Wow I started this review in May and now the joint is closed to no one’s great surprise. Good move Vino.

what: a ramen, pop-up lunch restaurant in vino! something good: the crab ramen. that’s all you need to know! it is so, so yummy that i couldn’t bring myself to try anything else on the menu! my coworkers and i did take out here a couple of times and i just can’t resist whenever they want to eat here! :) i am a huge fan of vino, so it didn’t surprise me that i would also love their ramen! the soup, which i normally don’t care for in other ramens, is so yummy that i wanted to eat it all :) the noodles are also perfect, as well as the deep flavoring. it’s just amazing~ something not so good: a little pricey for a ramen lunch, but i’d pay for it again :) ! something to try: crab ramen(18)

Good attempt at ramen but so western fused I found the taste to be terrible. Very sweet and nothing like I’m used to. A for effort but a miss for my taste. Friendly servers and plenty of room on a Thursday lunch.

Located IN Vino, stopped by here with co workers during lunch. It wasn’t too crowded and servers were friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. However they did forget to bring out two items(one which we remembered and got taken off, the other we ended up paying for). I had the Chinatown Ramen(or something like that? $ 12 I believe). It was pretty tasty and thought that the 5-spice broth was going to be overwhelming but it was pretty clean tasting and flavorful. It did taste very similar to an actual Chinatown bowl of noodles though that costs half the price. Still it was made well and so was the tonkotsu and miso ramen that my coworkers got, although there’s was a little on the sweeter side. The mango spritzer was super yummy, but the lemongrass iced tea was a bit too light on the lemongrass taste for my preference. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend to going out of your way for, but if you’re in the area or at Restaurant Row anyways might as well give it a go.

Service was amazing. Loved the ume seltzer. I had the Tonkotsu ramen and the broth was super sweet for my taste. My friend liked her oxtail ramen and the broth was more balanced than mine. i’d give it another shot.

I tried!!! and I am saddened! Waitress doubling as hostess Bartender doubling as bus person Mr. Furuya(owner of Vino, at least that is what I’m told) was there delivering food to tables Our order: SIMPLE2 bowls of ramen and 1– 3 piece order of gyoza The kicker!!! Bowls delivered to our table(I swear in less than 5 minutes) with a message«be careful, very very hot…» Yeah RIGHT! LUKEWARM at best Gyoza filling cold in the center The 2nd star is representative of the broth taste which is actually pretty good; if only they can get their temperatures right they’d be on the right path. And more important is the service offered by the Waitress and the Bartender and of course, the owner who wants to make sure he has satisfied customers. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them and the foodymoon is over.

One day at work, I thought, hrm, I want ramen for lunch? What are my options? Scanning my restaurant inventory in my brain of downtown, I couldn’t think of anywhere that would satisfy my craving. Forlorn, I contemplated driving for ramen when my coworker stopped by and said, «Eh, Trevor just came back from Slurp and said it was good. Like go?» Oh yeah! The ramen pop up at Vino! Shoots! I’m grateful that there’s a decent ramen offering by downtown. I enjoyed my bowl of ramen and the bowl was huuuuge. The ramen was tasty and for being in a lunch bind, this place satisfied my craving! Service was all smiles and helpful. They have homemade sodas here too! I got an ume soda and it was good. I like that there are specials, a good amount of appetizers, and exotic offerings! Keeps things interesting! In case you didn’t know, Slurp is a lunch pop up in Vino. I asked if they were going to do weekends but they said most of the eaters are downtown workers.

Slurp is located in Vino at restaurant row. There’s a lot of parking. When my friend said that was a new ramen restaurant, given my craving and live for ramen, I really have to visit. I had the tonkotsu ramen which was very delicious. The broth was a little sweet, and not too thick. I added a 7-minute egg too. I also order the gyoza which was much too peppery and meaty for my taste. The pork bun was very tasty, would order that again. The service was a little bit slow, although the restaurant was quite empty. Service was friendly. One thing that i wasn’t so pleased with was that the server forgot the egg in my friends order and forgot to bring the kimchi. We noticed the egg and prior to getting the bill so they took it off our check; but forgot about the kimchi. Unfortunately, we noticed after the bill came so we paid for it anyway. Would go again for the ramen, maybe try the tantan next time.

