I haven’t been here in over 15 years, however, the food seems to be spot on! Bought the wife and we enjoyed the housemade noodles and roast duck. Quick and friendly service makes this place a hidden gem! Prices are very reasonable and will definitely come back!

Food: If you’re looking for the real stuff, this is it! Their wonton noodle soup was soooooo good. The broth was delicious and the wontons were perfect. I mean… This stuff was really good! We also tried their fried dumplings(it’s pictured on the walls, don’t remember what they called it) was also good. Waitress: your typical Asian-hurry-up-what-do-you-want attitude. She hovered over us while we looked over the menu. We asked for a few mins to review it and she was back in two mins… Hovering again. If you’re not used to this, it’s uncomfortable. Bathroom: there is NO bathroom. You have to go outside and around into the center of the plaza and walk to the back corner for the shared bathroom. They’ll give you a key to unlock the door. Overall, their food was delicious and definitely worth a try!

Has been my go to place for Duck and tossed noodles. The only Chinese restaurant that I don’t leave with that yucky feeling after. Not oily and very flavorful.

Wontons wontons!!! I’m a fan of all things noodles, wontons and soup related. And no, I didn’t get that from my family or had any of it growing up. Newfound love from travels and adulthood rather. Came here on my china town food hop! This was our stop #3! I love beef noodle soup, Taiwanese being my favorite kind. But this place from what I saw had it dry and soup version with so many toppings! Yumm! Finding this place was a task on its own. Chinese cultural center is huge! But if you’re looking for this place: do not go inside. I repeat: do not go from inside! It’s right outside next to Rays byob kitchen! I’ll try that next time! Back to this place. It’s pretty big! Clean, bright and you can see the noodle station/noodle kitchen where the chef is busting out all kinds of soup! The«odor» of the place isn’t that great though. They need some kind of air freshener or just freshen the place up. The food~ everything is super reasonably priced!!! You can get all kinds of soup with various toppings! You can also get tossed noodles with toppings and a side of soup. Hmm! I went ahead and settled for tossed noodles since they look amazing! I got ginger and scallion plus wontons as my two topping combo! The noodle portion is much smaller than expected! Though I was only looking for a few bites so this didn’t bother me. I do like my wontons. My friend got a simple wontons in soup and had way more wontons me. Think double! Guess I know what to get next time. I ate about 1⁄3 of my noodles and brought the rest back. Noodles were a little too soft for my taste! And had a fishy smell! Perhaps it was something in the broth? I know some places do use dried fish/shrimp flakes! Wontons were good though! And you get 10% off with your Unilocal check in! We didn’t even have to show the waitress. She automatically gave it to us after hearing our Unilocal talk! Good wontons, a ok noodles! I’ve definitely had way better noodles and wontons elsewhere! Sure prices are cheap. But I’ll only come back if I’m in the area and still hungry but wouldn’t make this my primary meal!

Foodie pal wanted to give this place a try. I have no clue what I’m getting into. Famous for their toss noodles. The ambiance of the place is very warm. Using wood material with deep rich brown and red colors gave it a comforting feeling. Quaint and quite, the noise level was below average. We were pointed where to sit and water was brought out. Customer service I could tell from the get go would be good. They constantly were looking over the guest to see if anything was needed by anyone. Very attentive. My partner ordered a toss noodle dish. Me, I was beginning to feel full this being our 3rd stop of 6 in our«Food Tour De Force» adventure. The pressure to perform was starting to look undaunting. Won Ton Soup, No Noodles ??$$ The waitress emphasized what i was ordering has no noodles. Although she was speaking with an almost distinguishable accent, I did understand her. I replied, yes that’s what i want. When this arrived i was in panic. There were so many wontons in this big bowl. I first tated the broth. It had a clean taste with good flavor but light. The wontons were nice, again with a nice taste. I did taste my partners egg tossed noodles and they were good. May be just a tad under cooked but good. Next time I choose to come here will be with a bigger appetite.

