I’m surprised this place isn’t called«Russ’s Chris» since he pretty much owns the lanai area LOL. Jk Russ. Nice to see you last night tho. I came here for Happy Hour and was surprised at how quickly the lounge and bar area filled up. They have a pretty good selection of HH items — oysters, seared ahi, calamari, etc. We opted for a few to share and one of my regretable purchases was the shoe string fries. They were so hard to eat and I was so sad seeing everyone with these delicious basket of french fries lol. We also ordered a few rounds of drinks — I highly suggest not getting the margaritas since it was pretty much a slushy. The lychee martini’s were good and strong. I wasn’t aware you can reserve the lounge area but apparently you can because I saw a few reserved signs at the bar and on the tables. The food was good, the service was good and I’d definitely come back again for the drinks.

What is there not to love about Ruth’s Chris Steak House?! I always enjoy my dinner here. The service is always fantastic, and this is one of my favorite places to get a steak. You definitely pay more for a steak here, but it is worth it. The hot plate really keeps your steak at a great temperature throughout your entire meal. The butter they put on top is just the best thing ever. One of my favorite sides here that really stands out is the sweet potato casserole, it honestly tastes like a dessert. But I’d also save room for dessert too because their crème brûlée is awesome and torched to perfection. If you want an amazing steak, definitely make your way here. It is worth every penny.

I think my expectations were too high. Can you blame me?! Anywhere you have to throw down several bills for a dinner you’d expect unicorn dust and glitter and all that. We had our company Christmas dinner here so in their defense it was a rather busy time for them. Our reservations were at 830, we didn’t get seated until past 9pm because the other party before us ran over schedule. I have no complaints about our servers and bussers, they were excellent. The kitchen however… I broke the unspoken rule that at a steakhouse, you order steak. Me? The rebellious non-pork and beef eating girl, yeah I ordered the chicken. That’s right, I said chicken. I know with poultry it’s gotta be well done but I got my entrée so late after everyone else’s came out. There everyone was, waiting for me to get my food so they could eat, me turning red and trying to encourage everyone to start. It took 18 minutes for my dish to come out after the last person on the table got theirs(yeah I timed it). Can you imagine? 21 people waiting almost 20 minutes to eat their steaks, wondering why this one Asian girl would order chicken at Ruth’s Chris. In my defense, the chicken was delicious. I highly recommend it. High expectations lead to greater disappointment. Truer words have never been spoken.

Truth be told, Ruth’s Chris was not my favorite steak house for a long time. However, after the management changed at my former favorite steak restaurant, I found that so did the quality of food. Thus, I decided to give Ruth’s Chris another shot at winning my carnivorous heart. The restaurant quickly won me over with its tasty steaks and yummy sides. Heaven… sheer heaven. Ruth’s Chris at Restaurant Row(now Waterfront Plaza) has been a staple here ever since it opened. The restaurant is actually a romantic place with deep mohagany wood panels, velvet comfy half moon booths, and dim lighting. I’ve seen tables decorated with rose petals for anniversaries. The service here is always top notch and professional from the time you enter the restaurant to the time you leave. But, let’s talk about the food! The appetizers, soups, and salads are all delicious. I love the Shrimp Cocktail, Caesar Salad, and Sashimi. I am not an oyster eater, but the Oysters Rockefeller is always a crowd pleaser for many customers. There is an awesome selection of steaks from New York, Ribeye(including bone-in ribeye), and Filet Mignon. The sides are my favorite part, including Baked Potato, Mashed Potatoes(my favorite!), Broiled Tomatoes, and Sauteed Cremini Mushrooms. Oh, and don’t forget dessert! My favorite is the Apple Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. Delicious! The steaks here are served on a 500-degree sizzling platter. You can hear the butter on the plate sizzle and pop as your server reminds you not to touch the plate. Yes, it may seem like total overkill when they tell you over and over again about how hot the plate is and to not touch it, but you know someone is bound to be a rebel and try to defy logic from time-to-time. Sigh… The meat is so tender and juicy. The Ribeye I recently had melted in my mouth. So delicious. And yes, eating at Ruth’s Chris is probably best for a special occasion since the prices here can cost you a small fortune if you add wine, but it’s worth it. After all, sometimes you need and deserve a good steak to sooth your carnivorous hunger pangs. Ruth’s Chris is the perfect place!(#1)

