There are go-go dancers drawing so much attention at the windows at «First Friday». Boys if you didn’t notice, they are boys themselves too. Round booties in your faces will surely get anyone attention! The MC is Taylor and she is so much fun. She’s a cross dresser with legs for days and very entertaining to get the crowd bumpin’. It did help that we had a drunk friend from LA dancing like a freak on the dance floor. Taylor just let it rip and we definitely drew a crowd. The crowd is a mixture, more guys to girls. The bouncers there were super nice and offers to buy drinks for ladies there. So I’m not sure how much the entrance fee was, but we got in for free and got our drinks paid for. This place tends to bump trance like music, but by request, they were more than happy to spin some hip hop. You’ll probably have to be drunk to enjoy this place. This place is quite small, a one stall restroom that is shared with the guys. They have the fogger and laser lights all over, with 1 fully stocked bar. People are super friendly, it’s tolerable and fun. If you’re ready to party this is the place to be and everyone is on the dance floor.

First Friday’s this is the place to go. Get Pink Panther Shots. 10 of those and you’ll have the time of your life. Not kidding. Pink panther’s are damn good. Your on the main drag of Hotel Street but tucked away from the craziness. If you need a breather, come and chill here.

PROs: My hair is difficult. I have curly/wavy hair that takes anywhere from an hour to 2 hours to «tame.» I had also colored it myself and the whole look was a frizzy hot mess. After walking into PYNK, Shelly was honest and said to try the straight perm. Yes, it’s expensive. She then recommended a follow up visit for lowlights and corrective color. Her straight perm has literally changed my life. It takes me 30 minutes to get ready, from shower to out the door. I don’t fight with my hair anymore. Her honest opinions about what my hair looked like is what I want in a stylist. Because in the end, I think I look better for it. Isn’t that what their profession is supposed to do? I like PYNK and the owner/stylist. I like the concept of the salon, the location is young and the vibe is very relaxed and chill. It is not your average, run of the mill hair salon. I’m served fabulous refreshments, watch movies in what amounts to surround sound on a flat screen, and get good service. The products are excellent, the work on my hair is excellent. I have not ever had a stylist who could«Understand» curly hair. & I don’t leave looking like every other girl. I like that. CONS: There are always cons. The parking is non existent(Hotel St). The cell phone discussions that the other reviewer mentioned are a little distracting(I’ve never overheard a discussion about me like the other reviewer).

Ok, I’d like to think of myself as a fair, if not GENEROUS Unilocaler. So when I give a place ONESTAR… eek! I happened upon PYNK Salon Friday night. Coincidentally, I had read about this newly opened salon the day before. It seemed like a great concept — young female entrepreneurs giving stylish yet reasonably priced haircuts in the hip Chinatown district. And so I was happy when we walked in and were told that they were giving discounted haircuts in celebration of First Friday. Ok, instead of me rambling on and on about my wait for the stylist to get to my hair and the horrible experience that ensued, let me just give you a quick-ish breakdown… — Friendly greeting and invite to cut my hair for a discounted rate of $ 15(I believe regular price is $ 25) — Stylist tells me she’s going to straighten my hair before the cut so she can see the true length of my hair(Is this the norm? I’ve never had someone STRAIGHTEN my hair BEFORE a cut.) — Waiting around with my friends for the stylist’s chair to open up(a model is doing a photoshoot there) — I sit down while she starts putting up my hair in a clip, while she talks on her cell phone — I overhear her tell whoever she’s talking to that she’s cutting a «DRUNKGIRL’S» hair and that she’s «ALMOSTDONE» — Then she tells me my hair should be washed before it’s cut(Why is there not a a sink?) and that she’d rather cut my hair another time — She gives me her card and tells me to give her a call and that she’d really love to cut my hair sometime — We leave Umm, what WAS that? In their defense, I understand that this is probably not the typical salon experience. It was First Friday. It was about 11:30PM by the time we walked in. They’re probably tired from cutting/styling hair all night. But seriously… that was not professional at all, and actually downright offensive. Even if I was drunk to the point that I couldn’t hear what she was saying, why would you even say that aloud on the salon floor, let alone right in front of me? And if you’re preparing to leave for the night, please don’t invite me to cut my hair when you’d obviously be doing so haphazardly.