Midday Ramen Meal that Missed its Mark My coworkers and I went to Slurp on a whim one day because who doesn’t love a good bowl of ramen??? Tucked away in Restaurant Row this popup ramen place showed a lot of promise but the unfortunately tonkotsu ramen, for us, didn’t live up to its slurpy namesake. The first few bites were delicious but after a few more the joyous flavor dropped off quickly; after a discussion with my coworker we felt like the broth was *too* oily and unfortunately it coated our palates and stomachs to a point of no return… The pork on the other hand, was fantastic! the saving grace of the dish.

Had lunch with a co worker today. We both ordered the tan tan, we both agreed that 1. It was lukewarm when we got it. Agree with terry k of honolulu comment dated 10÷28÷14, so slurp had over one week to fix this problem, can’t eat lukewarm ramen. Bowl should have steam coming from bowl when served, in Japan they’ll even take the trouble to dip the bowl in hot water before filling it. 2. broth too salty. 3. Tan tan is supposed to be at least a little spicey, this wasn’t at all. 4. We won’t be back. 5. Maybe if you can serve ramen piping hot, we’ll try again. 6. Please take this as constructive criticism.

Slurp is a lunchtime ramen pop-up located in Vino. Yes, because I’ve always wanted to enjoy local-style ramen in space with faux Italian winery landscape murals and semi-romantic evening lighting at noon. The rich and oily truffled crab ramen broth is similar to Sansei’s, but the Slurp version is much better in my opinion, especially with the thin ramen noodles. I tried some of my friend’s paitan broth, which is also nice and something that I would consider ordering on a future visit. If you want to try the duck ramen, get there early — our server informed us that it was sold out by noon. My only gripe — the bowls do not have a lot of broth. The gyoza filling is heavy and meaty, and the flavor and texture seems more like won ton or gau gee than gyoza. I was told that the gyoza recipe is still evolving, so it may be a little different in the future. Chill and relaxing air conditioned environment with friendly service plus free two-hour validated parking. I think Slurp is a great place to have a casual sit-down lunch when you want to get out of downtown Honolulu without having to go too far.

Had an amazing lunch at Slurp! The lobster uni special was so delicious– the the layers of flavors were complex and pure. Keith Endo is a genius! The other dishes we had were also yummy: pork belly bao, crab ramen, and chicken yakitori. Portions were generous and very reasonably priced. Definitely deserves a repeat!

I saw a news segment called«cheap eats» on a local news station in Oahu. The food looked so good I had to try it. Upon arrival, there was a short wait(5 mins tops). The owner apologized for the wait. I told him I expected it since I saw this on the news last night. I cam for the duck, but they were out. I was not surprised since that was the featured dish on the news segment. My husband and I ordered the Shio Classic Ramen, Pork Belly Hoisin Bun, and the Chicken Gyoza. The food was excellent. Our server was wonderful. The owners stopped by several times to check on us. Please put this on your list of places to go for lunch. Well worth the money.

