A client took me here for lunch and now we always eat there for our meetings. The pirakake? Pikake? spicy broth is my favorite. The lunch portion is perfect. Afterwards you can add udon noodles or zosui? rice in the pot~ and by then the broth is so much better. Dessert is a must. Highly recommend the green tea ice cream and mocha combo~ Service is always great and clean.

This is for the customer service, not food. Yesterday my BF and I decided we wanted to try the dessert here since it was around the area. Of course my BF goes to the host asking if we could have a seat, and he tells him that there’s no seats right now and they are full from reservations. So then I asked my BF, is he basically telling us we can’t eat there or even wait for a table since he didn’t even bother to ask him for a name. So he went back, and he tells us the wait is 7−10minutes, by that time it was already 6pm. The ladies next to us asked how long was our wait and they said he told them 7:30pm. But maybe 15 min later he calls them in, and tells them something I’ve never heard any host or restaurant tell a customer. But he says«you only have an hour and 14 minutes» to basically eat/order. Btw, we also waited till 6:38pm but decided to blow it and went to Teapresso next door instead. So if you decide to eat here, best to make a reservation.

Never been to this Ichiriki before but it was great here! I was only disappointed to find out that happy hour wasn’t at 11am like the one in Aiea and Kaneohe. However, we came right when they opened and was seated immediately! The host didn’t smile at all tho which just made me think he didn’t wanna be there. We sat in that section where you have to take off your shoes which was fun or the kids and for me bc I’ve usually sat the reg tables at the other ichirikis. Fun experience:) I didn’t ask or remember our servers name but he was great! Very tentative and nice :) Appetizers –Arabiki sausages: 3⁄5 nothing special. Sauces are just mayo, ketchup, and mustard. –Pork Kimchee: 5⁄5 never disappoints!!! :)))) –Mushroom medley: 4⁄5 lacking in flavor a bit. Paintan & Ichiriki soup bases were yumm!!! Got short rib chanko and pork belly chanko with side beef ball, extra enoki, and shrimp! Super full!!! Love it here! Parking in the back but very small, tight lot shared with other small businesses like the karaōke place and teapresso. However we parked across the street in a corner lot where eggs and things, payless, and cho dang are located :)

that’s HOT! Thanks to one of my movie buds, I am slowly becoming familiar with the dining experience that is hot pot cooking. I’ll be honest to say that this concept of going-out-to-eat-but– having-to-cook-your-own-food did not sound very appealing at first. Well, not at all really. But, now that I have been to the multiple Ichiriki locations, I can say that you get used to the idea/concept. PARKING: Street or nearby pay lots. There is a SMALL lot behind the building the restaurant is located in, but there’s only one entrance that’s used to enter and exit, so maneuvering your vehicle may have a slight degree of difficulty. Fortunately, we were lucky on the(rainy) night we visited as there were a few cars exiting the lot. NOTE: Reservations taken. We had a 630pm res and they seated us promptly. For those unfamiliar with hot pot dining or having their first visit ever to Ichiriki, the menu thankfully offers a step by step ordering process: 1. Choose your pot 2. Choose your broth 3. Choose your meal set And its literally numbered as well to help diners expedite the ordering process to the server. Based on their numbered ordering process, I chose: 1. Regular pot 2. Ichiriki broth(shoyu based) 3. Short Rib Chanko(meal) NOTE: There are also premium broths on the menu at a additional cost, one or two dollars more, as well as extra servings of the meats, seafood, and vegetables(on the back of the menu). To start, we all shared the mushroom medley and the maguro tartar. The portions are decent, but I would recommend ordering multiple appetizers for large groups. The server first brought out the broths and started our burners, which was followed by our vegetables and meat. Overall, I was very satisfied with my choice. I loved the broth, and the hot pot meal was a welcome choice on a rainy evening. I also appreciated that I could just put in my meat and vegetables at my leisure, and just basically eat at my own pace. Personally, I felt the price point for my meal was very satisfactory. SERVICE: Very attentive. Our server was very patient, helpful, and answered all our questions about the menu. We appreciated her patience with our group of six as half the group had never been to Ichiriki previously. Excellent service overall. BOTTOMLINE: HOT pot is HOT! A great meal in a welcoming environment. Exceptional customer service by the staff.

