Came on a Tuesday and had their taco special. It was out if control delicious! The taste rivaled 90% of the Mexican places I have been to on this island and was some of the best tacos I’ve had on this earth. You got to try them. If you don’t, you are missing out!

Do yourself a favor and drive to the one in kailua! Stopped here for lunch with my husband really excited to get some good healthy food as we love the location we normally go to in kailua. After waiting 10 minutes for my salad(kept getting passed over to finish people behind me dishes and messing up my greek salad with the wrong ingredients and not including dressing I finally had my husband go back and ask for a refund so I can get food somewhere else! My husband then eats his meal(surf and turf) and they did not include the dressing for his salad, did not include both scoops of rice and didn’t sear his ahi as requested. Never coming back to this location !

I came here this past Saturday evening for dinner and spent 20 bucks on their seafood trio plate. It was horrible! My 3 pieces of shrimp were burnt and tasted like ashes and rubbery shrimp meat. My salmon and ahi were super dry and tasteless. They were so dry, I had a hard time finishing it. My rice was also not cooked all the way through. I had white rice and it tasted old, hard and starchy. Spending $ 20 on an mall food court plate is outrageous enough but I at least expected it to be decent. When I’ve eaten at the Kahala Mall location, I haven’t been disappointed. Maybe the staff at Ala Moana needs more training on the grill? Thoroughly disappointed and regretful. Won’t be eating here again.

The best part of this restaurant is the meat. I always enjoy ordering the steak. However, since Grylt touts itself as a healthy spot to eat, they should probably display the nutritional information for the food they serve! Though I am not a fan of their mashed potatoes, the sauces are great, along with the salads. This would be a 4 star review if I could find the nutrition facts!

Tried this place a few nights ago and wow oh wow was it yummy! We ordered a shrimp and steak combo plate with grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious and seasoned just right. The steak and shrimp were succulent and flavorful. The veggies cooked just right and the perfect spicing. And the mashed potatoes a great texture and taste. It seemed a bit pricy for food court food but after tasting it we were willing to pay the price. Will definitely go here again!

I’ve only gotten one thing here and it’s their chicken wrap! It’s so freaking good! It has this herb sauce and crunchy lettuce and tender chicken. I love it and have trouble not eating it every day I work.

The only reason why I am giving two stars instead of just one is because I do like their chicken wrap. But the Carne asada tacos I got today were a huge disappointment. First of all, it was not grilled stead, which is what carne asada means. It was pulled steak and overly salty. Not even half as healthy as grilled steak. I would think that a place that prides themselves on being healthy should know that that much salt is not good for anyone. That was all I could taste. To top it off, the guacamole was brown! And they kept offering to people for an extra $ 2. $ 2 for brown guacamole!

Over priced for small portion meal that included chewy steak, ahi that wasn’t fresh and dry mash potatoes. Definitely not eating here again.

I would like to give this place a four. A really healthy and natural place for the most part It is conveniently located at the Makai Food Court of Ala Moana. You can’t miss it for it is right near the mall entrance to the food court. As far as service, it is a food court restaurant so you shouldn’t expect service like a sit down restaurant. But they are really nice people. Definitely will cook/grill your protein to whatever preference. As far as portions, I think the protein portions are good. Could probably give a little more, unless they purposely give out that much for nutritional reasons? I like to order the summer baby kale salad with seared ahi and the ahi wrap. Having seared ahi in these choices makes them the bomb! The salad comes with local kale greens, chopped almonds and strawberries, the choice of protein, and this strawberries type of dressing(Don’t really remember the name). So good! Then the wrap comes in a spinach wrap. It has wasabi aioli, choice of protein, lettuce and tomatoes, and onions. So good! Check them out!

We were walking through the food court on our way to a different restaurant when I saw some girls eating a delicious looking salad. Stop! I want that salad instead! Looking around, we guessed correctly the salad was from GRYLT and got in line and man, oh man, I’m glad we did. GRYLT has plates, sandwiches, and salads. Choose between steak, braised beef, ahi, shrimp, chicken, salmon, and tofu. If you are getting a plate you also choose your starch, veg, and sauce. For salads there are 3 options and all sound great! I went with the Signature which is Manoa lettuce and grilled veggies with a honey mustard dressing, and added seared ahi for protein. The grilled veggies and fish were nicely seasoned and the salad dressing was tasty. My only criticism is the way they served it. The lettuce was put in the container as a whole quarter, stem to leaf, and the ahi was put on top as a fillet, so I had to tear everything myself to eat it with chopsticks. The Surf and Turf with Steak and Salmon was great. I paid $ 1 more for Farro as the starch and got it with Grilled Veggies. The Salmon was perfect, tender and moist. The steak was a warm rare. Plus it came with 2 sauces. GRYLT is a great post-workout meal, I’ll definitely be back.

