location? Nothing stands out about this location. I will not fondly remember my time here and will not go out of my way to shop here. LOCATION: I would give that a 4 star. I was in the area, though, and in need of some cookie supplies. It is nice that there is a cheaper alternative to whole foods in the area. LAYOUT: I would give this a 3 star. The entry is hidden behind a large portion of the building. You can’t see it from the street. I always feel like Times markets are built in any little space they can find. The store is confusing to locate anything without doing a full round around the store. VARIETY: I was disappointed with the variety of baked goods here. Being near christmastime, I would believe the supermarkets would stock up on baking supplies. I was looking for white or metallic sprinkles. They only had birthday color sprinkles. Although they probably have the best meat/fish department, they lack in most other areas. Overall I would round this to a three store. I feel like I had much better service at other locations that would raise its stock. However, supermarkets are all pretty much the same. This would not stop me from coming here again.

Original post 11÷12÷13 — Times(Kahala) is now killing a bit of the business for Whole Foods a block away. Their recent renovation is awesome. Great local foods and fresher local fish and produce for half the price. Beautiful sashimi grade local ahi from the fish counter for $ 8.49 today !! And their plate lunches are incredible. Maybe a mistake(selfish) to get the word out, but I just love this store. Also, they have Shiggy, a real Japanese guy making(great) sushi right next to the plate lunch bar. Not at all the same as the run down Times Store on lower Waialae in Kaimuki, this one is the real deal ! PS– Don’t send this to the folks that make the tour books for Japanese visitors to Oahu; please let them have their fun taking pictures of the overpriced(and less fresh) stuff at Whole Foods… Update 11/16/2013 — Just ordered their Hawaiian plate lunch combo(Lau Lau, kalua pig, long rice, Okinawa potato, brown rice, lomi lomi, and haupia dessert). Huge portions(two normal person’s size), delicious, and a great deal(just over $ 10). No need to go to Helena’s or Ono(and deal w/parking and higher prices) when these guys are just down the street(except they only serve this on Saturdays)

Woohoooo! As good as it gets baby!!! ;D So I haven’t been to this location for a while. I only visit my family in the summers now so today was the first time I been here since they renovated. It was 11:30, lunch time, and I was just done getting a pedicure, something I rarely do but mom says I needed one. So we start driving back towards home, and I thought she was going to Kahala Mall at first but she turned in to Times Supermarket. I asked mom what are we here for. She says, plate lunch. Plate lunch? What do you mean mom?(Maybe she meant a bento?) Last time I checked, they did not sell plate lunches here. So I go in and follow her and Wow! They DO sell lunches! It ranges from $ 7 – 8, you choose your entrée and three sides, white/brown rice, mashed potatoes, mac/toss salad, steamed veggies, and you get a free drink. ;D I got the hamburger steak plate and me and mom cleaned it up! Other choices were tri-tip steak, guava spare ribs, or chicken. I wanna try the spare ribs next! The store also sells a bunch of different bentos, mochi(my fave), sushi(freshly made), and there is also a bakery that sells breads, cakes and pastries. YUM! I purchased a custard pudding which I like because I can’t find anywhere in the mainland that make custard the way they make it here. I’m not saying the custard is better here, the texture is just different, and once in a while I’d like to have custard the way they make it here. I love the custard pies in Hawaii. It’s not anything special but no place else makes it. :\ I’ll be back most definitely for the quava spare ribs! :)

Times Kahala got fancy! They recently finished their renovations. This Times now has a deli section, cheese case, and a hot food counter. I have enjoyed several different items from the deli counter and hot food section. I got to try their tegu salad and namasu. Both were very good and made great sides for my dinner. The hot food selections changes everyday. Last Tuesday I had their hot turkey plate, came with 3 sides and a drink. Came out to $ 8. Pretty good deal as I still had some left over for my lunch the next day. Will be going back to pick up food here for those lazy nights when I don’t want to cook dinner. Another plus is that they were still able to keep St. Germain’s bakery despite all the new additions.