After a short wait, we were seated and quickly had our order taken. The chicken karaage came hot and fast. Very crispy and delicious. The ahi avacado poke was fresh and ono! We opted for spicy shoyu broth with ribeye– a great choice. Plenty meat, veggies and noodles. Super yum with the 2 dipping sauces… The pork kim chee was warm, unique and also really tasty. The sake sampler worked well, we had 1 each! All in all, good service, food and value. I will be back

I really enjoyed this place. The quality of food is very good. And the staff was very attentive and friendly. In fact, my fiancé had a headache and they had Advil to give when we asked. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone. The other thing that’s nice is that it’s more of a local spot, so it’s not too crowded.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Ichiriki. I eat at Ichiriki at least 3x a week. No joke. Lol. My friends don’t even ask where I want to go to lunch because they know I wouldn’t go anywhere else. lol. Let’s start with the food. I love and worship the pirikara soup. It’s like drinking holy water. I usually get the pirikara, ALL salmon, vegetables, extra enoki mushrooms, ponzu, and brown rice. The staff and management are awesome. My order is not on the menu but they make it happen for me. Josh(manager) is one of the reason my friends and I go back there so often. His customer service is beyond excellent!

Happy hour will make your wallet happy! The mushroom appetizer and fried shrimp appetizers were so ono! The happy hour nabe was under $ 18 and was delicious and filling to boot. How you possibly go wrong with affordable prices, generous portions and delicious food!

Nice service and love the food:) I love how you can choose different broth but I always end up choosing The pirikara(a little kick of spice but not spicy at all)

If the worst thing one can say about a place is «I ate too much and left feeling overly full» and if that happened for about $ 22 I’d call that a win. Dining at Ichiriki’s Aiea outpost last year I assigned a 5-star rating. The Aiea location is a bit more upscale, with less hard surfaces off which noise can bounce and noise was indeed bouncing in this location. Concrete surfaces and a borderline out-of-control dinner party in one of the areas was so boisterous that a worker apologized for the noise level while I sucked up my desire to go join their fun. Ichiriki has the hot pot set-up down pat. Their big menu guides you to «customer favorites» and«staff favorites» and if you’re going with a party of two follow my lead: one staff favorite hot pot selection and broth for you, one«customer favorite» hot pot selection and broth for your plus one. Then sit back and feast. Even though your hot pot is centered around meat the offering includes the ubiquitous vegetables plus meatballs(not the official name), tofu, shrimp, salmon, chicken… the gifts keep revealing themselves, layer after layer, until you’re so full you fear someone might just plop your plump little torso into the broth as well. A late-evening happy hour brings some discounted items: A regular Kirin ran only $ 2. A particular shabu-shabu was slashed to about $ 18 but there was only one order remaining about 30 minutes before close. Plan accordingly and your meal here can be even more well-priced than normal. Pre-tip, with beer, this meal for 2 was under $ 50(Choice Ribeye Chanko and Shortrib Chanko are $ 21.95 apiece). Ichiriki does a consistently solid job at hot pot and I left wanting for nothing.

One of the best hot pot I’ve tried on the island! I can say I’ve been missing out on some good quality hotpot. Service is great, and an atmosphere you won’t experience at any other hotpot restaurant in Hawaii or at least for me personally. I love the Japanese authenticity inside the restaurant. The wooden sliding doors & taking off your shoes before you sit; makes you feel at home and even better in the presence of friends & good company. I had the pirikara broth which had a spicy shoyu flavor. This was very tasty and went well with everything. The set I had came with a lot of meat(short ribs, chicken, fish, shrimp, and more) and lots of vegetables. It was a really good portion of a little bit of everything if that makes sense. It was so yummy! I cant believe this is my first time after all these years. Worth the wait you could say. I think it was because the wait lines were always long but no wonder it’s so popular. If you decide to come here, which you should, I recommend an empty stomach and being ready to feast. Lol It was a satisfying meal and I ate basically all of it. You’re getting money’s worth; everything for about $ 25 is a really good deal.

