Russell Imanaka, DDS

Dr. Imanaka is the BEST dentist I ever had. Here’s but a few pointers why:
1. He’s a great conversationalist, patient, thorough, and goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. He’s extremely adept at deciphering my jibberish when my mouth is full of cotton or whatever else. I feel like I’m learning something new every time I visit because he’s full of great information and likes to talk about current events; politics, family; etc. His great sense of humor makes it very easy to relax.
2. He remembers so many things about you even if he hasn’t seen you in a few years. It’s like visiting a (good) relative. Real aloha in this guy!
3. He runs a humble (rather old-​school) yet efficient office; sometimes doing everything on his own. But you’re never made to wait long. He’s open on Saturdays, even if it means he’s running the front desk AND performing dentistry simultaneously. I have NO IDEA how he does it.
4. He’s very thorough in explaining what is necessary vs. not necessary (re: dentistry, orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, etc.). He’s saved me THOUSANDS of dollars (not to mention saving me time, energy, and toothache) by explaining dental/​orthodontic schemes pushed out there by «professionals» out there to make a buck. He explains things and helps his clients make an informed decision that is good for their oral health and for the wallet. He’ll remind you «more expensive doesn’t mean it’s better». He’s a great resource for raw, unbiased information.
5. Not only is he open on Saturdays (most dentists are not); but I was very impressed when I left his office a voicemail on a Sunday because I cracked my tooth. He called back within a few hours (on a SUNDAY!) and made me an appointment the next day. AND he left me his mobile contact details in case an emergency came up in the meantime. Talk about service!
Dr. Imanaka, you have no parallel in this world.

While living on O‘ahu, I never met a dentist who made me feel more comfortable, made me laugh, and also made me think about the kind of choices I was making with my life. He is very educated, but humble about it and can talk in depth about a wide variety of topics.

He has been my dentist for 18 years & he is the best! He explains everything & never overcharges or suggest that you do anything that you don’t need!