Well, it’s time for an update on one of our favorite Chinese noodle shops in Honolulu’s Chinatown. Even when this shop changed hands a couple of years ago, we had kept our patronage relatively steady. But, during our recent dines, the flavors seemed to be in decline. We noticed that when we entered the restaurant, there was a slight off-putting smell. I worried that our appetites and dining experience would be affected. As our friendly young server took our orders, I mentioned it to her but, she didn’t detect the odor. Perhaps it’s because when you’re in the environment for a time, your senses get accustomed because by the time our meals arrived, we no longer smelled that odor. So, we ordered our«usual» tossed noodles(lo mein) dish: pig’s trotter and beef tendon. The portion appeared smaller, both the pig’s trotter and tendon tasted like it was cooked with the same braising liquid and the broth(served on the side) was less flavorful than before. Positives for this restaurant are Unilocal’s discount offer and reservation service. Service is still friendly and good. The prices are reasonable for downtown workers and for the neighborhood, below $ 10. Sorry to say, we were turned off and probably won’t return.

Solid place. Noodles are very good — apparently they’re made in house. Wonton also very good. Roast duck and char su are just so-so but portions are generous. Choy Sum was mushy.

I highly recommend the wonton noodle soup here. I believe the noodles are handmade. The flavors are light, and everything tastes fresh. The people who work here are really really nice. The place is very clean.

My friend introduced me to this Hong Kong Noodle House. He is a local, so I trust his judgement in taking me to an authentic HK noodle house. This place is clean, cheap and the service is fast. We went around noon and the restauarant wasn’t full yet so we were able to get a table right away. I ordered the roast duck lai funn and the beef brisket lo mein. Both dishes were under $ 7.00 each. You can’t go wrong with these cheap prices. The roast duck skin was crispy and the broth quite tasty. You get a pretty good size portion for the price. The beef brisket was also tasty and the noodles a good firm texture. My friend told me the owner makes his own noodles at the back of the restaurant. I definitely will be back to try their other dishes. The restaurant is located on the outer perimeter of the Chinatown Cultural Plaza(northwest side). To avoid having to pay for parking, I parked my car one and a half blocks away on N. Vineyard Blvd. right in front of the Kuan Yin Temple. Unfortunately like most eateries in Chinatown, the restaurant closes at 5 pm daily and 3 pm on weekends!

I was told by a Unilocal elite that he wanted to try this place while he was in town. The reviews here on Unilocal looks particularly glowing about Hong Kong Noodle House, so I was like, why not? Let’s give it a try, shall we? It was a solid 4 star establishment and most reviews were raving about this place. I arrived here on a random Wednesday around 12:45pm. I was with a co-worker of mine, whom always loves the Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants, particularly the noodles. Streets were kind of quiet since it was a midday and everyone seemed to be elsewhere besides Chinatown. The street parking was cheaper than that of parking meter rates on Maunakea Street, so it was a pleasant change of pace to have cheaper parking along N Kukui Street and it was fun. It turns out that my co-worker had been frequenting this place when he was growing up in the area, but only new the Chinese name for it, not the English translation. In any event, this place brought back memories of nostalgia for me as well, remembering the area growing up as a child and going to dim sum in Chinatown at an awkward age. The time spent here was basically around 45 minutes. It was a quick meal that was efficient and fit the bill. The overall experience here could have been better, especially with no air condition to speak of. While we were there, the restaurant itself was kind of busy, but there was space, so we could be sat almost immediately. As soon as I checked into the restaurant on my Unilocal app on my iphone, there is a 10% off offer that was useful already, so I informed the cashier when tabulating the bill — after we ate. The restaurant itself was kind of small, like a mom and pop operation. Hong Kong Noodle House restaurant is located at the Chinese Cultural Plaza complex at 100 North Beretania Street. It’s one of the outside perimeter restaurants, but not actually in the Chinese Cultural Plaza. The restaurant is next to the Lee Ho Fook Chinese restaurant. Because this place is a noodle house, they specialize in basically noodles. Chinese noodles in soup. For me, it’s the basic necessities of life growing up Chinese. That and rice. The Hong Kong Noodle House restaurant accepts major credit cards, which is always a plus. The restaurant was relatively clean and, for the most part, it meets my seal of approval for sure. Everything on the menu seemed pretty delicious, but I went with the roast duck combination soup and noodles. It was kind of interesting to see things floating on top of the bowl that’s normally not suppose to be there, instead of on an actual dish. The noodles were pretty good and tasty, but not stellar at all. I would suggest that this place was pretty average for what they are trying to perpetuate. Don’t get me wrong, this place is doggone cheap for the most part. You can get full off a bowl of noodles and topping for a paltry $ 5-$ 8, depending on what you are ordering. This is basically comfort food for those who have grown up Asians or are Asians at heart, whom love a good noodle dish. The flavors are pretty good here and well represented. The toppings are only limited to what your mind wants. For me, the ambiance was pretty good. Nice and quiet, but as a smaller restaurant, it kind of felt crowded. The food wasn’t that great, but at the same time, you can’t go wrong with $ 5-$ 8 bowls of noodle soup, depending on toppings. It’s a place to hang out in when you are needing a quick bite and don’t want to spend a fortune doing so. I’d definitely would recommend this place to check out, but for me, it’s an okay place. Nothing here wow’ed me, so may be a couple more trips here for lunch would do the trick. Support local! B