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is the place you go when you are daydreaming about a mind-blowing steak. It’s the moment you space out of a riveting work meeting and visions of little filets dance in your head. It’s time to hit Ruth’s Chris. It goes without saying it is a classy joint with impeccable service. It was a busy night and the place was about 100% full with turning tables. However, Kevin made our table feel like we’re the only party in the world. The entrees are ala carte and the sides are vast. The sweet potato casserole was very sweet and indulgent. The pecan crust was more like a dessert than a side. The creamed spinach was a little thin with the cream sauce. The macaroni in the lobster mac and cheese was much too soft and the sauce was more creamy than cheesy. However. The steak. Was. Amazing. The rib eye was not only bursting with flavor, it was cooked so perfectly. It was tender, juicy, with a very complex flavor. Every steak you’ll eat after this one, you’ll wish tasted like this. Of course it will not and then disappointment will set in. Ways to eat here«on the cheap»(in quotes because it’s not really cheap, but it’s cheapER): 1. Bring your own booze. They will charge a corkage fee but in the end you’ll save cash. 2. Come during the early bird specials. 3. Join them for happy hour. 4. Buy gift cards at Costco for about 20% off. 5. Bring me. Nah, that’s the exact opposite of eating here on the cheap.

Went there for their happy hour, pretty darn good. The food come in monster size portion given the price. Passion fruit margarita is a bit sweet but the flavor is good. And you got free parking in the garage if you dined here.

Great food, great service. We weren’t able to get the reservation time we were looking for and was told to walk in for seating at either the bar, the lounge, or out on the Lanai. We walked in and sat right down. Right away we had water served along with our drink order taken. Bread was brought out and our order was given. I ordered the New York strip with green chile Mac and Cheese. Both were absolutely amazing. I like me a good medium steak and they didn’t disappoint. The perfect amount of pink! Be careful when they bring it out, it’s served on a plate that’s like 500 degrees. I’m not a fan of Mac and Cheese but this place has me hooked. It’s full of flavor and greatness. Overall this is a pricey place, but well worth it.

The food was great. Best steak we’ve ever had. We made reservations but still had to wait 20 min before being seated. When they served my steak they failed to explain my plate was 500 degrees and I burned the hell out of my finger when I tried the bring my plate closer to me. It kinda ruined my anniversary dinner with my wife.

We had our company’s annual holiday dinner here, and chose the«Orchid» set menu for $ 79.95 per person. The mushrooms stuffed with crab meat were tasty, and, with an excellent moscato — yes, a moscato — really whet our appetites. My ribeye was a decent size, but my medium-rare was more medium-well and quite unevenly done. Also, the steak had quite a bit of fat I had to trim. It was not particularly flavorful, tender, or juicy. For«prime» grade, a bit disappointing. I’ve had as good from Costco done up on a tabletop electric fish broiler. From a steakhouse, I expect WOW! Maybe the«Ruth’s Famous Fillet», in the hands of a more skilled cook, would have been a better choice. Several other guests’ steaks were not as requested too. My co-worker requested well done, and got blue. Did she get my steak? I began to wonder — are group orders regarded less? Is less attention paid to group orders? Is this really prime grade steak? Does Ruth’s Chris have its most rookie cook fill group orders? The dishwasher? If Pluto is a dog, what is Goofy? Why did the Howells, Ginger, and Mary Ann have so many changes of clothes with them if it was only a 3 hour tour? These are wonders a diner shouldn’t have at a not-inexpensive steakhouse. Except maybe the last 2. Of the accompaniments, the sauteed mushrooms were a standout. Cremini mushrooms roasted with garlic and thyme, then sauteed in a sauce made from veal demi-glacé. Chris, our server, reminded us that cremini’s are«baby portobello’s». Firm and flavorful. DELICIOUS. Google tells me that cremini’s are a good source of several vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant phytonutrients; and have a low glycemic index too. BONUS! Service by Chris — a 12-year Ruth’s Chris veteran — was very good. Personable, informative, and attentive. It was Chris who suggested the moscato for a sweet, fruity, white wine before and during dinner — my personal preference. There was no good Riesling to be had, so Chris suggested the moscato of St. Supery. And what a winning suggestion it was. Several of the dinner guests joined me in a glass or 2… or 4, and we easily polished off 2 bottles of the nectar over the course of the dinner. Wine customs be damned. I know what I like. If it’s a dessert wine that floats my boat, so be it. To me, it’s not about adhering to strict rules and codes. It’s about having fun and enjoying a meal out with friends and loved ones. And ENJOY we did. If not for Chris and that luscious moscato, I’d say our Ruth’s Chris experience was just a’ight, and I’d be just as happy to drop by Tamura’s and Costco, and fire up my Weber at home for the Gang. This is one instance where the front of the house pulled out another star for the whole restaurant team.

