Its not a bad burrito, but its not great. Id still rather have a chipotle. I liked the sauce bar.

Updating my review. I haven’t been here in awhile but every time I have tried to go, they are either closing up or are closed already. Came on a Sunday evening a little past 7 and realized they were closed at 7. The guy wasn’t nice or friendly. Came another day on a weekday. It was only about 7:15. It was empty but the place looked open. The guy sees me and then while I’m deciding what to order, he finally tells me they are closed. He was not very welcoming either. In fact, I felt like he was rude and I felt like I never wanted to step foot in there again. I went to make sure what the hours were and they are supposed to be open till 8?! Seriously never give 1 star reviews but they really need to do something about their customer service. Not sure how the food is anymore since I never get a chance to eat here! I walked on over to Pioneer Salon instead. Yes that place gets crowded but at least they are friendly and the food is good!

I ordered garlic shrimp tacos, which were very tasty. Seemed pricey, but they piled shrimp on, and I was full with just one. Food is very fresh. I would come back :) I just wish ordering One taco was an option.

I used to love this place. But, my husband refuses to go to the Waikiki location because he saw one of the workers digging with his bare hands in the trash, for scraps to feed the birds, only to return to handling food without washing his hands. My husband Pulled a coworker aside to politely let her know, she responded with«ugh he’s doing that again?». Tonight I convinced him to go to the Diamond Head location… Only to just be told the grill is turned off at(6:30) and could only make us tacos made of toppings‽ When I asked why they shut the grill off two hours early they suggested we go to the Waikiki location if we wanted fish or grilled veggies. Really‽ is this actually how you run your business. Such a disappointment, we tried to overlook the health risks only to receive poor customer service. You just lost a loyal customer.

I’m a sucker for taco salads and this one was awesome. Great portions and a good selection at the hot sauce bar, try the habanero one for a friendly kick. There are a bunch of proteins to choose from including ahi and kalbi(Korean short ribs). They have breakfast burritos too, swoon. My only complaint is there was only one person working so it took a long time to get all the orders made and paid for. Kudos to that guy though!

This is a tiny and charming place to grab tacos or burritos when you’re not in a rush. The vibe of this area is very chill, with neat clothing shops and smoothie cafes nearby. I was happy to learn they use cod in their fish burritos(classy), which my friend offered to share with me so that we wouldn’t appear obese at the beach. We both loved the burritos and looked fat in a manner of minutes! Luckily we only ate halves. The portions here are great(huge chipotle burritos for ~9). The tacos here look semi-authentic and tasty. The vegetables were very fresh and(like chipotle) they offer black beans(yes!). They also have chopped cilantro and other garnishments that make for killer anglomexican. When my fish was initially cooked, I(a frequent cooker of fish) knew it was probably burnt and whispered to my friend that the cashier was still cooking our damn cod(four customers after us!). I calmed myself down and hoped the stove was on low. It was not. And our cod was black(on one side). She recooked it(after almost throwing away the delicious remainder of the burrito we had slaved over with our subway-style architectural instructions). I then watched in horror as a burnt piece of cod was thrown away like a lost child. I will likely have fried rice or gaint pancakes at the place on the corner of this shopping center next time I’m around, but(in a weak moment) I might return for some fish tacos(with a timer).

I was stranded on this island at 1AM with an addiction for Mexican food, I thought I lost hope until found this place to be open and had to try it! There was no wait so the service was speedy, they seem to have pretty fresh ingredients and the staff was knowledgable about their food as well. I ordered the vegetarian tacos, I was also reminded by the staff their refried beans have chorizo fat so I knew to get whole beans instead. I really enjoyed my meal here, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a fix, this place is awesome!

