Hubby and I decided to try Arancino at The Kahala because we had a gift card for the Kahala. Unfortunately, the gift card could not be used at Arancino because it is separate from the hotel, but we had a wonderful meal anyway and will be back for more. We went for an early dinner on a Sunday evening and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and delicious food offerings. Arancino has tables both inside and outside. We were seated inside the small restaurant. We were promptly greeted with water, a menu and an explanation of their offerings. Soon we were given delicious bread. It looked beautiful and tasted good. We ordered several things: fresco di mare, spaghetti ai ricci di mare(uni pasta), pizza funghi e tartufo(mushroom pizza with truffle oil), Miyazaki wagyu beef, and vanilla gelato to end. Fresco di mare(from antipasti): an assortment of sashimi and seafood. It looked gorgeous and tasted fresh. I especially enjoyed the uni. Spaghetti ai ricci di mare(uni pasta): spaghetti with a white wine garlic tomato cream sauce and uni. You have to like uni to want this. Hubby and I both like uni so we enjoyed this creamy dish. pizza funghi e tartufo(mushroom pizza with truffle oil): what can I say? I love mushroom pizza and just had to give it a try. The pizza had shimeji, maitake and eryngii mushrooms. The truffle oil was a nice touch, but ended up being a little too much for me with each additional bite. Just my preference to be lighter on the truffle oil. Miyazaki wagyu beef: Ok this seems pretty pricey for 5 ounces of meat, but compared to what we have paid before for this takes the cake. Hubby has been obsessed with Japanese A5 wagyu since our trip to Japan. We have gotten supplements at Vintage Cave for wagyu and still prefer the Miyazaki wagyu beef from Arancino. The beef was cooked perfectly(sous-vide) and just to hubby’s liking. This was his dessert and how he chose to end his meal. vanilla gelato: This should actually be their gelato affogato which is their vanilla gelato with a shot of hot espresso. Sounds delicious, but since caffeine has a strong affect on me, I chose to forego the espresso shot. Their housemade gelato was delicious though! I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed Arancino at The Kahala. The prices weren’t too bad for the quality of food and service was excellent. I think we just might make this our new go to spot for celebrations. I can’t wait to go back! Perhaps for my birthday…*hint hint* ;)

Dined here for lunch midweek with some really good friends who wanted to eat away from the masses of people in town and Waikiki. Perfect location for lunch to have conversations without straining to hear above the noises and crowds. Loved the Spaghetti ai Ricci di Mare(uni spaghetti)! The natural saltiness of the uni is balanced perfectly in unison with the heavy cream, white wine and garlic. Each flavor relates to the next flavor in the dish and it works. Perfect al dente pasta in a simple and clean presentation. The deconstructed tiramisu was extremely decadent and rich(perhaps too rich and thick for my liking). I much preferred the Bianco Mangiare — a roasted almond panna cotta, coconut gelato & coconut granita. Panna cotta was firm and«hearty» but still light enough to pair with coconut gelato and underlying granita. Refreshing, pleasant and clean! Superb customer service from beginning to end. Our waitress was flawless in describing our dishes, presentation and was attentive without being intrusive. We were also checked upon by the manager on duty — nice touch. Parking is by valet or self park in the hotel parking structure.

If you have a gift card for The Kahala, you can’t use it at this restaurant… go to Hokus. Dining outdoors was ideal, with cool weather & very little trade winds. Service was exceptional. We had the tasting menu: lobster bisque was very good; Fresco di Mare was not good, with Icelandic shrimp(as in mini– lobster) was alittle mushy, tiger shrimp had a strange taste, scallops were good; lamb was AWESOME!, arriving under a smoke-filled dome; deconstructed tiramisu had the texture of a chocolate-sprinkled marshmallow, but presentation was attractive & ground coffee beans were its saving grace.

Our whole family came to celebrate a birthday, 3 kids and all. Service was wonderful. They allowed us to switch out our pastas in the tasting menu. They split the bisque because each couple was sharing a tasting menu plus an entrée. My niece was sleeping so they put two chairs together and brought a pillow so Grammy could put her down and eat. The server brought my daughter a plate of cut up pineapples. I asked for the brand of tea they carry and they gave us 2 to take home… and a box of Italian cookies. The bisque was delicious. The carbonara was the best I’ve ever had. Perfection. So truffl-y and rich. Squid ink pasta wad just ok. Shrimp pizza was yummy. The strawberry tiramisu was super pretty and delicious. It is my favorite dessert on their menu and I’ve tried them all. This was my 4th or 5th time and it was a great experience.