When searching for a romantic evening, Ruth Chris comes to mind for me. I had seen Unilocal pictures about how they put rose petals on your table, give your complimentary champagne and dessert when you celebrate your anniversary! So I booked our dinner and off we went! Expecting exceptional service & food on top of it all! I was quite disappointed with the service and maybe it was just me taking things the wrong way. I just felt like our waiter was. awkward and didn’t make me feel comfortable or catered to. I’m sure he didn’t mean to come off as awkward or interrogating but when we sat down he asked us if we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I looked at him confused and said oh no? It’s our dating anniversary. I just think he could’ve asked in a more… curious way vs coming off as questioning. He then didn’t really explain anything on the menu besides the soups and fish of the day. When he came back to take our order, I had to explain to him that it was our first time here for him to go more into detail about the steaks and menu. I couldn’t help but overhear the waiters at other tables around us where they asked if it was their first time, asked if they were celebrating anything special and actually explain the Restaurant Week menu. My boyfriend and I then ordered crab cakes for an appetizer and I thought it would be a good idea to spread some of my crab cake on the house bread. I thought the crab cakes were good but they were more crabby then patty to me. I wanted more starch because it was mushy and fishy. When the waiter saw what I was doing he looked at me funny and said«oh.that’s interesting.» I didn’t know what to say so I said«oh I’m sorry. Am I not supposed to do this?» He simply replied«I’ve just never seen anyone do that before.» And walked away. Again, I felt awkward & uncomfortable. Next, our steaks and sides came out. The steak was cooked exactly the way we wanted! We enjoyed our meal and thankfully, our waiter didn’t have anymore comments. When our free strawberry flambé came out, again, he just said here’s your free dessert and didn’t explain anything. It just so happened we overheard again another waiter actually explain what it was and told the couple not to blow out the flames because you’d fly alcohol at the person across the table. My boyfriend jokingly said«remember, the other waiter said don’t blow it!» Of course we made the most of the situation and had a great evening. I just didn’t feel like we got the exceptional service we saw other tables around us receive. I really wanted to like this place and everyone that’s been here has mentioned to me, «I’m sorry you just got a bad first impression. It’s usually exceptional!» but for me, first impressions are important and every experience should be exceptional if that’s the standard.

Ruth’s Chris is in Restaurant Row. It’s a great location that’s easy to find and has ample parking. 2.5 stars but I’m going to round up to 3 because of the great service I’ve had here. The steak here is very basic and mediocre in my opinion. For the amount that you pay for a steak here I feel you can get a better cut at other places or spend the money on some nice Wagyu. I’ve tried the Ribeye, Filet, and Tomahawk Ribeye and they were just ok.

We always go to Ruth Chris during Happy Hour, which is 5 – 7 pm daily. They have the best appetizers, around eight different choices, for a reasonable price. Plus they have a drink menu that has around ten different choices that range from $ 8 to $ 12 a drink. Every time we go to Ruth Chris, the service is the best I’ve ever had at any restaurant in Hawaii. Last night, George was our server. He would talk with us and made sure that our drinks were filled and food was good. When you hear the name Ruth Chris, first thing you think is expensive. You just need to go during Happy Hour and you will be delighted!!!

