One word: Perfection. Greens & Vines serves some of the best tasting meals around Honolulu. The place looks modern and clean. When you walk into Green & Vines you feel all of your tension melt. This place feels zen. The prices appear decent. But definitely worth every penny. The menu lists every ingredient in the food. The Pad Thai tastes like a little piece of heaven! Every bit of it tastes and smells perfect! The Hawaiian ice tea — mango and pineapple, the tea tastes amazing. The service rates an A+. Jay, our waiter explained to us about how Green & Vines prepares the food: No cooking just freshly prepared food with some water added. They offer meal plans for the week! Talk about eating healthy! Ask for a brochure. Come to Green & Vines! You will not be disappointed!

It’s ok. it’s not great. I still don’t understand why people try to eat something that’s «like» meat but isnt… it’s obviously gonna taste like shit. and to top it off its really expensive for foe food.

Classy, great customer service, TASTYFOOD but really expensive. I tried their lasagna and it tasted great! This restaurant has food that’ll convince people that raw vegan food can taste delicious.

These meal plans are outstanding! This is our fifth week of the meal plan and this is one of my favorite meals! Kaffir miso pad Thai with cucumber mint! I can’t tell you how great it is to come home after work and just open a box for dinner. Everything is prepped and ready for you to assemble. And the best part… no dishes! Ahh now this is the life!

This review is about their meal plans! Previously I had eating their living lasagna at a farmers market and really enjoyed it. I also ate at the restaurant before and had a good experience. However this review is more about their weekly meal plans that they offer. My girlfriend and I eat mostly healthy. We are not vegetarians, but our normal week for food involves a mix of really healthy food like salads and veggies along with some pretty unhealthy stuff like when we go out to a place like cattle company or I decide to cook some Cuban pork. As we’re really busy during the week, I had started looking into meal plans. You know, the kind of thing where you pickup or have delivered prepared food for a few meals per week. My goals were: — it should be healthy — it should be tasty — it should be something that is difficult to make(i.e. I can’t make at home easily) — it should be convenient — the price shouldn’t be astronomical As we’re in Oahu, there aren’t a ton of meal plans available, and places that I found didn’t meet my goals. Most places that come up when searching for meal plans are in the mainland and don’t really ship to Hawaii or if they do, it’s prohibitively expensive for shipping. There are a few places that are located here offering meal plans, but when I looked at the menus, they looked good but not especially difficult to make on my own. That was, until I saw the meal plans offered by greens and vines! We’ve already tried a full month of the meal plan. It’s 6 meals a week, and every meal is different for the whole month. That is, there are 24 unique dishes per month before it repeats for the following month. I’d say of the 24 dishes, maybe 4 aren’t my favorite, but this is real quality food. I was originally worried that each meal would not be enough to satisfy me, but it has been perfect. We usually eat them for dinner, but if we have something else going on that night, we’ll just eat it for lunch the next day. You pickup the 6 meals on a Friday at their Greens and Vines restaurant and they have a suggested order for you to eat them. The most perishable meals are eaten first, and the longer lasting ones are eaten last. We will finish the last of the 6 meals on a Wednesday night. Every meal has a complete list of the ingredients(but not the caloric content in case you’re wondering). Looking through the ingredients and the way it is prepared, there is no way I’d be able to make most of this stuff on my own. It’s amazing how good these meals taste considering they are all raw and vegan. I simply don’t have the expertise to even come close to this when dealing with raw ingredients. Overall what’s been cool about this is I know at least one of my meals per day will be totally healthy and will get me a good day supply of vegetables and other good stuff. Our Costco purchases have also gone way down because we haven’t really needed to cook meals at night very often anymore. Most of what I cook now are for lunches or for the one night we don’t eat this. Also, eating healthy like this makes our splurge meals that much more fun if we do happen to go out. Try it out!

I’ve always seen these guys at KCC Farmers Market and decided to try it out one night. The food was hands down awesome. For Vegan food we had expected to still be hungry, but we left nice and stuffed. We had the Not so tuna, Living lasagna, and Zuchini fettuccine. The drinks were pretty good also… I had the iced lemongrass tea, and my other half had the happy hour wine flight for $ 15(not bad!). The menu was pretty pricey, but we didn’t mind. We got to enjoy the experience!(Photos posted).