A big disappointment at a rather high cost. My mother was dining alone, trying this instead of Hoku’s, her original destination. They put her off to the side and left her there with a glass of water and no menu for about 10 minutes. She had to flag someone down to get a menu. She went with the waiter’s recommended dish, a seafood pasta, only to receive a huge platter with some pasta in the middle and random pieces of seafood in the middle of that, with the flavors not meshing well. She flagged down someone, again, to order a salad instead, and only then did the waiter come to ask how she liked her food. When she said she did not, he said he’d get her something else, and she ended up with a basic plate of pasta with marinara, and as she said, you could make better at home. If there’s anything i hate, it’s a place or person that doesn’t treat my mother well, of course, and a place that doesn’t treat women dining alone well. That, plus mediocre food, means I will keep passing this place up.

Had great expectations. Was surprised that the tasting menu was so hard to eat. Yes, I dont eat Italian so often, but the whole group 6 of us, didnt think the taste of most of the food we ate was good. Plating was excellent Service was very attentive Taste is where, it looks they didnt work together.

My husband and I celebrated his birthday here a few weekends ago. This was our first time at the Kahala hotel and we were so impressed with how beautiful the hotel and the restaurant was. We had a 5:30pm reservation and we ordered the two different tasting menus. We enjoyed all of the courses, and everything was done very nicely. I also ordered the wine pairings to go with my food, all of which were excellent wines. The dishes that stood out to me were the lobster bisque, carpaccio, grilled seafood including lobster and scallop, foie gras, and mushroom risotto. I also really liked the different breads that they served, complimentary! My tasting menu also came with uni pasta, which I’m actually not a huge fan of(I know, I’m terrible). But my hubby loves uni so he really enjoyed that dish. As all the other Unilocalers have stated, the service here is excellent and the servers are very knowledgable and informative. The ambience is also really nice and romantic, especially if you are seated outdoors. There was also live music that evening too, with a musician playing the accordion. It was so cute! The restaurant also does a fantastic job of presentation with the dishes. My favorite was of the fresh garden vegetables that were served in a pot, which looked like dirt in the pot but it was really crumbles of some type of mushroom. It was so cute and creative! This restaurant is great especially if you’re celebrating a nice occasion like a birthday or anniversary. If we were ballers we would have loved to stay at this hotel as well, but since we’re not we can just dream and hope for that one day. =)

