It's called Cevapi. Too bad it doesn't exist anymore.

The pljeskavica is a wonderful burger, salty and savory and dripping with juices. The meat is flattened out into a thin patty and griddled, along with onions, then topped with a homemade cheese spread(feta mixed with something milder), lettuce, and tomato. $ 8 might seem like a lot for a burger, but it’s a big serving. The smart thing to do would be to eat half and save the rest for later, but I always wind up eating the entire thing and then wanting to take a nap under my desk. Marija obviously loves to cook and feed people. A big part of the pleasure of getting lunch here is talking to her while she carefully prepares everything from scratch(even slices the tomatoes to order!). That does mean that you’ll have to wait for a bit, so if you are in a rush this might not be a good option. The burger is a bit messy to eat, and there aren’t any tables to sit at; it’s in a parking lot, after all, so I take it back to work with me and eat at my desk with lots of napkins and a good hand scrubbing afterwards.

YUM! The food here is amaaaaazing. When walking by, it’s very easy to miss as it looks like a little shack in the middle of a parking lot(with the service counter being located away from the main road). While walking there, we could just SMELL the yumminess from the street and were extremely eager to round the bend. As soon as we got there, we were greeted warmly by the owner and his mother who is the cook. When you go there, you feel like family. The owner is very friendly and great fun to talk to. His mother is just the most adorable woman I have met! She is so full of stories and great laughs. You can tell that the food is cooked with love. On to the food: sooo good. We got the cevapcici and were not disappointed. The sausage links were fresh and delicious. When you took a bite, it was very juicy and flavorful. I chose to get my onions grilled because I had to talk to other people today, but I know that the raw onions on the sandwich would’ve probably added another great kick. The salads were amazing. It was well-worth the additional dollar that it cost. We were in luck and the cook had made a Russian Salad(that we were fortunate enough to sample first). We couldn’t get enough. Overall, I rate this place a solid 5. It was a memorable experience as it should be at any dining venture. I plan on going back later this week! Also as a note, they are open on First Friday. So if you’re not in the mood to stand around at all the other places that have lines galore, go to this place!

Just had the cevapcici and it was wonderful. I had to ask the lady what was in the cheese — I only remember her saying cream cheese and sour cream, there a few more items in it. The roasted pepper spread was awesome. Had mine with grilled onions. Delicious! I ordered this plate not realizing they were links and I thought I was gonna get meat wrapped in casing. Noooooo, it was like flavored hamburger meat shaped into tasty links. No casing at all. She gave me six links because something was broken back there so I guess I was lucky. I ate all the cucumber tomato salad but not the cabbage salad. The meal was delicious but for $ 9 for the plate($ 8 for just the sandwich) I felt it just a tad pricey. I will come back again, for sure, but only after pay day. Croatia rocks!

Adriatic Foods… Adriatic Foods. I think they missed the mark on a creative name because it doesn’t have a nice ring to it nor does it sound like a place that would crank out delicious food. Despite the name, this place delivered something so satisfying I ate the entire thing in less than ten minutes with barely time for me to even breathe in between bites. I’ve been having cravings for Mediterranean inspired food lately and this food truck was close to my apartment so I checked it out. I ordered the Cevapcici plate($ 8) and opted to have two salads for a $ 1 surcharge. The Cevapcici is a sandwich. Inside, there were five sausage links made with pork and beef. They were bursting with flavor. It came with their homemade cheese and roasted pepper spread and your choice of raw or grilled onions. My side salads included a cabbage slaw in a tangy vinaigrette and cucumbers and tomatoes with feta. While the sandwich alone was tasty, I decided to get creative and add my salads into my sandwich. HOLYWOW. It made it a million times better! The salads made the cevapcici sandwich extra fresh. I don’t know if I did something blasphemous by making my own hybrid cevapcici but trust, it was good. I love Downtown Doner so by doing this, it reminded me of an all-in-one thing that they have going on. It must be the feta cheese. The lady manning the food truck was very friendly and welcoming. It takes a while because everything is made to order so plan accordingly if you have a short break. It was a heavy meal so prepare for a possible kanak attack.