I’ve been in the mood for some fish tacos ever since my Maui trip last month. While surfing the Unilocal site for Mexican food & taco’s, I came across two good reviews from my Unilocal buddies — Trish N. & Coreen L., and a very FUNNY review from my Unilocal buddy — Lori I. at Surf N Turf Tacos in the Kapahulu area. Upon lunch time, I told my coworker — «Let’s head down to a new place to have lunch», and Surf N Turf Tacos it was! Upon walking into the little shop, I headed straight to the ordering counter & ordered myself(2) Beer Battered Fish Tacos(thanks Lori I. — for the tip on not over ordering)! My coworker ordered the same item too. What can I say about the delicious beer battered fish tacos? 1. They use HUGE chunks of cod fish, and they make the fish«fresh», as they make it only when you place your order of food. 2. The clerk was very friendly & answered all my questions about the fish tacos. 3. I’m glad I only ordered(2) fish tacos… and I followed my Unilocal buddy — Lori I.‘s advice, because knowing me… I would have probably ordered(4) fish tacos! 4. Not only did the fish tacos come out hot & fresh, but the tacos were simply delicious!!! 5. When they were making my fish tacos, the clerk asked me «what I wanted on top my tacos»…so I basically told him…“Dude, I want it all!” And pile it on high baby!!! 6. The fish tacos were cheap, just $ 9.49 for(2) fish tacos. 7. I had a coupon for a «free taco» out of the entertainment book which I purchased from my coworker’s son for fundraising. Who doesn’t like free food? 8. Parking in the small strip mall SUCKS! But I guess the parking gods were looking out for me, because as soon as I pulled into the parking lot, someone else was leaving, therefore I got a parking space real easy today. 9. They had a coke fountain at the restaurant… so if you like soda, guzzle all the soda you like my friend! 10. This small little restaurant only has 6 small tables, but we were lucky enough to get a table to sit down and eat today… What an enjoyable lunch… not too heavy, and very satisfying! In da mood for fish tacos? May I suggest you check out — Surf N Turf Tacos! They have two locations… one in the heart of Waikiki, and the other in the Kapahulu area(not too far from the zoo/Kapiolani park area).

I came to eat here in 3 times November and loved it! I was so amazed that the salsas were spicy and authentic tasting. The fish tacos were amazing. I told the person working at the time how impressed I was and that I was Mexican so I know good salsa & tacos. He said that the cook was Mexican. I could tell. This is now the second time I came since April and noticed the salsa was not good at all and food was barely ok. Today the salsa that is usually sitting on ice, was all melted and one of the salsas looked like it was foamy at the top. I know what that means… No good. I have noticed a sign advertising a new location and realizing what usually happens when restaurants expand and lose the quality of food or service. I really hope the bring back the quality of the food! I had the fish tacos and asada tacos this second time around and they were just ok(without good salsa they just don’t hit the spot). Service was ok. There was a young guy who helped me and he was very friendly to me and the other people who he helped. The pretty girl on the other hand looked like she didn’t want to be there and spoke in an uninterested monotone voice. :( I would love to give this place another chance if it improves again. As with most Mexican food places, if the salsa sucks you can’t expect better from the food quality. It’s a pretty good indicator of how good the food will be. Maybe I’ll just taste the salsa before I commit to buying food next time I come in.