Italian food is one of my favorite cuisines. Growing up in New York with Italian friends, I ate lots of authentic bites. Arancino is a wonderful mix of that authentic Italian flavors with some local products. It has been on my list for awhile. Lucky for me, Maka K. & Cathy T. invited me for Restaurant Week & I had the perfect excuse. Ladies night! Located in the Kahala Hotel, this meal is not about views but the food, wine & ambience. I arrived super early accidentally and it happened to be pouring rain. The staff at Arancino let me take an umbrella so I could go wait in the terrace. Nice touch. We were seated at a lovely table right outside under a covering. They do have indoor seats but I actually loved having the cool night air around me. The menu looked incredible and I pretty much have to come back and order everything — including the $ 30 seasonal truffles sliced table side. Mouth is watering just thinking about it! We had come on a mission though and that Restaurant Week. Thankfully, that menu was just as delicious looking. Four courses for $ 57 a person with an optional wine pairing for $ 18 [3 tastings]. Just because we had all had a long week & were feeling red, we skipped the pairings and ordered a bottle of wine to share. Our server was friendly and knowledgable; she was able to describe the wines as well as let us taste a few to make our selection. She actually recommended splitting a bottle so we could get more buck for our bang; I like an honest lady! I was not expecting it but a cute bread plate came out with a breadstick, mini focaccia & a roll. I loved the breadstick and the soft butter with black seat salt on the side of the plate. FYI: they will keep bringing you a brand new plate with all 3 as many times as you chose to eat. CARBHEAVEN! As we nibbled and sipped, our courses began to arrive slowly: FIRSTCOURSE [INSALATA] — Carpaccio di Caspesante — beautiful sliced hokkaido scallops, kamuela cucumbers, local micro greens & a house made yuzu vinaigrette. This dish was gorgeous, thinly sliced and plated cleanly. The micro greens and yuzu made this dish so fresh tasting — I was savoring each bite. Simple and yet complex. Amazing start. SECONDCOURSE [ANTIPASTO] — Arancini ai Funghi — an organic mushroom trio & parmigiano reggiano arancini with petite short rib cubes & truffle powder. I’m a huge fan of arancini and this only made me wish I had a plate full of them. The textures and flavors were perfect, with creaminess & a crunch of the outer shell that I swiped in the short rib sauce to sop up every drop. The tiny meat squares that in any other setting would make me wonder where the rest of my food was, were rich enough to create a great yin/yang on the plate. The truffle powder was interesting but I think more for plating. I enjoyed the little mushrooms that accompanied the plate. THIRDCOURSE [PRIMI] — Gnocchi di Zucca al Gorgonzola OR Maltagliati con Coda di Bue — I chose the gnocchi, a housemade pumpkin gnocchi with gorgonzola spuma. I found these light and a love pumpkin. The gorgonzola was creamy & fluffy, keeping with the lightness of the dish. The dish wasn’t huge but I was pleasantly satisfied. I definitely checked out the other girls plates which held the other choice: braised oxtail, house made maltagliati & locally grown ho farms vegetables. The oxtail was falling apart and in a velvety sauce. I was really impressed with the making of pasta on both dishes. FOURTHCOURSE [DOLCE] — Bianco Mangiare — roasted almond panna cotta, coconut gelato & coconut granita. In a clear bowl this white glorious treat was almost shining up at us and with every bite I was in a bliss. The panna cotta was perfect and the coconut/almond was so refreshing to end the meal. Between the three you got so many different cold textures in your mouth. One of the best desserts I have ever had in a restaurant, no lie. I was so sad when I realized I ate it all. It might have been the excellent company of Maka and Cathy but I had an epic meal here; I’m shocked I have not come before. The service, the food, the wine, the décor — oh did I mention, the toilet seats are heated? Just saying. I felt like a wizard. I don’t think much more could have made this experience. We were checked on often, glasses always full of wine and water and truly pleasant interactions. I can’t wait to have something to celebrate so I can come back here — especially now that I heard about these special macarons in other reviews! A+++ all around.

For atmosphere and quality and taste of the dishes presented to me, I highly recommend Arancino at the Kahala. This is a great fine dining eatery that you’ll definitely want to come for a celebration or just whenever. My personal favorites are the Uni pasta, the Wagyu Bolognese, caprese and Bagna Cauda. Definitely try at least a few of them if not all of them. The reverse deconstructed carbonara that my friend had was all mouth shattering. They have a bar here that makes light and fancy drinks as well as foreign beers and beverages that you must try as well. My only reservation is the last time I came, it was very busy and raining. So if you’re seated outside it can get a bit hot and muggy and a little damp. Our servers also forgot to give us our«doggy bags» and they mixed up our valet tickets which was a bit troublesome. So if you can park in the self parking lot, I would do that and try to get a seat on the upper deck or in the room in the back. Overall, my experience was still a good one and I’d recommend this place to anyone for fine dining and if you’re going to impress anyone or a date, here’s a place that you should be taking them.

This review is only for Restaurant Week Hawaii 2015 based on the prix fixed menu. Located in the Kahala Hotel. Parking is either valet or self park with validation free up to 4 hours. Comfortable upscale ambiance. Very cute and nice! There’s indoor and outdoor seating. The kitchen is exposed, not very big. We were impressed by the prep that went on through there. So my friends and I took advantage of the Restaurant Week special. A prix fixed menu set for a deal of $ 57. Started with three types of house made«bread» served with butter and salt. First course is the carpaccio di Capesante: Hokkaido scallops, cucumber, tobiko, & maldon sea salt. Second course is Arancini ai funghi: three mushrooms Arancini, short ribs. The main course we decided to get each one so we can all try them. Gnocchi di zucca al Gorgonzola: kombucha pumpkin gnocchi, Parmigiano reggiano, Gorgonzola sauce. Maltagliati con coda bue: house made Maltagliati pasta, oxtail, daikon, carrots, Okinawan sweet potato And for dessert; Bianco Mangiarie: almond panna cotta, coconut gelato, coconut granite. Everything was so delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The experience was excellent! I’m so happy for restaurant week!