Before I begin, I want to give out a fair warning that I am a naturally thrifty college student working 2 jobs on the side. This review is going to include price for each item, so if you find that too«pakeh» for your liking, move on. It was my 5 year anniversary with girlfriend and I wanted it to make it special. She would pipe in every now and then how her co-workers raved about the best steakhouse in town… «Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.» So, I made reservations and the hostess kindly asked me what the occasion honored the first time visit and all of those fun questions. Directions: Driving up on Ala Moana Boulevard towards Nimitz, we took on right on South Street and made a cut all the way to the left lane to enter a parking garage. The restaurant itself is noticeable with bold red lettering and can easily be seen to passerby whether you’re walking or driving. Ruth’s is located at the Waterfront Plaza and neighbors the«M Nightclub» as well as the former old $ 1 theatre here. The parking was plentiful and easy to find. Ambiance: Any fancy restaurant wouldn’t be one unless it was dimly lit. As soon as I stepped in with my girlfriend, I was greeted by almost every sever I passed by as the hostess led us to our table that was in the corner facing to outwards to other patrons… The seating itself felt intimate and it was a pleasant surprise to find flower petals on our table as the hostess congratulated us on our 5 year anniversary, nice touch. Service: George must be my spirit animal. He religiously checked up on us and made sure we felt at ease. I saw the manager walking around the tables every now and then to ensure nothing was out of place. Even if the drinks were more than half way, it was filled with no hesitation! George did a great job on explaining and recommending the type of meats we should try… So, imagine our surprise when we literally had the best steak we ever tasted. Food: Yes, it’s expensive! But how often am I going to be here? Here’s the breakdown. The«fluffy» butter and warm French bread was delicious and complementary. We agreed on trying out the fresh Sashimi for $ 20. How can sashimi at a chain steakhouse be one of the best sashimi I have ever tasted? Who knows! The cut was fresh-melt-in-your-mouth heaven. Best appetizer I tried so far. The sides can be shared between 2 people. $ 6 for rice but don’t laugh! Some high end restaurants I’ve tried have messed up with rice by being dry and flaky. It was perfectly done. $ 12 for asparagus with a Hollandaise sauce. Wow, great touch. $ 21 for lobster Mac and cheese… It looks as if they stuffed 2 lobsters in this dish! Delectable but a little too rich for us. It was good to try it once but we will skip it for next time. But damn, even the sides were good! We opted for the $ 13040oz. Tomahawk steak medium rare. Keep in mind, majority of the steaks are priced between $ 40 to $ 80 each. The manager himself was kind enough to cut the steak in front of us in half while leaving the bone(something to give to the dogs!). Since we ordered the specialty cut, we even got to choose our own knives. Fancy all the way! The first bite? Imagine meat melting like butter with even more butter on top of it. My girlfriend hummed in approval(which is unlike her in any social setting) and I knew this restaurant was the right choice for our anniversary. Dessert: Before we ordered dessert, we received a complementary dessert for our anniversary… Berries on fire! It was so cool and romantic. But, my girlfriend and I wanted to get our money’s worth and got our own desserts. Cheesecake(her): have you ever wondered what your last meal would be? This cheesecake I tried I was fluffy, savory, and rich… The best goddamn cheesecake I’ve ever tasted. Chocolate Duo: the chocolate lava cake itself was delicious and rich but the Irish cream? Worth it! The desserts can easily be shared and they average from $ 10 to $ 12. Coffee tasted a little burnt but the decadent desserts compensated the bitter aftertaste. All this food and we didn’t finish our sides and steaks… So they kindly wrapped up our leftovers and made that look fancy as well. Before we left, we got a $ 20 gift card from the manager saying«Happy anniversary!» Best $ 240 I spent on a restaurant(plus $ 50 tip for the amazing services I received!) I will be back(with or without company!)

