12÷30÷15 NEGATIVE stars! dear Aina Haina Shopping Center: Please rethink the use of this space and suggest that Genki Sushi vacate this location and fill it with another establishment… ANYTHING else would be an improvement. the process: you wait for a table… and wait… and wait. and wait [we were the only ones waiting]… until the lazy workers make their way to the podium to come and seat you. [three of them saw us walk in including the guys making the sushi]… BUT, don’t follow too closely because the guy in the black polo might yell a little too loudly that the table you’ve been lead to is going to be used for another party [there was NOONEELSE waiting to be seated]… THEN, you have to wait for someone, ANYONE, to come and take your order… seriously??! I was ready to walk out before they even had a chance to bring our water… these KIDS walked around like they didn’t want to be there with their grouchy faces and lack of purpose. I mean seriously, if you don’t want to be there please find another job… the food: terrible, lacking and subpar… there was very little on the belt to even choose from… and when you placed an order it sat on the hand-off area forever just waiting for a server to realize that it needed to go out… by the time we got our orders everything was lukewarm or cold… Service: the good — absolutely nothing… the BAD — ALLOFIT… from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. it was ALLBAD… verdict: $ 50 for subpar sushi made by grouchy kids… this place used to be really good when it first opened in our neighborhood and we ate here ALLTHETIME… the service was great and we got to know our servers… we haven’t been here since Kuru Kuru opened at Kahala and after tonight we’re never wasting our time [or money] here again…

While Genki may not be gourmet sushi, I still love it and eat here often when I’m back home in Hawaii. Tonight I went with my father and grandfather and had a good experience as usual. The food came out fast and the service was excellent. Scott, Darcey, and Jacey were all super patient and helpful with my 97 year old grandfather. :) Thanks!

This Genki location is not the most ideal. Service is lacking, and so is the food when compared to other locations like Ward or Kapahulu. I agree with some of the other postings: food can take a while to arrive though they’re not particularly busy.

I had a pleasant experience at this Genki location. David in the back and Drew as my server! These two were so attentive and made the food exactly how I like(no green onions and not toooo spicy!). The Aloha spirit here is wonderful and I’ll definitely be back!

Where do I start. We were one of two tables in there. The two of us ordered maybe 3 things each? And they forgot two of them. After waiting for 15 minutes we finally flagged down the waitress told her we wanted one of them but not the other anymore. MAN do those workers not care about anything! They all need to be let go and realize it’s a privilege to have a job! You should be grateful and work hard! After reminding them of the food they forgot they wasted time, dilly dallied, talked, I just couldn’t believe the complete lack of urgency. Not acceptable. After five more minutes I didn’t even want it and was visibly upset. No apology, nothing. People go out to have a great experience. You ruin that experience when your service is like this. You mess with people’s happiness so realize that and care more about the kind of job you do. This place is a joke

While sushi is still my favorite food, the cleanliness of this location is sub-par. The stained concrete floors feel sticky like spilled soft drinks were used to mop the floor. The seats are all cracked and food stained vinyl and the wood trim that frames them are caked with dort as though none of these workers get paid to clean the place. I know what you’re thinking, «maybe they don’t have the right cleaning supplies». We’ll rest assured, they do, and it is on a shelf less than ten feet, yes 10 feet, free m the area that they prepare the food. These are gallons of commercial cleaners some within arms reach of the person making your sushi. Needless to say I left without the satisfaction of eating sushi. I’m not saying that Genki sushi is bad nor is this review a reflection on the restaurant chain, this is a review of the management and workers at this location. I guess when you’re live in the clout of Aina Haina hard work falls to the wayside.

Was eating yesterday when it was slow and saw 2 cockroaches crawling in the cracks of the table. If they are coming out during work hours imagine how many are around ms at night. This is a SERIOUS health issue!!!

The food at genki is always the same, so it basically always good. The sushi on the belt(what little there was) was pretty nasty looking. The inari looked like it was melting. It’s kind of understandable though considering the place isn’t that busy so you can’t just make a bunch of sushi that’s not going to be eaten. You’re better off ordering food & it comes out great. The service though… Every server there acts like they’ve never had a serving job & don’t understand the concept of good service = good tips. They all act like fresh out of high school punks who just want you to leave. Or better yet, don’t even come in. It’s pretty embarrassing since they were all black shirts(which are the supervisors). Like wow must not be hard to get promoted here huh. If you’re reading this, HEY doesn’t hurt to smile you know. Or at least be polite. ANYWAY. They have draft beer here which is $ 2 or $ 11 a pitcher which is pretty awesome. Wouldn’t ever come back here though, when Genki Kapahulu, Ala Moana, or Waikele(probs the best) have awesome service for a cheap sushi restraunt.

Worst service at any Genki to date. I dont know if they were short-handed that night or what. No employee looked over 22. We got there, put our name on the list and waited… waited…waited…17 minutes later we got the 2 open counter seats that were open the entire time we were there. And then this is what was going by on the belt: wasabi, arizona, cupcakes, mochi. No sushi. Took another 10 – 15 minutes for a server to take our order. Some sushi trickled out after that but whats the point in having the conveyor if youre not gonna stock it?