We parked at the cultural centre, restaurant validated one hour parking. There r 5 of us. Ordered wontons, toss noodles, choi sum vegetables, beef tendon and stewed beef and the last order of roast duck that they have left! It was only 1pm then. The bill was under $ 50, good value for the amount of food we ate. The wontons r bland but hey the bowl had about 10 of them, where in the world can you get that for $ 7?

Love to come to Chinatown for noodles. Really like this place in the Chinese Cultural Plaza(river side.) I come here for the Tossed Noodle. Very fresh! Comes with a side of broth. I’ve had the roast duck, beef tendon, and pig’s feet. All were great. I order it as a combo with choy sum. I also enjoy seeing the food being prepared in the open kitchen. Highly recommend this one.

A very small, hole-in-the-wall that serves quality noodles. Sold. My friends and I decided to stop by this place because we were feeling like eating some noodle-y. I got the tossed noodles with vegetables($ 6.25), which comes with a bowl of broth to dip your noodles in. There wasn’t much to the dish, but I thought it was pretty tasty. The noodles were well cooked and a bit on the drier side, but I guess that’s what the little bowl of soup is for. There was pretty good flavor in the noodles, but nothing mind-blowing. The vegetables(should really be vegetable because you just get one kind) were cooked to perfection — soft, yet crunchy and green… The service was average Asian restaurant service. They did honor the 10% discount on Unilocal for checking in, so yay for that! I don’t know if I would go out of my way to come back here, but might stop by if I’m ever in the area.

The broth is super flavorful and the noodles are perfectly cooked! This little hole in the wall restaurant is right off of the Chinatown market. The ladies there were really nice and the(owner?) lady was super helpful with the menu.

Came into this place due to the great reviews on Unilocal. However, we didn’t really enjoy the food and environment As much as we would have liked to. The service was great, however food was decent at best and was nothing special in my opinion. We got the tossed noodles with fish ball and pigs feet and it was average. The lack of chili sauces for the noodles was also unappealing and I was not a big fan of the soup, it tasted fishy in my opinion. We did manage to get 10% of for checking in on Unilocal!Overall, it was a cheap place to get some noodles and average at best.

Great Noodle house in China Town! Wanted to try this place before I left Honolulu! The place is clean, welcoming, and has good service. There are no cons to this place… Only pros! The noodles are excellent! They are freshly made noodles and you can even watch the master noodle chef make them! Just watching him makes me so hungry! I ordered the won ton noodle soup and it was excellent! The broth was steaming hot and the flavor was soooo good… wasn’t too salty and had a pork flavor to it! The won ton were extremely plump and made fresh! The noodles had the perfect the texture and every slurp of noodles was heaven! We also ordered the roasted duck over a plate of dry egg noodles. This dish included a bowl of broth where you can pour a little over the noodles to moisten them up slightly if you desire! The duck was delicious, crispy skin and the meat was tender and juicy! I will definitely come back… well, if I ever make it back to Honolulu! I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are a noodle lover like me! Lastly, if you check in, you get 10 percent off your complete order and they take credit card!