5 stars because I had an AMAZINGEXPERIENCE at Ruth’s Chris for my 1 year anniversary. The hostess started off the night with decorating our table with a TON of rose peddles. I wish I could remember her name so I could thank her for starting off our night so magically. Our server, Megan, started off by bringing me a red rose and congratulating us on our anniversary. The runner, Ry, did an AMAZING job at bring out our food quickly and explaining everything so we could fully enjoy our meal. M&M boxed our food and talked story with us to add to the amazing night. Megan, Ry, M&M, and the hostess needs a raise or needs to be recognized by management because they’re amazing workers and a great asset to the company. I’m a waitress so I’m very critical on the service I get and these workers were beyond amazing. Thank you everyone for making us feel so special for our anniversary. It was truly an awesome anniversary.

This review is seriously OVERDUE. My husband and I come to only this Ruth’s Chris, and for EVERY occasion we’ve celebrated for the past 9 years… plus for spontaneous dates when we feel like eating steak. So every birthday and anniversary… we come here. So I’d say 3 – 6 times a year since 2006? Their beef is amazing. If i had to have one last meal on earth, itd be at Ruth’s Chris. I love Ruth’s Chris so much, that one day I hope to own one! Compared to Mortons, Hys, Wolfgang, Ruth’s Chris’ steak is much more flavorful, a lot more tender, and with their 500 degree plates, it doesn’t get cold if you’re not a fast eater. Sure, everything is ala carte, but it’s worth it because it’s meant to share and their steak is just that good. Their sides are amazing too. Oyster shooters, oyster rockfellar, calamari, french onion soup, their ahi… everything is awesome! And you always have someone filling up your water and soda. It never reaches the bottom! The managers are there too making sure your dining experience is top notch. The servers and staff are ALL professional. I haven’t had a horrific experience to date. Go for prime time! 3 course meal for$ 48 – 58 from 5−6pm!

I’m sure such a legendary steakhouse doesn’t need an introduction or much else from the peanut gallery, so I’ll try to keep it short. If you don’t know about Ruth’s Chris, come if you crave an expensive slab of meat prepared exactly to your liking. It’s a steakhouse for the whole family. So if you’re on vacation, naturally you’re looking for fine dining juicy pieces of steak to splurge on your second to last night in Hawaii, and here you’ve found a worthy option. A well done chain. And if you’re a local, you understand the sadness and frustration of limited choice local steakhouses on such fertile and beautiful land. Seriously, Hawaiians, can’t we compete when it comes to the cow? Please? And maybe grass fed? For now, Ruth’s. I guess Chains are fine when it comes to meat; now that’s a seriously scary statement. Alas, Ruth’s is my favorite place for steak in Hawaii because of the quality and flavor and because they actually have one on the Big Island now. It’s the best option there but not my favorite steakhouse in the world, thank god. I prefer them over Mortons or even Hy’s. Still better slabs of ribeye and spot on flavor in my personal opinion. I always get the Ribeye baby! They do it well. Oh my drools. Thick, juicy, fatty, soft and tender, dripping wonder. When my appetite is smaller I’ll do the filet mignon, though it’s still a fair size. They do nice portions here. The cream spinach side thingy is yummy but I love Popeye and all things spinach. And Au Gratin hottie with a body, yes please, times two. I’m in heaven. Sweet omnivore heaven. I’m boring here and never get anything else besides these things, but it’s most always the ribeye. Maybe flaming strawberries if it’s my birthday. Woohoo.