We decided to try the Hawaii Kai genki location while we were in town and were a little disappointed with the experience. Our initial server was very shy and did not bring me a water as I had asked. While we waited for our food, for some reason all fried items arrived first before any nigiri or rolls. When they did arrive the had been poorly made and were falling apart on the plate. My boyfriend also found that his water cup was chipped and cracked in multiple places on the lip. Later on, we witnessed two employees make themselves food in the sushi station and eat it. One who proceeded to walk out onto the floor very obviously chewing a mouth full of food in front of guests(found out later his name was Drew). This server then stood next to us and laid his head on the sushi train overhead and chatted very loudly to other coworkers as we were eating. Poor and unprofessional service and for the first time we left unsatisfied with our genki experience.

my mom and I went here lastnight and the service was terrible. We were seated in the back and we were waiting 10 minutes minimum for the server to ask us what we wanted to order. This place is really unsanitary. The ginger in the containers and the tongs were filthy. My mom ordered tea and the tea smelt like fish water from the tank and the cup was dirty. The wait for the things we ordered was long too. If I didn’t live 5 minutes away I would’ve made the trip to the one at Ala Moana. Honestly if I knew how bad the service was and how filthy the place was beforehand then I would’ve made the drive to Ala Moana’s genki.

I usually love eating at genki but the service here didn’t seem that great! The waiters weren’t too friendly at all! They forgot one of my dishes that I ordered and didn’t service us water! The staff here really don’t make the customers feel welcome! Don’t get me wrong the foods good but the service sucks! Genki at another location would probably be best!!!

Horrible service. Waited for a table. When seated, the booth seats were covered in rice. Servers walked right on by and didn’t ask if we wanted to order. Unsanitary!!! Don’t eat the ginger in the little boxes on the table. One of the servers whiled the table and picked up the tongs used to grab the ginger off the table and placed it right back in to the box. Didn’t even bother to get a new CLEAN tong or even wash it. Gross.

I’ve always had positive experiences at the Aina Haina location. Expect a wait during peak times, but otherwise, if you come mid-morning or mid-afternoon, there will be tables available and quick service.

Wait time is longer than usual. Service –? ?? blah… they lost the good workers. Food Price — menu price went up(quality not there) Something happened there. either change of management or POOR management that made the ‘better’ staffing and service leave.

Worst location ever. Every time we go… for some odd reason they forget to bring our food. I swear every single time. Today was what had me write this review. We ordered our food and 2 other tables came in and ordered their food as well and I seen them receive everything while we never got our food! I had to flag down the workers to ask them for it! Annoying. Idk how hard it is to torch salmon but im sure it isnt that hard and sticking rice in a bowl with a scoop of poke. I could understand if it were busy but it wasnt. Workers every where standing around talking! We wont be back to this location. Totally sucks ass! Also how hard is it to refill water! I work in the food service business and I understand urgency and giving good customer service. It would help if they didnt have such young workers no one looked like they cared to even work and looked like no one was even in charge. No tip was given for us. I dont tip bad service.

Used to really like coming here as long as we beat the lunch crowd on the weekends. Sure, it’s almost all kids that work here, but the service wasn’t terrible and it was quick sit-down sushi. Unfortunately, it’s gotten TERRIBLE. The service is rushed, the wait staff doesn’t seem to care, and this place is always dirty. Watching them bus tables to try to get people seated as fast as possible is enough to make you lose your appetite. Not to mention you see them run in the back to put dirty dishes in the kitchen then run back out to deliver plates to tables. They’re not in the kitchen long enough to wash their hands. We even saw one of the waiters, Drew(no actual name tag, just a label stuck directly on his shirt), carry a plate of sushi while carrying a dirty bus tub at the same time. Did he deliver it to the table like that? Yep. Sure did. Disgusting. Not sure how this place got the green«pass» from the health department… maybe the reviewer didn’t sit down and actually eat here. If you don’t mind building up your immune system with all the nasty from the waitstaff, feel free to give this place a try.

This Genki Sushi is really the worst Genki location ever. In general, you don’t go to Genki to get high quality sushi. You go because you like the cool conveyor belt, and you like their variety. But the bottom line is that the conveyor belt sushi looks dank, like it’s been sitting out there forever, so you order from the menu anyway, and you only end up ordering the same things that you like so does the variety really even matter? Plus it’s not that cheap. All that aside, this location really takes the cake for being the worst. They are always out of something, and are ridiculously slow. When eating in, the service doesn’t seem to be so bad, but when you’re doing take-out, that’s another story. The last time I went was around 8pm(out of desperation might I add) and it was pretty empty. I ordered 2 spicy ahi dons and 1 kabocha tempura take out… somehow it took 20+ minutes for me to get my food. This is after I saw the 2 spicy ahis come out almost instantaneously. They were just sitting on the take-out counter. The counter boys were chilling, talking story, not even manning the tables because there weren’t a lot of customers at the time. It’s all guys that work here basically. But that’s not the point, the point is just that while my spicy ahis were sitting there, no one was making the tempura. Finally after 15 minutes the register boy realized that I was STILL waiting for my food so he went to go check on it and I saw him say to the kitchen crew«what you guys never started the tempura!??» About 5 minutes after he said sorry the tempura is coming, and I finally got my order. Congratulations, I am officially 100 years old. I didn’t make a fuss about it but honestly I was very tired after work and just wanted food. The spicy ahi is okay, but that’s because they cover it in sauce so you can’t tell if their fish is fresh. At peak hours, there’s always a wait here. I would NEVER wait for this location. I would much rather drive a little further to Kurukuru at Kahala Mall instead of settling for this shiz.