I really wanted to like this«pop-up» restaurant, especially since I work at Waterfront and I am always looking for a good lunch place that is quick, a good value and serves up good food. Well I got 0.5 out of 3. I ordered 1 Shio Ramen and 2 Chicken Yakitori Sticks for $ 12.xx. Speed of service(0⁄1): On my lunch break, I walked up at noon ordered take out and was told«10 minutes». 20 min later, server says, «awww your order came just after that large group over there. Little while more.» 5 min later I ask to check on the ETA. On her way to the kitchen, she gets sidetracked by people sitting at tables. 5 more min, and she comes by again and I ask her again to check on my order. «Oh yea, that’s right.» she says. She then goes to the back and returns with my order. So a total of 35+ min for 1 Ramen and 2 tiny Yakitori sticks. Insult to injury, the whole time I was sitting on the couch, there was 2 huge boxes of take out with 15+ Ramen bowls in it sitting on the glass table 2ft in front of my face, waiting for someone to pick up who never came the whole 30+ min I was waiting. BTW, 4 wait staff continously walked by me(including the manager) and not one of them said a word to me while I was waiting or after I finally got my food. But they did smile a lot. That was nice. Value(0⁄1): I will attach 2 photos of the food. The yakitori stick is smaller than 2 Altoids SMALLS tins. See my photos. Not worth the $ 2 per stick. No way. The portion of the ramen was about the same as a Nong Shim Kim Chee Ramen bowl. Minus the broth, the noodles and garnish took up less than ½ of the take out bowl(close to 1⁄3). I had to grab a spam musubi after this«meal» since the ramen and Yakitori was child like portions. Quality(0.5÷1): The Shio broth was OK. The Okinawan pork garnish was actually good, but about 20% fat. Inside 1 of the 2 the chicken sticks, it was still pink. Yakitori sauce was bland. The thin style noodles & garnish was cold and formed into the bowl which makes me wonder what took them so long to prepare it. It looked like it was prepped along with the bunch of others(like the ones on the glass table sitting by me) pulled from the fridge. If I had to compare the ramen, i’d say it’s comparable to TonTon or Ramen-Ya. Nuuanu Okazuya, Palace, Saimin House, Shige’s, Sonoya’s, ALL Shirokiya’s booths are better IMHO. Normally, I don’t mind waiting for food, but today I had a short time before a meeting and the server said 10 minutes. That was the only reason I chose to day to try it out. I mean if the food is not ready at the time you said it would be, at least provide an explanation and a new ETA. If it is still not ready at TWICE the amount of time stated has passed, offer a refund, comp something or have the manager explain. After 3TIMES the amount of time stated has passed and still no food, explanation or comp, expect this review on Unilocal.

I love Slurp. This was my second visit and it did not disappoint. The first time I had the Chinatown Duck Ramen, Pork Belly Buns and Chicken Yakitori. The buns are rich, decadent and delicious. The duck ramen was accented beautifully with cilantro. I enjoyed the specially made noodles used at Slurp. Chicken Yakitori had good flavor, two enthusiastic thumbs up! Determined to try new things each time I come back, I ordered the Mazemen Special. Chef Keith used Okinawan Soba noodles with smoked bacon, ikura, five minute egg, katsuboshi and tokyo negi to create this delightful dish. Rich and smokey, it was well balanced and just what I didn’t know I wanted. Lemongrass iced tea was the perfect drink to refresh my palate. Service was quick and polite. The pop up has been open for about 2 weeks now and I look forward to returning to try more!

Went to Slurp for lunch today… I said I wasn’t going to tell anyone, but I was so happy with that bowl of ramen that I had to say something. I had the Tantan ramen… great noodles that let the flavors of the soup cling to its sides… the toppings were perfect with generous slice of chashu, fresh memma, two halves of a soft boiled egg, Japanese negi. And thank you for the one-person order of three pieces of gyoza! Too many times have I had to order a five piece gyoza side only to be able to eat three. Next time I’m trying the tonkotsu ramen… or will it be the crab ramen with the truffle infused broth… or the oxtail ramen. Too many choices!

Great lunch stop. It’s a new lunch pop up restaurant inside of Vino! Service and food was excellent! We started off with the kurobuta pork buns. Pork was tender and went perfectly with the seasoned cucumbers and cilantro. Our table had the tantan, duck, and crab ramens. Noodles cooked perfectly and broth was very tasty. Even for people in a rush, this place is for you. Food came out fast.

I like the food selection, food is tasty, atmosphere is nice, a little loud with groups of people talking, good service, broth a little salty for my liking but I eat most food that have not salt added.