I’m positive I’ve written a review for Ichiriki in the past and am puzzled as to why I’m getting a message stating otherwise. One of the spots in HNL that I stumbled upon after a night dive with some buddies. Since then, this is one of the restaurants I visit each and every time I head back. Love their nabe and if you can time it correctly, they offer a pretty amazing happy hour. Love their sauteed assorted mushroom appetizer and always order that to start the meal with. One thing that sets this place apart from traditional hot pot places is that they offer you a choice of ramen, udon or zosui to finish off your nabe set. Make reservations to ensure you don’t have to wait in line. Oh and they do have a lot to park in behind restaurant.

We had this place on our list of possible ‘special date’ spots, but never made it there until friends from the U.S. continent were visiting and wanted to go. We happily obliged. Nabe was a new experience for us, though one that felt slightly familiar given our many experiences of hot pot cooking from other cultures. You do the cooking at the table, in a pot of broth over a portable butane stove. Each pot can accommodate two kinds of broth, so you can be eating across from a partner who is sampling a very different broth from your own. In this case, you choose: — a kind of pot — a kind of broth — a ‘set’ of meats and vegetables(or tofu and vegetables) — a kind of noodles to complete the meal There were five adults in our party, so we had many combinations of the above. My own order was the standard pot, the pirikara broth(a lightly spicy shoyu-based broth), the pork and short rib shabu shabu set, and the ramen noodles. I would have appreciated a bit more spiciness in the broth, but everything was delicious and very fresh. As is often the case in Japanese restaurants, special care was given to presentation, so the food was beautifully arranged to boot. Rounding out the meal were a couple of dipping sauces and a bowl of rice. I finished it all, but was full when I did, so the portion was about right for me. We also tried the ahi katsu appetizer; it was pretty, crisp on the outside and basically raw inside. But I thought the taste was only okay. I’d be happier with the raw fish than breading and frying it. Price was… significant for our budget. All of the sets we ordered were in the $ 22 range, but total bill for the 3 in our family was $ 86(w/tip). It was worth it for a special night out with friends, so I’d do it again, but only on a splurge. Better deals at happy hour, which we missed by landing right in the middle of dinner time. The restaurant is clean and tasteful inside. We ate in one of the special rooms on the right side as you enter, which made for a more intimate setting. The tables are designed to accommodate six, but we had five adults and three small children and managed to make it work. The servers were patient, helpful, and attentive. We had a reservation, and from what I understand, that is a good idea as things tend to fill up. Parking in the area is terrible, though there are meters on the street and some free parking just around the corner from the restaurant. Read the signs to make sure you’re not in the pay lot. I’ve heard that some park at the mall across the way, but none of our three cars had to do that. The area is dark and a bit seedy, so I actually met one of our party out front and rode with her to park, so that we could walk back to the restaurant together.

Nabe craving satisfied! And best part, it’s hella convenient! The parking around the restaurant isn’t that great, but Ichiriki is right across Ala Moana so can park there and walk to the restaurant. Been here many times before and have always been impressed by both the food and service. Note: place gets really crowded so it’s best to make a reservation beforehand! We made a reservation for Friday night at 5:30pm and arrived a tad early, but were seated right away. The restaurant had a traditional feel to it, which complemented the nabe and dishes very nicely. Fortunately we made it in time for happy hour and ordered the happy hour nabe(he got the miso base(so-so) and I chose the pirikara(slightly spicy and tasty!)). Yummy! It included meat, chicken, lots and lots of veggies, tofu, noodles, and some other things. The happy hour nabe also comes with a bowl of rice and a choice of ramen or udon. We both went with the udon and loved it! Udon is udon, but that udon was good udon! If that makes sense lol. Definitely intend to come again. Ichiriki was a new experience for my date and he seemed to enjoy it. We also both really appreciated how attentive the server was. He visited our table numerous times! And, what tastier way to get boys to eat more veggies? :)

