Magoo’s Burgers

Before my hike I asked them what time they were closing. I was told 4pm. I timed our hike so my 3 year old would get to have shave ice after our hike. To our disappointment they closed at 3:50pm. I asked them if they could make a shave ice, they said no.
Terrible customer service!
We went to fort Ruger Market instead and got Hawaiian sherbert. That will be our post hike stop from now on.

We were so happy to catch this food truck before they closed at 4pm! After our hike we needed something thirst quenching. We got a pineapple smoothie and it was fresh made with real pineapple and so yummy. Bring cash

My kids had the rainbow shaved ice which was huge. They shared one.

It’s been a couple weeks since we went to Diamond Head but I wanted to post a review. We had just got done walking, I had worn my 11.5 month old son and we were hot. I was trying to figure out if they took card and the man working was trying to get my attention (didn’t realize he was talking to me as we were standing at a distance). My friend ended up getting food while I took my child and found a nice spot to sit. Friend came back and handed me an icee/​shaved ice thing. Apparently the kind man really wanted my son to have one free of charge. So thank you sir for your kindness, my son loved it (we all shared as he really didn’t need that much sugar as young as he is) but the gesture was appreciated! I will definitely eat there again next time we go up Diamond Head.

We just came down from hiking Diamond Head with our 3 little ones and they were starving. They did a great job and didn’t complain the whole time so we wanted to get them a smoothie and some burgers. We walked up to the truck to order and discovered they only take cash, which we didn’t have on us. The man was so kind and offered to give them free shaved ice. We told him he didn’t have to but he insisted. He ended up making them two shaved ice for free! We will definitely come back with cash! I love kind people and great customer service! Thank you!

The hot dogs are a must have at this spot. I was a little disappointed at the snow cone because as soon as I ordered it he handed it to me which makes me believe they had it prepared some time before and sure enough 2 seconds later the whole thing melted into sugar water. Even with that though the hotdog was so tasteful for the price after a long walk it is a must have.

Hawaiian shaved ice was so good. Hit the stop after hiking from our hotel to the crater and just before hiking to the outlook. I got the strawberry and coconut flavored did not disappoint. Check them out; prices are fair. Mahalo!

Got just some shaved ice from this brightly red painted truck. They offer a rainbow shaved ice cup. The rainbow flavor was tasty. It consists of strawberry (red), coconut (blue), and passionfruit (yellow). The best flavor was the strawberry syrup.
The shaved ice comes in this brightly blue cup /​cone. It looks like a blue plastic cup with a flower shaped lid on top. If you’re sharing a shaved ice cone like we were you should remind them to get you an extra spoon and straw. You’ll need the straw to slurp down the sugary goodness.
This particular truck is right by Diamond Head so as we finished our ascent we rewarded ourselves with some shaved ice. There’s a nice area with picnic tables nearby. The tables are brightly green and perfectly drilled to set down your shaved ice cup into the table. How awesome! Look mom no hands!
The tables are also shaded to provide the much needed relief from the sun that day. My only grip was the size of the ice crystals. They were rather large and it was like chewing ice.
Be sure to bring cash; as it helps to speed up the process. Nonetheless, I think they accepted credit cards.

So before we started our hike up Diamond Head my kiddos were already asking for shaved ice. We told them we’ll get some right after our hike. This became my kids’ motivation, especially for my 5 year old. We had a great, fun and wonderful hike. Our reward was the shaved ice from Magoo’s. I’ve had very good shaved ice before but not like this. The ice was a «fluffy» texture and the fruit flavors were OMG good!!! We mixed it up but our favorite was the coconut flavor and we’re not even big on coconut! This was straight up Hawaiian goodness in a cute colorful cup! Mahalo Magoo’s Burgers!

Excellent location, at the end of the diamond head trail. Went for the post hike shaved ice– refreshing after hot climb. Shaved ice is very akin to a popular treat back home in Nola: the snowball. Alas the ice here was not the smooth melt in your mouth frozen treat I get back home, or even that I’ve gotten while here at other shaved ice places.
So I recommend it as a great way to cool down from a tiring hike, but not bc it stands on its own as good shaved ice

After the hike to the top of Diamond Head we were beyond famished.
We Unilocaled and saw that Magoo’s was a top rated burger joint.
We questioned whether the food truck was highly rated ONLY because it was the only option nearby but, we decided to give it a shot.
Omg! The cheeseburgers were HEAVENLY!
I love a good burger and this food truck can turn them out!
I said that this would be my only reason to hike up Diamond Head again, so I could enjoy another Magoo’s cheeseburger! DEEEEEELISH!