I usually have a less than smooth experience in the food court at Ala Moana. I was greeted by a guy named Joe, with a cool tattoo on his chin and helped instantly. I think I waited a total of three minutes for my fresh grilled chicken breast, brown rice and grilled veggies. I am on a strict diet these days for my training program, and GRYLT allowed me to hit my noon meal on time! Thanks Joe!

I rarely eat here because it’s on the pricey side. Plus their menu and ordering system is confusing to me. I’m the type of person who likes to know up front how much I’m going to pay for a dish & when you start subbing or upgrading items it can add up. So when I look at their menu I’m pretty sure I have the«deer in the headlights» look going on. Which is why I’ve gone with the simple sandwich or wrap route when dining here. Never done the protein plates. My last visit to Grylt was back in 2013.(Thank you Unilocal for tracking my crazy eating adventures, lol). Prices have since gone up considerably so I’m confident to say my hard earned money helped pay for the new food court renovations, which is very nice btw. So I had a 10% off coupon & decided to give Grylt another try: I ordered the Ahi Wrap($ 10.85): Seared ahi, mixed greens, tomatoes, grilled onions & wasabi aioli wrapped in a spinach tortilla. My discounted total came out to $ 10.22, which is still expensive to me & I didn’t even order a drink either. That wrap was delicious though. Very tasty but not very filling. I was hungry after a couple of hours. It’s a tough call. Taste 4 stars. Value 2.5 stars. Overall rating 3 stars.

I eat here quite often. I usually get the steak wrap(which is usually very tasty and the pieces of steak are very nice). But I’m giving it a bad rating because tonight, I ordered the steak wrap and EVERY piece of steak in my steak wrap were the pieces of the meat that you normally THROWAWAY! I was so pissed and disappointed! If this were a couple months ago, I’d give them 4 stars, but after tonight’s dinner, I am so upset. It was like all the nasty hard fats of the meat… there was really NOMEAT in that wrap… Yea sure, maybe it was close to closing time, but that doesn’t mean you give a customer trash in their food! Wtf! That was so stupid on their part because I will NOT be returning to Grylt Ala Moana! Restaurants should know, their food and service might be good, but all it takes is one major fxck up and it could potentially ruin them. Besides, the cashiers they hire are rarely friendly. There’s only a couple that were very inviting and smiling. The rest are either unhappy to be working or just always have bad days. But I swear they have a high turnover because I rarely ever see the same people working. It’s always new people. Anyways, Grylt needs to train their employees about what is meat and what is trash. And also how to have decent customer service and how to smile.

Are you on a low carb/high protein diet? Can’t find anywhere to eat? WELLTHISISYOURPLACE! My boyfriend and I have a hard time finding a place that helps us stick to our diet. Then one wednesday night, when my lazy butt did not feel like cooking, we decided to meet at the foodcourt. Low and behold! we found a place that met our low carb restrictions!!! I heard angels singing hallejujah! We are the type to measure per oz or grams how much we eat. we dare not go over our carb limit. I know it sounds insane, but explaining all this would just not be about the reviw, so I won’t go there. ANYWAY, We were happy to know that they weigh their portions out. The best part was they had cauliflower mash! It is the first place I’ve seen that has this! Customer service was awesome! I think they probably talked about the crazy couple asking to weight everything, BUT I’m happy that they tool the time to do that for us. They were so patient with us and out nutritional inquiries. We’ve been back 3 more times and they have always been happy and helpful. I think they are used to the calorie counting people coming over with crazy questions. Prices seemed steep at first but, worth it with the amount of food you get. The food was great! There are a lot of grilled options from fish, chicken, steak. The grilled steak rare is like butter! mmmm! You know how you walk into some places and they say they have a salad, come to find out it’s just a piece of iceberg lettuce??? REALLY!!! put some spinach and kale in that mofo! Well you’ll be happy to know that their vegetable options also surpass the«iceberg lettuce only» salad. They have good salads and grilled veggies. They have dipping sauces as well that are really good. There are many to try too. The only bad about the food was the cauliflower mash. It tasted good and had lots of flavor. I just prefer my caulifower mash more smooth like real mashed potatoes. Other than that it was good! Overall, I will be a continued loyal customer! I hope they open a location on the Leeward side too!