My boss took everyone here for our annual Christmas lunch party last year. We all loved it and that says a lot as it’s very hard to please everyone in my office! PARKING: When we arrived, there was ample parking which was awesome and much different from our lunch the year prior at Ala Moana. ATMOSPHERE: To access the restaurant you must go through the Kahala Hotel. Inside, they had a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and gingerbread house set up. It was a nice touch especially since we were there to celebrate our holiday party! As for the restaurant seating, they had indoor and outdoor tables. We chose to sit outdoors but it was not hot at all with the fans blowing. FOOD: Onto the food!!! We all chose the lunch prix fixe menu. You got to choose from a few options and they were kind enough to make some modifications as well. The breads they give you when you first sit down are delish and they were generous in offering us all second helpings of it! For my salad, I had the Nalo Greens with Raspberry foam dressing. This was a fun and artistic dish that also tasted great. I had the Spaghetti alla Checca which I very much enjoyed. It seems plan, just pasta, sauce and cheese, but it tasted better than anything I could have made at home! Another coworker got the uni pasta and let us all try it– wow! We all agreed that this was definitely a winner. SERVICE: Helpful, accommodating to our food preferences, and very nice! OVERALL: This was the perfect place for a work lunch party! I loved everything from the location, atmosphere, food, and service. This is one of those places I have been telling my boyfriend about for a year now hoping to get a dinner date in… LOL. I’m sure I’ll be back again eventually. A+!

Our last dinner in Oahu and we decided to dine at our resort. Arancino is not cheap but it is delicious and a complete 5 star experience from start to finish. From the lovely patio decked out with twinkly lights to the TWO servers to help you throughout the evening, to the delicious dinner, oh and the complimentary cookies to take home didn’t hurt either! But I’ll back up. First we started with a couple of cocktails. I had a delectable coconut pineapple topped with coconut cream whipped with a bit of lime zest. I had two of them, they were just so good! Then, we were served the amazing bread plate. This is complimentary and each guest gets one(included is a square of a brioche-like bread, a dinner roll, and a crunchy bread stick plus a pad of butter and some black Hawaiian salt). For a starter I had the lobster bisque(INCREDIBLE) and my husband had the plate of seasonal fruit with prosciutto. The fruit this time were delicious figs. For my main course I had one of the best bowls of carbonara I’ve ever had while my fella had seafood pasta which was terrific. Since the dinner was so carb heavy we went a little lighter on the dessert(which was a must!) and ordered the almond panna cotta with coconut gelato and granita. Light but sweet. The perfect note to end on. Also, since we were there on our honeymoon, they wrote out a note of congratulations on the dish. A nice touch that made us smile. The check came. We winced a bit but the food and atmosphere was 100% worth it. And then they sent us on our way with a box of the aformentioned complimentary cookies(two nutella shortbread sandwiches, two pieces of almond biscotti, and two meringues. We were stuffed so we saved them and enjoyed them on our plan to Maui the next day. A little something to remember them by, and remember them forever we will!

after eating like piggy little beach bum stoners for a few days, we decided we deserved a proper dinner that wasn’t served in neither plastic wrap nor paper plate… not that anything is wrong with that. haha i fux with anything ono! arancino was so satisfying to me. we had the tasting menu/degustation and everything was excellent. all the food presentation was so pretty, especially the veggie garden that came out in a pot and also the uni spaghetti/pasta which was heaven. also a standout dish was the squid ink with chitarra… omg. the arancini was above average– not the best, but not standout excellent. weird since this place is named after it. amazing ambiance and solid bubbly list. great location and superior service.