Hello Croatia :) At last I can say there is a place in Hawaii with authentic food from my country… This place simply reminds me of my childhood. I used to buy me lunch after school was over, my parents gave me a couple of bucks just enough to buy a pljeskavica or cevapicice, there was a street full of different little lunch wagons for school kids. Well then I would get burek(which also btw they have at Adriatic Foods on certain days, so call and ask) or I would get some other yummy dish, then my tummy would be super full and happy, yup i really missed those days and memories. But at last now that there is a family owned business with authentic Croatian food called Adriatic Foods those long lost memories are gone and I can actually have a tasty pljeskavica whenever i feel like it. Its a very small and simple menu, but each and every dish is HOMEMADE and FRESH, can’t get that from any lunch wagon… They get the best meets and they really make sure to satisfy each and every customer… Its also a BIG plus that its MOM’s cooking, you know that that’s only the good stuff, and seriously the prices are so worth what you get, its all quality stuff so you really couldn’t beat these prices, plus its not that easy grilling all day in the hawaiian weather… Oh and I totally have to mention that this place is actually better than the places I used to go when I was a child, just cuz the meat here is so juicy and you won’t find any chewy thingies in the meat, they really put hard work in finding the right meat, which is very important coming from a person who is not a big fan of meat, seriously gotta trust me on this one… I will definitely be coming back here, and of course bringing my friends so they can taste the beauty of my countries food, so excited for this place, really can’t wait to be back :) Mahalo!

Authentic Croatian food and homemade cheese. Done deal… So I found this place after leaving the block party for Cinco de Mayo. Go figure I found a Croatian food truck on Cinco de Mayo. This trucked seemed to be a mom and son joint, which is always good cause you can’t beat mom’s home cooking. I had never tried Croatian food so I pretty excited and had no idea what to order. The mother suggested to get the Cevapici which is 5 pieces of beef and pork mix sausage in a ciabata bread Served with a cabbage salad and homemade cheese. Amazing is all i have to say about it. The only reason why it didn’t get 5 stars for me was the price. As good as that sandwich was it was a the pricey side at $ 8 for just the sandwich.

Walked around downtown for a while and stumbled onto this food truck in the parking lot Mauka of Mark’s Garage and Hawaii Theatre. Stopped by to grab a menu and went on my way when two guys in a van said«Get the burger, it’s mean.» I U-turned it and asked for Mom’s Burger(aka Pljeskavica); I am a happier person because of it. $ 9 for big burger and two side salads. Burger patty is prepared on the flat top and served on a warmed ciabatta bun. Topped with onions(grilled or raw), sliced to tomatoes, romaine lettuce and a homemade cheese spread. The burger’s mixture of beef, pork and spices gives it a hearty flavor with more depth than a traditional hamburger. The cheese spread melts on the hot patty and blends all the flavors, perfecto. Tomato and pickled cucumber with feta salad was good but so is everything with feta. Cabbage slaw was simple but well balanced. Don’t think I’ve ever eaten Croatian before food but I was impressed with Adriatic Foods and will definately come back with friends. One of the better meals for less than $ 10. If you work in downtown, this is a definite must try.

I’ve actually pass this place every day of the week day on my way to the post office which is close by. I’ve always wanted to try them out but i never have any cash on me. Finally the other day i had cash on me and said why not. I pass by this place everyday and thought i might just try it out. Good thing I did. The menu is really simple so nothing overly complicated. Just a few items. I opted to get the cevapcici plate. Its my first time trying out Mediterranean food and might I say it was very tasty. The ciabatta bread that was used was nice and thick, nothing cheap here. The beef links with the sautéed onions was amazing and full of flavor. I opted for a salad also and man everything was fresh and full of flavor. Probably one of the best tasting salads I had in a very long time. The lady that was helping me was SOO nice and caring and made me feel VERY welcome. That alone i feel that its worth coming here. Ill be most defiantly coming back and getting the beef links and will also try the mom’s burger. VERY Fresh food, Great Taste & affordable prices.

Honolulu’s been due for a cevapcici joint for some time. If you’ve tasted them before, no need to read on. You’re probably already on your way over to the Adriatic food truck on Nuuanu. If you haven’t, get ready for a meat lover’s delight. Adriatic Foods makes these juicy meat links and patties from Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, etc. to perfection! My man and I got the cevapcici, the Mom’s burger, and the shopska salad. Our meat was juicy and so flavorful(garlic!), and they were served with bell pepper and cheese sauces and high quality ciabatta rolls(no cheap and flimsy hamburger buns here). The salad was fresh — similar to Greek salad, for those readers more familiar with that cuisine. There is also a promising looking bean salad for vegetarians, who would likely appreciate the quality and freshness that this food truck seems committed to serving. It appears to be mostly a lunch truck. Go on a weekday before 3pm, when they close. The owner said they are open for First Friday art walk, though, which may work better for some of you. They’re located behind Mark’s Garage, so there’s plenty of parking too. It’s great value for your money — the benefits of a food truck, I guess. Try it!

Awesome good ONO(tasty) food. Service was friendly. I will go back to eat again. It is a place that anyone can go and love the food. Girls bring a friend to share because portions are large. First time I review food, it was that good.
