My husband and I went here after a client of our recommended it to us and the Service was OUTSTANDING! Amazing QUALITY food… They have grass fed beef, they make their own sauces… nothing from the bottle… The chef came to our table… They were just very accommodating… The restaurant itself is very clean, modern and has a great atmosphere… Our new favorite spot!

Best Bloody Mary bar in life ever. Food is solid. Locally sourced. This place is special because they’re always trying to improve and evolve. Please go get a Bloody Mary. You’re welcome.

First the service and décor of this place are great! Has a very«posh» feel to it but without the inflated prices. I’ve been twice and WOW… Their Burger is something else! So juicy and perfectly seasoned with that right mix of fatty/firm… savory/juicy… I can’t get it outta my mind lol. They had a special of chicken skin tacos(crazy I know) that were out of this world! Made for the perfect appetizer as we waited for the magic(burger) to arrive. I’ve yet to have a bad meal here and have been 3X’s! May not sound impressive but I live in Chicago so when I’m making a hour drive for a burger… That’s saying something.

Great food at an upscale but decent price point. Burger was perfect one of the best that I’ve had, though fiancée lasagna was especially tasty. The starting muse is certainly a great start to begin your upscale tavern meal. Positives –Muse at the opening, melt in your mouth pesto tortilla chip. –Bread and butter rolls, you can tell that they bake their own breads. –Burger, delicious to the end, good heft and perfectly chargrilled. Cheese mixture seemed to be a garlic gruyère base. Skinny cut fries could’ve been more crispy, I think they suffer from the cylindrical cup that they serve them in, as the combined oil just softens the smaller cut fries. –Vegetable Lasagna, stole the show of the evening. Decant and expertly spiced with a wine sauce that was garlicky and accompanied by italian herbs. Negatives –Jam and Goat Cheese Jar appetizer, thought it would be served warm, instead it was cold and tasted oddly like beets with a weird texture. Pass on it. All in all a great dinner. My fiancée enjoyed our meals and service was perfect from the staff.

The place is beautiful. The food is good, with some things very good to great! Service can be a little slow. Great beer list. Interesting wines and cocktails. Overall, nice place in the south suburbs of Chicago so we don’t have to drive north for a nice meal.

Let’s start with the bar area with the beautiful fireplace! Very nice décor, very inviting. The bar staff was just so-so, but the Manager, Ed made up for the others. He was very personable! Wine was slightly pricey. They had a pretty good beer list. Next, the food was very good. I liked that they mix things up a bit and offer specials and seasonal items! My cheese platter included an excellent cherry mustarda which I spread on top of the blue cheese and homemade cracker for an outstanding taste! The entrée was the shrimp, which was flavor full. It’s a nice restaurant that I will try again. There were many interesting items on the menu.

Hello, FOODSNOB here. Very nice cozy place. Big fireplace. Nice for a romantic dinner. Not one of those noisy places. kind of quiet. Even on a Saturday night when the place was almost full. They did not have my brand of vodka, but still the martini was still good. The waitress told us that all the food is fresh and they get as much as they could from local farmers. We started with the jar of Pork Rillette spread. Came with plenty of bread. Very tasty. I got the Poutine for appetizer. It turned out to be my main meal. WOW was it GOOD and RICH. Short Ribs and Cheese Curds with gravy on a bed of GOODQUALITY Fries. It would be enough for 4 people as a appetizer. Tasted the wife’s shrimp and crab with risotto. Very tasty again. The side of ROASTEDPOTATO’S were excellent. Would love to go back.

Not sure what the fuss was all about. We enjoy Tequila, and when asked about choices we were met with confused looks. Ok, ok. How about the ala carte brunch? Maybe we should dive into the quality of the food, because the room was cold. As a Foodie we have come to expect excellence. They failed to deliver. I had to send an order of Salted Carmel French toast back, due to dryness. I replaced it with a non filling Stuffed Strawberry and Crème French Toast. It was good. My partner obliged my choice of restaurants and had eggs. Overpriced. Bland. We won’t go back…

Came here after work because I was looking for a nice place to go in the neighborhood. The only thing that was good was the service, even though it was kinda slow. I couldn’t find a wine I liked or dish either. Nachos, hummus and mushroom patè was not what I expected. Tasted plane and I was not impressed. I ordered the duck for dinner and I couldn’t eat half of it because it was basically raw. I ended up just throwing it away because I was literally sick of complaining and wanted to get out of there. Oh well maybe I just came on an off day???

This place is a hidden gem! Linda the server is amazing. It is so nice inside. Food is farm to table. I have been going to one in Valparaiso, but it is so far! Linda informed us the menu changes with the season, except some main entrée favorites. Every month they also have a special themed menu from different parts of the world. Best Manhattan ever. sangria was homemade and Delilah. We will for sure become regulars. We had the cottage burger which was full of flavor. We never had poutine before, boy were we surprised! A favorite for us!

It is nice to have options for«finer» dining in our community!!! The Cottage offers great ambience and great service. I visited The Cottage when it opened in its first few months. At that time, I was extremely disappointed. My meal portion was small. The flavor was not appealing. The service was slow. And, the bill was expensive– 80 Bucks for 2 people!!! … Now fast forward to the present! We gave our local business another try! This time, we were not disappointed. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The portion was just right. The food was tasty. And, it was reasonably priced! The burgers are amazing!!!

