This place has discontinued it’s outlet. The closest one is at Beretania and Aala Street. That one is good, the guy working there was helpful and pleasant to me. It was my first time to a recycling center.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the earth, but I’m also extremely lazy, so recycling isn’t my favorite chore to do — particularly because it usually means waiting in a long line, baking in the hot sun, dealing with rude workers and weird customers. Reynolds Recycling’s Palama location takes a bit of the headache and hassle out of the monthly/bimonthly recycling trip. This location has lots of parking, no long lines(if you go right when they open), there’s a bit of shade and the workers(actually, there’s just one worker) are fairly pleasant. Location isn’t too difficult to find if you’re familiar with the area. There’s a sign at the entrance of Palama Settlement pointing the way.

I recently came here as the N Beretania St(across Aala Park), the one I have been going to for several months now, directed me to come to this location as they had maxed out the daily intake. This Palama location is also near my home but it was difficult to find as there was a tiny sign to indicate the recycling center. Located just behind Palama Settlement, you drive all the way back heading towards the mountain and at the end, you will see H-1 freeway and this recycle center. I immediately recognized the staff here(Shane) as he was trained at the N. Beretania location. He also remembered me as well. This location is not that busy because you pretty much need to come via car. I mean, if you had to haul your recycles all the way back here on a rocky pavement, NOT ideal if you ask me. I was advised this location is busy on Saturdays, when the bars come to cash in their deposits. Overall, this recycle center is a hidden gem. This sure beats the homeless and non-English speaking immigrants who go to the Beretania St location across Aala Park. Many times you see them cussing out the staff as well as the other people who come here to recycle. NOTE: This location has only 1 staff working so there may be a wait(compared to 2 or 3 staff at the Aala Park location).