Not only was the food great, but the staff was over the top fantastic. I can’t say enough about them. Prices are low so load up your belly! Burgers, Hot Dogs, Shaved Ice, and pineapple hit the spot after the hike up Diamond Head.
Not only are they over the top nice, they helped settle a sibling fight with what else? Snowballs!

Cold delicious shaved ice after the hike to the top of Diamond Head was almost as good as the cold cloth he gave us to wipe down our faces. It was brutally hot and it was a perfect end to a great day.

You really can’t ask for more after a morning hike in the rain; yes id like a cheeseburger to go please! The burger quality reminds me of a high quality cafeteria burger, the bun/​lettuce– fresh, people running the bus are friendly. Hits the spot, don’t have high expectations, it’s just a fun looking bus located at the start of diamond head.
Offer drinks, snow cones, and hot dogs.

The guy at the counter was super nice. He offered us ice towels to wipe off our foreheads. Then filled up our water bottle with ice and water for free. Highly highly recommended!!!

Perfect snack after the hike the flavors are great on the shaved ice they’re really concentrated with real flavor and only 3.50. The service wonderful! It was four of us, we order three shaved ices and the friendly man made sure we got 4 spoons cause 2 of us were obviously sharing and he gave us ice cold wet napkins to cool off after our hike. That’s awesome customer service.

He’s the only vendor here at diamond head so he doesnt have to try so hard for business and he still gives great customer service. I love that!
This place get 5 stars from me just for customer service alone but after trying the more expensive $ 4.00 shaved ice at the aloha stadium a few days later were I got overly chunky ice swimming in sugar water with absolutely no flavor. Magoo“s deserves more than 5 stars for both flavor and service.

5 stars alone for the level of service! Another 5 for the quality of their shaved ice. In a place where Magoo’s is the only vendor — call me cynical — they really don’t need to have a high level of service. Magoo’s has a captive audience in the 100’s, maybe even 1000’s, of visitors that arrive to the crater daily.
Thank you Magoo’s for proving that great customer service still exists!

These 2 stars are for the «Shave Ice».
After the hot and humid hike on Diamond Head, the fiancé and I decide to cool down with some shaved ice from Magoo’s Burgers (Since they’re the only food truck at the State Park). Mind you, the other day we had Waiola Shave Ice. So we had that experience to compare Magoo’s «Shave Ice».
Let’s keep it real. Magoo’s should call their «shave ice» a Snow Cone. Because that’s what it tasted like. It had huge pebbles of ice. It wasn’t creamy and smooth. The texture of the ice was crunchy. A slurpy from 7 Eleven would have been smoother.
I wasn’t able to try any of their other menu options. I guess I was expecting every Hawaiian place that sells Shave Ice to taste as amazing as Waiola or Matsumoto. Guess not!

What an awesome Hot Dog and Cheeseburger we enjoyed! Seriously! Give Magoo’s a try! You won’t regret it!
With an Aloha welcome and gigantic grin your greeted like your the king & Queen! What a nice guy! Handed us cold napkins to cool our sweaty brows from climbing down Diamond Head! We ordered our food and whilst waiting for our order I noticed how everyone got a killer Aloha greeting! What a happy-​go-​lucky-​kinda guy!
My sausage sized hot dog arrived I sunk my teeth into goodness! You could taste the hot dog and the texture was perfect! Not crunchy like other brands of dogs. I don’t prefer crunchy dogs. Bun was fresh. Hubby’s cheeseburger had a good sized patty with a generous slice of cheddar that lay across the patty. Both of these All American favorite foods gets a 2 thumbs up form us!
This food truck looks clean and tidy and well kept. Which I appreciate when selling food from a 4wheeled vehicle. LOL
Prices are very reasonable and he sells shave ice and drinks too.