Ichiriki is on our«must go» list when we’re in Hawaii. The service is always great, food fills you up with big portions. We came again and ordered the following: Chicken Karaage($ 6): about 6 – 7 good size pieces, fried to perfection. My kids loved it. Garlic Shrimp($ 8): 6 X-Large size shrimp, fried to perfection with a light sweet sauce. One of our favorite appetizers. Mushroom Medley($ 7): if you love mushrooms, then this is the appetizer for you. It had at least 3 different types of mushrooms, lightly sautéed in a nice brown sauce(I think it was oyster sauce). Arabiki($ 5.50): small pork sausages. It was good, very smoky and flavorful. Vegetarian Chanko($ 20): I had a beautiful garden on my plate. It had 3 different kinds of mushrooms, napa cabbage, green onion and tofu. It completely filled me up. Ribeye Shabu($ 23): My husband loved it, the meat was tender and it went well with all his vegetables. Miso Soup($ 4): I had a HUGE problem with this. Really??? $ 4 for a small bowl of miso soup??? I can buy a whole container of miso past for $ 4. I will never order this again. This place is still my favorite, I just won’t order the miso soup next time.

Ichiriki is a Japanese hot pot restaurant located on Piikoi Street walking distance to Ala Moana Shopping Center. I stepped foot into this restaurant for the first time with several friends. The night we went to Ichiriki was the same night of the HIFF: FOODIE movie. We ate during the late night happy hour. Entrance to the restaurant is on Piikoi Street. I entered the restaurant through the back exit with two other individuals. Near the back exit is the restroom. There is a timer that controls the light for the restroom. The rest of our party was waiting near the front entrance. Seating wise there was a discussion of where to sit. Remove shoes, climb up a level, and step down a level to sit on the cushions while enjoying a meal. Eventually we were able to sit at two booths with a removable divider. Majority of the party ordered food that could be cooked into the hot pot. I ended up ordering small plates that does not need to be cooked in the hot pot. I enjoyed majority of my meal… miso soup, ahi poke, and ahi katsu. The garlic shrimp to me had way to much garlic flavor… ruined my appetite. One day I would like to go back to Ichiriki and try the hot pot. I deducted a star because the restaurant is not wheelchair friendly. The restaurant is more for individuals who are able to walk in and out as well as step up and step down. 38⁄200

Time for Unilocal friends! January 5, 2016 Had a great time with fellow Unilocalers Kathy and Terry as I was treated to lunch here at this hot pot restaurant. It was a favorite spot of theirs and I can see why. This is my first time trying Japanese Hot Pot and the concept is simple, you are given the Ingredients of fresh veggies + seafood + meat + a flavorful broth = a blend of delicious healthy meal! We cook our own food on a large aluminum dish, called a nabe, that sits on a butane gas stove in the center of the table … no grease, no oil. Step 1 we choose our broth. There are 13 to choose from and I chose their best seller, the classic Ichiriki which is Shoyu base. Step 2 we choose our set of meal. I chose their best seller, the USDA Choice Rib-Eye Chanko. There are meat, poultry and seafood combinations to choose from. I was excited to participate in this lunch date with the girls. It was a first time delish meal experience and now when I go to eat at a hot pot here in the mainland I have something to compare my meal here with. They also offer sukiyaki, shabu-shabu & original soups. As with all food cook your meat, seafood, and poultry thoroughly before eating. The restaurant had a lot of seating although from the outside it didn’t look very big. The servers were attentive to our table. There is a section that have tatami rooms and can accommodate a large group and have some privacy as well as regular table seating. Good company, good food, good fun! Thank you, ladies!