Wow. Raw food is not always tasty, and sometimes even tastes weird to me. But not here! I am so happy after lunch here(had the lasagna and chocolate cake). Haven’t felt this good after a meal in a long time! It is really beauty detox food… And I’m not hungry all afternoon because it keeps my sugar levels stable. Love this place and its devoted server, a very friendly guy, a lot!

At greens & vines expect everything to be Raw and Vegan. Everything on their menu does involve any cooking whatsoever. The closest thing that involves cooking is particular menu items that would involve«cooking» with their dehydrator. The highest degree of heat is 118 and that’s it. The reason why they choose not to have any cooking involved is to maintain the highest level of nutrition in the food served as opposed to cooking(which usually decreases the level of nutrient preservation in the food) Overall for my first time here, this was a pleasant experience and I am a huge fan. When you first walk in feel free to grab a menu, which is on a stand you’ll find right when you walk in the restaurant. Next to that you’ll find water cups. Water is self-served. After looking through the menu you will place an order and pay at the register. Then sit wherever you please and your food will come to you. Our waiter was a character. I absolutely loved how much enthusiasm he had because it showed through his knowledge of the menu and his recommendations. On another note I have noticed how much our waiter reminded us of Sheldon from the big bang theory, the look, the voice, the attitude, everything(Seriously I’m probably coming back just because of him; possibly the food too) What we ate: –Living lasagna: it was strange yet a pleasant eat. I was conflicted in trying to believe that this is purely vegan and raw and it was made without any cooking. For someone who is a true meat eater I give(+5/5) even for a serving size that I thought was small, it was extremely filling.(This is usually recommended for first timers) –Zucchini Fettuccine: I was shocked to see how much the zucchini resembled noodles. The cream sauce was a purée made with macadamia nuts, lemon juice, garlic, and nutritional yeast) As a non-vegan vegetarian eater(+5/5) I enjoyed this more then the living lasagna! Other information: Parking is free and it is located in the back of the building complex(you’ll find a small sign saying«greens and vines restaurant parking».(Don’t drive up/down any ramp. Drive straight in and turn left, you’ll see their logo on a door and you can go in through that back entry)

Although this place is a little pricey for the amount of food you get, it’s definitely worth it. We tried the burger, tuna salad, lasagna, and pad Thai. This is a raw vegan place so the food is very healthy. My favorite was the«not tuna salad’, which I believe is made out of nuts but surprisingly tasted just like tuna. I really love the food here!

FOREVERMYNEWFAVORITEPLACEOMG. I’ve never heard of this gem until today when I was at the KCC Farmers Market. They had a booth there and my friend was like you’re gonna love this place, it’s healthy & vegan! OK, so their food is hella expensive but SO. DAMN. GOOD. I bought a couple things and the total was almost $ 40!!! But I had to… It was so amazing. I got the«LIVINGLASAGNA», «CHOCCOCONUTTRUFFLES» and the«SPICYSRILANKANCOCONUTDIP» The living lasagna was amazing. 12 raw layers of zucchini with Pesto, cashew sauce and other amazingness in it. Their spicy Sri Lankan coconut dip is perfect w crackers, but this is for spicy food lovers only!!! And the chocolate coconut truffles are made of raw cacao rolled in coconut shavings. I can’t get enough!!! I’ll have to go to the actual restaurant soon & try everything else!

Our family of four ‘from birth’ vegetarians and one 99% vegetarian found this amazing raw vegan place on Unilocal and just had to try. We were immediately impressed with the friendliness of the waiter, who took great pride in showing us the different dishes as they were brought out to other guests. The menu was creative and enticing so we each tried something different. None of us were disappointed! Living lasagne, pad Thai, zucchini noodles with pesto sauce, scrumptious falafel with an almond ‘hummus’(because chick peas would have had to be cooked), tapenade with sesame crackers created in a dehydrator… It was all amazing. The waiter was so lovely, he went inside and brought out a coat for our little girl because she looked cold. He was deeply interested in what he was serving and fully knowledgable on every dish. Highly recommend any vegetarian makes this a ‘must do’ experience.

This is my favorite restaurant in Hawaii when I want to eat clean and delicious food. It is the only one of its kind on O’ahu. Be prepared to get your own water and pay ahead of time because I think they had to cut back on the wait staff. But that just makes me want to come here more often to keep them in business. I know they are working super hard to make these labor-intensive dishes and the proof is in how absolutely ono everything is. Hard to believe everything is raw and vegan. At other restaurants I often think I could easily make this dish at home for way cheaper. But at Greens & Vines I’m always thinking I definitely can’t cook(or rather NOT cook because it’s raw) like this at home. It would take way too much time, planning and effort. So the food is well worth it.

