Service was lousy. The entertainment kept me from walking out of the place. Go at lunch, it’s a much better experience than dinner.

Still a five star worthy establishment despite steep(but he going rate) prices for drinks. The atmosphere along the shore under the huge banyan tree can’t be beat. I got the Hawaiian Sun(sweet and tropical). My brother enjoyed his drink that had cucumber and ginger(he mentioned it a couple times after so it must be really good). Appetizers — edamame(the salt used to season them was addicting) and poke nachos(fresh, hearty). The live music was excellent that night(a duo playing/singing favorite Hawaiian tunes and a dancer).

I was a little disappointed because I wanted to goto Brunch at the Beach House, which I found out is only on Sunday’s! Thought heck were here let’s goto the Beach Bar and enjoy the beautiful view! The atmosphere was beautiful and the wait staff was pleasant, and that’s where it all went south… the musician was dreadful, unlike when John Valentine plays. The food overall was very disappointing. Fish and Chips were over cooked and flavorless. The Steak pupu’s first bite was good but it was so drown in sauce that it took away the flavor of the steak. I couldn’t eat more than two bites. I will go back to the Beach House for Brunch or Tea but will refrain from doing anything but drinking at the Beach Bar!

Stunning sunset views since you’re right on the beach, well made drinks, and great service. Warning that while the drinks are tasty, they are priced between $ 12 – 14 because of the views you get. Stay away from any blended drinks as they are sugar and have very little alcohol. Go for the drinks from their«handcrafted» menu. Highly recommend their mango thyme drink.

Stopped in for a drink. Ordered a Cosmo which was good! Also got an order of French fries, nothing special for $ 7 and the orange sauce tasted like seaweed. Tends to be an older crowd that was there vs dukes next door. Service was good but overall, nothing to write home about.

Gotta go with 2 stars just due to the mediocrity of the food. The entrée was ok(Mahi Mahi) but it was served with either a bag of chips or some stale nachos with store bought salsa. The ambiance would suggest a nicer meal selection. The prices are ehhh. Could be worse. Anyhow. Best thing about this place is the view of the sunset, which was epic. Probably won’t come back.

A favourite place for drinks and food! Sit under the beautiful banyan tree enjoying a drink, maybe some of the yummy food, las you are serenaded afternoon or evening with live music. Beautiful location. Sit in Margaret’s section for excellent, friendly and quick service. She knows how to take care of you and is always lovely with a ready smile and friendly word or two. I really appreciate that extra service and friendliness!

You are really paying for the ambiance, so keep that in mind when the drinks cost in upwards of $ 10 each and absolutely no flavor or alcohol whatsoever. The desserts are also very pricey and ho-hum. Best time to «drink» the«drinks»(better off with a soda — has more flavor) is during sunset, when you can listen to the band and watch people stroll by on the beach. Seating can be crowded and limited at this time. There were a few cordoned-off chairs and tables that were broken. If you go to the bathroom by the pool, watch out because the floor is wet from the pool-goers and you may end up flat on your butt, courtesy of wet floor, not from the bar drinks. ha ha.

My second favorite hotel bar in Waikiki(just narrowly behind Wai’olu Ocean View Lounge at Trump International). The view is awesome and sitting under the 100+ year old Banyan tree, it just makes it seem like time is standing still. It’s a rare thing to find in an area as bustling as Waikiki Beach. Their signature cocktail list is refreshing, and isn’t loaded up with a bunch of sugary drinks; a welcomed change from most of the establishments in the proximity. I was there at night, just after sunset and they had some great live music going to boot. All in all, a great spot to have a drink and relax.

Always a pleasure the first Mai Thai at this place when I land Not as nice as the Royal Hawaiian but can’t complain. Food is much better than you think it will be its good. Servers are a little uninspired but I am sure they work hard all day

Nice up scale bar overlooking the ocean(not exactly on the beach). Great view of Diamond head. Had drinks and apps.

The Moana is a nice hotel. Well kept and low key. The service is good. I’m big on service too. I only came here for drinks with friends. We went to the beach bar and the people there are so friendly. I met one of the bartenders there, Craig Nakasato, and he is just the nicest person ever. I’m a local but he still gave me great service the way he would for a tourist that spends big money. I would come back to the Moana again, especially to go to the beach bar!

Just stayed there for a couple of drinks. The drinks were a little pricy, but of good quality. It’s a nice place against the beach, with some nice local live music. This was the first place I went to after landing in Honolulu, and I wasn’t disappointed. A great start to my vacation

Mahalo.