Santi and I have been coming to this Hong Kong noodle house whenever we visit Chinatown. The unassuming exterior, squared-shaped décor, small open kitchen, and scores of tables summed up its physical arrangement. Foot traffic and atmosphere can be sparse through the lunch hour. They specialize in homemade egg noodles served with an assortment of meaty toppings in soup or hand tossed. My favorites were the two-item combo dishes that came with a side of soup and choice of savory toppings to complicate the noodles’ baseline flavor. For instance, the Tossed Noodles with Roast Duck and Pigs Feet($ 8.25) came with tasty roast duck in lean and fatty pieces and braised meaty pigs feet. Similarly, I also enjoyed the Tossed Noodles with Pigs Feet and large pieces of soft Beef Tendon($ 8.25) tremendously. These toppings worked well with the noodles because the savory flavors were well integrated into the egg noodles that gave the soup a chance to break into the taste buds. The Tossed Noodles with BBQ pork and Beef Stew($ 8.25) were delicious too, but lack of carry-over flavors made the noodles somewhat disconnected from the meat items. Wonton Beef Noodle Soup($ 6) came with greens, beef stew, wontons, and broth. Unfortunately, the noodles were cooked too soft on each visit, and the shrimp flavor was noticeably absent in the soup base. My least favorite items were the Tossed Noodles with Wontons($ 7) and the Tossed Noodles with Green Onions($ 7). These single-topping dishes tasted bland and normative, as the wontons and green onions were inadequate sources of support for the bed of egg noodles. The overall limitations on their dishes included a very surfaced egg noodle flavor, lack of al dente texture, and soup that fell short without the sweet shrimp elements. Since this is after all a noodle house, they could also benefit from making chili paste available at every table. Despite these constraints, service was quick, efficient, and hands off on each visit. Prices were higher than expected, but I will need to explore other noodle houses in Hawaii and compare. I’d be interested in coming back to try their Pig Liver, Beef Tripe, Lai Fun, and rice dishes.

Soup boiling in pot Fresh noodles drop into soup Aroma fills air. I read Honolulu had a Chinatown and had to investigate further. On the west side there is a fresh market area kinda like Stockton St. in San Francisco’s Chinatown. I found locally grown lychee still on the branch. On the east side was the plaza with a bunch of restaurants. I was in the mood for noodles so I stepped into Hong Kong Noodle House. First thing I noticed upon entering was the delicious scent of soup. Whole place smelled of won ton noodle soup. :-) Sign outside stated they have handmade noodles here. I decide to go with a tossed noodle combo with roast duck and char sui. Noodles were really good. Tasted like Sau Tao shrimp-egg noodles. Similar texture as well. Roast duck was awesome! Crunchy skin, tender meat with strong delicious 5 star spice flavor. :-) This was one of the best roast ducks I’ve had. Char sui was very good. Tender meat with excellent flavor. The staff was really nice. As a side note while waiting for my noodles I noticed a local sprawled on the ground outside and a ton of mangoes rolling in all directions. Some guy started to help and bought some mangoes. I was intrigued and went out to investigate. Turns out he was selling them for $ 1 each. I bought 2.

Yay! so happy to finally get to eat here! This place was on my list of places to go to — On a perfect Saturday, after errands,(me & my mom) We always go to Lee Ho Fook, Im glad that my mom agreed to try this place. I was very impressed! Place is nice and clean, cute small rest. & Wow! free Wi-Fi. while I was waiting for my food, I was using my ipad with the their Wi-Fi. We both got the look fun noodle soup with fish cake/fish ball. It was so good! Just hit the spot! I was wanting to eat this since 2 weeks ago. & it was only 6.00×2. Can’t beat that! Nexts time I want to try the roast duck noodle,(I saw the lady at the other table eating this, looks good too!) Hmm, its going to be hard choosing between Lee Ho Fook and Hong Kong NH. Lee Ho, cost more($ 1 – 3.00 difference) & they are not really accurate when I get my bill, ? I guess I will alternate amongst the 2. I love good deals and good food! Cant go wrong! Thank you Hong Kong Noodle House for a wonderful experience!