Charming ambience reminiscent of an Italian trattoria, Arancino at The Kahala also serves up beautifully plated, tasty dishes that are at once both classic and modern. Flavors sing together on your tongue while you’re serenaded by the sweet strains of the accordion playing cheerfully in the background. Coupled with the twinkling lights strung above, you feel transported to A Roman Holiday. Service is executed flawlessly; water glasses filled, each plate described in detail sans any caloric reference, polite yet friendly, enthusiastic yet restrained. Every bite is to be savored; my hand made tagliatelle was flat and thin with every strand coated in the creamiest of sauces — a white wine garlic tomato cream sauce! Impressed that the restaurant made this dish for me though it wasn’t on the menu. That’s service! The grilled romaine in the Caesar raised the classic salad dish up a notch making it extraordinary. The lightest touch of dressing and two lacy Parmesan crisps were all the flavorings needed. The tiramisu was a bit of a letdown. Served as bite sized morsels, the cake was a bit too dense for the classic light-as-air dessert. But it was just the right portion size to end the meal. For my birthday dinner with Fran C. and Cathy I., Arancino has to be one of the tops! Of course, being with my foodie buddies, laughing and talking nonstop, I’d be happy dining anywhere!

What a pleasant dining experience I had tonight! It was my friend Sharon’s burfday… and what better way to celebrate it, than going to The Arancino at the Kahala Hotel(do you have any Grey Poupon?) Lol! I had suggested The Arancino at the Kahala Hotel because I saw one of my friends Galen T. celebrate his birthday here back in June, and after seeing all of da pics from his gathering, I knew then and there,…we had to come here to celebrate Sharon’s birthday! I am so glad I came here tonight, as I really enjoyed the food, and service… but most of all, I had great company tonight! The evening was filled with stories & laughter! I give the HIGHEST marks for the Service we received at the Arancino! Tomo our waiter was OUTSTANDING! You can tell that the staff was professionally trained, as they knew how to address the customer, and they also were very helpful in making wonderful suggestions on the menu. They had the right charm in knowing when to properly intervene during a group conversation, or to just let the party enjoy the atmosphere. The white gloves worn by the servers was a nice touch too! Although this restaurant does not have a view, the ambiance of the restaurant reminded me like I was in a restaurant in Italy… what a really cool restaurant! The man playing the accordion was a nice touch too! For my meal tonight, I chose to get the 4 — course tasting menu. I had the following items — 1. Amuse bouche — Best way to describe this, is like a fluffed up peas in a shot glass! The natural taste of the peas had a slight sweetness to it. Never had anything like this before. 2. Zuppa di Aragosta — Basically it’s a lobster bisque with claw meat & brioche. 3. Prosciutto e Frutta — prosciutto di parma served with locally grown figs. 4. Tagliatelle ai Frutti di Mare — Tiger shrimp, scallop, fresh house made tagliatelle, lemon garlic white wine truffle oil. What a outstanding meal! Every item was delicious! There were no let downs here… that’s for sure! If I ever come back here again… may I suggest you try this dish — Spaghetti ai Ricci di Mare — uni, spaghetti, white wine garlic tomato cream sauce. My friend Cathy ate this dish tonight and I tried a little of it… and maaaaaaaaaaaan! It was mind blowing good! I will definitely come back here just to eat that dish! Sharon had ordered the following tonight — Tagliatelle with white wine garlic tomato sauce …(It’s not on the menu, but what ever Sharon wants… she will get!) I did not tap any of Sharon’s meal, as I did not want to deprive da burfday gurl! Lol! Sharon! I know you wen’ enjoy dat yeah? Lol! I must say, the food portions were just right! After my meal… we had parted our ways, and my original plan was I was gonna change out of my fake clothes, and put on my real clothes(gym clothes that is), as I was planning on going to the gym. But guess what? I am at home right now writing this review before I forget all the names of the stuff we ate. Lol! Check ‘em out gang! The Arancino is a wonderful restaurant!

Awesome! Really I would say this is a 4.5 experience with only minor detractions. Rating better than acclaimed Hoku’s we had to give it a try. Get the Uni pasta as all have said. I am not an uni fan but just loved it. If you like lobster or crab you will love it. Pizza was good but short of a Neapolitan experience.

