I have been to McKinley for various trainings for the Department of Education. Mainly for one welcome orientation and several computer applications classes specified for my job. I think I have one more class coming up, a lab to practice and that’s it. Maybe more in the future as I expand as a secretary. The parking is great, sometimes packed like a can of sardines but they usually do open more parking areas beyond the chain link gated areas. Park on gravel always otherwise you risk being towed. Classrooms are clean and evenly spacious between computer stations. There are bathrooms located on the 1st and 2nd floors and you need a key for both(men & women’s)

After visiting Japan a year ago, I was amazed even more by the culture and the people. Although many Japanese understand English, it’s always nice to be able to communicate with people in their native language. Instead of throwing down $ 300 for Rosetta Stone, I decided to take a cheaper and more social route of going to adult community school. Here is a list of reasons why you should also take a foreign language class at adult community school: 1) Tuition and fees added up to $ 100. At two classes a week for about 8 weeks, each 2.5 hr class was ONLY $ 6. 2) There weren’t any quizzes or tests. 3) You can meet new people and make new friends 4) Before class every Wednesday evening you can grab dinner at the Blaisdell Farmers Market. 5) Parking is free 6) Attendance is not mandatory I learned a lot over those 16 classes with Tim Los Banos as our Japanese teacher. Rather than just focusing on teaching what’s in the textbook, we also learned useful things such as where to exchange US dollars for yen or what to do at an onsen. If I have the time in the future, I will definitely take another language class. You should too.
