Old school, hole-in-the-wall joint with no places to seat(except on the curb in front), super friendly staff and only 3 items on the menu… and that’s all you need since their pork bowl is one of the best I’ve ever had– simple, delicious, and probably unhealthy but what healthy food taste this good right… Loved it and plan to go again soon.

This place is perfect for a hot summer day. Grab a pork bowl and some shaved ice and you’re set to go! The mini pork bowl has 4 pieces of peek and one panko fried egg on top drizzled with a sweet soy sauce based sauce. The pork melts when you put it in your mouth and the sauce goes extremely well with it! The shaved ice comes in either a cup(small) or a bowl. When you order the shave ice, you will get a separate number compared to the pork bowl lines so be sure to keep your number!

Finally got my pork Bowl fix after returning home! Went on a Sunday(it was very crowded). The line was about a 10 minute wait and then another 10 minute wait for the food, but TOTALLYWORTHIT. The pork, panko egg, and shaved ice were as perfect as I remembered. Definitely returning before I have to leave. :)

Need my pork bowl extra egg fix, shop is still closed. Today is January 16,2016, bummers but will finish my review when it opens again. Today is June 11,2016 finally I got to come back and get my Pork Bowl extra egg fix. It’s been closed for awhile but not now it’s open with different hours of operation, main thing open Saturday. I have eaten a lot of pork bowls, extra egg and it tastes as good as my first bowl eaten long ago. I recommend this eatery, they have other entrees but I come here for the Pork Bowl, extra egg.

Just like how mom makes(maybe even better?) –gasp– It really is a hole-in-the-wall because we almost drove right by it; surrounded by a bunch of houses, it almost blends right in! Street parking is your best bet but you’re bound to find one so don’t fret. This place was really small but had a lot of people waiting outside for their food so you can tell that this place was going to be worth your tastebuds. Seating is really limited(8 counter seats?) You just got to keep an eye out for someone leaving –watch like a hawk– Sitting on the steps wasn’t so bad because it was shaded but the moment people left the counters, I was able to snag two seats YAY! Wait time can be a while(15 – 20 minutes) but if you look behind the cashier, you can see why. There’s only two people working the kitchen and it’s freshly made. They really take their time making sure every bowl is in order(made with love + care) and it’s definitely worth the wait. The pork is tender and packed with flavor from the sauce and they don’t cheap out on the meat. I never had fried soft boiled egg before and I loved it! It wasn’t as runny as I thought it would be but it was perfect. I saw a lot of people willing to cash out for an extra egg($ 2.70) The bowl was filling but we still had room for their shave ice! We decided to make our own shave ice: strawberry + mango + condensed milk for less than 5 bucks. The only sad thing is that the syrup doesn’t reach all the way to the bottom of the bowl so we had a huge white spot in the middle. Simple solution? Just mix everything together to evenly distribute the syrup. It tasted delicious! Especially the mango. You can tell they don’t use artificial syrup. I heard they use the actual fruit’s juices. I totally recommend coming down here and trying out their bowls and shave ice! After all, they are named 2016’s best hole-in-the-wall

First time here and I was looking forward to getting their infamous Pork bowl with the fried soft boiled egg… I get in there and they’re SOLDOUT. Second time I come. Same thing :( Finally, the third time I come they’re still available. Praise Jesus Hallelujah.(Note: come early, they probably sell out by 2pm) Anyways, here’s my review on their food & shave ice: Pork bowl: Yes, yes yes!!! You must try it! The fried soft boil egg is sooo good and perfect, the pork is delicious. Steak bowl: Really good steak, so yummy and tender with great sauce. It’s kind of pricey for the amount that you get, but it’s a must try at least once kind of plate. Sesame chicken: Eh, it was okay. Not really my favorite. Tasted like chicken with a sweeter ko chu jun sauce(Korean sauce i don’t know if the spelling is right lol). Shave ice: Yes! they make their own syrups. I’ve tried all of the flavor now, haupia, mango, strawberry, green tea and they’re all delicious. I just came today and they have a new flavor guava, can’t wait to try that one! Overall, I really like this place. The shave ice and pork bowl is a must try. Some tips I can give you is that it takes a while to get your food; I waited about 25 minutes on a busy lunch day and about 15 minutes on a not too busy day. Definitely worth the wait if you have the time!

I love coming here for their shave ice. The small cup is just enough to satisfy my thirst, taste and pockets! I usually order a Small Cup Shave Ice with Strawberry and Condensed Milk. The guy told me it comes with 2 flavors so I took it and got Guava. It was DELICIOUS. Personally I don’t like fake, sugary liquids but this one is less sugary and tastes more natural. I also love getting the Pork Bowl. you can get a mini or regular size, and it comes with a deep fried soft boil egg. Extra is $ 2.50 — Worth the price!!!