The Beach Bar offers a gorgeous view of Waikiki Beach and its beautiful, light blue ocean. This is a celebratory place where you grab cocktails on your first day in Honolulu and just sit back, thinking, «I am here.» When I was here, I felt a sense of serenity wash over me as I watched the ocean, sipped on my drink, and listened to renditions of popular pop songs played on a ukelele. While on the pricier side($ 12−15/cocktails), I feel as if it’s justified with the great view, nice and relaxing ambiance, and delicious cocktails. They make my favorite lava flow here. Each cocktail comes garnished with a slice of sweet pineapple from the Dole Plantation. Friendly and easygoing bartenders and smiles all around make this place a five stars-worthy bar for me.

Great music, great beach front view & plenty of shade from the banyan tree… oh yeah, great Mai Tai! Cool off here after some beach time.

Taking a break from the sunshine, my husband and I found a shaded table just feet from the sandy beach where we’d spent our morning. A friendly waitress greeted us with menus, but it was still a little too early for lunch so we decided simply on a hearty brunch beverage — the house Bloody Mary.($ 12 ea) I ordered my drink spicy with salt on the rim and Casey ordered his mild and without the rim job. Tiffany was the server and she didn’t realize that the premade mix was already a little bit on the spicy side, so my drink arrived perfect for my liking, but the«mild» drink needed a little tomato juice added to it to tone it down. Service was terrific though and our drinks didn’t take long to finish. The beautiful view here on the cool patio under the banyan trees is really what makes this such a wonderful place to stop and take a break. If youre nearby, whether or not you intend to order a drink or food, make sure to walk up and sit down in the shade.

We stopped by for 1 cocktail to start our mini vacay. I really don’t like drinking in hotel bars because they’re so overpriced, but what the hey… ATMOSPHERE: They’re located beach front in the Westin Moana Surfrider Hotel. A big banyan tree provides most of the shade to the umbrella-protected tables, and the big bar in the center. The music is piped-in local and Hawaiian selections which fits the views perfect. Very touristy naturally, but it’s nice to play tourist sometimes too. MENU: Tropical mixed drinks, wine, beer, apps, salads, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, sliders, desserts. BEVERAGE: Heineken — $ 7. Ouch. I did pay the same price for a Bud at a TGI Friday’s in NYC with no ocean view, so I must’ve made out! SERVICE: Tiffany was our comedic server. Very nice personality. OVERALL: Chill ambiance, great music and service.

We stopped by one night for some sunset drinks and apps. We walked through the hotel(absolutely beautiful) to the bar straight out back. Tables were pretty full, but we were lucky enough to snag a table right at the wall to the beach — talk about a perfect start to our vacation. The server stopped by quickly and took our drink orders and we started with a basket fries. I’m not sure if the Hawaiian gods put some magic into the fries or what, but they were hands down the best fries I’ve ever eaten EVER. Afterwards, we split the grilled mango barbecue chicken and asparagus for dinner. Also amazing. As far as drinks go, we tried the Mai Tai, Blue Hawaiian, and Piña Colada. All great, but rather expensive(12.50 a piece). Overall, an amazing spot to end our evening with great food and drinks!

Perfection(minus one star for their outrageous«paradise tax»!) This is the nicest bar in Waikiki. It has the perfect view of the beach, Diamond Head, and the surrounding hotels. It’s right in the middle of the Moana Surfrider Hotel, one of the oldest on the island, and shaded underneath one of the oldest and most gorgeous banyan trees you’ll ever see. It’s open seating; just grab a table when one opens up(it may be hard to find one). As I’ve stated– prices are super high for what you get. However, drinks and food are delicious. It’s one of the few places with mojitos, but I’ve ended up having champagne more often. I don’t like the use of plastic instead of glass, but I understand protecting against cut feet from all the pool and beach goers constantly walking through. They always have live music and often hula dancers. The wait staff will always see you and usually are efficient to bringing drinkings. Wonderful place to escape the heat of the sand and enjoy the island breezes.

I was staying across the street at the more budget-friendly Sheraton and came over here for dinner right before sunset. I was luckily to get a table, as it was pretty crowded at sunset. Once the sun set many more tables opened up. They had a nice Hawaiian band complete with hula dancer. This is a great option if you are looking for some island ambiance but want to avoid the crowds of places like Dukes. Service was okay, it definitely could have been more attentive but I wouldn’t call it bad. My server answered my questions and gave recommendations but wasn’t very friendly. As long as the service was decent, which it was, I was able to deal because the view was awesome and the food tasty. I started out with one of the Mai Tais, which was good and strong. For dinner I had the Hawaiian Poke Wrap. All of the food was more bar food but was perfect for what I was looking for. For dessert I had the Coconut and Mango Panna Cotta. It was pretty good, I’ve definitely had better but also had worse. The view, the vibe and the music would make me come back here. The service and the food were good enough to support coming back for the experience.
