Lulu sells the best mexican food on the island. She always works best solo. Once people see the green she makes they give her a hard time and Lulu functions only in positive environments and so the new management at On Stage Bar forced her out because they think that they can make mexican food just as good. NOT. Lulu is born and raised in Cancun, Mexico, she is a true descendant of Aztecs. She is still taking phone orders for catering events in case you need a private dinner, romantic beach dinners for two. She is focusing on her loyal customers that know how to value and appreciate her specialized Mexican cuisine.

HUGE, DELICIOUSBURRITOS!!! This was the best pork I’ve had in Hawaii. The meat is not too fatty and it’s seasoned just perfectly. I love that she puts guacamole in the burrito. My BF had the carne asada and that was equally delicious. I can’t wait to go back and order the nachos. I had a beer at the bar while waiting for my takout and the couple shooting pool had ordered it. It was piled high, enough for 4 to share. The only junk thing is parking, you have to find street parking but this food is well worth the hunt.

Located within On Stage, Lulu’s is an amazing culinary addition to Kapahulu! Lulu runs everything in the kitchen by herself and delivers her food personally. For starters, her homemade tortilla chips and pico are out of this world! I am a huge fan of her veggie tacos and quesadilla, but have tried her chicken and beef options which are seasoned perfectly. The portions are large and can be easily shared. Don’t expect your food quickly, especially if you have a large group, she is the only one back there cooking it up! It’s a fun time especially with the live local bands that play at On Stage! Love this place, my husband and I will continue eating here regularly :)

It’s inside a bar and takes only cash. The food is OK, not the 5-star the other reviews make it out to be. We were served by Lulu who has a warm smile.

operating INSIDE On Stage bar( ) is «Lulu’s Mexican Grill»… on my first visit, i tried the«Tolteco burrito» which has seasoned pork, green sauce, guac, sour cream, pretty much everything… and it is huge. i had to split this with a friend, and left full! :D admittedly though, even if i was full, i still wanted to eat her share of this burrito. the pork tasted very much like kalua pork, which is a good thing. this burrito is a little«wet», but still so delicious. on my second visit, i tried the«vegetariano», which is a vegetarian burrito that includes spicy potatoes, chipotle eggplant, corn, sweet peppers, cactus, green beans, Spanish rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, and pico de gallo… it is so much awesomeness packed in here, that you will not even miss the meat… best vegetarian burrito i’ve had! there is a good amount of spicyness in here too, so be sure you can handle! and Lulu is so super nice! don’t forget to tip her when she brings you her delicious cooking. also, she’s CASHONLY! the bar that she operates in takes cards for their drinks and such, but LULU is only cash…

Only giving five stars for the amazing food! We were shocked that the food was so incredible. Dont let the questionable exterior deter you from experiencing likely the most unique mexican meal on the island. The chips and guac will change your perspective on how bomb chips and guac can truly be! Droool, the chips are coated in some crazy good spice and the guac is fresh and juicy. Also had the chicken tacos which was a giant plate. Try Lulus fresh cooking when youre in the area!

Word of mouth from a friend, we decided to check out this place. It is located inside of On Stage Drinks and Grindz. She has a simple menu with roughly 20 items or so. There are roughly 10 tables or so located near the pool tables. Unfortunately, the pool tables are in proximity to the tables. And as the other reviewers have stated, you do have a rough crowd there with hooting and hollering and a few instances of vulgar language. Yet, I still think that the food will outweigh the ambiance. I ordered a carne asada burrito, which was huge! It was approximately 3.5″ by 6″ of pure goodness: avocado sauce, cheese, lettuce, and shucks, i am drawing a blank on the other items in the burrito. The highlight of the food was the cheap chips and avocado. The chips were baked and spiced with some salt. As for the avocado, they added some tomatoes, peppers, and cheese. Delicious and cheaply priced. If you have a big appetite, chow down some grub and enjoy some pool and some drinks.

Food was good, but the ambience was tough. The pool table next to the bar is just a little too close — kept getting jabbed in the side and back while eating my tacos — and the players don’t really care. $ 17 for the Don Miguel’s Wet Burrito Especiale is staggering but the burrito is pretty bomb. FYI the food sales are cash only. If Lulu’s was open for lunch I’d be back again sooner than I will be next time.

I grew up in New Mexico and have always loved, no been obsessed with good Mexi can food… Lulu’s is one of the BEST places I have ever had Mexican, hands down THEBEST place in Hawaii. I will be going back there all the time. Seating is tight, the locals are interesting, but the staff is friendly and the food is major ono! With a punch in the face of spicy food!!! If you love traditional Mexican food, check it out!

I had the privilege of experiencing Lulu’s Mexican Grill at On Stage Drink’s and Grindz, where her talents are currently being performed. I was raving to a friend about how amazing her food was and he was anxious to see for himself because he is a Mexican food connoisseur on an island where Real/Real-good Mexican food chefs are few and far between. We ordered the«Don Miguel’s Wet Burrito Especial» and we were truly blown away. From mind bursting flavors down to the importance of food presentation, Lulu hit all the right taste buds! As a Mexican myself, I was mouth-full and eyes-wide for the entirety of the meal. My friend looked over to me with confirmation that my enthusiasm for her food was legitimate. He can’t wait to use her catering option for his next party! We both can testify that LULU’S dishes are delicious!

Super tasty(and stuffed) burritos for only $ 10!!! One of the best deals in town for sure. I ordered the chilango, which is chicken, carne asada, and veggies. Split it with a friend and it was enough for both of us. Lulu’s so friendly. I chatted with her a bit and she made me a special mango salsa. Hot mango sauce — you read it right! My mouth’s watering just thinking back on it. She also has other dishes like tostada, all at $ 12, and I’m definitely coming back soon to try them out.