One word for it all: Heaven. This place had made magic and made food taste like Heaven. This total hole in the wall joint is a cute little mom and pop shop, hidden on a random street in Kaimuki; so be on the look out because its easy to miss. There is only street parking and because this place is popular it can be a little tough to find parking. But trust me my Unilocal friends: it is worth it. Now this place is known for their infamous pork bowl, and its right for it to be so. Imagine succulent, flavorful pork on a bed of fluffy rice that is topped with the sweet sauce that it is cooked in along with a deep fried soft boiled egg. Thats right guys. DEEPFRIEDSOFTBOILEDEGG. What the heck??? Every bite is better than the last, and I get really sad when its all gone, haha. Their shaved ice is really delicious as well. A friend had ordered the guava and they didnt use syrup, but the actual fruit to flavor it. It was so gooooood and refreshing. Prices aren’t bad at all, and its very much worth it. There is a small counter that could fit about 4 people for you to dine on. But just do as others do and eat on the steps. You’ll feel like a little kid again: D I’ll be honest, I havent tried the steak or oyakodon yet. I keep telling myself to try it, but I cant imagine myself walking away from this place without a pork bowl in my hand.

When Your Kitchen temporarily closed, I was despondent. Everything seemed gray and dreary. This sounds melodramatic, but Your Kitchen pork bowls with extra extra eggs are one of my favorite things in the world to eat! Well, THEY’REOPENAGAIN!!! Game of Thrones is back, Your Kitchen is open again. Life is good.

THEY’REOPENAGAIN!!! Yay! After being closed for the past couple of months, they’ve finally re-opened! Now I can get my fix of Shoyu Pork with two eggs!!! Haha! There’s also something new on the menu, Sesame Chicken. Kind of pricey, but the chicken was incredibly tender and the sesame sauce was absolutely delish! I would buy that again! Keep in mind they have NEW hours and its still CASHONLY. What are you waiting for… GONOW!!!

My friend had suggested we come here so we came by one morning right when it opened. There was already a short line outside when we got there. Street parking right outside. We ordered a mini pork bowl which everyone suggests that we get. And a sesame fried chicken. The pork bowl was amazing and the egg was to die for! No words to describe, just try it for yourself! Rice was a little mushy but nothing that would affect me from buying it again. The sesame fried chicken was ok… Maybe it just wasn’t worth the 10 dollars I paid rather than the 7 for the pork bowl. Friendly service. Cute shop. Definitely recommend trying it out!

Just recently found this place and I soo happy I did! They are located near a few other small shops in the middle of neighborhood, so parking can be difficult but we usually always find one on a side street nearby. Their pork bowl is so delicious and the only thing I get when I come here. The egg is a little pricey at $ 2.40 extra for a second one, but so worth it. Everything is made with the utmost love and care, but keeping that in mind it can take 20 – 30 minutes for your order so be prepared to wait! and remember CASHONLY! I knocked off one star because I made a phone order and the gentleman on the phone told me it would be about 20 – 25 minutes so I made my way there slowly. However when I got there I ended up waiting about 40 minutes total for my two pork bowls. It seems as if they wait until you get there and pay before starting your order. But I did notice we got our food quicker than a few others who ordered before us.

A tiny place on busy 10th Avenue in Palolo, there isn’t any parking lot, so find parking on the street where you may… There are about 6 stools against a counter by the windows. There are only 4 offerings for lunch: Pork bowl, beef steak bowl, sesame fried chicken and oyakodon in regular or mini sizes. Best to order in advance because it takes a while(15 – 20 minutes) to get your order. I ordered the mini beef steak bowl. There were 7 pieces of steak, medium rare, the way I love meat. It was laid over white rice and had 5 crisp, homemade potato crisps on top. There was a teriyaki sauce over the meat. I’m a small eater, but at $ 8.37 for the mini beef steak bowl, I was left hungry… The steak was indeed tender and flavorful with the teriyaki sauce, but the rice was like dango(mushy, non-separated rice that has been made with too much water). The staff were friendly enough, but service is slow. For the money, I’d rather go somewhere faster and that gives more food!

Finally writing a review after my third time coming here today after they reopened. They’ve been closed since November due to a family issue so I thought it was a good idea to stop by today since my friend also wanted to give their pork bowls a try! Your Kitchen is located in the Kaimuki neighborhood, surrounded by a bunch of houses. No parking garage but street parking is always available. It can be difficult to find parking during peak hours though. Your Kitchen is considered one of the best«hole in the wall» places on the island. There’s also an official plaque that says so lol! The shop is quite small with extremely limited seating, so it’s usually a grab-and-go type of thing, but some people choose to eat outside. Menu is also very limited – just several types of rice bowls and also shave ice. And cash only! I have not tried anything but their pork bowls but all I have to say is that it is so good… but so fattening. The pork is so tender, juicy, & moist, and the fat literally just melts in your mouth! It was definitely marinated to perfection. The fried soft boiled egg that comes with it makes the whole meal even more satisfying. I get pretty tired of the rich taste from eating the pork so the soft boiled egg makes up for it. My boyfriend usually gets two eggs because he enjoys it that much. Sometimes, the food does take a while especially because it can get very busy. I hope I’ll be able try all the other rice bowls and shave ice next time! Overall, friendly service, food quality is wonderful, and prices are very reasonable. When you’re in Kaimuki area, it’s necessary to stop by Your Kitchen!