I’ve heard and read so much about this place but never been here before. I decided to give it a try on a Saturday afternoon. I called in the morning when they first opened to put in my reservation. The lady that answered the phone told me that she only had a 3pm slot open. I told her that it was fine and to put me down. I had actually called a few times in the past to get reservations but they always told me that they were booked full. However, I’ve spoken to a few Unilocalers who told me that they’ve walked right in without reservations. We ordered the Chicken Chanko set with the ginger broth and the Seafood Chanko set with the Ichiriki broth. The Chicken Chanko set came with a few pieces of chicken, a grounded chicken and pork mix, tofu, mushrooms, and won bok. The Seafood Chanko set contained calamari, shrimp, salmon, mushrooms, tofu, won bok, and the grounded chicken and pork mix. All the ingredients were extremely fresh, but a bit on the skimpy side for lunch. You could definitely taste the ginger in the ginger broth. It was heavily flavored and a bit on the salty side. The Ichiriki broth is a shoyu based broth. To my surprise, it wasn’t salty at all and had a nice aroma to it. On the way out after our meal, I was so thirsty and my mouth was super dry. I’m guessing that the broths contained MSG. We also ordered the Spicy Tuna Wrap and Calamari Karaage off the happy hour menu. Both were excellent choices. The tuna was cut into small chunks and wasn’t too spicy. The calamari was soft and tender with a crispy coating. The staff was pleasant, but I felt that they were trying to rush us out. They kept coming around asking if we were done. I still had food in my pot and the server kept asking me if I wanted to bag it up.

Ok, so Unilocal just informed me that I’ve checked in here 9 times. I guess it’s time to write a review on this place. I love Ichiriki! I’ve tried most of the other hot pot/shabu shabu/nabe places in town(except some of the newcomers like Nabeya Maido and Hawaii Pot ShabuShabu House) but they all can’t dethrone Ichiriki in my book. I am in love with Ichiriki’s classic«Ichiriki» broth, which is shoyu based and to-die-for. It’s so yummy that I always run out of broth by the end of my meal. I usually pair it with the rib eye chanko nabe set and ramen noodles(ramen is an extra charge during the lunch service). If you are starving, you may be tempted to order an appetizer(they have a lot of great options), but the nabes are delivered to your table pretty quickly and often arrive before your appetizer(s). Parking is free in the back(entrance off of Kona Street) during lunch service.

I’ve passed by Ichiriki too many times to count and I still hadn’t tried it until recently. I don’t know WHAT I’ve been missing my whole life! I don’t normally venture out just to eat hot pot, and when I do, I usually leave rather dissatisfied(*cough* shabu shabu house *cough*) with my clothes full of smells from the food. Ichiriki changed all that for me. Ichiriki is by far one of the best hot pot joints I’ve been to! Again, I define my life with two categories: life before Ichiriki, and life after Ichiriki. You can either sit at a booth, or tatami seating, which means you take off your shoes and sit on the floor. I don’t recommend tatami seating because it gave me a belly ache eating in a curled position. Their sets are enough to feed 1~2 people, and you can always order ala carte meat, as well as enoki(my favourite), other assorted vegetables, and noodles. There are even sushi rolls and other small dishes if you’re not feeling for hot pot.(But why go if you’re not in it for their amazing hot pot??)Try the ahi katsu! I had the rib eye set(roughly $ 21), which included an assortment of vegetables, some noodles, rice, soup, and udon. They have different kinds of salty, spicy, and sweet soups, but if you choose the premium soups, get the angry goma($ 3)! So yummy and worth it! Service is as good as it gets. We were taught how and what to cook first so that we won’t have to be waiting too long for the vegetables. I highly recommend Ichiriki if you’re looking to get hot pot! The price is very reasonable and well worth it for the food and satisfaction.