I should have listened to the other Unilocalers. Shame on me. My mistake. After a busy morning and long, long walk, my friend and I were in dire need of some food. We walked around the area and saw Bogart’s, Diamond Head Health Bar, some sushi place, and Surf N Turf Tacos. Since Bogart’s and Diamond Head Health Bar were both too crowded and my friend didn’t really want sushi, we ended up at Surf N Turf. It wasn’t crowded at all!(Maybe we should have taken that as a hint too.) There was only one worker who was rather monotone and didn’t seem very energetic. She moved slowly and seemed uninterested in her job. Maybe it was just a bad day for her :( To the staff worker: Cheer up! Smile! Laugh! Eat ice cream! :) First off, I’m almost always down for«Mexican». I put that in quotes since I know our Mexican food here is nothing compared to the mainland. I can probably go for an enchilada, taco salad, burrito, etc every weekend and not get sick of it. I had a hard time deciding between Nachos and a burrito, but opted for the Nachos in case my friend wanted to have some too. In any case, I usually order Nachos or Taco Salads anyway. The toppings: I had carnitas(pulled pork), salsa, cheese, refried beans, and guacamole You have a choice of refried beans or black beans. I like black beans but when I saw their black beans… I’m not even sure what that was! I’m used to seeing whole beans but this was mashed up!(It kinda reminded me of that Filipino dish that’s some kind of blood meat.) The refried beans weren’t any better looking and actually made me think of a cafeteria lady putting a glob of grossness on my food(like you see in TV). Well, you can’t really be fancy with cheese so whatever. Though it looked like Kraft Mexican shredded cheese. Chips didn’t look homemade…(hey, it might be). But it kinda looked like one from a grocery store. The salsa was actually pretty good! :) I’ll give them that! The disappointing factor other than the ingredients seemed like store-bought was that at the bottom of my meal, all the chips were incredibly soggy. Now, you’re probably thinking… well, duh. But there’s a difference when your chip is soft and when your chip turns to mush because of the oil that has collected at the bottom of the basket from the carnitas. That’s a no no. And, all of that for $ 12.03(they charge $ 1 extra for guacamole). On the bright side, at least my meal was edible! My friend ordered the quesadillas and ended up throwing away half of it. It looked like something I could make at home(and I’m not a very good cook either). I’m really sad to leave a negative review. Of course everyone wants 5 stars, but this meal was really disappointing. I think I’d honestly rather have a Taco Bell Taco Salad for that price! :(I had a little higher expectations especially since it’s located on Monsarrat! Rent must not be cheap! Well, take it or leave it but I hope you consider reading other Unilocal reviews before ordering. Obviously I chose to ignore them and then had to deal with the consequences. P. S. I read in another review that it was Cash only but when I went, they accepted credit card. Just FYI. Perhaps they changed it recently?

When I first pulled this page up to check-in, I couldn’t believe they weren’t 5 stars. This small Mexican restaurant(more of a take out location) is in the small mall near Kapiolani Park. The mall is tough because it doesn’t have many parking spots and they go fast during peak hours. There is street parking along the side streets if you aren’t able to find a spot in the lot. The restaurant, if you can call it that has about 4 tables. There doesn’t appear to be a restroom, not sure if they will let you go in the back or not. The design of the restaurant is also similar to a Chipotle. You walk in and order your food in a assembly line fashion. I have been here twice now. Both times I ordered the same thing because it was so good! I had the Chicken Quesadilla along with rice, beans and chips. The chicken is beyond good. I am not sure what they are seasoning this with but WOW. It has to be the best quesadilla I have ever eaten. This isn’t my first rodeo either. I love Mexican and try to eat it as much as possible. The rice and refried beans were also great! They tasted fresh and like they were made that morning. The chips were light and fresh. I particularly liked these because they went great with the guacamole. The food was definitely 5 out of 5. The ambiance of the restaurant is laid back casual. They have a TV and play surf movies on it. I love this because well first off I surf, but second I can stare at this and my food seems to come out quicker. My only knock on Surf N Turf is the service. The employees are great, don’t get me wrong, but the wait can be a little long. The first time we came in here there was only one employee working. Thank god we were first in line before a small rush they got. If that happens it will take a while to see your food. Let me say though it is worth the wait. The food is absolutely delicious. Trust me, if you are in the area make sure to stop by Surf N Turf Tacos for some tasty Mexican food!

Good. Not great. I had the garlic shrimp taco and beer battered fish taco, both on taro tortillas. Both were prepared fresh, which was nice. Half the cabbage and pico fell out as I was eating them. No biggie, just messy. FYI: Cash only. No public restrooms nearby — which pretty much means I can’t go here with my 3yr old