I have visited the Greens & Vines Raw Vegan restaurant twice now. My latest visit was for their Valentine’s day dinner. The dinner was $ 50(with reservation) or $ 60(at the door) that included a 4 course meal. The first appetizer was french onion soup. I was a little nervous because this place serves raw, cold vegan food and cold soup does not sound great. The soup was served luke warm and was delcious. I was very happy to see an vegan alternative to french onion soup. Next up was escargots, which was a mushroom wrapped in a pesto sauce on a stick. This was served cold. Not too bad. The main course was a large serving of their Living Lasagna. Yes a cold lasagna made with zucchinni and spinach. Last time I visited I had the Living Lasagna and there is just something about the texture I can’t get over it. My favorite food item was the side salad that was served with the lasagna. The crutons were made of sunflower seeds and I could not get enough. Also, the lettuce was so fresh and crispy, I was in heaven. Delicious. Finally the dessert was a chocolate tart that was way to rich for my taste buds. I love vegan food and have been a vegetarian for 4 years, but this would not be my first stop/thought to visit on my vegan train. It was great to have a ‘fancy’ vegan dinner but the food was not worth $ 50 per person.

After eating at their farmer’s market booth at Ward Ave, we decided to come here for dinner. Upon coming into the restaurant, the atmosphere was weird: First, the man behind the cash desk told us to get our own menus. Second, we were informed to fill our own waters. Third, man demanded upfront payment of the foods we ordered. Fast food restaurant, we felt! Not the dinning experience we were looking for. Before I sat down at the 4-people table, I ask the man if the 2 of us could sit here(the restaurant was quite empty), the man said yes, but 5-minutes later, he asked us to moved to the 2-people table, saying that this 4-people table has been reserved. So we moved, and he put an «Reserved sign» on that table we were sitting on, but only to remove that sign from the table 10 minutes later. I guess that table we first sat on was not reserved anymore. We could of just sat where we wanted without all this moving around. Not a good dining experience. The vegan food here is 80% good, and 100% Very Expensive!!! We ordered the buffalo wings(auctually it is green cauliflower). It didn’t resemble anything remotely like buffalo wings, not even the sauce. It was just some sort of mixed sour tomato sauce poured over chopped up raw green cauliflowers. I didn’t enjoy it one bit. And do not recommend it. However, the Tri-dip was very good. The dips were creaming and nutty. The 2 kinds of cracker bread that come with the dipping dish was also very tasty. My burger was very healthy and satisfying. I enjoyed the onion bread, and hubby enjoyed his lasagna. They are both fresh, delicious, and tasty. When we saw the bill of $ 60 dollars, we almost can’t believe it. The whole dinning experience doesn’t call for such an expensive bill. The fact that is upfront payment, self serve water, and ordering at the cash desk called for fast food restaurant. Even through the food was very good, they are raw, and doesn’t involved any cooking, give us trouble to believe that they cost more than the Italian restaurant that makes home cooked pasta a few blocks away. Perhaps the restaurant should improve on sourcing their raw material from local farmers, cut down on the cost, to make raw vegan food affordable to everyone. Affordable and delicious vegan food is better than Expensive and delicious vegan food, because more people will come try it, more accessible, and learn to love it.

Best meal I’ve had since becoming a Vegan in September! Living lasagna 5⁄5 Sampler Dips n Chips 4⁄5 Kaffir Miso Pad Thai 4⁄5 Not Tuna on Onion Bread 4⁄5 Cheesecake flavor of the day 5⁄5 Service was good. A little pricey but definitely worth it! Parking garage is free and conveniently located behind the restaurant, and there is a back entrance to the restaurant. The bathrooms were very clean. I will be back!

It’s Thanksgiving, a time to take stock and to express gratitude for all that life offers. It may seem odd to write about a raw vegan restaurant at this time of year, but perhaps it is the opportune time to consider a different cuisine. I had been aching to dine at this restaurant, especially after seeing their stand at various farmers markets and learning of the motivation for owner Sylvia Thompson to cook vegan — her husband had a heart attack two days after Thanksgiving 2004. Such a compelling story. Greens & Vines is conveniently located at the corner of Kapiolani and Ward, with parking on 1st and 2d floors. Parking can seem scarce in this building, but it’s worth the hunt for a space. It’s seat yourself and you order and pay at the register. This restaurant participated in Restaurant Week, which featured a prix fixed meal of Living Lasagna, baby romaine Caesar’s salad, and vegan cheez cake. The flavors in the Living Lasagna truly live up to its name — it is simply delicioso. You must try it! If you can’t make it to the restaurant, many of her entrees are available at various farmers markets around the city. Food so good… and good for you!