There’s something about local mom and pop shops that just warms my heart especially in an age that’s popularizing trendy hipster type shops. There’s something to be appreciated about the quaint and modest little interior that cannot be underestimated or looked over. Your Kitchen has superior food that you know can only come from homemade quality cooking and years of love sweat and dedication. I will be raving about the pork bowl as many others have already done. The meat — incredibly tender and moist and fatty(but the good kind of fat that adds to the melt in your mouth texture and punches you in the mouth with flavor). The incredible most definitely edible egg — when you slice this baby open, words cannot describe! It’s slightly fried but inside is still a little gooey. On your eating utensil there must be a perfect ratio of sauce covered rice, meat and egg. Perfecto! Parking: Street Parking(you may have to search or you might be lucky and score a spot quickly, just depends on time and day) Seating: Limited seating. But you know what, just go outside on the sidewalk, stand and enjoy on the spot. I hope Your Kitchen stays open(forever!) and continues with its legacy of delicious, simple, old school no frills good eats. Now hurry up and eat here and alright, it’s cool if you tell your friends about this place too.

I don’t have a tiny, loving Japanese baachan that crafts insanely high-level culinary magic in the kitchen, but if I did, this is just the kind of stuff she’d be dishing up. On your first visit, of many I’m assuming, you have to get the pork bowl. A large heap of rice topped with luscious chunks of buta kakuni that shred apart and melt in your mouth leaving behind only a pure and unadulterated explosive burst of umami. Don’t forget about the panko-coated deep fried soft boiled egg. I don’t even know where to begin with this. The coating is slightly sweet and maintains its crispness while the yolk inside is runny and velvety. The service here is on par with Japanese customer service standards. The workers are very kind and polite. They’ll even go outside to call you when your order is ready if you happen to not be waiting in the restaurant. The parking situation can be a bit troublesome. Bring a friend and have them run in to pick your food up or try parking about a block down on one of the side streets.

This is the first time that I desperately wanted to go back to a restaurant the day we were about to fly home. And yes, my husband and I took a short drive(out of the way) here to pick up a bowl to eat in the car/at the airport– totally worth it. We tried the oyakudon and pork don(about $ 9), but the pork don is the one to rave about. The pork is so fatty, and so buttery, it almost melts in your mouth-absolutely delicious!!! The sauce was delicious, and their tempura egg was perfectly cooked where the inside is still leaky. The tempura batter to lightly fry the egg outside is icing on the cake. Their menu only consist of three items, and many flavors of shaved ice. But it goes to show that if you just do a few things right, you are golden. It’s definitely a grab and go type of place since it’s pretty small inside, and yes cash only. DONOTPASS on ordering the pork don if you come here, or you will regret it.

Mi kitchen es su kitchen! Daniel L. and I rushed over here during the lunch hour to eat their famous regular oyakudon($ 8.25) which was filled with the creamy egg goodness, onions and chicken over hot white rice. How could you say no to the perfect bowl of this generous portion which had a slight sweet sauce covering the toppings and soaked by the rice? They also have a mini version for $ 5.50. They are known for their pork belly but my diet was screaming«No!» Because you know I’m all about that ice, the shave ice earns a solid 5 starts! We started with a large($ 4) while waiting for our bowl. The green tea was the best on the island! We liked it so much we ordered a second large of guava and green tea. Now I admit I’m not the biggest guava fan but this syrup was spot on and quickly melted in my mouth. I would come here just for the shave ice! This is definitely a must when you’re visiting Oahu and get two shave ice servings or else you’ll be fighting for the last bite like me and Daniel! Parking is in a residential area and there were only a few bar stools seating inside. Closed on Monday and Tuesday.

I visited Your Kitchen back in May, and I swear I had written a review but I don’t see it – so here it goes again! Things to note: CASHONLY. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays! I would recommend going earlier in the day before they sell out of the popular items, like the pork bowl. Located down 10th Avenue. If you’re heading away from Waialae, it will be on the right hand side. There was lots of street parking when I got there at 11AM. I must have gotten there at the perfect time, because when I arrived there were only 2 other people in the shop. There is extremely, extremely limited«counter» type seating here. Literally, only about 7 bar stools. By the time I left every seat was taken, and there were people eating outside. I called before I got there, as I’d read here on Unilocal that the food can sometimes take a while since everything is made to order. When I arrived, the food was ready to go. Since there was seating when I got there, I dined in and ordered a strawberry shave ice to go along with my pork bowl. The pork bowl did NOT disappoint. It was SORICH and probably raised my cholesterol level by about 10 points, but there’s really nothing else that I’ve ever tasted like it. I even ordered an extra soft boiled egg. I’ve never had a soft boiled egg before, but it was delightful – almost TOO delightful, I couldn’t finish the second egg because I got a little overwhelmed with the richness of the pork fat and the egg. Still, it was so memorable, and I’d definitely get the pork bowl again – just without needing the extra egg. The strawberry shave ice tasted unlike any other shave ice I’ve had. It had the perfect amount of homemade syrup(I hate when there isn’t enough syrup on shave ice). That combined with the ice cream was the perfect combination for the hot weather. I would definitely love to come back the next time I’m in town. :)
