PROS: So surprised to find a place to get food, clothing, small appliances, furniture, makeup, lightbulbs, and many other items on the cheap! CONS: Parking. Store is right next to a busy laundrymat.

I must say this place is a thrift shop for can goods and household items! Eggs for 1.50 and freezer items are a steal. Dont expect grocery store selection but there are brands you recognize. For all you people jus like me that needs your money to go far this place is awesome to stop at 1st before you do your grocery shopping. They also have small appliances and household cleaners that are a deal and brand new. Google map it and you won’t be let down :)

STOPREADING!!! if 1) You hate sorting through old looking, slightly damage goods 2) Close to expiration goods 3) Little to… No Parking This place specializes in freight damage and closeout merchandise so don’t expect the really fancy smanshy stuff you pay retail for but if you’re like me and live on a pay check to pay check basis and you LOVE stretching that dollar… LOOKNOFURTHER! Freight Merchant on School Street has been here for decades. I remember driving pass this place all the time headed to Kamehameha Shopping Center but never stopped until I went with my sister in law. They literally have all of your household needs from canned and bottle food items for your pantry, cleaning products, refrigerated food, TV’s blu ray DVD player, vacuums and I even seen a pressure washer once. They carry name brand products for cheap but I strongly advise you ask lots of questions before purchase and to check the expiration dates on all food items before you buy. Most of the times I bought here the expiration date was about 2 – 9 months before expiration but I had no problem with that. The service is OK and my questions were answered with rushed answers but I kept asking and hounding like I always do. The store is small but has lots and lots of stuff, at times the aisles are cluttered and they have overstocked shelves BUT if you have the patients and really look, you’ll find hidden treasures like an Oster Blender for dirt cheap or buckets of New Zealand corned beef which I saw a lady purchase 3 for $ 20(What a deal!).

Great place to beat the high cost of living in Hawaii! Frozen foods and scratch & dent items for pennies on the dollar. Not just food items either, but big screen tv’s and household items that they happen across. Just go often and they will always have different stuff. The food may be on or a little after the expiration date, and some of the containers may be torn and dented, but it is still good stuff. Theres a black lady there who comes across as really mean, but once you get to know her she’s got a heart of gold. The owners are really nice, too. When I was in Hawaii, we made weekly trips there and stocked our freezer. When we go back to live, we will return to the Freight Merchant, too.
