Seriously, every time I go to Jasmine Deli I leave unhappy. It’s usually when the lady rings me up then later when I eat the food. The food is mediocre and the price does not reflect that. I only ate one good thing here spam musubi with takuwan. And that cost me $ 2.00! When will I learn my lesson:-(

Actually went to try Nuuanu Okazuya but noticed there was another Okazuya called Jasmine so I ended up buying tempura from both places. I cant cretiue on things I havent tried so today it was for tempura. After tring Caryn;s Okazu very hilarious shrimp tempura(never seen cooked that way) and vegi temp. I wanted to see who had best tempura out of the Okazu-ya places. Nuuanu was okay but shrimp wasn’t really tempura, it is what Japanese call ebifry. although the vegi was tempura. Bought same thing from Jasmine Dell Okazuya and the shrimp was bigger and vegi temp was really huge but thought prices was high compared to Nuuanu. Went home since I needed tsuyu for my tempura and gotta say Jasmine’s shrimp tempura was much noticeably better, it was softer and kinda melted in the mouth. Vegi both were okay just twice as big for Jasmine;s one. Axtually gotta say I love Jasmines shrimp tempura and even at a little more to pay, I would rather eat there. Oishikatta!

As Okazuya’s go the prices were in the ballpark tending toward the expensive side but the food was good a little slow moving but very pleasant help as always with a Okazuya go early or things will run out. The selection is much less than their competitor several stores down and I think slightly more expensive. as far as eating in there is about 3 tables in there, parking is quite sparse to on the street in front if you are lucky. As far as the food the flavors are not bad, the selection is a bit more limited than most Okazuya’s(before the rush) and tends to run out really quick but if you go early you will be much more likely to get what standard things you want.

This place is a TOTAL rip-off … a simple plate of one musubi, a hamburger, a hot dog, a sweet potato tempura and gobo cost $ 12.25 … i get the same stuff all the time at Gulick’s Delicatessen for about $ 7 … and it tasts WAY better at Gulicks … everything was cold at Jasmine. I wont be going there again … wanted to be sure to warn everyone else! aloha!

Jasmine Deli is located where Tokiwa used to be(moment of respectful silence) a couple doors makai of Nuuanu Okazuya on Nuuanu Street before Vineyard Blvd. I want Tokiwa back! All right, enough whining. Here’s the review: Food: Good, but not great and not as good as the now defunct Tokiwa(*sniff*) or Nuuanu Okazuya. They have the furikake chicken(which is pretty good), the kabocha(smaller than Nuuanu and not as yums), fried garlic chicken(good), musubis, hamburger patty(in a teri sauce), corned beef hash(flat). Service: Sometimes everyone is in the back, but there is a little bell to ring if you want service. A few small tables and chairs, but most people get their food to go(plus it’s hot in there, the air circulation is not the best). Ambiance: Not really worth mentioning. Same as any other cramped okazuya. Overall: Slightly more expensive than Nuuanu Okazuya. One furikake chicken, one garlic chicken, one musubi and one corned beef hash was $ 7.50, I think. The plate in the pic was also over $ 7. I guess if you’re tired of Nuuanu and want something a little different, check this place out. Otherwise, I’m sticking to Nuuanu.