I was looking for the Honolulu farmers market when I came across this restaurant. I had about 30 minutes to burn and I was starving. I know it was a raw vegan place, and I decided why not give it a try. I walked in before 6pm, and it turns out I was the only customer. I was greeted by a polite woman and given a menu. My eyes immediately went straight to the salads. Spicy curly kale with sesame, ginger, chili vinaigrette, red onions, and maple pecan called my name. I knew asking for chicken was out of the question lol. This was a first for me not having any protein. Within a few minutes my salad was placed in front of me. Lovely presentation I must say. The maple pecans were dressed on top. The onions on the bottom while the kale was dancing, rolling all over in the vinaigrette. The con was that the ginger mixed into the dressing had some essence of lemon which was very strong. It was almost overwhelming at times. It left a tart taste in my mouth. I wish that I had asked for it on the side. Besides that everything tasted fresh. The pecans were very good.
This is definitely a place for vegans and clean eating.

Going vegan seems like a full time job in itself to me. I’d be a monumental fail after 5 minutes and probably accidentally eat something processed using animal products. I don’t think I have really ever had a true vegan meal, let alone a raw one, that is also gluten free, until I came here. This is truly a fun, artsy, and unique concept for Hawaii, but it’s almost a tease for my appetite and palate. I had the zucchini fettuccine and living lasagna, and when my brain registers the word«pasta» it does a happy dance, in anticipation of copious amounts of carbs. The fettuccine was delicious, and creamy but it was cold, filled with an overwhelming amount of garlic and the zuchinni«pasta» just didn’t do it for me. The balsamic saturated mushrooms on top of the fettuccine, cut down on the garlic spiciness, and wish there was more of it. «Lasagna» is also a word, my brain gets excited to hear and expects a warm cheesy filled carb dish. This being a vegan establishment, the living lasagna is quite different, its cold, and has layers of tomato spread, pestos, nuts, and veggie slices to divide it all up. Its good, but because my brain has been programmed to identify warm, meat, cheese and carbs with lasagna, it was a little underwhelming. I think I may have also suffered from a cream attack. Although tasty the combo of the living lasagna and fettuccine sauce with all of that garlic from the pasta was just too much and made me feel a little sick towards the end of the meal and afterwards. I think this is a great, small bites place anything larger just doesn’t settle with my stomach, and you have to be in the mood to have your food cold. I also didn’t think charging $ 18 for a tiny piece of living lasagna, and $ 17 for the zucchini fettuccine was a value for my money. I was also surprised that it took that long to get the orders out, its seems like you could just pop it out of the fridge. You will also radiate garlic through your pores when you walk out if you have the fettuccine, make sure you have gum, mints or your toothbrush with you, or else you may frighten those around you away.

I am a fan of this restaurant, making at least one stop every time I’m back home for the holidays or summer vacation. Delicious, refreshing, and very intro to vegan friendly food. I love their lasagna and pad thai entrees. Yes, it’s spendy, but considering a bento at Shirokiya sets you back $ 14, I’d say it’s worth it. I can make my own bento, but a dish here? I can’t make these living lasagna squares to save my life. And I definitely crave them while I’m in the mainland! The past few times I’ve been here I opted for the take out cooler so I didn’t notice the switch, but when I dined in recently I noticed the slight changes in the service protocol: ordering at the cashier and then seating oneself, grabbing your own water in paper cups(!), while a server brings out the food. No follow up on how things are and whether we may need anything – which is fine if that is the format. But the half-service/sizzler-esque situation did have me a little confused at first.(Do I bus my own table? And this also begs the question of how much does one tip?) I couldn’t eat here everyday, but I do appreciate the raw vegan cuisine I have had at this restaurant. I’m really into the refreshing flavors and the textures of the food. The Pad thai is really more pad thai inspired. It has«kelp noodles,» which adds a surprising crunchiness to the cold peanuty salad. So delicious. And the lasagna has that most amazing fatty texture from the nut cheese, it’s so addicting. All in all, I hope this place sticks around in Honolulu.
