Sonny’s Grill

I went to this Sonny’s because I read a review in the local paper. Wanda Adams, did they pay you to write a decent review??? I was very disappointed. The food is cheap, but you get what you pay for. .. and less. My wife had the Garlic Ahi, my brother had the Furikaki Mahi and I had the Beef Cutlet. The Ahi was very bland, couldn’t taste the garlic. The Mahi was alright, but a little dry. and my Cutlet was only so-​so. .. the beef was tender and the gravy was good, but nothing special. If you plan on going, order over the phone or expect to wait awhile, even when there are no customrs. We waited over 15 minutes and there was only 1 customer (2 plates) ahead of us. The fires were on special so I ordered one. .. but threw it away. It tasted stale. It was completely cold and has that gritty, oily taste like it was dropped in the fryer over an hour ago and just sat waiting. Maybe it was a fluke that day, but it was so bad, I wouldn’t give them a second chance. The only consolation was that at $ 6.75 a plate, we didn’t break the bank while being disappointed. Sorry, I usually refrain from saying bad things, but it really was that bad.

I find that there are a few things in walking distance from school. This is one of those places. It use to be Champion Madasadas, but now, it’s home to a cheap breakfast & plate lunch spot… or Coffee & Bubble Tea! The little shop is split into 2 spots. Upon entering the door it’s Island Brew on the left, and 5 steps to the right… is Sonny’s Grill.
I usually go there for the coffee but this time, we decided to check out the eating area on the right. We all got tuna melt & fries. It took a good 20 minutes plus to get our order. (we call in our orders now) Then again, I could only see one cook and 6 orders hanging from the window. The tuna melt is super yummy! *drooling* Its so oily and greasy… the paper they wrap it in is like a used blotting paper. (girls, you know what I’m talkin’ bout) Price is super cheap, most expensive is BBQ Trio 6.95. They have regular or mini plates. Sandwiches, breakfast, omelets. They only have 3 tables, and the only parking I think might be street parking.