«5 star all the way… baby!» Ruth Chris is by far one of my favorite steak houses of all time. I come here to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day. Whenever I come with my family, we ALWAYS have GREAT service and of course a GREAT meal. The staff work well as a team and is «Spot on!» From the moment we walk in to the moment we walk out. Hats off to everyone… including Esar the star of the kitchen! He is the restaurant’s Executive Chef. Thank you, Esar for the scrumptious meals that you create for us. We love everything that comes out of your domain. You are«Da’ Bomb!» Lately, we’ve been taking advantage of Ruth’s Daily Sizzlin’ Prime Time Menu Special during their Happy Hour from 5:00 — 6:00 p.m. This special offers a prix fix meal /3 course meal for a set price. You have the choice to select the following from that menu: A starter: cesar salad; steak house salad or soup of the day An entrée: 8 oz. petit filet mignon; stuffed chicken; BBQ shrimp; Chef’s catch of the day; 11 oz. filet with a grilled shrimp; veal chop or a 16 oz. rib eye(Note: there is a price difference depending on the entrée you choose) A side: mashed potatoes; creamed spinach; sautéed mushrooms; broccoli or broiled tomatoes. A dessert: ice cream/sorbet; bread pudding with whiskey sauce or an upgrade of another dessert for an additional charge. I highly recommend everyone to take advantage of this wonderful deal. The selection is wonderful, the portions are HUGE and the price is AMAZING! Just gotta’ go in early to snag this deal! It is worth it. My favorites are the following: Asian raw oyster shooters; spicy tuna; caesar salad;16 oz. rib eye; mashed potatoes; creamed spinach and the bread pudding with the whiskey sauce. Can’t wait to celebrate a special occasion soon!

Just like the other reviews, I was blown away by the steaks. But what won the five stars was the attentive service and how they were so friendly to my kids. Gets me every time. Two words: outstanding service! Tonight we celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday and it was nothing short of spectacular. Our server, Chris H., was very knowledgable, personable and attentive. One of the assistant servers(we didn’t catch his name), made sure our waters would never go below halfway. Lori, the manager, introduced herself and made sure we were taken care of. Small personal touches like that are what makes a quality restaurant stick out. Big portions, quality food, and happy tummys. We had the oyster shooters, 16 oz ribeye, petite filet mignon, Caesar salad, French onion soup, and our sides were mashed potatoes and mushrooms. We had to box our food up in order to save room for dessert. We had the vanilla ice cream with the complimentary strawberry flambé(Yum) and got a bread pudding to go. Definitely was worth it and will come back again soon! Highly recommend for a special occasion!

My mom said that I was a «good» baby because I only slept and ate. I hardly cried. Seems like I’m the same way now. Just put some food in front of me and I’m happy! Yes, Happy, as in Happy Hour… at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.(Monday — Friday from 5pm — 7pm) I kept seeing Michael C.‘s check ins; read his review; and felt like I should go soon because he has good taste! So, when a group of friends announced that they were going(even though it was a work night for me) I quickly said, «I’m in»! ENVIRONMENT I had been to this location about a year ago when I first started Unilocaling, but I hadn’t written a review. Since then, I forgot what I ate, but I do remember the great service, FREE validated parking at Restaurant Row, and pleasant environment. With the newly renovated interior, it must be even better, but we got a table outside on the lanai with the fresh air, cool Hawaiian Trade Winds, and VERY Warm sunshine. Our friend, Dear Daniel, was wearing a black t-shirt and said that next time, we will for sure sit inside. The umbrellas above us were not adjustable to block the setting rays of the sun. HAPPYHOURMENU — $ 10 each My first instinct was to order one of each Happy Hour item, but I felt like I would be the anchor because the gals were saying that they weren’t that hungry and the guys were just there for the drinks. Using the process of elimination, I decided I could skip the French Fries and the oysters. Sadly, they were out of the Blackened Ahi. So — I had: — Veal Osso Bucco Ravioli because it’s so different — it was! And ono, too! — The Mushrooms with Crabmeat were a bit too peppery for me, but I enjoyed them anyway… — The lightly breaded Fried Calamari were great with the Sweet Chili sauce! — the Barbequed Shrimp — it surprisingly was my favorite with the mashed potatoes! If I were by myself, I would have cleaned the plate — the sauce was SOGOOD, but my friends would have scolded me… If my tummy were larger, I would have used — the complimentary bread and soaked up the sauce with it! YUM! I must mention the bread again — crunchy crust, and lightly toasted on the flat surface, but still soft in the middle. How did they do that? I lost count of how many slices of bread I ate… oh, oh… It was time for me to be sleeping like a baby… so I left our group early to go and dream about when I would return to Ruth’s Chris and have more delicious food… thanks for the happy memories…