Surf N Turf Tacos is a taco and burrito shop located on the main stretch of Monsarrat Avenue on your way to Diamond Head. It is located in the same strip mall that Bogart’s Café is located in. There is also another Surf N Turf Tacos shop located in Waikiki if you are in that area. The taco and burrito menu is pretty straightforward. They have the usual things like carnitas, chicken and steak, but they also have fish and shrimp tacos. There is even poke tacos and burritos offered here which I haven’t seen anywhere else. I came here on Small Business Saturday. I checked out their Facebook page before hand and it indicated they accept AmEx. However when I got to the shop, AmEx was not listed on their door as one of the payment methods. So I asked the one of the employees before ordering if they took AmEx which she said yes. Thus, I decided to order the poke tacos($ 10.99). A little pricey since they come only two in an order. As I was paying, I handed over my AmEx card to a different employee who said that they DON’T take it. Hence, I ended up paying with a different card. I felt like I had been a victim of a bait and switch. The actual tacos are good. The purple tortillas used in the tacos are made with taro. A nice change from the usual flour or corn tortillas. The poke was tasty and had a little spicy kick to it and the portion was decent. I liked the tacos, but they are overpriced. If I wanted poke, I could have just bought a half pound of it somewhere else and cooked up some white rice for a satisfying meal. The poke tacos here are decent, albeit the prices are on the high side. Just chalk it up to the cost of living in paradise. And remember if you do decide to check this place out that they DON’T take AmEx.

Food is okay, nothing to write home about. But the service is absolutely horrible. I have been there five or six times and it’s almost as if they don’t want to serve the customers. I agree with another reviewer their sign should be change from closing at eight closing at 7:45. their more interested in telling you to leave because you’re «almost“closed instead of trying to service you. Even though there still cooking on the grill and the restaurant was full of people they do not want to serve me

I came back here last week and the meat was burnt. I was truly disappointed. We ended up throwing our food out. This used to be one of our favorite places, but we won’t be coming back. Also really should look into having a bathroom for your customers. My 3 year old didn’t have a place to go so we had to take our food to go. When we asked an associate she said that there is a bathroom, but my daughter couldn’t use it.

Sadly after not being here for over a year things have changed. I detected something not right when we arrived at 11:30am and the place was practically deserted. We ordered the Cheese Quesadilla(which was fine), 2 Beer Battered Fish Taco’s(which were greasy and unpleasant), and a Bean and Cheese Burrito which was luke warm. To the restaurants credit they remade the Luke warm Burrito but overall they ruined what could have been a nice lunch. hope they get their act together sooner than later…

Decided to try this taco place out for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. I got the veggie taco, which was filled with grilled peppers(yellow, red, and green.) I thought it was ok. I also ordered the chips and guacamole. I thought it was ok too. I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon since it wasn’t really anything special. I also noticed that the cashier was also preparing the food and didn’t bother to wash his hands or wear a glove between the two jobs.

We accidentally stumbled upon this place. After hiking Diamond Head, we found a nearby restaurant to eat at before our flight back to Molokai. Well that restaurant didn’t open for another 30 minutes, so we wandered down the street and found Surf N Turf Tacos. I got the breakfast burrito with bacon. It was a large burrito and I couldn’t finish it all. I would definitely get this again, but without bacon. I love my bacon to be super crispy and this wasn’t. However, I bet if I would’ve asked for extra crispy bacon, they wouldn’t done it for me. I didn’t watch them make my burrito, but I think they prepared the eggs and bacon for each burrito(rather than scooping it out of a container). My husband got fish tacos and some sort of beef taco and he thought both were really good. He loves hot sauce, so naturally he got the hottest one that was available(there are 4 different kinds on the counter). The hottest sauce is pretty damn hot, so just be careful. :) I enjoyed the vibe of this place. It was chill and very laid back. A perfect place to stop after a Diamond Head hike!

After a failed attempt to eat lunch at Pioneer Saloon(Closed Mondays) my friend and I decided to check out Surf N Tacos. We also didn’t have cash, so Bogarts was out of the question. I usually like ordering burritos but I decided to try their poke and special kalbi taco. The poke wasn’t the best I’ve had but it was fresh. I was digging the sweet, tender pieces of kalbi though and would definitely order it again. My friend’s burrito was massive but he’s a big boy and finished that baby with no problem. Even snacking on the chips after he was done. I had a bite of the breakfast burrito during another visit and plan on ordering it next time!