Decided to dine at Arancino’s at the Kahala on a whim for the birthday of a friend. The location is gorgeous, just steps from the Kahala Resort and Spa tucked away after the famous Waialae Country Club and 4999 Kalaha Towers. Their entry way is very themed to the ambiance of their Italian cuisine. With a semi-private outdoor setting and a few cozy tables inside, the size of the establishment is perfect. Cocktail list is short and sweet. I tried their Arancino– a sweet, tangy martini with a floating dried orange, and my friend had the Peach Milano– a twist on the classic Mojito. Between the two, the Arancino was my fave. I had heard so much about their lunch prixe fixe, I persuaded my lunch partner to order the same. Appetizers: Insalata Caprese Cherry tomatos, fresh mozzarella, balsamic caviar and a hint of basil So yum! Each tomato was cut in half and gently placed along with mozzarella. Balsamic caviar was a total creation, they resembled edible beads Tartare di Mare Shredded ahi, kona kampachi tartare with avocado on the bottom and topped with tobiko All nicely stacked as one pillar served with thinly sliced house bread Entrees: Spaghetti ai Ricci di Mar Uni, white wine tomato cream sauce Hands down, the best Uni pasta I’ve had here and in Japan. Though Im not a big fan of seafood, especially the richness of Uni, this pasta gives just the right amount of the taste, and not to mention, each noodle is coated in their delish white wine sauce Pizza Funghi e Tartufo Shimeji, maitake, eryngii mushrooms, mozzarella, gorgonzola, mascarpone, parmiagino, white truffle oil Great size pizza, the crust is obviously had in house. With 3 types of mushrooms and 4 types of cheese AND truffle oil, you cant go wrong with this selection Desserts: Tiramisu A deconstructed version of the signature tiramisu Not too overwhelming on the sweetness, I liked the accent of crushed coffee beans along the edge of the plate to balance out the sweetness of the cream Panna Cotta Italian cream custard, tomato sorbet and compote A very refreshing dessert, small portion for a rather large plate, but hey, the tomato sorbet was to die for Overall, an amazing experience at Arancino at the Kahala. I cant wait to come back for dinner.

I really enjoyed the high class service in a casual bristro-like setting. Both our servers were extraordinary, very polite, informative and knowledgable. The white gloves to set the silverware is a little overboard, although a nice touch. The amuse was kahuku corn mousse, which was incredible. Sweet, smooth and a little saltiness from the bacon. The bread was also very good. So good I had 2 servings of it. All I remember about the delicious bread was 1 square, 1 round, 1 stick, a nice amount of butter and black salt. Yum. The app was tomato cheese salad. I hate tomatos but ate it all as it went very well with the gooey lightly flavored cheese. The main dish was the uni pasta. Not being an Uni lover, i wasn’t really looking forward to it. Surprisingly it was delicious. There was a LOT of uni on there, so I’m mixed a lot of it into the pasta. The sauce was rich, thick and flavorful. The dessert; a huge deconstructed tiramisu. Unbelievable! and so delicious. This was our favorite meal for #Restaurantweekhawaii2014

RESTAURANTWEEKHAWAII ~~! This is the perfect week to get together with friends or go on a hot date! Check it out on their website — Arancino actually has a couple locations. The one I will be reviewing today is located at the Kahala Resort. We arrived slightly early for our reservation. So we decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a glass of wine to pass the time. When our friends finally arrived we joined them on the table. Our server for the evening was Pedro, I loved his accent! He was very friendly and helpful when we had questions regarding wines. I was also impressed by the busser who brought us new silverware. They brought it out on a tray and wore white gloves while placing them in front of us. Talk about fancy! The Grub.($ 62 — 4 course menu + $ 24 wine pairing) BREAD: Bread is bread what can I say? Haha, I guess my favorite bread on this plate was the square one. I like my bread more soft :) AMUSEBOUCHE: This was surprisingly delicious! It reminded me of corn chowder, in a foam. It was light, sweet and fluffy. INSALATE: The burrata cheese tasted so good with the cherry tomatos :3 This dish is really simple and good. ANTIPASTO: This appetizer was more on the heavy side. It was a risotto ball that was lightly fried, two pieces of calamari on top of squid ink sauce. PRIMO: The uni pasta was BOMB. This dish was covered with fresh uni and house made tagliolini. It looks small, but I got so full from it. DOLCE: For dessert, we had the deconstructed tiramisu. The presentation was very nice! Definitely instagram worthy ;] At the very end of our meal, Pedro brought us some macaroon gift boxes! If I wasn’t so full from my dinner I would have eaten one right then and there! Overall, I had a great experience here for Restaurant Week Hawaii.