Last week on vacation, visited this mall 3x(yay!) and tried three different eats. This was one of them. Did not notice this place last year.(Could it be new?) For lunch, got a grilled ahi wrap, which was very good(the seared ahi fish was excellent, the lettuce & tomatoes were crisp, the wrap was good-sized except for my hubby, who said it looked small), except the bottom of each wrap end was extra salty(the honey-mustard dressing went to the bottom of each end of the wrap, which was cut in half). So, yes, I gave the rest to my hubby, who liked it, but he doesn’t have a salt issue like me. The wrap was in the $ 10 range. They were giving out steak samples, and that was excellent, but salty. And we saw video of the girl last night, hahaha. Nice girl, BTW, hubby said she was the one who took the order for the wrap. If it’s still around the next time, I’d try it again.

I had a rocky start with Grylt, I’ll admit. The first time I tried to eat there, I stood by myself for 3 minutes and nobody acknowledged me! So I went elsewhere. After joining the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii and learning that I get a discount here(10%! Awesome!), I decided I’d give it a shot. I asked the person working if they had any vegan options. They suggested the acai bowl«WITHOUTHONEY» This statement made me trust them with their vegan recommendation because only people who TRULY know the limitations would say that… unfortunately, I was wrong… but I digress. I do love acai bowls but I was in the mood for something savory. The same person who recommended the acai bowl suggested I try the tofu wrap. Yessss that sounds great. I ate it. It was like heaven in my mouth. The tofu was a little bland BUT the saving grace was the sauce that was abundant throughout the wrap, coating every veggie morsel jam-packed into the spinach tortilla. I began to eat that every day almost. I noticed that after lunch, I started feeling a little weird, like heavy and gross. I kinda brushed it off until one day, I decided to ask what was in the sauce(what I should have done before I ate the first one). The person working said there was mayo in it and that I can get it without the sauce. :(Noooo…the sauce was my favorite part… it saves the whole wrap from being bland! I think it’s fantastic that Grylt offers 10% off to VSH members, but at the same time, it means you really need to educate the staff on the dietary restrictions of members of the association. I miss you, tofu wrap… maybe we will meet again if the owner can find a way to make you vegan…

Extremely disappointed. I ordered the Greek salad for 10DOLLARS!(But that is the average price for the food court) My container wasn’t even full! I was shocked to see that I paid 10 bucks for half a container. The other salads that I saw being prepared were loaded so I guess I just figured that mine would be too. I know next time get a greek salad from The Fat Greek instead. It’ll cost the same but you get much more for your money.

There aren’t many choices at Ala Moana for those who are on restrictive diets. We tried GRYTL Ala Moana today based on the positve reviews, but was quite disappointed with the quality and quantity at above average prices. SERVICE Prompt, courteous, and efficient. PRICE Two plate lunches for just under $ 30. ATMOSPHERE With the recent renovations at Makai Market, the atmosphere was a cut above a typical food court environment. FOOD Seared Ahi Tuna Plate: small portion for the price turned out medium well instead of rare as requested. Steak Plate: small portion for the price was definitely not high quality as it was tough even with extra chewing. Mixed Green Salad: nice mixture, mostly fresh but contained wilted/rotten pieces. Salad Dressing: tasted like it had sweet chili sauce base, thus too spicy and sweet for our palate. Citrus Herb Oil Drizzle: pretty flavorful and well balanced especially since none of the proteins were seasoned. Brown Rice: overall it needs to be cooked in more water as it was quite dry and stiff in texture. BOTTOMLINE: Should we need to find a healthy alternative at Makai Market Food Court, chances are slim we’ll be returning here since most establishments have healthier items on there menu nowadays. For the price, we’ll most likely go elsewhere.

GRYLT ala Moana is located in the food court at Ala Moana Shopping Center. It’s a little pricey for what you get. I ordered the seared tuna which as you can see from my pictures was really very rare. I mean the red raw tuna was showing through the grill marks. The salad that came with it was ok though a few leaves were wilted. That’s no problem. My big objection was the fact that the two large scoops of brown rice on top of the protein. When I asked for extra sauce I was told it was $ 0.65 extra. This place is definitely one of the healthier food options at the food court but it comes out I have to price with mediocre results.