My husband and I went here on our date night. We were excited to try a local restaurant that was farm to table. Our server was excellent, very knowledgeable about the plates. We tried the cheese board as a starter. It came with a half carafe of white wine(yeah). The rest of the evening was just average. We were disappointed with the bread/dinner rolls, it was cold and not fresh. My husband had the Cottage Burger. The fries were cooked a little too long and he did not care for the house ketchup. He did like the bun and said it was excellent:) I had the Red Snapper which was a special offering. It was tasty and I really liked the pineappple fried rice. I will give The Cottage another try. There are so many positive reviews that I hope we just chose the wrong dishes. Like I said the server was excellent.

Everytime I visit my hometown I pretty much plan it around food. There are always a few key places in the south suburbs that I must visit. But now, I have a new favorite. The place is beautiful, the staff are amazingly professional, the chef is creative, but the food is incredible! The Cottage will be our first stop whenever we return. What a hidden gem!!!

A solid 4 star dinner. If you are in the mood for a relaxing refined dining experience, you should make the trip. The décor is upscale rustic, the lighting dim but welcoming. Upon reading previous reviews I expected great food and poor service. But I must say our server was on point. It is a higher end dining experience, if you want quick go to applebee’s. You are given time to enjoy the experience, study the wine list and menu, relax and have a conversation. That is exactly how this place should be, for us apps, dinner, dessert and cocktails in 2.5 delightful hours. Our waitress was informative and the suit I would guess to be the gm made the rounds a couple times with banter and recommendations. Our table decided on the poutine and a jar of herbed yogurt cheese with black olives served with toasted baguette. All amazing. Next course — Soups and asparagus salad. Raves cane in for both soups and the asparagus salad, while slightly overdressed was fresh and delicious. Entrees were filet with a porcini sauce and roasted potatoes, a special of 16 Oz pork chop, and a pan seared duck breast with a blueberry demi glaze and parsnip purée. My companions absolutely gushed about their filets and chop. My duck dish was enjoyable however it was not seared properly, fat was barely rendered and was the chewy bright white bite of undercooked fat. That said, I’m going to hope it was an off day. Dessert was a fabulous cinnamon Gelato and a better than average salted caramel crème brûlée. Will definitely be returning, can’t wait to sample more!

The Cottage on Dixie is a lovely building, amazing service, and conscientious dining. The server was able to tell us where all of the food was from and how the animals were raised and fed. The preparation of the food seemed strongly influenced by French preparation. We went with some friends and their baby to check it out last night. Our highlights were definitely the cocktails(our party tried six of them) and the poutine. The poutine was the best that any of us have ever had. It had a nice, smooth, complicated gravy, quality meat, and perfectly cooked fries. You’d think that it would be heavy, but it wasn’t! Absolutely amazing. We also got the beet salad to share. It was good, but we’ve definitely had better beet salad. This one was dominated by salad greens adorned with half inch cubes of beets. Since we’re a group who loves their beets we would have preferred them to be the star of the beet salad. A note on the«Small Plate» section of the menu: they were pretty large and I’m not sure that they were meant to be shared. No complaints or anything. We just were confused if «small plate» meant«appetizer» or «to be shared and sampled.» Our friends enjoyed their two chicken entrees. One got the limoncello chicken special and the other got the Roasted Amish Half Chicken with rhubarb. The special out-shined the other but both were deemed winners! M got the Braised Lamb Belly Pappardelle. She thought it was good and the pasta in it was very, very good. She thought it must have been home-made but we didn’t ask. I got the Sauteed Shrimp and grits. There were four jumbo shrimps on a bed of purple grits. Each individual shrimp had it’s tail on and was doused in sauce. That presentation made it difficult to eat. I usually pick up shrimp by the tail and bite the rest off; however, the bed of grits and the sauce made that a messy endeavor.

Sorry this is not what I expected. Have seen great press, great reviews and heard first hand about how great this place was. I took my mother for her birthday as she lives out in the S. burbs and has been for lunch previously and raved. I had the Amish prosciutto wrapped chicken breast which was great! My mom had the filet and was happy with the way it was prepared and cooked(as ordered), but nothing exceptional. Because it was her birthday we received a flourless chocolate cake !! A great surprise We also ordered salted Carmel crème brûlée This was just plane awful. I honestly think that it was spoiled or made by one of the 15 year old helpers. Guys check this immediately !!! Anyway, The food all was a 3.5 but the service was at best a 2.0. With a fairly empty house, the service should have been better. I would think anyone would expect more.

Since Cottage open it’s door, I have been coming here for lunches and dinners. The brunches over the top. I enjoy the Bloody Mary bar on weekend. Very selective menu from Farms to tables, you will get to enjoy the season vegetable and meat, great wine list and amazing European pastry. I highly recommend Cottage on Dixie.

What?! What the FRUITLOOP?! Same chef, same quinoa burger… way different taste and texture! Not good! Soft, greasy, bland, and HIS Poutine was salty and greasy. I went back as I stated in my original review. I was eager and so very hungry. HE does not want to go back. We tried to fix the flavor with various sauces but that was a fail also. Some«blueberry-something» soup was bo-nasty(HE said). You definitely could not wet your bread because it was so thick. So glad it was complimentary. Can’t say that I want to go back… about to take an antacid to cut the grease. So why did I eat half of it… I was starving an now I have regrets :-*

My wife and I have gone to this elegant yet not pretentious restaurant several times and have terrific meals each time. The building itself is impressive and even more so when you try to imagine how it could have possibly housed a Bakers Square. It is nicely spread out which really makes conversation a possibility. The service is impeccable, especially if you are lucky enough to have Travis but all of the people who work here are top notch. I have had lunch, dinner and breakfast here and the only disappointment was when they didn’t have the lobster roll. The soups are rich and sinfully smooth. The breakfast bacon pancakes are the best I’ve ever had. Then there are the decadent desserts. My only regret is that I am not eating there right now. Let’s both call and make a reservation, shall we?
